A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 276
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 276
Zeke stared at Richmond.
Then Richmond raised his voice in embarrassment.
“It’s true!”
“Hmm.”
Richmond said as if he felt wronged by Zeke’s reaction.
“Normally to become a lich you have to ritually turn yourself undead and then place your soul in a ‘Life Vessel’.”
As a Highlander Zeke had also caught many Liches so he knew the basic principles.
Like the Arch Lich I caught before there are cases where you use an object you carry on your person as a life vessel and there are also cases where you plant it somewhere else and only take the vessel when in danger to escape.
Zeke said looking at Richmond.
“Come to think of it it wasn’t there from the beginning? I thought it disappeared after I became a summon.”
“I was able to become a lich in a unique way because I performed a ritual using a blood stone that I created. Actually my goal was to become a dragon monster…”
Zeke looked dumbfounded at Richmond’s words.
“So you mixed the bones of a dragon monster into your body?”
“In the end I failed and became half-human half-lich.”
“You are truly unique in many ways.”
“Hehehe thank you for the compliment.”
Although it wasn’t exactly a compliment Zick didn’t deny it because Richmond liked it so he asked Richmond.
“Then should we assume that the Abyss guys found out how to make the artificial blood stone you created and created this?”
“What’s a bit questionable is that I studied the blood stone 500 years ago so how did you figure that out?”
“Are artificial blood stones difficult to make?”
“Since you need fairy stones first there is a barrier to entry starting from obtaining the materials.”
“Is it possible if I only have a fairy stone?”
“It requires several things. The method I applied is the Mandragora method where you bury fairy stones in places where vengeful prisoners are likely to bleed and die and you create magical devices around the area so that the vengeance seeps in.”
“I guess this is a way to force resentment into the fairy stone.”
“That’s right. In fact the important thing here is the magic circle activation method I created but I wonder how you figured that out.”

Zeke listened to Richmond’s words and thought about them carefully.
‘If assuming that you know Richmond’s drive mechanism you gather the sacrifices make them die with a grudge and then change the fairy stones into blood stones…’
It seemed that Narak who had never hesitated to practice forbidden technology would be able to create an artificial blood stone without any problem.
‘If you can supply the offerings and fairy stones you can produce as much as you want.’
Zeke’s expression became serious.
If the higher-level demons such as the higher-level Mongma Pan could freely manifest in the phenomenal world it would be impossible to stop Siemens and Abel who were moving them.
‘We must stop this before mass production of blood stones becomes possible.’
Zeke learned from the wizards of the Abyss that they were conducting experiments to resurrect the demons who died during the first and second invasions.
Now that I know that there are places and laboratories all over the continent where these baptismal rites are performed I cannot just leave it alone.
‘I will search thoroughly and destroy them all.’
After releasing Richmond’s summons Zeke held Bahamut upside down and stuck the blade into the ground.
“The elemental sword that causes storms and splits the ground… Let’s see its power.”
Zig took hold of his sword and unleashed a field of golden power.
Ddddddddddd—
Zig’s golden power began to resonate with the earth as he rode the sword he had stuck into the ground.
Wooooow!
I felt the mana contained in Zig’s interruption rapidly drain away along with the resonance.
Kugugugugugu!
The entire gold and salt mine began to react.
And at some point the gold power escaped Zig’s power and the vibrations grew even louder.
‘this….’
The field of gold power was more difficult to control than the field of fire power.
Kugu palace!
The ceiling collapsed and the floor cracked.
Zeke immediately drew his sword and ran forward avoiding the collapsing ceiling.
He spread his dragon wings and flying boots together and quickly ascended to the top of the mine but the entrance to the mine was blocked by a collapsed rock. Seeing this Zeke raised Bahamut and aimed ahead.
Woohoo!
He gave it his all and displayed his ‘will to break through’.
Kwakwakwakwakwakwa!
The will to break through contained in the sword broke through the blocking rock and Zig rolled his body and jumped out of the mine.
Kwarrrrrrrr!
As soon as Zeke stepped out of the mine the ground around him collapsed completely burying the underground space.
Zig who had used up all of his mana sighed as he watched the natural disaster caused by the field of gold power.
“Whew after becoming SS-rank it’s so hard to control the Elemental Sword…”
Even if you use just a little bit of force the mana drains away in a clump scorching the surrounding area and since Zig also becomes limp it wasn’t easy to use during battle.
‘I need to find a way to control my power.’
As Zeke slowly got up Shadia came up next to him without saying a word.

Shadia who had evacuated the villagers looked at the collapsed salt mine with a bewildered expression.
“Boss? Did you do that Boss?”
Zick nodded and said.
“There will be no more traces of it.”
“The traces aren’t the problem… No. We evacuated the villagers but what should we do?”
“I’ve already told Simon so he’ll send someone to take care of the rest. First we need to deal with the cult problem that’s spread across the southern continent.”
Shadia had been watching Zeke from the side for a while and felt a kind of awe that went beyond fear.
‘If the entire Salmak were to fight Zeke Draker with all their might…’
Even if all sorts of tricks and assassination methods were used the result was the same.
Sure defeat
Cold sweat ran down Shadia’s back.
‘Did the Master know the true identity of Zeke Draker and give such an order?’
In fact Shadia received a secret order from Salmakju before following Zeke.
The plan was that if at any time Zeke Draker showed any signs of weakness he would be assassinated and then returned.
Shadia known as the Flower of the Desert believed that if she stayed by Zeke’s side she would one day have the opportunity to assassinate him.
But the longer she spent time by his side the more she realized that it was impossible.
Zeke said looking at Shadia who was just blankly staring.
“Is Shadia okay?”
At his call Shadia came to her senses and nodded.
“it’s okay.”
Zeke took a potion out of his bosom and threw it at her.
“You look tired. I’ll be back soon so just bear with it for a little longer.”
Shadia nonchalantly threw the precious potion to him and stared blankly at Zeke who had his back turned to her.
He was a completely different vessel from Salmakju who was so suspicious that even his disciples could not trust him.
‘Or is it the confidence that you can deal with it even if you are caught?’
Shadia held onto the potion that Zeke had thrown at her and tried to calm her dizzy mind.

