    Episode 291

When I opened the box I found a blue crystal ball and a badge of a shape I had never seen before inside.

    “What is this?”

    Zeke examined the badge first.

There was a sun-symbolizing emblem at the entrance to the dungeon but the emblem inside the chest had a different shape.

    ‘Is this the moon?’

Inside the box was a symbol of the moon not the sun.

Zeke looked at the information about the Moon Emblem with his eyes.

    [Failed to retrieve information.]

‘The system can’t find the information. What is it?’

Zeke looked at the moon emblem and guessed that it might be related to Theia the goddess of the moon.

‘They say the temple of the goddess Theia was in Rom. If we go there we might be able to find out something.’

Zig took the moon badge and looked into the information in the blue crystal ball.

―Information on the Eternal Ice Palace―

Description: The essence of cold air that has solidified over ten thousand years.

    Unique Ability: Undecided.

    Special Note: Currently disabled.

“Eternal iceberg? I’ve never seen anything like it.”

It is still inactive so its unique abilities have not yet been revealed.

First Zig put the ice cube in his inventory.

Then I defeated the Snow Queen and opened the special random box I received as a reward.

Inside the box was a black cloak with a soft sheen.

    – Cloak Information –

Description: A cloak that can block all types of cold and heat and can also block attacks from flying objects.

Unique Ability: Invincible to Hanseo and invincible to swords.

Special Features: Good elasticity. Owned by Jerome Lloyd the Knight of Wise.

Zeke was surprised to see the information on the cloak.

‘If you are the wise knight Jerome Lloyd you are one of the knights of the clock tower.’

Jerome one of the twelve knights of the King of Heroes was a great help in the founding of the Kingdom of Kronos with his wise advice.

Zeke smiled with satisfaction at the sight of Jerome’s cloak.

“It can block attacks and block cold and heat. That would be incredibly useful.”

Zeke looked satisfied and put on Jerome’s cloak.

I liked how it clung to my body was comfortable to wear and maintained an appropriate temperature.

It also had the ability to make swords invincible so it seemed like it would be sufficient for defense.

After checking all the item information Zigg spoke to Richmond.

“Look around Richmond to see if there are any other roads.”

Richmond was adept at finding his way through the natural labyrinths of the Hoshigar Lab.

He nodded took out his cane waved it back and forth and then headed back.

“I feel something coming from this side.”

It was Richmond pointing to a place filled with snow and ice.

Zeke started a fire that instantly melted the snow and ice there.

As his proficiency with the Elemental Sword increased Zigg was able to control its power to a certain extent.

    Gulp!

As the accumulated snow and ice melted the door hidden behind it was revealed.

Zeke approached the door and opened it this time manually changing the system so that it could be opened and closed again.

Inside the door a hallway stretched out again.

‘I guess the Great Mage’s laboratory is over here.’

I couldn’t just come all the way here and leave the Great Mage’s laboratory behind.

Moreover since he had found and opened the door Zeke had to take the Great Mage’s Legacy first before Nirvana could explore it.

He walked down the hallway with Richmond without hesitation.

Unlike the place before there was no cold air flowing.

Zeke who was looking around with a puzzled expression discovered traces of water left all over the hallway.

‘Is it because you defeated the Snow Queen?’

It seemed that with the disappearance of the sealed Snow Queen the cold-attribute monsters that had been staying here also disappeared.

    Then Richmond said to Zeke.

“Master come to think of it it’s the ancient relic I told you about.”

“Ancient relics what do you mean?”

“Yes? I told you back then. I said I discovered a strange ancient relic in the Undead Labyrinth.”

It seemed like what Richmond was mumbling about when Zeke cut off the message was an ancient relic.

He nodded as if he knew.

“Oh that’s what you’re talking about. Yeah the ancient relic. What’s that about?”

“I think the undead came into being because of that ancient relic.”

Zeke tilted his head at Richmond’s words.

