A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 333
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 333
“The atmosphere of the Holy Land is strange.”
Zigg who joined the Black Sword Knights with Roban led the knights and entered the Badoka Castle straight away.
The Holy Land known as the Holy Land was surrounded by a strong wall on high ground and guarded by paladins and priests making it an impregnable fortress that even the Orc army could not easily penetrate.
Entering that holy kingdom Zeke sensed a strange atmosphere in the attitudes of the paladins and priests.
This was because although they clearly belonged to the same country there were subtle differences between them.
Roban who was next to Zig heard his monologue and said with a frown.
“Sir Zeke this is the reality of the Holy Kingdom. Even those who worship the same god take sides and fight against each other dividing them into classes and discriminating against each other so many of the subjects cannot help but suffer.”
Moreover no nuns or monks could be found in the Holy Land of Vadoka.
Although they were both priests they were of low rank and could not proudly walk around the sacred ground of Vadoka so they had to use the narrow path behind the building.
Roban had been driven out of the Holy Land by the political strife that was rampant within the kingdom. The Pope’s best course of action was to send him to a monastery where he could remain safe.
Fortunately there the priests paladins nuns and monks respected each other and tried to follow the will of God and spread the teachings.
Roban also followed the teachings and sought to find the true will of God.
But most of the monasteries of the order were not like that.
The clergy exploited the people to fill their own stomachs and preaching doctrines became a means of accumulating wealth.
Although Roban was still young he saw and experienced these realities firsthand and felt the state of the corrupted Holy Kingdom with his whole body.
Roban was furious at their selfish actions but his shoulders shook in fear.
Zik patted Roban on the shoulder as he watched him.
“Don’t be so nervous. I will take you safely to the Pope so don’t worry.”
At Zeke’s words Roban finally looked relieved.
At first he was hostile to Bacchus who had saved him and thought he was a pursuer sent by the empire.
But when I heard that he was not an Imperial soldier but a knight named Zeke Draker who saved the ghetto area from monsters I had a completely different perspective.
He was the greatest genius knight on the continent and was renowned as the Knight of the Sea. He had the blessing of the Fairy King and had performed many miracles. He was currently the most famous person on the continent.
Additionally there were rumors that Zeke Draker could use miracles of light so powerful that he was considered the incarnation of the first Holy King Geo Luverne.
Strictly speaking to Roban Geo Lubern was a saint of a different sect but even so he couldn’t help but feel greatly impressed.
When he heard that such a savior knight was protecting him Roban was finally able to free himself from his fear and feel at ease.

Zeke smiled slightly at the slightly more relaxed Roban before leading the Black Sword Knights towards the Vatican.
Then priests dressed in magnificent attire appeared in front of the Vatican.
The priests dressed in pure white robes adorned with gold and wearing jewelry set with precious jewels looked more splendid than the nobles of the Central Continent.
They were members of the Central Council of the Holy Nation.
And the one standing at the very front of them was none other than Chairman Pierre.
The fact that the chairman and members of the National Assembly came out to greet him in person was a show of sincerity.
Pierre spoke to Zig who was sitting on Bucephalus.
“Knight of Draker and successor of House Agamemnon. Bio who welcomes the Knight of Salvation Sieg Draker in the name of God. Sieg Draker faithful knight. Show your loyalty and faithfulness to God and prove that you will become the Sword of God.”
It meant that according to the ritual of the religious order one should dismount from one’s horse bow one’s head to the holy water and kiss the priest’s feet to show one’s faithfulness.
But Zeke did not get off his horse and just looked down at Pierre.
When Zeke showed no reaction the eyes of the other cardinals and bishops behind him began to waver.
Pierre who had been wearing a solemn expression opened his mouth again.
“Zeke Draker. Get off your horse and prove your faithfulness…”
“Where is Your Majesty?”
Jacques cut Pierre off and mentioned the Pope.
Pierre frowned at Zeke’s unexpected behavior.
The person who currently holds the most power in the Holy Kingdom is none other than Pierre himself.
He was prepared to come out in person to greet him and give him a blessing but he did not understand why they were looking for a pope who was nothing more than a puppet.
When Pierre remained silent Jacques spoke again.
“I wish to see Your Holiness and prove my faithfulness to Him. Please show me where Your Holiness is.”
The expressions of Pierre and the other members of parliament were completely distorted.
However since they were the ones who had decided to bring Zeke into the Holy Land there was nothing they could do about it. Furthermore Zeke’s demands were in principle closer to the level of a degree.
Pierre said with his teeth clenched and his eyes filled with anger.
“… Guide Sir Zeke to His Holiness.”
Zeke followed the priest who guided him towards the Vatican without getting off his horse.
He passed Pierre and the other members of parliament without even looking at them.
Pierre watched with displeasure as Zeke and the Knights of the Black Sword walked towards the Vatican then noticed a little boy with a hood pulled over his head next to them.
‘Hmm?’
Pierre thought the boy looked familiar but he never thought that the boy was Roban the successor.
Then a cardinal said to Pierre:
“Chairman are you going to just let this reckless attitude continue?”
At those words Pierre glared at the Black Sword Knights with a hardened expression then shook his head.
“That’s okay. I don’t know if he doesn’t know something or if he has other intentions but he’ll soon realize it anyway. The Holy Land is a place that operates differently from any other place.”
The most conflicted place on the continent was Rome the capital of the empire.
But the most complex political situation was in the Holy Land of Badoka.
It is a place that cannot be overcome with just the reputation of being a knight of salvation.
Some people even called this place a devil’s paradise where monsters swarm rather than a holy place.

‘Zeke Draker. Go ahead and do whatever you want.’