After wrapping up his work at the salt mine Zeke returned to Atlas.
Having found a clue about the Abyss Zeke first decided to track down the baptism site they had created and where the artificial bloodstones were made.
Shadia joined Boris’ side and was given the task of finding relevant information but they split up along the way.
Most of the eastern part of Midland including Atlas and Jason was Kali’s territory.
There was a palace there that was used as a summer residence by the Pope of the old Holy Empire. Kali named it the ‘Silver Palace’ and spent most of her time there.
The carriage that Zig was riding entered the Baek Eun Palace.
He was amazed by the sight of the Baekun Palace made of elegant white marble.
‘They say it’s the most beautiful palace on the continent. It’s no different from a work of art.’
As he passed through the garden of Baek Eun Palace and entered the palace a welcoming face greeted him.
“Zeke!”
The fourth prince of the exiled empire Karus had heard that Zeke was coming and was waiting for me.
Zeke also welcomed Karus warmly.
“Carus. It’s been a long time.”
Karus had changed his clothing and hair from the Imperial style to the Central Continent style.
He said hugging Zeke.
“Come on in. I’ve been waiting for so long to hear you’re coming.”
“I’m glad your face looks good.”
At those words Karus nodded and smiled.
“Even though I don’t have any power it’s better here than being in the suffocating palace. There’s a lot of delicious food and the women are much prettier… Anyway let’s go in.”
Karus took Zeke to his room.
The room was filled with all kinds of paintings.
Zig looked at the paintings hanging on the wall and was amazed.
“That’s amazing. Did you draw that yourself Karus?”
The subjects of the paintings were diverse.
There were landscapes and abstract paintings that were impossible to identify.
Karus nodded with a proud expression.
“So it was only in this beautiful Baek Eun Palace that I was able to truly bring my artistic talent to fruition.”
I knew you were interested in art but I didn’t know it was to this extent. You really do have talent in art because all your paintings are extraordinary.
When Zeke showed interest in the paintings Karus became excited and explained them to Zeke one by one.
While listening to the story and appreciating the artwork Zeke discovered a painting in a corner that was upside down and covered with a cloth.
“What is that?”
Karus hesitated looking slightly embarrassed at Zeke’s question.
“Hmm. That’s.”
“Can I look at it?”
Karus nodded after thinking about it.
Surprisingly there was nothing drawn on the canvas.
No to be exact the canvas was completely painted black here and there.
“What kind of picture is this?”
Karus hesitated and then slowly opened his mouth.
“Actually when I heard you were coming Zeke I was going to draw you to give you as a gift.”
Zeke was surprised by Karus’ words.
“me?”
“Yeah I was going to draw your portrait and give it to you as a gift. But…..”
Zick said looking at the painting which had the entire canvas painted black.
“This picture is of me.”
“Oh right. This is the first time this has happened. When you think about drawing someone their features come to mind very clearly right? That’s why I wanted to draw you Zeke really well… but before I knew it the brush ended up like this.”
Zeke stared blankly at the blackened canvas.
Then he nodded.
“I really like it.”
At those words Carus asked in surprise.
“Huh? Really?”
“Yes Karus you are the first person to give me a painting as a gift. Thank you very much.”
Zeke had almost no one he could call a true friend neither in his past life nor in this life except for Kay.
I thought that if I had a friend of the same age I would feel like Karus.
As Zeke was looking at Carus’s painting with a satisfied expression a servant entered the room.
“King Zeke and King Kali have arrived.”
After greeting Karus Zeke left the room and went up to Carly’s office.
When he opened the door and went in Carly and Helen were waiting for him.
“Sister Carly Sister Helen.”
Helen who had returned from her mission stood up from her seat with a stiff expression.
Then he handed something to Zeke.
Zeke tilted his head at the sight of the crude box.
“What is this?”
Helen sat stiffly in silence in response to Zeke’s question.
Then Carly smiled and said.
“Helen brought some eastern specialties saying she would give them to you Zeke.”
At those words Zeke sat down and opened the crude box Helen had brought him which was filled with delicious-looking pies.
Zeke was surprised to see it.
‘Why pie all of a sudden?’
Since they said that jig was a local specialty I naturally assumed it would be one of the local specialties.
Helen looked at Zeke in silence.
He felt a silent pressure and picked up a pie and took a big bite.
Although Zig doesn’t really like sweets he ate it all with great relish.
He swallowed the last piece and said to Helen.
“It’s very delicious sis.”
Helen smiled as if she was glad of what Zeke said.
“I’m glad it suits your taste. I bought a lot so eat a lot.”
When Zeke turned around because he thought Helen’s words were strange he could see dozens of similar boxes stacked up.
‘oh my god.’
Carly who was smiling while looking at Helen who was wearing a proud expression quickly changed her expression and looked at Zeke and said.
“Zeke Abel has started to move.”
Zig who was taking another bite of pie while hiding his complicated feelings looked at Carly and said.
“So you’re officially moving after being promoted to Black Knight. Where did you go?”
Carly said with a heavy expression.
“Join Ghetto. The Empire is targeting it again.”
