A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 260

Episode 260
“Oh you know me?”
When I listened closely to Luther’s words who was startled I noticed that not only was he stuttering but his word order was also strange.
‘I can tell you have a Dorta Republic accent so I don’t think you’re from the Central Continent.’
Zeke smiled brightly at Luther Gemben and said:
“Of course. Didn’t you decide to receive Lord Luther’s special skills this time? I should have come to see you first and greeted you. I’m truly sorry.”
As soon as he finished speaking Zeke grabbed Luther’s hand.
‘uh?’
But when Sieg took Luther Gemben’s hand he felt something strange.
Luther Gemben said hastily withdrawing his hand.
“I’m sorry. I have a lot of sweat. On my hands. Always! I! Just came to say hello. Okay that’s all…”
Luther Gemben looked around and quickly disappeared into the crowd.
Zeke recalled the strange sensation he had felt when he had held Luther Gemben’s hand.
‘That feeling was definitely… magic?’
Knights use auras and wizards use magic.
As far as Zeke knew Luther Zemben was a knight not a wizard.
So no magical power could be felt from him.
‘Could it be that I was mistaken?’
I don’t know what it is but it seems like he’s hiding an extraordinary secret despite his shabby appearance.
Zick shook hands cheerfully with the others and continued to speculate about Luther Zemben.
* * *
As soon as the banquet was over and the next day came Zig set out to find Luther Semben.
In the process Zeke learned that Luther Gemben had been specially recruited to become a full-fledged knight of Draker.
Zeke also received the rank of knight through special recruitment but he was originally a direct pure-blood Awakened and was a Draker from birth.
However Luther Gemben had no connection to the Drakers and had no previous record of accomplishments as a knight.
When I looked into how Luther who was like that became a Drake Knight with the authority of a higher knight I was surprised to find that he was appointed by the authority of the head of the household.

There was even an exception clause that allowed him to retain his knighthood even if he did not perform the Drake’s duties.
It must have been an enormous benefit that ordinary Drake knights could not even imagine.
After confirming it Zeke had one question.
‘In the first place Luther Gemben didn’t learn the Dragon’s Slaughter method so isn’t it impossible to teach him the special technique itself?’
The term “special force” refers to a vision that has been refined from the applied formulas that have been accumulated through the experience of past knights of the Draker family.
The Draker family which has been around for a thousand years has various dragon-killing techniques that have been refined over a long period of time. And the Jinsanjeolgi that the upper-level knights created based on these techniques is called a special technique.
High-ranking knights pass down their special skills to future generations and the developed applications are then passed down to the next generation.
Some people find this special feature to be the reason why the Draker family stood tall as the rulers of Midland.
So it was natural for Zeke to have doubts. Since they had the same roots as the Dragon Slaughter method it was possible to receive the vision after becoming a high-level knight but Luther Gemben was someone who was completely outside of this scope.
It was beyond my understanding why Arthur Draker the owner of the house had put him on the list of special forces trainees when he could not have been unaware of this fact.
‘I’m becoming more and more curious about Luther Gemben’s identity.’
Luther Gemben lived alone in a mansion on the outskirts of Atlas.
After receiving the address Zeke rode Bucephalus and went to where Luther lived.
When we went to the address we saw a single house sitting alone in a quiet place on the outskirts.
They didn’t seem to care much about security but the door was still open.
Zeke left Bucephalus in front of the mansion and went inside.
It was an ordinary two-story house too small to be called a mansion.
‘If you were a full-fledged knight of Draker you could have bought a much better house than this. Are you just frugal?’
When he woke up there was no one inside the house. As he looked around Zig felt movement at the back of the house and turned around to look.
Surprisingly there was a small garden behind the house and Luther was farming there.
‘Drake’s Knight Farming?’
The only farming experience Zeke had was raising soma on a soma farm when he was taken to the Southern Continent in his previous life.