“Ancient relics create undead. What do you mean?”

“I’m not sure because it’s my first time seeing it but the aura emanating from it doesn’t seem like a normal artifact.”

“Hmm it’s an artifact that creates natural undead. Do you have it now?”

    Richmond shook his head sharply.

“Of course not. If I were to touch such a relic my soul could be destroyed.”

    Zeke nodded to Richmond’s words.

It was best not to touch anything that looked dangerous.

Richmond was wiser than Hades who was chained for three thousand years for carelessly touching ancient ruins.

“Have you confirmed what type of artifact the ancient relic is?”

    Richmond pondered Zeke’s question deeply.

“It was buried in the ground and the energy was so strong that I couldn’t see it in detail but at first glance it looked like an incense burner.”

“It’s an incense burner. It’s more likely a magical tool than a normal artifact.”

The powers imbued in ancient spells or relics containing ghosts were often stronger than those infused with magic.

The problem was that these relics were difficult to control and instead tried to prey on and control the users.

    Zeke praised Richmond.

“Wizards are usually very curious so they rush in and take a look but it was a good thing they didn’t try to dig it up.”

“Hehe there’s a reason I’ve survived for 500 years. I kept the crown I gave you before because I thought it was safe after testing it out in case it happened.”

“Come to think of it I gave you the crown of Luverne when I first saw you. But where did you get it?”

“There was a dungeon where I used to stay. When I discovered it there were traces of people there. As I settled down there I discovered a secret place that was cleverly hidden. When I opened it there it was.”

    “It’s a secret place…”

Zeke guessed that the dungeon where Richmond had stayed was a refuge for the Luverne clan.

‘The Dawn Society that my mother was a part of may have created such shelters here and there to save the Luverne bloodline.’

Zick thought that after his work in Aten was over he should go to Baranaon and take a look at the incense burner that Richmond had mentioned.

As he walked down the hallway organizing his plans Zeke felt a magical aura ahead of him.

Richmond also felt something and told Zeke.

“Master this is a Nirvana-style boundary magic circle.”

“It looks like the Great Mage’s laboratory is over here.”

Zig used his magic sealing technique and broke through the boundary magic circle.

    Woohoo!

Inside the boundary magic circle there was a wide cavity.

Surprisingly there were dozens of golems crouching on one side of the common wall.

Richmond approached the golem in surprise.

“Wow! Master look at this. There are so many golems. But there’s something a little different about it.”

As Richmond said Zeke also went over to take a closer look and just as he had said the golem had a different shape than usual.

“What a strange shape. It looks exactly like it’s digging the ground.”

    Richmond’s eyes sparkled.

“Master I think this is a golem for dungeon exploration.”

“A golem for dungeon exploration? Is there something like that?”

“These golems move on their own to dig dirt and move rocks.”

“I can’t believe you’d use such an expensive golem for something like that.”

“Wouldn’t it be possible with Nirvana?”

Zeke nodded in agreement to Richmond’s words.

At the same time when I thought about it there were quite a few advantages to having a golem explore a dungeon.

‘It would be more efficient than using laborers. And there’s no risk of casualties.’

It was possible to achieve a similar effect with the undead but this had the disadvantage of requiring continuous consumption of mana.

Zeke approached the lab door leaving Richmond to inspect the construction golem.

As expected a defensive magic circle was cast.

The wizard’s laboratory was so secure that touching it carelessly could cause the laboratory itself to explode.

“Richmond! Come and take this off.”

Richmond ran over and inspected the security circle hanging in the lab.

    “Can you open it?”

“I’m an expert at this. In the past when I was running low on experimental materials I would follow the security spell from the warehouse and sneak them in.”

“It’s very trustworthy. Now open it and take a look.”

Richmond carefully examined the magic circle on the door then sent his magic power to dispel it.

    Woohoo!

As the magic circle was lifted the glowing patterns on the surface of the laboratory door disappeared.

    “Phew that’s it.”

