A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 319
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 319
“Stop them!”
A tall knight wielding a massive longbow shouted at the Imperial garrison soldiers atop the fortress.
Every time she drew her longbow monsters climbing over the barrier would scream and fall.
Daria Calvi the knight of the Inmagung Palace looked around with cold eyes.
‘You dirty monsters dare…’
The Imperial garrison camp set up on the outskirts of the ghetto area was under attack by monsters.
Next to her the second prince Leo was encouraging the soldiers.
“All of you come together! Those evil monsters will not be able to overcome the sacred wolf banner!”
Daria who was dispatched as a garrison to protect the Second Prince had a duty to somehow bring him safely back to the Empire.
The problem was the monsters that surrounded the entire camp.
‘The empire’s wizards assured us that monsters could not invade this place…’
The imperial wizards boasted that the special magic circle they created would keep monsters from coming towards the garrison.
That is why it was possible for the second prince who was first in line for succession to come here for inspection.
But from the day her legion arrived at the fortress dark clouds suddenly gathered in the sky fog filled the surroundings and countless monsters began to surge forward without end.
Daria shouted at the vice-captain while firing arrows at the monsters.
“Prepare the knights! Go out and wipe out the monsters yourself!”
No matter how many monsters there were they were no match for well-armed knights.
The vice-captain bowed his head to Daria’s command.
“Understood Commander.”
The vice-captain went down to the wall and shouted to the knights waiting.
“I’ll go and wipe them all out!”
The knights of the Incarnate Archers armed with bows and spears rode out on horseback outside the garrison fortress.
Doo doo doo doo doo!
Unlike other knightly orders in the Empire the Knights of the Inmagung are made up of knights of commoner origin.
This is because they were a knight order that handled bows which ordinary knights did not handle well.

Originally it was the most persecuted and discriminated against among the 13th Legion but after the outstanding knight Daria Calvi became the Legion Commander her outstanding achievements and treatment greatly improved compared to before.
However even so within the empire the Knights of the Inmagung were often ignored as a commoner’s order.
As such the knights of the Inmagung Palace were loyal to their commander Daria.
Shushu shuk!
The knights of the Inmagung Palace fired arrows at the monsters and the monsters that were hit by them fell down all at once.
As soon as the Knights were deployed the atmosphere changed.
The monsters that had been rushing in in a black swarm began to hesitate and retreat.
Daria Calvi who was watching this from the castle wall glared sharply.
‘Something is strange.’
The number of monsters rushing towards the garrison must have been in the thousands but the number of monsters directly attacking seemed to be much smaller.
Daria Calvi held her longbow and fired arrows at the monsters across the wasteland.
Hooooooooooo!
The arrow she fired was filled with aura and flew across the wasteland.
Kwakwakwang!
An arrow filled with aura struck and caused an explosion.
Daria Calvi heard the explosion and deduced the surroundings where the arrow had flown.
‘There was no sound of the monster exploding. That must be illusion magic.’
She saw through the illusion of the bloodline power that Bisco had spread and immediately realized that the number of monsters was inflated.
But even so it was unclear why the monsters were flocking towards the garrison area and not the ghetto area.
She spoke to the garrison commander nearby.
“I heard there’s a Red Lion Sword here. Morgan the person in charge is missing but Red Lion Sword should know about this situation. Find him quickly.”
The garrison commander nodded with a frozen face having heard of Daria Calvi’s sharp temper.
“Oh I understand Commander.”
While the garrison commander went to find Abel Daria spoke to Leo next to her.
“Your Majesty those monsters will be subdued soon. Don’t worry and come inside.”
She also knew that Leo had great talent as a knight but the battlefield was always dangerous.
Even the most excellent knights were often killed by blind arrows.
In response to Daria’s words Leo drew his sword and spoke.
“How could a monarch be the first to leave when the legion commanders knights and soldiers are fighting for their lives?”
Daria usually had high regard for Leo’s sense of justice but it was of little help in the current situation.
If Leo were to die here the empire would surely be thrown into chaos again with the fight for succession.
Daria spoke to Leo recalling Rom which had been noisy with the fierce conflict between the First Prince Faction and the Second Prince Faction not long ago.
“A monarch must value his own life above all else. If Your Majesty falls the entire empire will be shaken…”
But then it happened.
I saw something flying in the sky.
Kururururung!
A giant dragon was flying through the thunderous clouds flapping its four pairs of wings.

Kwaaaaah!
Even the monsters trembled in fear as the Drago Lich with its black horns and ferocious red eyes let out a roar.
Daria frowned and grabbed her longbow.
Leo was also surprised and tightly gripped the sword in his hand.
A blue lightning bolt blasted from his herzion.
“Commander. If my eyes are not deceiving me… isn’t that a dragon?”
Daria spoke calmly at Leo’s words.
“The enemy is currently mixing monsters and illusions to confuse our side. It is possible that those are illusions as well…”
Kwaaaaah!
In an instant a huge black flame burst out from Drago Lich’s mouth.
Kwakwakwakwa!
Black flames poured down toward the garrison wall.
Whoosh whoosh!
The black flames melted not only the soldiers on the walls but even the solid stones.
Daria clenched her molars at the sight.
“…That looks real. It looks more like a dragon-like monster than a dragon.”
In an instant Drago Lich turned and began flying towards Daria and Leo.
Kwaaaaah!
Black flames erupted from Dragorich’s mouth once again.
Daria picked up her bow and shot an arrow at Drago Rich.
Push!
The arrow she shot hit Drago Richie’s eye squarely.
Kwaaaaaaaah!