* * *
After leaving the Black Sword Knights on standby Zeke went inside with his commander Decker and Felix Loban who had ties to the Holy Kingdom.
Entering the Vatican building Zeke looked around and frowned.
‘It’s not being managed at all.’
The Vatican was where the Pope resided and was effectively the most important building in the Holy See.
However it was discovered that the building was currently in need of repair but was virtually neglected let alone maintained.
It was evidence that the authority of the Pope was being completely ignored within the Holy Kingdom.
Even though they had entered the Vatican there was no one to guide them except the priest whom Pierre had instructed to guide them.
Zeke and his party walked through the dimly lit hallways of the Vatican and were guided to a place located inside.
“Here you are. Then.”
The priest who guided us only told us the location and then immediately turned around and left.
Zeke slowly opened the door realizing that the situation in the Holy Kingdom was more serious than he had thought.
Squeak-
The door made a sharp noise indicating that it was not properly oiled.
Zeke and his party went inside.
The interior was so shabby that it was hard to believe it was where the Pope resided.
There was a small space for prayer with a table inside.
That was when.
“Who are you!”
A young knight in faded armor approached Zeke and his party with a wary expression.
Zeke saw the orange cloak the knight was wearing and realized that he was a member of the Pope’s guard.
The knights of the guards were momentarily taken aback by the sight of Zeke and Decker Felix who were displaying extraordinary aura and grabbed their swords.
At that moment Roban who was hiding behind shouted happily when he saw the knight.
“Sir Anthony!”
As if he knew the knight Roban ran towards him calling his name.
The knight called Anthony was surprised and rushed to him picking up Roban.
“Roban! Oh my God! What the hell is going on!”
Only then did Anthony turn his head and look at Zeke and his group again.
Robben said to Anthony.
“It’s Sir Zeke Draker! The knight brought me here!”
Anthony was surprised by Robben’s words.
“Sir Zeke Draker… the Knight of Salvation?”
He put down the robe and bowed his head respectfully to Zeke.
“Sir Zeke please forgive my rudeness. My name is Anthony Solmar and I am in charge of His Holiness the Pope’s escort.”
Zeke greeted Anthony.
“Good to meet you Sir Anthony. It is an honor to see the renowned Vadoka Guard in person.”
The Vadoka Guard which protects the Pope had a unique tradition.
The point is that it is not composed of Paladins. The Vadocca Guard was formed by recruiting and selecting from among the believers of the Cult of the Sun in the Kingdom of Thebes one of the central kingdoms.
During the Holy Empire the Kingdom of Thebes served as the capital of the empire and the Praetorian Guard that protected the Pope at that time was comprised of the most honorable and strongest men in Thebes a tradition that has continued to this day.
When Zeke heard that Anthony’s last name was Solmar he asked him.
“If you are of the Solmar family you must know of Lord Aslan Solmar and Lord Jeffric Solmar.”
Anthony nodded at those words.
“Of course. Jeffrick is my cousin and Lord Aslan is my great-uncle.”
Aslan Solmar who was imprisoned in the cursed mansion for thirty years and was able to escape thanks to Zeke has now returned to the Solmar family and regained his original knighthood.
Anthony looked at Zeke and said.
“I have not been able to meet Lord Aslan in person since I have devoted myself to the Holy Land but I have heard from my family that he has returned safely. The Solmar family has been greatly indebted to Lord Zeke so he is no different from my benefactor.”
Zeke nodded to Anthony’s words.
“Thank you for your kind words. But first where is His Holiness the Pope? I would like to greet him first.”
Anthony nodded.
“Your Majesty will soon finish his prayer and come out so please sit here comfortably and wait for a moment. Roban come with me. It has been a long time since I have seen Your Majesty so let’s dress properly.”
Zeke and his party nodded and sat down at the table Anthony pointed to.
When Zeke took his seat and looked at Felix who was sitting across from him he saw that his expression was stiff and his body was trembling slightly unlike usual.
“Felix.”
When Zeke called Felix suddenly looked up in surprise.
“Yes my lord.”
“You seem quite nervous which is unusual for you.”
“Haha is that what it looked like?”
Felix received the power of Fab the Arch Paladin and learned swordsmanship from him.
Although he was currently on the verge of becoming a Blue Knight having inherited the golden sword skills of the Agamemnon family it was clear that Fab was the one who had the greatest influence on his identity as a knight.
The fact that he had come to the Holy Land where his grandfather had fought a lonely battle abandoning the name of Arch Paladin due to the power struggle seemed to complicate his mind.
Felix exhaled.
“Now that I’m here I think I understand why my grandfather abandoned the name Arch Paladin and tried to save the children of Luverne. He couldn’t stand the actions of the priests who only cared about their own interests.”
Zeke nodded to Felix’s words.
His mother Laura Agamemnon had organized the Dawn Society with Sir Fabre to rescue the children of Luverne and continue the fight against the hordes of the Abyss from the shadows unknown to anyone.
It was never easy to sacrifice for others without any honor or gain.
Zeke said looking at Felix.
“The will of the Fab Lord will revive the Holy Realm. You are the one who will plant that will here Felix.”
Felix nodded with a firm expression at Zeke’s words.
Felix now had a more knightly look than when we first met.
Just then I heard the door behind me open and someone come in.
“Sir Zeke Draker.”
A clear and refreshing voice rang out.
She was a woman wearing elegant and simple attire and a white veil on her head. Beneath the white veil her mysterious lavender hair flowed.
A halo seemed to shine from a woman who seemed to have some kind of sacredness.
Zik and his men stood up and bowed their heads toward the woman.
The Pope the master of the Holy Nation of Baadoka and the most noble being in the Order of the Sun has appeared.
