A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 299
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 299
Taugar who was tearing off the Ogre King’s arm glared at the wizard and said.
“The victor eating the body of the vanquished is a very important ritual of battle. Interfering with the warrior’s ritual will only result in death.”
Despite Tau’s threats the wizard continued speaking without any hesitation.
“The mountain army has come back to life.”
At the wizard’s words Taugar threw away the arm he was eating and raised his body.
“It’s a mountain man. It’s not good for your health to eat an old bear that has been boiled for a long time. I’ll go and cut off its head.”
Then the wizard shook his head.
“Sangun is a divine being that has been in this mountain range for thousands of years. I cut off the mountain range’s veins to weaken its power and I tried to sweep it away with the druids while taking advantage of that gap… A few days ago a golden energy swept through the entire mountain range and at that time Sangun’s power returned to its original state.”
Tau yawned and ground his teeth as the wizard’s explanation grew longer.
“You humans always talk too much. Get out of my way. Anyway I’ll just go and cut off that old bear’s head.”
The wizard frowned at Tau’s words.
“No that’s not something that can be said so easily…”
That was when.
Suddenly the orcs in the village became noisy.
Taugar shouted at those orcs.
“What’s going on? Why is there such a fuss?”
At his shout an armored orc rushed towards the Taugar.
“Captain! There are intruders!”
Taugar chuckled at the mention of an intruder.
“An intruder. Is that guy called San-gun?”
The wizard shook his head at those words.
“No it can’t be the mountain army. Tau wait for now. First figure out who the enemies are….”
Taugar did not listen to the wizard’s words and shouted at his subordinates.
“Bring me my armor! I will personally capture and identify who dared invade our fortress.”
The wizard sighed as he watched Taugar move as he pleased.

‘Those damn orcs.’
He was a wizard who lamented his situation of being stuck in the Ogre Mountains where he was assigned to a place in charge of ill-tempered orcs and suffered all kinds of hardships.
‘I must report this situation to my superiors first.’
The wizard shook his head as he watched the orcs rush forward weapons drawn and shouting and headed to the situation room.
The ogre settlement consisted of digging into solid stone walls making caves inside and living in family units. The ogres who had become slaves to the orcs were locked in cages and the wizard had set up camp in one of the ogre caves and was using it as a situation room.
The wizard entered the tent set up as a situation room and took out the crystal ball that was placed inside the chest.
He tried to breathe magic into the crystal ball and contact the higher-ups but the crystal ball only made a crackling noise and did not connect properly.
“Why is this not working? Seriously please distribute this properly. Anyway you bastards from the Budget Department.”
Just as the wizard was about to raise his hand and tap the crystal ball.
He suddenly stopped breathing at the sharp sensation in his throat.
‘Oh when did that happen…’
The wizard who was caught from behind without any warning was on the verge of fainting.
“Jek said holding Annexy’s dagger and following the wizard’s back.
“I wondered where they came from and they’re from the Empire. Are they from the 13th Division of the Information Bureau?”
Office 13 of the Information Bureau was where Boris had previously worked.
A department within an intelligence agency that carries out covert espionage activities that only deals with confidential information that cannot be revealed to the outside world.
The wizards of Room 13 were occupying the ogre village together with the orcs here.
After Zeke tied the wizard up with chains he brought a chair and sat down in front of him.
He said looking at the wizard.
“I won’t say anything. Tell me everything you know. Then I’ll let you go without any pain.”
Because Room 13 was a department that only handled top secret information the people assigned to it had something special about them.
Clumsy persuasion didn’t work.
“I’ll tell you everything so please spare my life!”
‘…!’
Because of that Zeke was rather surprised by the wizard’s reaction which was different from what he had expected.
‘What? Wasn’t that the guy from Room 13?’
It felt completely different from the time of Boris.
Zeke looked at the wizard and asked.
“Okay first I’ll ask if you’re from Room 13.”
The wizard nodded vigorously.
“That’s right. Room 13.”
“….”
Zeke hesitated for a moment at the sight of the Imperial Intelligence Agency’s top-secret department looking so lax.
‘Is this an act to lower the credibility of the information?’
I thought about it from various angles but I couldn’t find a reason for the intelligence agency to do that.
The wizard looked at Zeke who was troubled by the sight of him and cried to himself.
“Damn it… I knew it from the moment I was assigned here. It was all doomed…”

Zeke asked the wizard who seemed to have given up.
“Isn’t it true that you were assigned to room 13 not that long ago?”
The wizard nodded.
“Yes? Yes. Actually I was originally a signalman in the Imperial Magic Corps but I was suddenly drafted and assigned here.”
Originally intelligence agency agents were selected from the beginning with their qualifications tested and trained through strict training.
Moreover if you were assigned to Room 13 you would have to go through a much more rigorous training process than regular agents.
It was just too strange to assign a wizard who didn’t even have basic intelligence training to a place that only handled secret missions.
Zeke thought of one possibility.
‘There may be something wrong within the intelligence agency.’
In his experience maintaining an intelligence department required a lot of capital and a patient department head.
If even one of these two was lacking the intelligence department would be shaken.
The Imperial Intelligence Service was a massive operation requiring enormous amounts of money.
Since the nature of the intelligence unit involves many connections with various government agencies there must have been complicated circumstances scattered within it.
There is always room for problems to arise.
Zeke said looking at the wizard.
“Tell me what your mission here is.”
The wizard spoke in a trembling voice.
“The reason I came here is…..”
Push!
At that moment a poisonous needle flew from somewhere.
Zeke reached out and blocked the poisonous dart flying towards the wizard with his palm.
It was coated with a deadly poison that would kill within seconds if touched.