Luther was concentrating on pulling out weeds and killing pests in his garden.
“Phew.”
He straightened his back sat up and wiped the sweat off his body.
Only then did Luther notice Sieg staring blankly at him from the side.
“Ouch! Sir Ji Ji-k! I’m so surprised!”
Luther was startled by the awkward common language.
Zeke looked at him and spoke to him in Dortha.
“If you are more comfortable speaking Dorta you can speak in this language.”
Luther was surprised when Zig spoke Dortha.
“Do you speak Dorta?”
“Just a little bit.”
But as he listened to Luther’s speech Zeke felt something strange again.
‘Isn’t it awkward to say Dorta?’
He hesitated for a moment and then asked Luther.
“Lord Luther. Excuse me but may I ask where you are from?”

Luther hesitated and was taken aback by Zeke’s words before finally opening his mouth.
“Actually I come from the Eastern Continent.”
“If it’s the Eastern Continent…..”
When Zeke spoke in the ancient Eastern language this time Luther asked in surprise his eyes popping out.
“Oh my God! Where did you learn that?”
It was something I had learned from a Highlander from Ishtar in my previous life but I could not tell the truth.
Zeke tried to muddle through and continue the conversation but unfortunately Luther didn’t know the ancient Eastern language.
The two decided to speak in Dorta which was relatively easy for them to communicate with each other.
The two sat on chairs placed near the garden.
“Sigh I’ve been learning the official language for years now and it’s so hard.”
“At first people said it was because the word order was different. But I guess the word order of Dorta and Dongbang is similar.”
“Yes there are a lot of similar words so it was relatively easy to learn.”
Luther’s face looked a little relaxed perhaps because he was speaking in his familiar Dort language after a long time.
Zeke asked Luther.
“Lord Luther actually before coming here I did some research on your records.”
When Luther heard that Zeke had accessed his records he did not feel embarrassed or offended but rather nodded.
“Your Majesty as a pureblood Awakened must have had doubts about my records.”
“I’m sorry to ask but I was wondering how your name ended up on the list of special forces transferees.”
Instead of beating around the bush Zeke asked Luther directly what he was curious about.
Then Luther nodded and opened his mouth.
“Actually… I too was curious. That the Lord had chosen me as a candidate to inherit Sir Zeke’s special skills.”
“What do you mean?”
“As Sir Zeke knows I am not qualified to be a candidate for special forces training. I came here and learned the dragon killing method but I can only do the basics and I can only imitate the advanced methods that full-fledged knights learn.”
He paused for a moment and then slowly opened his mouth.
“I too had my doubts when I heard that I had become the special force trainee of Sir Zeke but after meeting Sir Zeke in person yesterday I realized why.”
“What is the reason?”
Luther who had been sitting slowly got up from his seat. Then he extended his hand towards Zeke.
Woohoo!
Magical power was released from Luther’s body.
The poker that had fallen to the floor was sucked into Luther’s hand by itself as he summoned up his magical power.
Zik flinched for a moment and tried to step back.
But something even more surprising happened.
A sharp auric blade arose from the poker in Luther’s hand.
‘That’s?’
Surprisingly Luther could use both magic and aura at the same time.
He gathered his energy and spoke to Zeke.
“Like Sir Zeke I too am an irregular.”
Zeke who was momentarily taken aback by Luther’s words suddenly came to his senses.
‘The true identity of the Mage Slayer is not the Black Knight but an Irregular!’
A being that can use both magic and aura which is impossible in common sense.
A heterogeneous entity that caused great upheaval every time it appeared in the long history of the Central Continent.
Luther Gemben was none other than the ‘Magician’.
Zeke remembered how Duke had mistaken him for an Irregular when he had previously taught him the Whirlwind.
I remember Duke and the family saying that it would be better not to mention this to the outside world since the Central Continent doesn’t have a very good reaction to Irregulars.
