    Episode 238

    “Black Knight?”

Everyone gathered in the conference room was in an uproar at Ramon’s words.

Carly also looked at Ramon with an expression of disbelief.

He said this while looking at the owner Arthur Draker.

“If Abel Draker’s promotion to Black Knight is proven he will become the youngest Black Knight on the continent. This will not only raise the honor of the Draker family but also mean that there will be one more Black Knight belonging to the Draker family. This is a great feat that has been happening for the first time in over ten years since the former Black Knight Duke Draker lost his Black Knight status after failing in a mission.”

Several of the elders cleared their throats at the mention of Duke Draker.

The elders who were uncomfortable with mentioning him were those who had directly or indirectly participated in the past trial of Duke Draker.

Ramon showed discomfort when he first brought up the Duke Draker affair which had been hushed up as one of the Draker family’s dirty tricks.

Arthur nodded after hearing Ramon’s words.

“If Abel Draker has been promoted to Black Knight as Sir Ramon said then he is more than qualified to receive the rank of Guardian Knight.”

For a moment Arthur’s eyes became sharp.

An intangible energy emanated from his body. The air in the conference hall itself felt heavy.

Kali realized that Arthur Draker’s Astral Sword was aimed at this entire realm.

    ‘It’s hard to even breathe.’

If it was the true power of the Black Knight everyone in this conference room could die in an instant at his will.

    Arthur Draker said to Ramon.

“But if you impersonate the Black Knight you deserve to pay the price.”

An invisible spark flew between Ramon and Arthur.

Carly realized one thing as she watched her husband’s attitude.

    ‘Father also made a gamble.’

Ramon Siemens who had been locked up under the pretext of Abel Draker’s promotion to Black Knight was dragged out by hanging up the Guardian Knight.

If Abel Draker had not been promoted to Black Knight but was pretending to be then he was going to be nailed down so that he could not plot any more behind the scenes.

‘Even if Abel were to truly be promoted to a Black Knight it would be a gain for the Draker family. I cannot keep up with my father’s intentions.’

At that time news was delivered that the appointment ceremony was fully prepared.

Arthur put away his Astral Sword and said with a kind smile.

“Well then let’s go. I’m really looking forward to seeing if a new black knight will be born.”

    * * *

The halls of Atumpel were magnificently decorated for the appointment of a new Guardian Knight.

Inside the hall the commanders and vice-captains of the major knight orders as well as key figures from the blood alliance were gathered.

The Draker family was the center of leadership in the central continent.

As he was a guardian knight at the center of the Draker family’s power it was only natural that all the blood alliance families and the kingdoms of the central continent would be interested in him.

    Kookung!

The door opened and the host Arthur Draker and the other participants in the conference came in alone.

All of the real powers of Drake were gathered here.

Carly sat on the Guardian Knight’s seat in the hall and looked around the ornately decorated inauguration ceremony hall.

If it were discovered that Abel Drake had not been promoted to Black Knight it would not only be a disgrace but his reputation and that of the Siemens family would certainly fall to the ground.

‘But what if Abel had really been promoted to Black Knight…?’

It didn’t make sense to Carly.

Both she and Abel were promoted to Blue Knight faster than anyone else as pureblood Awakened Drakers and rose to the level of Red Knight.

But the Black Knight was on a whole other level.

Even among the famous knights who risked their lives with the sword most of them were unable to overcome the wall of the Black Knight.

The person who was promoted to Black Knight the fastest in history was Arthur Draker the current head of the Draker family and even Arthur was not promoted to Black Knight until he was in his 40s.

Abel now in his thirties was promoted to the rank of Black Knight an unprecedented event in the entire history of the continent.

    That was when.

    thud!

The door to Atumfell Hall opened and someone came inside.

A man enters wearing Draker’s uniform and with his red hair fluttering.

It was Abel Draker known as the Lion’s Sword.

He walked with a confident stride across the hall and approached the dragon throne where Arthur Draker sat.

The Dragon Throne made of dragon bones and hide symbolized the head of the Draker family the dragon slayers.

Arthur Draker greeted Abel from his seat on the dragon throne.

Abel bowed his head toward the master.

“The Dragon Slayer the head of the Draker family and the knight of knights the lord of the Atlas territory the center of Midland…”

Arthur Draker who had been listening quietly raised his hand to interrupt Abel.

“Okay. Normally I would have enjoyed hearing such a speech but that’s not important today.”

Arthur Draker rose from his seat.

Then he spoke to everyone gathered in the hall.

“I’m sure you’ve been wondering a lot about the sudden appointment of Guardian Knight today!”

Arthur Draker’s voice echoed throughout the hall.

Everyone focused on what he was saying.

    Arthur Draker continued.

“The Guardian Knight position is a position that represents the knight representing the Draker family. That is why it is true that the qualifications have been strictly verified and decided after synthesizing the opinions of many wise men! However!”

    Arthur Draker raised his voice.

“Abel Drake before me! If he has been promoted to a Black Knight I believe he is worthy of skipping all the procedures and receiving the title of Guardian Knight!”

Arthur Draker’s words shocked everyone gathered in the hall.

    “Huh the black knight?”

“Oh my god is the Lion Sword really that?”

Arthur clapped his hands as the room grew noisy.

The hall quickly became quiet as the sound of his clapping echoed through the hall.

    Arthur looked at Abel.

“Abel Draker. Can you prove to me here that you are the true Black Knight?”

Then Abel met Arthur’s eyes looked at him and nodded.

“I will follow your orders my lord.”

Abel turned his body from the dragon’s throne and looked at those gathered in the hall.

Then he pointed to one of those gathered.

“I would like to ask the Commander of Chusal.”

