    Episode 282

The next day Zeke left the room with Hickson Zeros to go to Gutan’s conference.

Zig who was in the elevator thought deeply about what he had confirmed in the system yesterday.

‘I never thought Richmond would be the necromancer of Nirvana.’

I thought it was something unique but I didn’t know it was from Nirvana.

Perhaps because he was chased here and there by the cult during the Holy Empire era and suffered a lot he didn’t talk much about his time as a human.

‘Considering that you’ve been through a lot to become a rich man you’re not mentally unstable and have a bright personality.’

Ordinary Liches tend to resent the world and study more evil forbidden technologies eventually becoming corrupted by madness.

Richmond was said to have extraordinary mental strength as he remained sane for 500 years after becoming a rich man.

Then Zeros looked at Zeke and said.

“What are you thinking so deeply about?”

Zeke turned his head towards Zero and opened his mouth.

“Have you ever heard of the name Victor Nirvana?”

Zeros was surprised by Zeke’s words.

“Where did you hear that name?”

“I think I’ve seen that name mentioned briefly in ancient ruins.”

As always when things were ambiguous the ancient ruins excuse was the best.

Zeros nodded with a slightly surprised expression on his face and answered while looking at Zeke.

“Although it is not widely known Victor Nirvana is considered the greatest genius in the history of Nirvana.”

    “Yes? The greatest genius?”

“Yes then isn’t it true that the name was mentioned in the ancient ruins as well? Then why are you so surprised?”

    “Oh no. Please continue speaking.”

“In the past there were necromancers in Nirvana and studying black magic was free. In today’s terms it would be similar to learning curse magic.”

These were the contents that Zig saw through the system yesterday.

“Was Victor Nirvana also a necromancer?”

“Yes the journals and materials he studied were all related to black magic so they were all destroyed or lost after the Holy Empire era but they had a great influence on Nirvana in many ways.”

    “What kind of influence?”

“The basic format of the Continental Magic Association’s papers such as how to write a research journal or the methodology of field measurements is based on Victor Nirvana’s paper. He can be said to be the one who established the format of today’s papers such as adding an abstract to the paper and citing the source of the citation.”

Zeke opened his mouth wide after hearing Zeros’ explanation.

‘I didn’t know Richmond had that talent.’

I thought he was just a dark and strange lich who only cared about monsters but he turned out to be more talented than I thought.

As I was inwardly admiring it Zeros clicked his tongue and continued speaking.

“Victor Nirvana is a truly pitiful figure. Although he is a genius unlike Doctor West he is a paragon of the necromancer….”

    “Who is this Doctor West?”

When Zeke asked about West Zeros glanced at Hickson.

    Hickson shook his head.

Zeros thought about it and then said to Zeke.

“That… That part is like a secret of our Nirvana so it’s difficult for me to explain in detail.”

Just as the mood was getting awkward the elevator arrived.

Hickson quickly guided Zeke into the conference room.

When I entered the conference room I saw that there were quite a few magicians gathered there.

Gutan Nirvana welcomed Zigg with his signature smile.

    “Welcome Sir Zeke Draker.”

After formally introducing Zig Gutan sat him down on the podium and began a full-fledged conversation. The members of the Battle Magic Academy asked him various questions.

“So what is the average speed at which knights usually swing their swords?”

Zeke stood up picked up Bahamut and showed off his sword by swinging it himself.

As the sword wind passed through the air the magicians in front were surprised.

    “omg!”

Gutan who was standing next to him saw this and said.

“I told you. When you fight real knights unexpected things happen. It’s not something you can do by simply dodging their swords. The spirit that knights exude is invisible but you should never ignore it.”

Some of them asked about the Auror Blade.

As expected Zeke kindly made an Auror Blade and showed it to me.

    Woohoo!

The wizards were amazed as they watched the Auror Blade soaring aboard Bahamut.

Zig tilted his head and asked Gutan.

“Gutan-nim. It seems that there are no blue knights in Nirvana.”

“Huh huh huh. Sir Zig there are no knights here.”

Zeke nodded remembering the golem guarding the main gate and asked.

“Is there any reason why there are no articles at all?”

    Then Gutan smiled and said.

“The skilled knights said they couldn’t adapt to the atmosphere here and quit right away. Hahaha.”

The knight Zeke seemed to know what Gutan meant.

‘Well even for knights with relatively dull nerves it’ll be hard to hold out here.’

Zeke demonstrated by extending and raising the Auror Blade and after getting permission from Gutan by cutting down a desk.

The wizards nodded their eyes shining as they looked at Zeke’s auror blade.

“Wow if the knights come running with that there’s no answer.”

    “Isn’t defensive magic useless?”

Then Gutan said to the magicians.

“You shouldn’t think of ordinary knights based on Sir Zeke right now. Sir Zeke is a genius who has reached the level of the Red Knight so he can handle the Aura Blade so freely. It’s difficult for ordinary knights to maintain the Aura Blade for even ten minutes.”

One of the biggest differences between the Blue Knight and the Red Knight was how long their Aura Blades could last.

In addition to sustaining their Aura Blades the Red Knights can also transform their forms or use them to strike from a distance.

Even though they use the same Aura Blade the skills of the Blue Knight and the Red Knight show a clear difference in both quality and quantity.

After a few hours of demonstrations and special lectures Zig briefly greeted Gutan and other members of the society and even signed autographs.

After all that finishing touches were done the wizards crawled back into their respective laboratories each looking as ghoul-like as ever.

‘Even though they look like that they must all be geniuses known throughout the continent.’

Gutan approached Zig who was laughing inwardly.

“Sir Zeke thank you so much for your help today. I didn’t expect the Red Knight himself to come and demonstrate the Auror Blade. I was truly touched.”

