A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 249
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 249
Hades straightened his upper body and shouted.
“What the hell! Who spread such a rumor!”
“Isn’t it?”
“Of course not! If I catch the guy who said such nonsense I’ll tear his tongue out!”
I thought it was true because Jamilla said it so confidently but it seems it wasn’t.
Zeke asked Hades who was grumbling.
“Then why on earth are you tied up here?”
Hades finally calmed down and opened his mouth.
“It wasn’t fratricide but… I did commit a sin.”
“Was it attempted fratricide?”
“This guy? Trying to turn someone into a traitor. That’s not what I’m talking about!”
He said with a sigh.
“Ah who’s to blame? It’s my fault for going in even though I was told not to.”
“What do you mean?”
Hades straightened up as if standing upright and pointed to the floor.
“Here here.”
“This is a labyrinth?”
“Yes. This place was originally one of the forbidden areas but I came in and made a workshop on my own. I wanted to try out some experiments because the things here looked interesting.”
Zig asked in surprise at the unexpected words.
“So are you bound by the crime of entering this ban?”
Hades shook his head.
“Don’t think of dragons as humans. Do you think we punish each other for breaking some rules?”
He said with a sigh.
“I am bound here not because of the sanctions but because I touched the wrong core of the prohibition and my soul was bound here.”
“Your soul is bound?”

“Yes. I’m tied to this area and can’t get out.”
“My goodness. How strong must the bonds be to bind a dragon?”
Hades said annoyed at those words.
“That’s what I’m saying. Damn it. No matter how hard I try for three thousand years this damn thing won’t break free.”
It was said that Hades had been bound here longer than Ishtar who had been bound for two thousand years.
Yellin who was listening to Hades and Zeke was taken aback when the conversation took a completely unexpected direction.
“Oh Hades. So you can’t break free from the bonds of our family?”
Hades frowned and became irritated at those words.
“Is this guy adding fuel to the fire? I’ve been locked up for three thousand years and you’ve only been here for two thousand years!”
Yellin immediately shut his mouth at Hades’s blow.
Zeke said to Hades.
“If I release you from your bonds will you set the House of Ishtar free?”
At those words Hades held his stomach and laughed.
“You’ll free me from my bonds? Oh if that’s the case I’ll free you! No I’ll grant you even your wish!”
Zeke jumped up from his seat.
Then he said to Hades.
“Please guide me to where the forbidden core is.”
Hades flinched at Zeke’s confident attitude.
Then he clicked his tongue and said.
“What is a knight who is not even a wizard going to do? What a joke. Okay you punk. Even if you don’t know what you’re going to do just try it.”
Hades snapped his fingers this time.
Phew!
The scenery changed again.
Woohoo!
In the middle of the huge cave a stone tablet with numerous letters engraved on it was shining and vibrating.
Yellin opened his mouth wide at the sight of the enormous stone monument.
“My goodness Sir Zeke. I have never seen such a large monument before.”
Zeke asked Hades who was floating in the air.
“Lord Hades what was this site originally used for?”
“I don’t know exactly. I just know that the stele was used to control the city that used to be here.”
“Are you talking about the city before the era of the Hero Kings?”
“Yes. It’s a city that was built during the era called the Age of the Constellations which was destroyed before I was born.”
It was amazing that the core of a city older than a dragon was still moving.
Zeke slowly approached the tombstone.
That’s when the message came to mind.
[Warning: Do not approach as strong karma distortion may occur.]
‘Karma distortion phenomenon?’

Zeke realized that this stone had something to do with karma.
He stepped back for a moment following the system’s warning.
If he approached it rashly he thought that his soul might be imprisoned here like Hades.
Zeke asked Hades.
“Lord Hades could you please move Lady Yellin to another place?”
At those words Hades glanced at Yellin.
Yellin said to Zeke in surprise.
“Sir Zeke! What are you talking about….”
Before Yellin could finish speaking Hades snapped his fingers and sent her somewhere else.
“I left you in that workshop for a moment. Is that because you don’t want to show off all your abilities to that high elf kid?”
“You noticed.”
“You’ve been giving me hints all along so what? Since you’re not a high elf child speak frankly.”
Zeke nodded and asked Hades.
“Do you know about karma?”
At those words Hades looked at Zeke with a surprised expression.
“How do you know that kid?”
“I have the spirit of the Elder Dragon imprinted on my soul. Thanks to this I am able to use the admin system even though I am not a dragon contractor.”
Hades looked even more surprised at those words.
“Administrator system? Oh my goodness. Did Kronos really create that?”
“Do you know the admin system?”
“I know. I was the one who set the frame.”
“Yes? So you’re saying that Hades created the system?”
“Rather than saying I created a system… I’ll just show you.”
Hades spread out his palm and swept the air causing new letters to appear in the air.
The arrangement of the letters felt familiar to Zeke.
“Isn’t this an administrator system?”
Hades shook his head.
“No this is the system used in the city of this ruin. While I was studying these systems I created a framework for the administrator system and gave it to Kronos. He said he would apply it to the inverted tower you mentioned earlier.”
“So you’re saying that system is something that was used in ancient cities?”
