A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 306
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 306
‘That’s a lot.’
As he left the autonomous region and entered the canyon Zeke stuck out his tongue at the sight of a group of monsters gathered together.
Even in the Giant Mountains known as the monster paradise I have never seen so many different types of monsters gathered together in one place.
What was even more strange was that monsters that were in conflict with each other were moving together in groups.
‘Even though they say he’s brainwashed there are more than a few strange things.’
Zeke felt the need to investigate the interior of the canyon before heading to the isolated old castle.
As he entered the canyon in hiding monsters that had gone berserk gathered in groups of three or four and were wandering around the area.
Wow wow wow―
Zeke looked at the monsters up close and realized that there was something strange and unexpected about them.
‘These guys… aren’t ordinary monsters?’
When I saw them from afar I didn’t know they were just a group but when I looked closely I saw that the monsters’ appearances were different from normal monsters.
While regular orcs usually have dark green skin the orcs here were of various colors.
There were blue-skinned orcs and even pink-skinned orcs.
Zeke pondered then exited the canyon and carefully summoned Richmond.
Woohoo!
Richmond rose from Zeke’s shadow.
“What is it master?”
Zig pointed to the monsters in the canyon and said.
“Look at those guys over there in Richmond.”
Richmond gasped in surprise as he surveyed the monsters in the canyon.
“My lord… that….”
“Do you know what it is?”
Richmond nodded his eyes shining with curiosity.
“I’ve only seen those monsters in records. So… they’re definitely monsters summoned from the Demon World during the Demon King’s invasion during the era of the King of Heroes.”
“Monsters summoned from the demon world?”

I couldn’t understand why monsters that had died two thousand years ago suddenly appeared in this valley.
Richmond’s eyes sparkled as he looked at the pink oak.
“Wow that species is truly rare… Master can you go and catch one for me?”
“If you do that I can’t take responsibility if all the other monsters attack you.”
Richmond looked sullen at Zeke’s words.
Zeke ignored Richmond and asked while looking at the ancient monsters that seemed to number in the hundreds.
“Then does it seem like the Empire summoned those monsters back from the Demon Realm?”
Then Richmond hesitated and shook his head.
“It takes the same amount of power to summon a monster from the Demon World or a demon but if it were possible to summon from the Demon World I don’t think they would have bothered summoning a monster.”
“Are you saying that it is inefficient?”
“That’s right. At that time rather than saying that the demon world’s monsters were summoned separately it would be more accurate to say that in the process of summoning lower-level demons the monsters that the demons commanded were brought along.”
“Then what happened to those guys?”
Richmond said scratching his head.
“The most likely possibility is… that the monsters that came over back then were sealed and then awakened again…”
Something clicked for Zeke as he listened to Richmond.
‘Orcs were also brought out from the Forest of the Forgotten. There is no reason why they cannot be brought out just because they are monsters.’
It could be that they took ancient monsters from the Forest of the Forgotten brainwashed them with stimulants and released them throughout the ghetto area leaving a waiting group here.
‘If it’s the Forest of the Forgotten it’s not too far from here. If it’s the Empire they’d be able to do something like this.’
If it was an empire that Zeke knew it would have been quite possible for them to release an army of ancient monsters into enemy territory and cause chaos.
One thing that was puzzling was that in the previous life the Empire did not release monsters to isolate its enemies.
‘Did something change when I regressed?’
Using high-risk monsters came with its own set of risks.
With many of his plans going awry because of Zeke he may have used the monster army he had prepared as a last resort even at the risk of losing it.
Zeke decided to send Richmond back and investigate the situation further in the canyon.
Contrary to his expectations there was nothing special inside the canyon except for rabid monsters.
‘Is the intention to deploy the monsters first and then gradually apply pressure?’
The ghetto area bordered Delfoa and Alencia Baranaon.
After subduing the Join tribe and releasing these monsters to the next invasion site the Imperial Army which is the peacekeeping force will naturally have a reason to enter that territory.
In that way it was clear that the Empire planned to swallow up the entire Central Continent.
‘Those damn bastards. I don’t know whose idea it was but they’re incredibly vicious.’
After escaping the canyon filled with monsters Zeke looked for a path leading to the old castle.
First of all I had no choice but to leave the monsters behind and go to the old castle.
This was because if he touched it wrong and the Empire noticed Zeke’s movements Abel might not show up.
Zeke turned towards the old castle that was still isolated.

Helen Draker drew another stick on the wall of the fortress.
The total number of sticks today is 35.