“No problem Gutan. I hope that with this we can continue to maintain a good relationship as friends with Nirvana.”

    Then Gutan smiled and said.

“It’s good to be friends but it would be better to have an official relationship.”

He took a letter out of his bosom and handed it to Zeke.

    “What is this?”

“This is a reply to Sir Kali Draker.”

Zeke was surprised because he didn’t think Antonio would reply to his letter since it had been cut off from his side.

When I read the reply the content was even more surprising.

<Thank you for your kind letter Sir Kali. Nirvana looks forward to a friendly relationship with Sir Zeke Draker and hopes to have more exchanges in the future.>

Nirvana was directly referring to Zig through his letter.

‘By mentioning me instead of Sister Kali it means that you are going to make a third choice away from Abel and Sister Kali. In this way Sister Kali will also only be able to communicate with Nirvana through me.’

It was a clever choice that avoided Draker’s political strife while also being considerate of his trading partner Zeke.

Zig put the letter in his bosom and greeted Gutan with a smile.

“Thank you Gutan. I look forward to working with you in the future.”

“If only there were knights like Sir Zeke there would be no need for wizards and knights to fight. They are always welcome.”

And a few hours later before Zeke had even finished dinner he received a newsletter with his and the Gutan Battle Mage Academy’s faces printed on it as large as a door.

‘Well I guess we shouldn’t just look at the Nirvana family as a den of weirdos. They get things done quickly and reliably.’

Once it gets published in the newsletter the relationship between Zeke and Nirvana will spread across the continent and become the talk of the town.

In conclusion it was as if Abel had gained one more external force to keep a check on his side.

‘Nirvana is out of the question now if we trace where the fairy stones are flowing we can catch up with those guys.’

Zig put down the newsletter and logged back into the system.

The person Zeros had mentioned this morning ‘Doctor West’ kept bothering me.

‘What kind of person is he that the wizards of Nirvana are reluctant to mention?’

Zeke logged into the system and searched for a person named Doctor West.

However information about the person was not recorded in the system.

“Hmm is that a person from after the Holy Empire?”

Zeke spoke to Richmond thinking he might know.

    -Richmond

Richmond who had no answer as to what he was doing finally responded only after Zeke called him several times.

‘Oh did you call the master?’

No matter how much he looked at it Zeke couldn’t believe that Richmond was one of the greatest geniuses in Nirvana’s history so he shook his head and brought up the main point of why he had called him.

-Do you know anyone named Doctor West?

Then Richmond said in a bewildered voice.

    ‘Who is that master?’

Richmond didn’t even seem to have a clue.

Zeke who was about to ask more questions soon shook his head.

‘It’s not a very good past so if I bring it up any more I might just get hurt.’

    Then Richmond spoke again.

‘Dr. West… Are you talking about Crazy Harvey?’

    -Mad Harvey?

‘Yes Harvey West. He was originally a doctor but later became a necromancer.’

-Do you know anything about that person?’

‘Um he’s a person of a higher rank than me and he was kicked out for something unpleasant…’

‘What were you doing that got you kicked out?’

‘That’s it they forced an illegal experiment.’

    -Illegal experiment? In Nirvana?

At the mention of the word Nirvana Richmond suddenly began to hiccup.

‘My daughter. My lord are you in Nirvana right now?’

    – So why didn’t you say you were from Nirvana Victor?

Richmond hiccupped even louder when his real name was revealed.

    ‘That’s it… I didn’t mean to deceive you Master. It’s just that I don’t have very good memories…’

Zeke nodded after hearing Richmond’s words.

‘It must have been hard being chased by the Holy Empire.’

    Then Richmond grumbled loudly.

‘At the time I didn’t have money to buy research materials so I ate at the Nirvana underground restaurant every day but it was so tasteless and difficult.’

A different problem than what Zeke had thought came out of Richmond’s mouth.

‘When I was there the Necromancers spent so much money on training and other things that I became a lich so I wouldn’t have to eat to live and I set up a laboratory in a dungeon to save on material costs.’

Zeke looked dumbfounded at Richmond’s words.

‘Did you become rich to save money?’

It was a bit strange but he said it was hard anyway.

-Yeah it was quite a sad past.

‘Isn’t that right Master? Oh I didn’t say anything because I was afraid I’d get too emotional if I talked about it…’

-So what kind of experiment did Harvey West do?

Zeke cut Richmond off when he saw that the story was about to get long.

Richmond grumbled as he answered Zeke’s question.

‘Well at first that crazy Harvey would take dead people out of their graves and do all sorts of things to them. Then he would even capture living people and experiment on them.’

    -You did a biological experiment?

‘Yes. I only heard that he was caught for that and was punished and kicked out of Nirvana.’

-I don’t know what kind of experiment it was.

‘It wasn’t a very good story so I think the higher-ups asked about the details. The atmosphere of Nirvana itself was a bit chaotic at the time because of the religious sect.’

    -I see. I understand.

‘Oh Master. I was going to tell you this. I found something inside the labyrinth. From what I’ve seen it’s ancient….’

Zick cut off communication without listening to Richmond’s words.

‘It’s probably some other trivial undead-related stuff again.’

He restarted the system window and searched for Harvey West’s name.

Then this time all the related materials came to mind.

Zig looked over the contents and was amazed.

“He was as crazy about research as Richmond. I can see why Zeros called him a genius.”

At the same time I could see why his nickname was Crazy Harvey.

‘What is this? They’re reviving people by creating new bodies by stitching together the corpses of the dead and breathing soul into them?’

Harvey West’s studies dealt with the subject of human transmutation a subject that was almost taboo.

Then Zeke’s gaze stopped at one title.

    <Immortal Creation Experiment Report>
