A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 323
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 323
Kwakwakwakwang!
Abel was hit by the dragon’s breath and fell down from the air.
Kookookookook!
After flying up and moving for some time his body fell out of the Imperial garrison area and into the ghetto area.
Zeke ran straight to where Abel had fallen.
The place where Abel fell was the site of a village that had been abandoned long ago. The houses made of mud had all collapsed leaving only traces of where people had lived long ago.
After landing in the broken village Zeke looked around to find the fallen Abel.
‘No matter what happens we have to deal with Abel here.’
Zeke summoned his ghost soldiers and made them disperse to find Abel.
Sharing a glance with the Ghost Soldier Zeke was soon able to find Abel’s traces.
‘Never miss it.’
Zeke immediately deployed his flying helmet and flew towards where Abel had fallen.
Kookookookook!
Abel still equipped with Hersion was lying unconscious inside the house where the ceiling had collapsed.
Zeke calmly approached inside holding Bahamut.
After closing the distance to some extent he attacked Abel with the Dragon Claw skill.
Choaaaak!
The dragon’s claws split the mud wall behind Abel.
Quaching!
As the mud wall collapsed a strong cloud of dust rose up obscuring the view.
Just as Zeke was about to move further in a crimson flame grenade flew through the cloud of dust.
Boom!
Zeke raised Bahamut and displayed his will to defend blocking the incoming flame bullets.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The flame grenades scattered in all directions by the power of the honshingi burning the surrounding mud walls with dark red flames.

The fire bullet thrown by Abel was a flame created by power so it could not be stopped by magic or aura.
‘But the power of authority can be blocked with one’s whole body.’
Even Zeke couldn’t figure out how the Honshinki blocked the power.
There would be no way to know the reason unless you went to Nigel who was your teacher in your past life.
‘…The Forest of the Forgotten. I thought I would never go there again in this life.’
While blocking the incoming flame grenades Zeke slowly approached where Abel was.
Then this time a huge black flame rose up towards Zeke and engulfed him.
Kwakwakwakwa!
A powerful storm of flames enveloped Zeke but to no avail.
The flame attack created by Abel’s manifested power could not penetrate the defense of the Honshinki.
Abel staggered up from the rubble as Zeke shook off even the firestorm.
Abel his helmet removed waved his long red hair and his red eyes glowed.
“…Zeke you bastard….”
Unlike before when Hersion had moved himself Abel’s voice was heard.
‘Have you regained consciousness?’
It turned out that Zeke’s guess that Hersion was treating Abel was correct.
However as Zeke slowly approached Abel he noticed that his face had changed strangely.
‘That’s….’
The right side of his face was his original face but the left side had dark red scales.
Unlike when Zigg unfolded his dragon scales it felt like his skin itself had changed.
Zeke realized that Abel was different from the usual tolerance.
‘Is this a side effect of baptism? Or did I receive something other than the dragon’s power?’
Abel frowned slightly and removed the gauntlet on his left hand.
He realized that his left hand was also horribly changed just like his face.
It had dark red scales and sharp claws like those of a demon.
Abel raised his head and glared at Zeke with gleaming red eyes.
“I can never forgive you… I will kill you here and now.”
In that moment a dark red energy rose from Abel’s body.
And then a red pattern slowly appeared on his chest.
It was a different type of pattern than Zig.
‘That’s?’
The pattern that appeared on Abel’s chest gave off an ominous vibe but for some reason it felt familiar to Zeke.
‘That’s… exactly the same energy that first flowed from Bahamut’s heart.’
When Zeke first discovered the Heart of Bahamut in the basement of the library the name it was given was ‘Heart of the Cursed Dragon Bahamut’.
Bahamut who imprisoned the Demon King in his body and then killed himself with the sword of his lover Terracan Draker in order to save the world.
Bahamut’s heart which contained the Demon King’s curse had a powerful curse engraved on it.