‘I thought Arthur Draker would reject Irregulars but it seems like that’s not necessarily the case. Well he even had an illegitimate child with a vampire maid so I guess I should say he has no prejudice against such things.’
When I learned about Luther Gemben’s background everything made sense.
The reason he was given benefits and bound as an official knight of the Drakers despite not being a Draker was none other than because he was a rare being called a swordsman.
Although Irregulars are considered cursed and shunned their abilities are clearly superior to those of ordinary people.
Because he was a being that defied common sense he also displayed strength that defied common sense.
Arthur Draker seemed to have recognized Luther Gemben’s potential and brought him into the family.
Luther Gemben looked at Zig and said:
“As you can see I am a swordsman. I can use magic and swords together so I can make unconventional attacks.”
He raised his magic power in one hand and his aura in the other.
“Yesterday when I shook hands with Sir Zeke I felt a strange power within me not an Auror and I realized that he was an Irregular like me.”
As a healer class Zeke was unable to create a lower dart so he opened up the middle dart and trained his sword with mana.
Now that he had become a Black Knight he could use Auror freely but considering the skills he possessed it wasn’t much different from using magic.
Zeke asked Luther.
“Is Lord Luther’s special ability a technique that uses magic and swords together?”
Luther shook his head at those words.
“Although I am a magic swordsman I can only use magical powers and cannot use high-level magic. If I need to use magic in the middle of a battle it would be more efficient to use an artifact with attack magic engraved on it.”
Zeke nodded to Luther’s words.
Assuming the Blue Knight is holding a sword engraved with the Fireball enchantment he can obviously use both the Auror Blade and the Fireball.
But we don’t necessarily do that.
Because if you have the aura to use a fireball swinging a sword would be more powerful.
In many ways using swords and magic together was an inefficient method.
In the first place this could have been easily solved by forming a unit with a mix of knights and magicians.
“Please wait a moment.”
Luther looked around then went to the storeroom and brought out an old sword.
It was an Eastern Empire style sword with a curved blade not a Central Continent style sword.
He drew his sword and took up a stance.
“The reason why the Swordmaster is a threat is not because he can use both swords and magic. It is because he can control two different powers at the same time: aura and magic.”
He raised his aura and swung his sword. A series of threatening sword strikes followed.
At the same time Luther generated magical power with his other hand.
Woohoo!
Zeke felt the mana waves around him change for a moment due to Luther’s magic.
‘What is this?’
Zeke noticed something that had a similar effect.
“It seems similar to the magical power disruption effect of a pureblood awakened person?”
Luther put away his sword and nodded.
“That’s right. I’ve heard that Draker’s pureblood Awakened have the power to disrupt the flow of magic. However they can’t freely control that power like I can.”
Draker’s pureblood Awakened ones control magical interference with their gloves.
But this phenomenon itself was impossible to control.
It was effective in all directions unless you wore gloves made of dragon skin to block the ability itself.
Therefore the effect was applied to both enemy forces and friendly forces.
This was the reason why Draker’s pureblood Awakened people did not take off their gloves even in daily life.
Zeke realized how Luther had been able to kill hundreds of high-level wizards in his past life.
‘It was possible because he was a magician who could control the flow of magic power.’
Zeke thought back to the actions he had just seen Luther perform.
“Control the flow of magic power…”
Unlike the average pureblood Awakened Zeke had a magic reflection skill.
If I could learn how to properly utilize this skill in combat I thought it would be useful in the fight against Narak.
Zeke immediately took off the gloves he was wearing.
“Wait a minute! If you take it off now all the magic power will burn out…”
But nothing happened when I took off my gloves.
As Luther blinked in surprise Sieg opened his palm toward one of the magic lights.
And then as if on cue he activated his magic reflection skill.
Phage phage phage!
The magic light pointed at by Zeke’s palm exploded sending sparks flying.
Luther was surprised to see the magical interference effect appear late and asked.
“Can Sir Zeke control magical interference abilities?”