The chief of the slaughterhouse Dritan Turn rose from his seat at Abel’s nomination.

As expected of a knight of the House of Tourn his physique was much larger than that of an ordinary knight.

He glared at Abel his eyes sharp and his face covered in scars twitching.

    “What are you talking about?”

    Abel said with a smirk.

“I’ve always wanted to cross swords with the Chief of the Chusal. Will you give me that chance today?”

Dritan’s eyebrows quirked at Abel’s words.

It seemed polite but it ultimately meant that he wanted me to be his attendant to prove his promotion.

Dritan who had been silent rose up.

    thud!

As Dritan moved the entire hall seemed to shake.

Dritan Turn was a knight of the House of Turn who was renowned for being strong and upright.

He was also evaluated as one of the Red Knights of Draker and if he had been given the Draker surname he would have been on par with Gareth Draker who was given the title of Guardian Knight.

Instead Dritan had been holding the position of captain of the hunting party which had been held by the House of Turn for generations for ten years.

Because he was such a Dritan he would never have done anything like deliberately losing to Abel.

Dritan pulled out the sword he had on his back.

    Phew!

It was a large crude greatsword more like a club than a sword.

Dritan looked at Abel and said

“Since it is the Lion Sword’s request I will go with all my heart.”

Then Abel smiled and pulled out the Red Dragon Sword.

In the middle of Atumfell Hall Dritan and Abel drew their swords and aimed them at each other.

The first to move was Dritan.

    Hmph!

Dritan’s attacks using the Tourn-style dragon killing technique were simple and refreshing.

He handled the crude-looking greatsword perfectly and launched a series of short sword strikes towards Abel.

    Pachin! Pachin!

Abel swung his Red Dragon Sword and easily blocked Dritan’s attack.

Dritan felt that Abel’s sword which was blocking his sword strike was quite heavy.

He grabbed his sword again and charged forward.

    Phew!

Dritan’s greatsword sank into Abel’s waist.

A clean sword fight unfolded making it hard to believe that he had swung a greatsword.

    WHEEK!

Then Abel leaped into the air and climbed onto Dritan’s greatsword.

Everyone in the hall was astonished at Abel’s appearance which was like a miracle.

Since most of them were knights those in the room knew how great Dritan’s sword was and they knew full well that it would be absurd to completely destroy it and climb onto the sword.

Abel charged from his greatsword and swung his Red Dragon Sword at Dritan.

    Phew!

Dritan quickly swung his greatsword shaking off Abel and rolling his body to avoid the Red Dragon Sword.

    “Phew.”

Dritan who had been rolling on the floor took up his stance again and raised his greatsword.

Abel standing across from him was looking at Dritan leisurely without any disturbance at all.

    He said to Dritan.

“I want to see the true skills of the Chusal Captain.”

    Dritan frowned at Abel’s provocation.

He took up his stance again grabbed his sword and assumed the stance of the Tourn-style dragon killing technique.

Dritan who has a personality that is crude and stubborn to the point of being foolish always tries to stick to the basics.

Rex Tourn always praised it as Dritan’s greatest strength.

Abel smiled coldly for a moment as he looked at such a Dritan.

“Are you sure you want to come out like that?”

    Kookookookookook!

A different energy arose from Abel’s body.

Everyone in the hall felt a tingling sensation as if thousands of needles were pricking their skin.

Dritan who was hit head-on by Abel’s energy held his sword upright but his whole body was weighed down by the pressure of the invisible energy.

    ‘This energy is like….’

Although he didn’t want to admit it it was the same pressure he had felt when Rex Turner unleashed the power of the Black Knight.

Abel slowly approached Dritan holding the Red Dragon Sword.

If he were a normal knight he would have knelt down under the pressure alone but Dritan was different from normal knights.

Instead he shook off the pressure and stepped forward taking up his sword.

    “Haaaaaaah!”

Dritan who had shaken off the pressure by shouting unleashed the Tourn-style attack on Abel.

    Phew!

A greatsword with the aura of a giant bull that seemed ready to cut down anything in front of it fell towards Abel’s head.

    Kiing!

At that moment a sharp sound rang in the ears of everyone in the hall.

    “What what?”

The moment the others lost their gaze at the sharp sound Abel passed by Dritan’s body.

At the same time Dritan’s greatsword fell and blood began to spurt from the wounds all over his body.

    thud!

    Dritan fell to the ground.

    “Captain!”

The sergeants ran out examined the wounds of the fallen Dritan and dragged him out of the hall.

Everyone present was shocked to see the leader of the Chusal Squad who was said to never fall fall to Abel’s sword without being able to raise a hand.

Abel who was holding the Red Dragon Sword turned around and looked at Arthur sitting on the Dragon Throne.

But Arthur sat on the throne with a stern expression and said nothing.

Abel slowly approached Arthur. Then he opened his mouth to Abel.

“Although my skills are lacking I will do my best to not tarnish the honor of being a Guardian Knight.”

Abel struck first before Arthur could even acknowledge the promotion.

Arthur rose from the dragon throne.

He spoke to those gathered in the hall.

“The sixth black knight has been born to the Draker family!”

Arthur Draker’s words shocked everyone in the hall.

Since the head of the household personally acknowledged that Abel Draker was a Black Knight it was as good as officially recognizing him as the Black Knight of the continent.

    Arthur continued.

“I hereby appoint Abel Draker the sixth Black Knight of the Drakers as Guardian Knight of the Drakers.”

Arthur himself gave Abel a golden badge for his conquest.

    Clap! Clap!

Ramon who was sitting started clapping first.

Then applause began to break out one by one from those around.

Soon the entire hall was filled with thunderous applause and cheers.

Abel waved at them and smiled.

Kali’s eyes shook uneasily as she looked at Abel.
