A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 245

Episode 245
“Hermit?”
He got up from his seat and looked around and before he knew it he was in the hermit’s dwelling in the bamboo forest.
He seemed to have fallen asleep while sitting on the sofa.
The hermit patted his back and lay down on the bamboo bed.
“Oh my gosh I’m dying. I’m dying.”
“Why are you doing that?”
The hermit spoke in a dying voice.
“Oh my don’t be ridiculous. Suddenly some demons came pouring out and I was called in to a meeting and had to fumble around for a while.”
“Where did the demons come from?”
At those words the hermit turned his head and said.
“You have to become a Highlander to tell me that. Do you swear it?”
Zeke immediately stepped back.
“You don’t have to say anything.”
I couldn’t go through the same process from my previous life again.
The hermit grumbled at Zig’s firm attitude and rolled around on the wooden bed.
“Ugh. Home is the best. Don’t go out for a while and just lie there and stretch out…”
“I found the holy relic.”
At Zig’s words the hermit sat up in surprise.
“What? Really?”
“Yes. As you said Tir had the holy relic. But why are you surprised? I came here after hearing what the hermit said.”
At Zeke’s words Eunja scratched her cheek with a blushing expression.
“No it’s more likely than not. I didn’t know if it was a real relic… But I’m glad to hear it’s true. Hahaha!”
Zig clicked his tongue at the hermit’s awkward laugh.
The hermit smiled and asked Zig.
“So what’s the second relic? Is it a shield like I said?”

“It’s not a shield but something similar.”
Zig took out Golin’s scabbard from his inventory and showed it to the hermit in the story. The hermit looked through the scabbard and was surprised.
“Wow what is this? Is it magic? It’s not magic… but it’s closer to sorcery?”
“I’ve always wondered what is the difference between magic and sorcery?”
The hermit thought deeply about those words and then shook his head.
“That’s a very difficult question. I’m not a wizard or a sorcerer so I don’t think I can explain it.”
“Weren’t you a magician Hermit?”
“Oh I’m a scholar.”
“Scholar? Can a scholar be a high table?”
“It’s possible for someone like me. I’m not an ordinary scholar.”
Zeke tilted his head at the incomprehensible words.
“What else could you be but a scholar?”
“It’s hard to explain. He’s a scholar who has attained enlightenment and reached the truth.”
“I have no idea what it is.”
“Anyway there is something like that. The difference between magic and sorcery is simply this. Magic is trying to formally interpret the truth of the world while sorcery is trying to understand and accept it in your own language. You could say that magic is deductive and sorcery is inductive.”
“What does that mean?”
“I told you I don’t think I can explain it.”
It was a hermit story that didn’t seem to be of much help in many ways.
Zik put aside the useless words and got to the point.
“The spirit of the hero Tyr told me what the third relic was.”
“What? Really? Where are you?”
“That… I already found it.”
“what?”
Zeke took out Agamemnon’s mask from his inventory.
The hermit looked at the mask and tilted his head.
“This is a holy relic? I can’t feel the power of a holy relic.”
“I was curious about that too but according to Tir you have to go to the lake of fairies to break the seal to unleash your true power.”
“Oh it’s the lake of fairies. What a headache.”
Hearing the hermit’s sudden sigh Zig asked.
“Why are you doing that?”
“Euuuum. Fairy Lake… Wait a minute.”
As the hermit waved his hand dozens of books appeared in the air.
As the books spread open the hermit looked through the contents of numerous books.
Then he grabbed a book and pulled it open causing it to expand enough for Zeke to see.
The hermit pointed to a passage in the book.
“Look here.”
Zig read the passage the hermit had pointed to and was astonished.

“The lake of fairies has disappeared?”
The hermit nodded.
“Yes. In the legend it is written that after the Hero King left for the Fairy Land the Fairy King also cut off contact with the mortal world and closed the Fairy Lake.”
“You closed the lake of fairies… Then why did Tir tell you to look for it?”