Zeke swung his sword straight towards the direction from which the poisonous needle had come.
Choaaaak!
A sword strike blew away one side of the tent.
The man in black who was hit by Zeke’s sword clutched his wound and tried to run into the cave.
But the ghost soldiers summoned by Zeke had already stopped the man in black.
Whee!
As the ghost soldier revealed itself and passed through cutting the black-clad man’s thigh he fell down without moving his legs.
As befitting an agent of the Imperial Intelligence Service he attempted suicide by ingesting poison.
But Zeke’s movements were faster.
“Recovery.”
Zeke holding Roland cured the poisoned black man and even healed his wounds.
The man in black who had clearly been poisoned looked at Zeke in confusion when he regained consciousness.
Zeke dragged the black man with chains towards the wizard.
He tied the wizard and the man in black side by side to chairs took off the man in black’s mask and asked the wizard.
“Do you know this face?”
The wizard nodded in surprise at the sight of the man in black.
“Yes yes. They are agents who usually come to deliver messages from the higher-ups or bring supplies.”
Zik grabbed the black man’s chin and said.
“You must be an agent from Room 13. Unlike that guy you’re a properly trained agent.”
At those words the man in black glared at Zeke.
This time I tried to bite my tongue and die but Zeke healed me again so it was no use.
Zeke asked the man in black.
“What happened in Room 13 that you had to deploy outside personnel?”
The man in black kept his mouth tightly shut.
If he was an agent of Room 13 there was a high chance that no matter how much torture was done he would not get a proper answer.
Zeke opened his bloodshot eyes towards the man in black.
“Look at this.”
The 13th room agent with bloodshot eyes trembled.
But because of the ban on brainwashing he ended up foaming at the mouth and collapsing.
Zeke shook his head as he looked at the 13th room agent with his eyes rolled back white.
“Anyway those imperial bastards. I wonder what they’ve done to my head.”
Zeke used his shadow control to read the information left in the shadow of the fallen 13th Room agent.
By linking with the dragon’s senses I was able to extract more clear information than before.
‘The head of Room 13 has changed? Why did they suddenly change the person with the authority? Wait… The Emperor. Has something changed in the Emperor’s personal life?’
Zeke searched further into Agent 13’s memories but was unable to find any details.
What we found out was that there had been a change in the Emperor’s personal life and that there had been a major personnel reshuffle within the Intelligence Service. The new head of Office 13 had brought in outside personnel and the atmosphere within the Intelligence Service was in turmoil.
‘This guy also has a lot of complaints about the new director. Since they’re bringing in outside personnel to Room 13 which is supposed to operate secretly the existing agents can’t help but feel threatened about their safety.’
There existing agents were feeling extremely tired from the excessive workload they had to monitor external personnel.
Zeke was able to learn from the information he received from Agent 13 that there was a gap in the Imperial Intelligence Service.
‘If you do anything in a hurry there will be a gap. I should tell Boris to poke around here and find out what’s going on in the Empire.’
Zeke who had already melted the dead agent into rot turned his head towards the wizard.
The wizard’s face turned pale as he saw the agent completely melted by Zeke’s power.
“Please spare my life! I will do whatever you ask.”
“Let’s finish what we were talking about earlier. Tell me what you were doing here.”
“Orcs I have been ordered to take those Orcs and take over the Ogre settlement!”
“I know that because I see the situation. Tell me how you brought the orcs and what you plan to do with the ogres you’ve captured.”
The wizard opened his mouth trembling at Zeke’s words.
“I don’t know exactly either but…”
“Hmm?”
As Zeke glared the wizard shook his head and peed himself.
“No! I don’t know where those dirty orcs came from but they said they were going to tame the ogres and send them into battle!”
“You’re taming ogres?”
“Yes! The Orcs said that if they captured them they would use drugs to brainwash them and send them into battle.”
When Zeke heard the wizard’s words something occurred to him.
‘The stimulant the Empire was experimenting with. They’re trying to apply it to ogres.’
The mercenaries Boris experimented with also went crazy after being injected with stimulants.
If the ogres were to be exposed to that stimulant it was clear that they would become a dangerous biological weapon that would be incomparable to that of the mercenaries.
Zeke also seemed to know what the Empire intended to do with the brainwashed ogres.
‘Join Ghetto. They are clearly planning to release ogres there destroy the Join camp and then enter under the pretense of being peacekeepers and shamelessly take over the ghetto.’
Since hunting monsters was enough of a justification to station troops the empire was able to find an excuse to enter the territory while dealing with the Zuin tribe without engaging in any combat.
Zeke who had figured out the empire’s conspiracy to some extent looked at the wizard and said.
“What is the total size of the Orc force in the Ogre Mountains?”
“This is my entire unit. It consists of 144 members.”
The size of the orc force was larger than expected.
No matter how intelligent the ogres were to the point of forming a village they were no match for trained orc warriors.
Zeke nodded at the wizard’s answer.
“Okay that was a very good answer.”
The wizard smiled at his words.
“Then will you spare my life as promised?”
“I will keep my promise.”
“Thank you…..”
Before he could finish speaking Zeke’s dagger slit the wizard’s throat.
The wizard’s neck was cut off without pain just as Zeke had promised.
After Zeke processed the wizard’s body through decay he gathered all the materials that remained in the camp.
By chance I caught the tail of the empire.
‘I guess I’ll release the ogres to cause more confusion.’
It was when Zig who had packed everything he needed was leaving the cave while still in hiding.
Pavabak!
An arrow like a spear flew towards Zig.
Zeke struck the arrow with his sword and looked around to see to his surprise Orc warriors surrounding the outside of the cave.
