    Episode 278

William was taken aback when he heard Abel say that he would become the emperor of the empire.

    “Abel. What is that…..”

Even though the carriage had tight security William looked around nervously.

Abel chuckled at William’s reaction and turned his gaze back to the window.

“Look at this. Every time I say a word you get so shocked and startled that you almost faint. What can I say to you?”

William said with a tense expression at Abel’s words.

“You didn’t tell that to the lord did you?”

Abel frowned at the mention of the landlord Ramon Siemens.

    He said gritting his teeth.

“Ramon Siemens only wants to use me as his puppet.”

“What does that mean? The Lord is running around trying to make you the successor of Draker….”

“You’re trying to make me your replacement because you couldn’t become the head of the Draker family yourself right?”

William shut his mouth at Abel’s words.

The relationship between Ramon Siemens and Arthur Drake was complex and they didn’t know everything.

    But one thing was certain.

Ramon Siemens was inferior to Arthur Drake in every way.

Abel said with his red eyes flashing.

“William I have no intention of becoming Ramon Siemens’ puppet. The head of the Draker family? That means nothing to me anymore. I will hold the entire continent in my hands and move it.”

William clenched his fists as he looked into Abel’s maddening eyes.

‘Could this be a side effect of baptism?’

Baptism gave great power in the short term but it also had side effects.

However since the side effects were varied and no one had ever received a baptism as strong as Abel it was not known how the side effects would manifest.

‘If the side effects are not physical but mental the problem becomes increasingly serious.’

At that moment Abel leaned towards William and grabbed his chin.

    “Ugh.”

    He whispered in William’s ear.

    “I’m not crazy William.”

    Abel had read his mind.

    He said to William.

“Do you think I didn’t know that the Siemens blood flowing through you and me had the qualifications to become the Elector Count of the Roman Empire?”

William’s eyes shook greatly at Abel’s words.

    ‘How do you do that…’

    Abel said squeezing William’s chin.

“Cain Siemens Constantine. My twin brother stolen by Ramon Siemens. Originally I was going to have him receive my baptism instead of me. If only he hadn’t died at the hands of Zeke at the Southern Continent Experimental Site.”

Before he knew it William’s hands were trembling.

William under Ramon’s orders manipulated information and erased traces so that Abel and the Empire’s intelligence agencies could not find any trace of Cain.

Because Cain was one of Siemens’ most important secrets.

    ‘Abel… knew everything.’

Abel shouted again with a mad expression.

“That woman always tells me Abel all those around you are enemies! Get your head straight!”

Abel said imitating his mother’s voice.

William felt a splitting pain in his jaw as Abel’s strong grip tightened. He finally grabbed Abel’s wrist with trembling hands.

Abel said glaring at William with red eyes.

“William you too will have to choose between Ramon and me.”

Only then did Abel let go of William’s chin.

William looked at Abel with fearful eyes his jaw clenched as if it would break.

A transcendent being who holds everything in his hands and holds the power of life and death.

William felt a mixture of fear and awe for Abel.

Silence flowed and the carriage carrying the two people soon arrived at the Imperial Garrison Base located on the border of the Zun ghetto.

There a flag with the sacred wolf symbolizing the Roman Empire was fluttering.

Abel’s face looking at the flag from inside the carriage was once again tinged with a faint madness.

    Cheeeeeeek―

Zeke got off the train and stepped into Aten Station.

    ‘Is this Aten?’

He toured the main station of Aten.

Since Zig had never been to Aten in his previous life the area itself felt unfamiliar.

Because Aten was the stronghold of the Nirvana family it had a considerably different structure from Atlas the territory of the Draker family.

Of course both Aten and Atlas have mayors who oversee the running of the cities.

However in Atlas’ case the Drakes were actively involved in the running of the city while Nirvana did not pay much attention to the running of Aten.

The Nirvana family is one of the three great transcendent families and has thousands of highly skilled magicians but strictly speaking it is closer to a magic association.

Draker also recognizes knights of outstanding ability as members of the family by giving them the Draker name even if they are not direct blood relatives.

However even so the distinction between direct and collateral lines is strictly divided and authority is clearly divided accordingly.

However in the case of Nirvana there was no concept of ‘direct lineage’ only the word ‘family’ was used.

If you have skills of Circle 4 or higher and pass the test given by the Nirvana Family you will be granted entry to the ‘Storm Castle’ the home castle of the Nirvana Family located in the Storm Sea.

After the Nirvana magicians had made progress in their magical research there and had met certain qualifications they were able to leave their home world and engage in external activities in the name of Nirvana.

The problem was that the difficulty of the Nirvana qualification exam as well as the Storm Castle passage exam was extremely high.

As a result it was surprisingly difficult to meet magicians using the name Nirvana unless you specifically requested it from the Nirvana family.

Because of this they had no choice but to be treated with respect and most of the wizards of Nirvana were eccentric and self-centered doing only the research they wanted to do.

Because the Nirvana family had a unique structure in many ways they were in some ways more difficult to deal with than the closed Ishtar family.

After taking in the sights around Aten Station Zeke caught a carriage in front of the station and headed to the central branch of Nirvana.