“I guess it wasn’t closed until Tir was there.”
If the Fairy Lake was closed the last relic could not be activated.
Zig who had been worrying took out his absolute compass.
The hermit looked at the compass curiously.
“What is that? I feel like I have some serious karma.”
“This is also an artifact I got from there. It says it points to the direction where you can find what you want but when I told it about the Fairy Lake it kept pointing in one direction.”
The story’s hermit was startled by Zig’s words.
“A compass that helps you find what you want?”
He quickly opened other books and searched through related content.
Then the hermit let out a sigh.
“Oh my god. This is an amazing item.”
“What is it?”
“It seems like the power of the constellation is directly embedded in it. It’s one of the few items in the phenomenal world.”
“It contains the power of the constellations?”
“Yes. The constellation that created it has the name ‘The noble steps that do not lose their direction.’ Although it is not a god with an incredibly strong power it is said that it often played a supporting role in providing various assistance to heroes in myths and legends.”
“Is there such a constellation?”
“Because in the past the constellations were able to intervene in the phenomenal world. But it would have been impossible for them to directly give their powers. But this constellation seems to have used various methods to contain its powers.”
Zeke was slightly surprised to hear that the ordinary-looking Nachamban contained the power of a constellation.
The hermit read the story further and was amazed.
“Once upon a time when the fisherman knight Reyes went in search of the Golden Fleece he lost his way and was shipwrecked and it was that compass that helped him at that time.”
If it was the Fisherman’s Knight Reyes then Zeke knew it too.
‘If it was that gentleman… I think he would have survived even if he got lost.’
There were many other cases besides that.
After seeing that the hermit came to one conclusion.
“If that compass worked then there’s a way to find Fairy Lake.”
“So should I just go in the direction indicated here?”
“It doesn’t just point to a location. It could also point to someone who knows how to find Fairy Lake. It calculates various causal relationships and tells you so you have to understand the context.”
Zeke remembered that the compass kept pointing to Yellin.
‘So you’re saying that if you follow the real Yellin you can find the Fairy Lake?’
The hermit said putting the book back.
“First of all it would be good to pay close attention to the compass direction. I will also ask the other members more about the Fairy Lake.”
“Okay but is there an easier way to contact you Eunja?”
“Hey you annoying guy. Just wait.”
He grumbled went back opened a drawer searched for something and handed Zeke a hand mirror.
“If you have an emergency call this number.”
“What should I do?”
“Look in that mirror and call me. Then I will appear there.”
“If you have something like this why didn’t you give it to me sooner?”
“I told you that anything I give even a small one requires karma. This time I’ve caught a lot of demons and now I have some free time so please accept it gratefully.”
Zeke nodded and took the hand mirror.
And at that moment Zeke woke up.
Returning to his original mansion Zeke discovered a hand mirror in his hand.
‘I wonder what the principle is.’
After shaking my head to regain consciousness I looked outside and saw that the sun had already risen.
“Okay. If we follow Yellin we’ll probably learn something about the Fairy Lake.”
He got ready and headed towards the hotel where Yellin and his party were.
* * *
Zeke and Yellin’s group headed straight to Mycenae and arrived at the newly built terminal.
In the area created inside the terminal there was a dedicated portal that Zig had installed separately.
As he went to the lounge the wizard who managed the portal approached Zeke.
“I have finished setting the coordinates as Sir Zeke said.”
“Okay. How long does it take to open the portal?”
“You can open it right now.”
“Then please open the portal right away.”
The wizard nodded and went back up to the control room.
Zeke and Yellin’s group passed through the lounge and climbed up the magic circle.
Wooooow!
Soon a vibration sound was heard and a portal opened above the magic circle.
“Let’s go.”
Zeke entered the portal with Yellin and his group.
Phew!
The portal disappeared and the scenery changed.
Zeke could smell the dry sand.
In front of us was the main palace of Ishtar where we had previously come.
thud!
And then Yellin and the crows knelt down.