Zeke overcame the Curse of the Dragon with his strong mental defense skills but if he hadn’t had the passive skills of the healer class his mind would have been contaminated by the powerful curse engraved on the dragon’s heart.

Zeke now realized that the energy flowing out of Abel’s body was the same cursed energy that flowed out of Gwangryong’s heart.
‘Did Abel also have the heart of the cursed dragon transplanted into his body? If that’s what baptism means…’
Siemens and Narak meant that they could not only summon higher-level demons to the surface but also create dragons by transplanting dragon hearts into humans.
Even though he couldn’t use the system like Hoshigar or Zigg it was something that could grant him enough power to instantly turn a red knight into a black knight.
‘I don’t think we can mass-produce this like Bloodstone though…’
It may not seem like a method that would be acceptable to many but with the help of a constellation like the Riders of Blood and Madness there was no telling what would happen.
Zeke had one more reason to eliminate Abel here.
It sent a chill down my spine to think that Abel Draker the Knight of Madness possessed the heart of a mad dragon.
A massacre more horrible than anything I had ever seen in my past life could have occurred.
Zeke slowly approached Abel deflecting the dragon curse coming from him with his curse reflection.
Then Abel ground his teeth and shouted at Zeke.
“How how are you not affected by my power!”
Abel was now increasingly afraid of the unknown power that Zeke possessed.
It was because his power which he thought was superior to that of humans was completely useless against Zeke.
The shock was enormous as he believed that if he properly used the power he had hidden he could bring not only Ramon Siemens but even Arthur Draker the head of the Draker family to his knees.
Besides Abel didn’t have a strong mentality to begin with.
But when he realized that the power he had believed in was useless against Zeke his mental strength which had been riddled with holes began to crumble at a rapid pace.
The curse engraved on Gwangryong’s heart could not miss that gap.
Dark memories that Abel had locked away deep inside his mind began to pour out and consume him.
“Ugh! Ugh!”
Abel’s breathing gradually became more rapid and soon he broke out in a cold sweat and his face turned pale.
His face became more and more distorted and his skin changed more quickly.
It was not the appearance of a normal person but the appearance of a demon dragon imbued with evil power.
Abel swung his sharp claws at Zeke.
Kwakwakwakwa!
As if using a dragon skill claw marks were carved everywhere and the earthen walls were all destroyed.
But the power was not controlled so the attack went in a different direction than Zigg.
Abel screamed at Zeke clutching his head.
“Kuaaaah!”
Kwakwakwakwa!
His roar sent an invisible force sweeping through parts of the village blowing them away.
“Gasp gasp gasp.”
Abel who used the power of the Demon Dragon in an uncontrolled state felt his body getting heavier and heavier.
Looking at Abel like that Zeke could clearly feel how he would crumble when he held a power he couldn’t handle.
‘It might have been more threatening if Cain had gained this power instead of Abel.’
In his previous life Cain may have gained this dragon’s power without his knowledge.
Because of Zeke’s activities Abel became impatient and was baptized to gain the power of the Black Knight and accepted the power of the Light Dragon but this ended up being the cause of his defeat.
Abel gradually began to see Zeke approaching him like a monster.
Abel bared his teeth and shouted.
“You monster! I will definitely kill you!”
But contrary to his mad voice he was breathing roughly with slight tremors.
Zeke said to Abel.
“Abel if you use that power any longer you will completely lose your reason and become a madman. Stop it and die cleanly as a knight.”
Abel couldn’t hear Zeke’s words at all.
He summoned Zahhak again and swung it at Zeke.
“Die! Die!”
Zeke lifted Bahamut while looking at Abel whose mind had collapsed.
A knight of slaughter who will drive countless people into miserable deaths in the future.
There was no reason to keep him alive.
Zeke took up his sword and breathed the power of his spirit into it.
Woohoo!
Bahamut with the will to cut flew towards Abel.
“I’ll kill you—”
Crunch-
Before Abel could finish speaking his head was cut off and fell to the ground.
thud!
Abel’s decapitated body fell to the floor.