Although the original location was in the Storm Sea the northern sea area Nirvana’s research centers and branches existed throughout the continent.

The place located in Aten was the central branch of Nirvana and the head of the household usually resided here.

When Zeke arrived at the central branch by carriage he was surprised to see the building.

‘Why is the building so small?’

Drake’s castle boasted an enormous size equivalent to five regular castles placed side by side.

But the central branch of Nirvana felt like a few large mansions scattered here and there.

Zeke doubting whether he had really come to the real Nirvana Central Branch approached the knight wearing full-plate armor standing at the main gate and revealed his identity.

At that moment the knight’s eyes lit up he glanced at Zeke’s ID card and nodded.

“Zeke Draker. Identification required. Please enter.”

Surprisingly the one guarding the main gate was not a person but a golem.

Zeke tilted his head as he watched the automatic golem move with considerable precision although it wasn’t as sophisticated as the Black Guardian that Hades had created.

‘Why bother making that expensive golem your guard? It would be cheaper to keep a hundred soldiers in front of you for ten years than to make one of those.’

As someone who values efficiency I didn’t quite understand.

Leaving his curiosity behind Zig went inside and was taken aback by the unexpected situation but he let out a hollow laugh. He was worried that he might get confused about the building since there were no directions but it turned out that he didn’t have to worry about that.

There was only one road and only one building that could be entered.

Zig went inside a shabby building that looked like it had been built for no apparent reason.

But as soon as he entered the building he was confused once again.

    ‘what?’

Unlike what it looked like from the outside the inside of the building was incredibly spacious.

The lobby of that building was chaotic with wizards passing by quickly.

The bald beaked wizard flew through the air holding the experimental potion and the tall man as tall as a pole muttered and then moved to the second floor in an instant with light flashing from his body.

A plump wizard sat on the lobby steps sipping tea holding a cat in his arms.

Zeke was so confused that his head started spinning as he watched dozens of wizards moving around individually.

    ‘There are places like this.’

Zig who barely came to his senses after shaking his head once looked around and found a call device attached to the wall.

Zig picked up the receiver-shaped call device and pressed the button.

There was a beeping sound and then a harsh voice as if it were coming from a golem came from the other end of the receiver.

『Please identify yourself and tell me who you are calling.』

“Zeke Draker. I have come to see Master Jorge Nirvana the head of the household to deliver a letter from Kali Draker.”

There was another beep from the receiver and the connection was suddenly disconnected.

Zeke stared blankly at the silent receiver.

    ‘Did you get a call?’

As he was debating whether to press the call button again someone came up behind Zig.

“Why are you still holding it?”

A tough-looking old man who looked like a wizard to anyone who saw him glared at Zeke.

Zeke bowed his head towards the wizard.

“Are you Master Jorge? I am Zeke…..”

“Do I look like some old idiot like Jorge?”

    The wizard shouted at Zeke.

He said looking at Zeke with a look of disapproval.

“I am Antonio. I am the agent for the idiot Jorge.”

‘Antonio Nirvana? He’s one of the few 8th Circle Masters on the continent.’

Antonio gestured to Zeke and said.

“I don’t know what brought you here from Draker but since you’re here follow me.”

He tapped his hand on the wall and a door suddenly appeared in the blank wall.

Antonio opened the door naturally and went in.

Zeke paused at the door in the wall. He was also a knight by birth so magic itself was unfamiliar to him.

As Zeke hesitated in front the door burst open and Antonio shouted.

“What are you doing! It’s not coming in!”

Zeke opened the door Antonio had created for him and went inside.

The inside of the door surprisingly seemed to be Antonio’s study.

Countless experimental instruments and books were piled on the floor and the walls were covered with blackboards filled with incomprehensible formulas written all over them.

‘The wizard’s lab is always a madhouse.’

Antonio roughly cleared the desk and sat down on his seat.

“Just clean up and sit down. Oh you’re a pureblood Awakened. Never take off your gloves. This place is full of gadgets that you can’t get even with money.”

Antonio snapped his fingers and two cups of coffee popped out on the empty desk.

Antonio slurped down the coffee which was as black and strong as water from hell.

“I only drink black so I don’t have any milk or sugar so just drink it.”

Zeke took a sip of his coffee then felt a bitter taste that made his tongue disappear and quietly put the cup down.

Antonio who had finished drinking his coffee took out his pipe from his bosom put it in his mouth and lit it with a snap of his fingers.

Only then did he get to the point blowing smoke.

“So why did Zeke Draker bring Carly Draker’s letter?”

“Continued cooperation and exchange with Nirvana….”

“No I won’t. Okay? Go back.”

While Zeke was taking his time drinking coffee Antonio cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

Zeke nodded as if he knew that would happen.

‘The Nirvana wizards hate annoying things.’

Zeke looked at Antonio and said.

“Well then our official business is over. Here’s my personal suggestion.”

    Antonio said blowing smoke.

“Fuck I have nothing more to say so go back. I’m so busy why are you talking nonsense…”

    Bam!

The moment Antonio saw what Zeke took out of his arms he straightened his posture.

“What is this? Is this a fairy stone?”