Looking back Jamilla Ishtar appeared accompanied by hundreds of Ishtar’s mystics.
She dressed in traditional Ishtar attire glared at Zigg and said:
“Long time no see Sir Zeke.”
“It’s been a long time my lord.”
Then Jamilla looked at Zeke and said.
“I trusted you and sent you to the Central Continent without any hesitation. I can’t believe that the price you paid in return was a dishonorable lie.”
She said trembling.
“Do you know what I got when I asked Arthur about marriage? He blocked all my communication channels! It was a humiliating insult.”
Zeke was speechless at Jamilla’s words. Arthur Draker was the kind of person who would do something like that.
Jamilla took a deep breath to calm her excitement and glared at Zeke.
“If I think about it I wouldn’t feel good even if I tore you to pieces right now put you in a box and sent you to Arthur…”
Her eyes changed.
“I heard you have the Mark of the Black River.”
Zeke nodded after hearing that.
“Yes that’s right.”
Jamilla opened her mouth gritting her teeth.
“Take it out. If it’s not the real evidence you won’t get out of here alive.”
Jamilla’s murderous spirit was so fearsome that it was hard to believe she was of sacred high elf blood.
Zeke slowly took out Annexi’s dagger from his bosom. Jamilla swallowed as she saw the dagger.
“…Where on earth did you find that?”
“I can’t tell you that.”
At Zeke’s answer the life force burst out of Jamilla’s body again.
She too had reached the realm of the Black Knight as an invisible energy pierced Zeke’s entire body.
Jamilla said barely suppressing her anger.
“Hand over that dagger and I will spare your life.”
Then Zeke shook his head.
“That won’t do my lord.”
“What? Then I’ll kill you and take that dagger!”
At those words Yellin who had been kneeling on one knee suddenly stood up from her seat.
“That is absolutely not possible!”
Jamilla hearing her daughter’s voice for the first time in years glared at her and said.
“It was you Yellin who brought that guy to the palace. It was you who refused the marriage by oath. According to the law even if you are a small-scale person you cannot avoid punishment.”
He was a head of the household who applied strict standards even to his own daughter and the head of the household Yelin.
Then Zeke took a step forward and spoke to Gaju.
“I have something to tell you Master.”
As Zeke stepped forward Jamilla grew angry and poured out an invisible energy towards him.
Woohoo!
Zeke took the invisible energy that Jamilla was pouring out head-on.
Since they were both black knights they could have just received that energy but there was no need to show all the skills they had seen in the enemy territory.
Jamilla’s expression changed as she looked at Zeke who had received his power.
“This guy…..”
Zeke said to Gaju.
“I will go down to the labyrinth myself and break the pact with the dragon.”
At those words Jamilla as well as the elders and warriors of Ishtar behind her began to murmur.
Jamilla who heard the unexpected words gnashed her teeth and glared at Yellin.
“You really told that family secret to that Draker.”
Then Yellin did not back down and said:
“It was Sir Zeke who had the Mark of the Black River. If the prophecy is true we must see him as the savior who will break the chains of the family.”
At Yellin’s words the elders and warriors began to murmur again.
Jamilla stamped her foot.
Kookung!
A powerful blast shook the entire palace.
“Everyone be quiet. Yellin do you even know what you’re talking about?”
“Of course. It is a matter of resolving a long-held wish of the family that has lasted for two thousand years. How could I not wish for this?”
Jamilla tried to suppress her anger and glared at Yellin before turning her gaze back to Zeke.
He said looking at Zeke.
“You clearly said that you would go into the labyrinth yourself and break the shackles of the oath.”
“Yes.”
Then Jamilla smiled and said.
“You say such things because you have no idea what the Black River Hermit is.”
At Jamilla’s words Zeke glanced at Yellin.
‘Wasn’t it just a dragon?’
Jamilla opened her mouth slowly again.
“He is the first dragon to kill a dragon and he is trapped here by the Elder Dragon.”