When Zeke saw the fallen Abel he felt various memories flash through his mind.
The faces of many people I had lost in my past life because of Abel and the Empire came to mind.
Zeke picked up Abel’s head which had fallen to the dirt floor and placed it on top of his body.
I intended to melt it all away without a trace using the power of corruption.
It was when Zeke was about to use his power against Abel.
Eeeeeeeing―
The space split apart and Rahim who had the ability to move through space appeared and quickly grabbed Abel’s body.
‘That guy!’
Zeke quickly used his power of corruption.
Tsk tsk tsk―
As soon as the power of corruption was activated a crack appeared in space again and Abel’s body disappeared along with the person with the ability to teleport.
“Damn it!”
Zeke quickly opened his eyes and looked around.
However there was no sign of anyone with teleportation abilities anywhere around.
It must have moved out of his sight.
‘The power of corruption was activated but I’m not sure it would have completely melted Abel’s body.’
Still Abel’s death was definitely confirmed.
Even if it was the abyss there would be no way to revive the dead so the goal was achieved.
It may be possible to resurrect him as a Death Knight but if all he had was force he wasn’t much of a threat to Zeke. As a Draker Abel was dead so he was satisfied.
‘Now that Abel is dead the Draker family will have Sister Kali as their successor. The Empire won’t be able to start a war so easily.’
Still for some reason an awkward feeling remained in a corner of my heart.
Because I was really worried that Abel’s body wasn’t completely disposed of.
But then he got a call from Richmond and Zeke had to shake off his uneasy feeling.
‘Master!’
Zeke responded to Richmond’s urgent voice.
‘What’s going on Richmond?’
‘The tyrant was so strong that he collapsed the fortress allowing the monsters to enter the garrison.’
The power of the tyrant Balrog who had become a dragon was beyond imagination.
Although the empire’s castle-building skills were excellent they were not enough to withstand the attacks of the tyrant who bombed from the air.
Zeke remembered that the second prince first in line for the imperial succession was staying in the fortress.
‘If the Second Prince is here… it would be like having one more card to put pressure on the Empire.’
Zeke ordered Richmond to hold off the Imperial forces and then summoned Bucephalus.
“Let’s go Bucephalus.”
Zeke flew straight towards the fortress.
* * *
thud!
Ramon Siemens entered the baptismal chamber located in the Siemens underground labyrinth.
“Where are you?”
The head of Siemens’ strategy headquarters spoke to Ramon with a pale face.
“It is on the altar.”
Ramon climbed up the steps to the altar with a stern expression.
Below the altar Rahim was leaning against the wall gasping for breath half of his body melted away by the power of corruption from Zeke.
Ramon looked at Rahim like that and snapped his fingers.
So surprisingly the power of corruption that was melting Rahim’s body disappeared.
“Gasp gasp.”
Freed from the power of corruption Rahim took the potion from his bosom drank it and sprinkled it on his melting wound.
Cheeeeeeek―
When the potion touched the melted skin it bubbled.
Ramon gestured to the chief and the agents who understood his intentions came and helped Rahim out of the baptism room.
Ramon left alone approached the altar and looked at Abel’s body lying on the stone steps.
Abel’s half-melted face and body still bore the marks of having become a dragon.
Tsk tsk tsk―
Because of the power of corruption Abel’s body was also slowly decaying.
Ramon looked at this and reached out towards Abel’s body.
Then as if time had been turned back Abel’s decaying body began to change back to its original form.
The dragon’s condition remained the same but its fallen neck was reattached to its body.
But that doesn’t mean Abel’s dead body woke up.
Ramon stared blankly at Abel and then gazed into a dark corner.
As if responding to his gaze the apostle slowly walked out of there.
As Ramon raised his hand toward him an invisible energy enveloped the apostle’s body.
“Ugh.”
The apostle’s body was dragged away on its own and Ramon grabbed his neck.
Ramon glared at the apostle holding him by the scruff of the neck.
“Call the priest. Right now.”