    “Richmond is great.”

It was Zeke who started to trust Richmond a little more than before.

I opened the door and went into the lab. It was quite pleasant with no dust despite it having been locked for a long time.

On the one hand it felt quite ordinary for a great wizard’s laboratory.

There weren’t many tools and it felt like there were few books on the bookshelf.

    ‘He’s neat for a wizard.’

The master of the lab the great wizard seemed to be a rare and clean wizard just like a knight without a competitive spirit.

Then Richmond let out a surprised voice as if he had discovered something.

    “My lord that!”

Looking in the direction Richmond pointed I was surprised to see a robed mummy lying in a corner of the lab.

    Zeke approached Mira with caution.

Upon closer inspection it appeared that Mira had been writing something at her desk and had fallen to the floor seemingly dead.

    Zeke examined Mira’s condition.

‘He’s clutching his heart. Did he die of a heart attack?’

He looked at the journal on his desk.

<…I was finally able to complete the elixir with the last of the ingredients I had barely gotten from the druids. However… I realized after completing it. The elixir could not cure my illness. The elixir is an essential ingredient needed to make the philosopher’s stone. With the philosopher’s stone it would be possible to reconstruct my aged and sick body. However my time has already…>

After those words nothing more was written in the diary.

Zeke shook his head as he looked at the fallen wizard.

‘You made the same mistake as Michelle. You went to the druids to get the ingredients for the elixir. That’s why Michelle thought the elixir was here.’

Zeke looked through the journal left by the wizard from the beginning.

Upon reviewing I found some information that was different from what Michelle had said.

First of all the dead wizard was a 7th circle wizard not a 9th circle great wizard.

He was a sorcerer who used ice magic and he happened to sense an unusual cold energy flowing out of this dungeon so he settled down here to conduct research.

He continued his research here and was able to perfect the 8th circle magic.

‘I think there was something similar written in the newsletter I saw in my past life.’

Since Zig wasn’t a magician he didn’t know what kind of magic it was but he only remembered that the dungeon of a high-circle magician had been discovered.

    He continued reading the diary.

The dead wizard who was standing before the 8th Circle Master noticed something strange in his body and tried to treat it but the illness had already progressed too much and there was nothing he could do.

He searched everywhere for a cure but all of them failed.

Even though he sought treatment from his relatives in Luverne his condition did not improve.

‘The illness could not have been cured with normal healing.’

Eventually he decided to find a magical solution.

He decided to make the legendary elixir himself to cure his illness.

As expected of a wizard of Nirvana he completed the elixir through persistent research but immediately after completing it he realized that the potion could not heal his body.

Zeke looked away from the journal with a regretful expression and looked around before discovering a box sitting on the desk.

When I opened the box there were two sealed bottles inside.

Zeke examined the bottle with his eyes closed.

    ―Elixir Information―

It has the power to make substances that cannot react with each other harmonize with each other as a rare reagent.

As Zeke had expected it was an elixir.

“You created two of these precious reagents? You must have been a very talented alchemist.”

Zeke put the elixir into his inventory.

Looking through the desk further I found a magician’s note about ice magic that the wizard had left behind.

‘If it’s an 8-circle ice attribute magic it must be quite valuable. Let’s get it for now.’

Besides that there were quite a few artifacts left behind by the wizard.

After putting everything in his inventory Jik discovered a staff hanging on the wall that looked like something a wizard would normally use.

The staff with the blue jewel in it seemed like a rather precious artifact.

Zeke asked Richmond pointing his cane at him.

“Richmond can you use this wand to cast ice magic?”

    Then Richmond shook his head.

    “I’m a necromancer so I can’t use elemental magic.”

Zeke looked disappointed at Richmond’s answer. Among the magicians he had with him there was no one who could use ice magic.

Then something suddenly occurred to Zeke.

Zeke looked at the wizard’s mummy and said to Richmond.

“Richmond. Can you make this interest undead?”