That meant it had been 35 days since he had been trapped here.
‘We’re going to run out of food soon.’
Helen’s expression couldn’t help but be dark after being locked in the fortress for several weeks.
When she entered the ghetto area with Carly’s letter the Crouching Flame Song and Crosstel’s Big Joe looked rather wary.
After much persuasion they agreed to meet at an old fortress within the ghetto area.
Helen and a few knights escorting her the Join warriors led by the Crouching Flame Song and the Crosstel gangsters brought by Big Joe gathered at the fortress called the Old Castle.
Just as the meeting inside the fortress was about to begin high-risk monsters suddenly appeared.
An army of monsters that appeared from unknown sources attacked the fortress.
Helen and the Join tribe Crosstel joined forces to block the first wave of monsters that attacked but the attack did not end there.
They barely managed to hold out in the fortress holding off the endless waves of monsters.
Since it was originally a place for meetings there was no food stored separately inside the fortress.
They held on by using every possible means including slaughtering and eating the horses they rode on and drinking only the top water from polluted water drawn from an old well.
But my physical and mental strength were already completely exhausted.
In particular the Zun and Suin tribes had a harder time enduring it because they ate more than humans.
There was a limit to eating horses so they roamed around the fortress and even ate rats and lizards but this also had its limits.
‘We have to hold out somehow until rescue arrives.’
The problem was the imperial garrison outside the ghetto area.
They called themselves peacekeepers and were controlling and blocking outside entry into the ghetto area under the pretext of high-risk monsters appearing.
Moreover if the Knights of Kali the Gangsters of Crosstel or the Warriors of the Join Tribe tried to force their way in the Imperial garrison would certainly try to use that as an excuse to enter the ghetto area.
Helen put a piece of dried beef jerky in her mouth chewed it for as long as she could and then swallowed it.
My hunger was just a little relieved but I couldn’t go on like this forever.
That was when.
“Something is coming from in front of you Captain.”
Helen got up and climbed up onto the fortress walls.
Something was seen running through the monsters gathered behind the fortress.
‘That’s?’
To their surprise a knight was riding a horse and swinging a huge slashing sword towards the fortress.
Choaaaah!
Every time the knight swung his sword all the monsters that stood in his way were cut down.
The knight who had been running like a storm had already slaughtered all the monsters and reached the front of the fortress.
He shouted toward the fortress.
“I have a message from Carly Draker!”
Helen heard the knight’s voice and knew who he was.
‘Zeke?’
Zeke had personally fought his way through the monsters to get here.
Helen ran down the wall to open the fortress gate.
Then the men guarding the gate rose and stood up to block Helen.
“Hey humans. You’d better stay still.”
As the gangsters who were probably twice Helen’s size blocked their way the knights of the Steel Knights behind them stepped forward.
“I am the knight who brought the message of Carly Draker! Open the door now!”
At those words the gangsters spat and said:
“How would I know if it’s you or the Empire’s lackeys? And what if I open the door and monsters come rushing in?”
Everyone was on edge because they hadn’t eaten properly.
Helen pushed the knights away and took a step forward.
“The knight outside is my blood relative. I can guarantee that he is not an enemy so open the door.”
The Suin gangsters flinched at the words of Helen Draker known as the Steel Knight.
Even though she was smaller than them they knew very well how much power she wielded.
But then one of the people who had been lying down with his legs stretched out behind him slowly got up.
“Fuck I’m already hungry why are you guys acting like this?”
The water being that had raised its body was a tiger water being that was larger than the other water beings.
The tiger man dressed like a mercenary cleared his throat and looked at Helen and spoke.
“Hey human woman. If you don’t want to get screwed then back off. I’m hungry right now and in a bad mood.”
Tiger Suin was the leader of the Crosstel Gangster’s assault team and was a Suin with strength and agility that made most knights no match for him.
Helen said to the assault leader.
“Open the door. Otherwise….”
“Otherwise? What? What are you going to do?”
As the tiger’s mane bared its teeth its eyes glowed with the beast’s characteristic glare.
Helen saw the leader of the assault team and grabbed the dragon buster he was carrying on his back.
Since I knew that the person standing outside was Zeke I had to open the door somehow.
When Helen caught the Dragon Buster the other beasts behind her were confused.
“Captain. Are you really going to fight? Big Joe told us never to fight each other.”
Then the leader of the assault team looked at the other soldiers and said.
“What the big Joe! You insolent human woman. That’s good. I’m already hungry so I’ll cut off your arm and eat it.”
As the assault leader stepped forward with his claws raised Helen also drew her Dragon Burst and confronted him.
The leader of the assault team who had his sharp claws out rushed at Helen first.
Boom!
Quick and powerful attacks using Suin’s unique elastic body poured down on Helen.
Helen blocked the assault leader’s attack with the Dragon Buster.
Phew!
Helen swung her Dragon Buster at the tiger man.
He quickly backed away from the threatening attack baring his teeth and exuding a threatening air.
“How dare you…rip off not just an arm but even a leg…”
Phew!
The furious tiger man was hit by the sharp sword that fell from the air before he could finish his words and was blown away.
Kwakwakwakwakwang!
The leader of the flying assault team rolled on the ground like a puppet with its strings cut and then crashed into the wall.
thud!
The knight who had blown away the tiger seal with one blow using the True Demon Sword rose up.
The other people looked at him and their mouths opened wide.
“That’s ridiculous. How could you jump over this wall….”
Zig who had taken off his helmet glared at the man pinned to the wall with fierce eyes.
“How dare you put your dirty fingernails on my sister.”
He turned his head and looked at the crowd and said.
“My name is Zeke Draker. I am the master of the Black Sword Knights and the agent of Kali Draker.”
His eyes shone sharply.
“Go and bring me the song of the crouching flame and Big Joe.”