“Yes it seems that the ancient cities had an extremely advanced civilization that we can only imagine now. What was great about them was that they studied how to use the power of this world efficiently.”
“That’s what a system is.”
“I know I shouldn’t be here but I’ve been interested in those ancient civilizations since I was a hatchling. Black dragons tend to dig deep once they get hooked on something. I got hooked on that.”
“So you continued to research this nuke?”
“So as I continued to dig into the system I found that the thing you mentioned ‘karma’ was repeated. That was the core of ancient civilization.”
Zig remembered the story of the hermit dealing with karma.
‘Those who lived in the ancient civilizations had realized how to deal with this karma.’
If you can handle karma you can exert power that goes beyond the laws of the phenomenal world.
Zeke also used the system and felt the power of Karma firsthand so he was well aware of its power.
‘The power to control karma…’
If you try to forcefully control too much power you may end up being consumed by that power.
The fate of the black magicians who summoned the power of the demon world to gain great power and then ended up having their souls eaten was extremely miserable.
Perhaps the reason these ancient civilizations disappeared leaving behind only traces was because they abused the great power of karma and ended up being eaten themselves.
Zig looked at the still glowing tombstone and decided to try accessing the system first.
‘System. Can you access that control system?’
A message soon emerged.
[Attempting to connect to the higher level administrator system.]
[Connection is not possible because the recognition code is different.]
“Zeke said shaking his head.
“The recognition code is different so I can’t access the system.”
Then Hades looked at Zeke and said.
“Recognition code? I know that one.”
“Yes? Is that true?”
“Oh. Do you think I’ve been just playing around for three thousand years? I’ve been trying to break free from my bonds interpreting the system and causing all sorts of chaos. Just wait a minute.”
Hades levit something into the air and swung it towards Zeke with his hand.
At his gesture a message appeared before Zeke’s eyes.
[A new system is requesting access to the administrator system.]
Zeke granted Hades access.
[Allow access.]
[Update new information.]
[A new recognition code is entered into the Kabbalah system.]
[The code has opened an indecipherable area on the Sephiroth Dimension Server.]
[Retrying to connect to the suspended administrator system.]
[Connection successful.]
Zeke was able to access the control system thanks to the recognition code sent by Hades.
[Hello Admin. Welcome to the Golden City of Blanca beloved by the constellation ‘Stained Breath of the Ideal’. How may I help you?]
“Golden City Blanca?”
It was a name I was hearing for the first time.
Zig asked the connected Blanca system.
‘What must I do to free the beings bound to this city?’
The Blanca system said it would find an answer to Zeke’s question and soon a message appeared.
[There is currently one adult dragon species registered and managed in the city.]
‘Managed Object?’
Zeke felt something strange when he saw the system’s expression.
‘Is it possible to manage dragons in the city?’
That question brought up the message again.
[Golden City Blanca is a high-class city equipped with the latest facilities and it is possible to register more than five adult dragons. Registered individuals are managed through a thorough system to protect the citizens from external dangers and provide enjoyable entertainment.]
Zig was shocked when he saw the system message.
‘Could it be that he subdued the dragon in the city and used it as he pleased?’
It was an unbelievable statement but given the circumstances it seemed like it had to be true.
Zeke continued to question the system.
‘How do I deregister a registered species?’
Then a message popped up in the system.
[Currently registered dragon species cannot be deregistered due to a system error.]
‘System error? What does that mean?’
[The dragon heart of the corresponding dragon species is bonded with the karma control device and the bond is currently impossible to break.]
Zig listened to the explanation of the system and understood what was going on.
‘The Dragon Heart is completely attached to this control device.’
Hades touched the control device that was causing the karma distortion phenomenon and something seemed to go wrong.
Zeke asked the system again.
‘Find a way to disconnect the Dragon Heart and the control device.’
Then Blanca’s system displayed a message.
[Sorry Admin. We haven’t found a way to separate the dragon and the dragon heart.]
If things continued like this Hades would be trapped here forever.
That was when.
The message emerged from the original Kabbalah system not the Blanca system.
[Searching on the Sephiroth Dimension Server for a solution to this issue.]
[The search scope is too broad so narrow it down.]
[Search for feasible methods by synthesizing the manager’s skill information and inventory information.]
[One solution was found in the search results.]
‘What? There’s a solution?’
Zeke urgently checked the solution.
[Check the control link between the subordinate dragon species and the city with the special skill Bloodshot Eye owned by the upper manager.]
[Using the ‘Sea God’s Body’ owned by the higher-level administrator temporarily block the connection between the dragon and the control system.]
[You must use the special skill ‘All-Out Power’ to disconnect the control system connected to Dragon Heart.]
The method was quite specific. Zeke read it calmly and took out the body he had received from the sea god from his inventory.
Then he looked at Hades.
“Lord Hades.”
“Why? It won’t work. I knew it…”
“I think I found a way.”
“what?”
Hades stuttered at the unexpected answer from Zeke.
“What the… you really found a way?”
“Yes. But… the method might be a bit rough.”
“Is the problem that the method is rough? Is it really real? How do I do it?”
Zeke suddenly took out the Bahamut he was holding.
“I’m sorry Lord Hades. I need you to hand over the Dragon Heart.”