Drago Lich roared and ascended higher into the sky.
Daria grabbed Leo’s shoulder as she watched the Drago Lich circling across the sky.
“Your Majesty it can be dangerous to be in high places when there are flying monsters. Please go down first.”
Leo nodded at Daria’s words.
“Okay.”
As Leo and Daria descended the walls the soldiers had already set up their anti-aircraft weapons. They immediately began firing their crossbows and magic cannons at Drago Lich.
Kwakwakwang!
Magic cannons and crossbows flew into the sky.
But Drago Lich dodged the attack leisurely by spinning in the air.
On top of Drago Lich Zeke and Richmond were standing observing the situation of the Imperial garrison.
“Tyrant go behind me.”
Zeke gave the name of Balrog the master of the horns to his summoned servant Drago Lich.
Drago Lich summoned by Richmond with the horns and teeth of Balrog transformed into bloodstone and dragons was reborn as a summoned creature as powerful as the main tyrant.
With such a tyrant at his side Zeke used Bisco’s bloodline ability and the high-level dream demon Pan’s illusion to create an illusion of a large army of monsters rushing in putting pressure on the imperial garrison.
‘Daria Calvi a knight of the Inmagung Palace.’
Zeke had encountered Daria Calvi in person in his past life.
The woman I met on the battlefield was a rare figure among knights of the empire who had rightfully earned her place through her own abilities.
‘I remember that things weren’t very good when Abel took over as commander-in-chief of the Imperial Army.’
When Abel committed merciless massacres and other evil deeds Daria Calvi criticized his actions and even deserted the battlefield refusing to follow orders.
The Northern Alliance where Zeke was tried to persuade Daria Calvi to defect from the Imperial Army and presented her with several conditions but she refused outright.
It was because he refused the orders of Commander-in-Chief Abel and did not betray the Empire.
Zeke wondered whether Daria Calvi would have made the same decision if she had known all about the Empire’s atrocities.
‘Perhaps we could even draw out the Empire’s great power.’
Zeke drove his tyrant around the Imperial camp.
That was when.
“Master! Something is coming!”
A black flock of winged demons was seen swarming from the sky.
Zeke looked at the demons and stroked the tyrant’s nape.
“Go and show your power tyrant.”
Krrrrrr—
At Zeke’s words the tyrant flapped his wings vigorously.
Harpy-like demons flew toward the tyrant.
Soon the tyrant opened his mouth towards them and poured out black flames.
Whoosh whoosh!
All the demons caught in the flames poured out by the tyrant were turned to ashes and scattered.
Other demons who had escaped the range of the flames began to slowly retreat overwhelmed by the tyrant’s momentum.
But the tyrant did not let the demons escape.
Kahaaaaak!
The tyrant flew quickly snatching the demons with his sharp claws tearing them apart and biting them with his teeth.
The demons were merely sacrificial lambs for the tyrant.
Zeke looked satisfied at the sight of this tyrant’s power.
‘I guess we should leave the air to the tyrant.’
Zeke said to Richmond.
“Richmond keep pressuring the Empire here.”
“Okay I understand.”
Zig equipped with Hersion jumped down from the Tyrant’s body.
Zeke’s appearance while using the stealth skill was completely invisible to others.
He infiltrated the Imperial garrison camp in this way secretly.
* * *
“Where is the Red Lion Sword?”
When the person in charge who went to find Abel did not come Daria went straight to the barracks where he was staying.
Then the knights guarding the barracks blocked Daria’s approach.
“You cannot come in here.”
At those words Daria took a step forward.
“That’s funny. This is the Imperial Army’s camp. There’s no place I the Legion Commander can’t enter.”
The momentum of Daria who had the Black Knight right in front of her was too much for the ordinary knights to handle.
The knights stepped back hesitantly sweat dripping down their faces.
The barracks door opened as Daria and the knights of the Red Lion Knights were facing off.
“The knight of the Inmagung has arrived.”
Abel appeared with his red hair fluttering.
Only when Abel came out did the knights retreat.
Daria looked at Abel and said.
“Red Lion Sword. I demand an explanation of what is happening now.”
Abel chuckled at those words.
“As the commander said this is the Empire’s camp. But why are you asking me about this situation?”
Daria frowned at Abel’s words.
“Abel Drake I understand that you and Morgan Buffon the Knight of the Archers were in charge of the Ghetto area. With Morgan Buffon missing you are the only one who knows about this situation.”
Abel could sense the hostility towards him in Daria’s eyes.
‘They don’t know if we released the monsters but they seem to have noticed that we’re doing something here.’
Morgan Buffon was a member of the Intelligence Service’s 13th Office which handled all sorts of dirty work for the Empire.
It might have been natural for Daria who valued chivalry despite being of commoner origin to detest him.
Abel looked at Daria and said.
“I don’t know what you want to hear. Are you curious as to why monsters that would never attack the Empire attacked?”
At those words Daria’s eyes shook greatly.
She continued calmly.
“The wizards said that monsters would not approach our side. But now someone is using illusion magic to deceive our eyes and even mobilize dragon-shaped demons to attack the Imperial Army. This is a clear provocation against the Imperial Army…”
“The commander of the Imperial Legion talks a lot.”
At Abel’s words Daria Calvi frowned and picked up her bow.
“Abel Draker. Even if you are Draker’s Guardian Knight insulting the Empire is…!”
Daria couldn’t continue speaking.
Kookookookookook!
Because of the momentum that Abel gave off I couldn’t even move my body.
Her fingertips trembled slightly.
Abel looked down at Daria and said.
“If you move even a little bit… you die. Daria Calvi.”
