    Episode 197

    “This is… Hersion?”

The magical armor that normally functions as a full plate armor when activated in the form of a back plate is collectively called Hersion.

Regular full plate armor was not easy to put on and take off was uncomfortable to move in and had to be custom-made to fit the wearer’s body which limited its availability.

The armor that the goblin dropped was different in shape but its basic structure was clearly that of a magical armor called Hersion.

“Even in Hell Mode with the highest difficulty setting Hersion comes out as a reward on the 11th floor?”

Zeke shook his head and checked Hersion’s information.

    -Armor Information-

Description: Light armor favored by elves.

    Unique ability: Lightweight

Special Features: Lightweight and durable making it easy to carry.

“This is the armor favored by elves? But why is a hobgoblin wearing it?”

Zeke examined the armor here and there.

After putting on his armor he tried to operate the Hersion.

Hersion reacted and transformed into the form of armor.

Zeke examined the armor covering his body.

It felt different when the goblin wore it.

“It’s not full plate armor but rather light armor. I guess that’s because it’s what elves use.”

Looking at the materials that make up the armor it doesn’t seem to be a precious metal like mithril or orichalcum.

‘It seems to be an early form of Hersion different from the Imperial Hersion. It has a much simpler structure.’

Zig released Hersion again and stored it in his inventory.

“Once I get out of here I should show it to Paynen. Maybe he can solve the mystery of Hersion that no one has been able to solve.”

Zeke was becoming increasingly curious about the true nature of this labyrinth.

Afterwards Zeke went back down the stairs and had to frantically deal with the monsters rushing at him.

The types of monsters varied from orc warriors and enhanced lizardmen to gnoll warriors and ancient kobolds.

As you go down to the lower floors the level of the monsters gradually increases and at the same time the experience points that Zeke gains also increase.

Since my healing factor and infinite stamina were limited I had to take breaks every so often so it took quite a while to defeat the monsters.

‘A group that reminds me of the Highlander days’

At that time I would lie in wait in one place for a week waiting for my target the devil.

Zeke who was calmly dealing with the monsters while regaining his senses from his previous life had already reached the boss room on the 30th floor.

As he entered a robed kobold waved his staff and fired magic at Zeke.

    Kwakwakwakwang!

Zeke rolled to the side to avoid the magic spell cast by the wizard.

‘The firing rate is fast. It’s difficult to deal with.’

Zig used a stamina recovery potion and then equipped Hersion.

    Clang!

As soon as he put on the Hersion Zik charged towards the Kobold wizard.

    “Kaaaah!”

The magic flew towards Zeke at high speed.

    Kwakwakwakwang!

The magic cast on Hersion did not work but Orichalcum was able to virtually nullify the Kobold Mage’s magic.

    Choaaaak!

The kobold wizard who was hit by Zeke’s sword was instantly reduced to ash and scattered.

    Clang!

As soon as the battle was over Zig released Hersion and took a deep breath.

“Whew. Just wearing it makes me lose all my strength.”

After catching his breath for a moment Zeke checked the artifact left behind by the Kobold wizard.

“An ancient kobold wizard’s staff. It looks good.”

After collecting the artifact and recovering his health Zeke carefully descended to the 31st floor.

But from the 31st floor onwards something felt different. The atmosphere was different when going from the 10th to the 11th floor but this time it felt even more ominous.

Zeke was impressed by the strange energy that permeated his entire body.

    ‘What is this?’

It felt like the air was filled with a sticky unpleasant aura.

Zig ran his hand over the wall. There was a sticky mucus on the wall.

‘It doesn’t seem to be toxic.’

    That was when.

I saw something approaching from across the hallway.

Zig hid his body and looked around.

    Thud thud thud thud!

Several large figures wearing armor appeared.

But the armor which looked very rough and heavy was of a type I had never seen before.

‘Monster? I’ve never seen monsters running around in such heavy equipment.’

One of the figures approaching Zeke opened the helmet that was covering his face.

It was the face of a race I had never seen before looking like either an orc or a human.

At that moment Inyoung took off his helmet and opened his mouth to those behind him.

    “■■ ■■■!!”

Even for Ziggy who understood most languages on the continent this was a language he was hearing for the first time.

‘The system interprets that for me.’

[The language of the ancient Orc race has been detected.]

    [Interpret the language.]

Zig was startled when he saw the message that appeared on the system.

    ‘Ancient Orc Race?’

At the same time the language of the Orcs was interpreted as the common language of the continent.

[Oh really Chief Ten there’s nothing here!]

Then the orc who had taken off his helmet struck the head of the orc he had just mentioned.

    [Cough!]

An orc that seemed to be a superior was trampling on another fallen orc.

[You little punk! You’re the one who’s the tenth leader!]

    [Crash!]

The superior orc got irritated and beat up his subordinate but then stopped beating him and gave an order to the orc who was being beaten.

The orc that had been right got up from his seat and took a strange posture with his head on the ground and his hands on his hips.

    ‘What is that doing?’

[Follow me. I’m worse than goblin shit.]

    [Ugh. I’m… a goblin… just a piece of shit…]

[Look at the kid’s voice. Do you want to get hurt?]

The strange repetition continued for a long time.

As he watched Zeke realized that the orcs’ actions were similar to the harsh acts that often occurred in mercenary groups.

‘The title ‘Siphojang’ is also used mainly by mercenaries. I don’t know if it’s a simple correction due to system translation or if it’s the real term.’

In small mercenary groups ranks were determined based on the order in which the members entered the group excluding the mercenary group leader.

However a large mercenary group with over a thousand members cannot operate that way.

So they split them into units of ten a hundred or a thousand and gave them the titles of ten-headed leader hundred-headed leader and thousand-headed leader to manage the members. Most of the mercenary groups in the Central Continent operated under this system.

I wondered why the ancient Orcs had a mercenary band structure.

While Zeke watched them with doubts the 10th platoon leader rolled his men over a few more times and then led the troops to another place again.

Zeke followed them keeping his voice low to find out what was going on.

As he was chasing the orcs Zeke witnessed something amazing.

    Papak!

The Orc unit was moving around defeating monsters that appeared everywhere.

Orc warriors wearing rough heavy armor and swinging huge axes freely gave off a strong sense of intimidation.

The monsters that the Orc warriors defeated also turned to ash and disappeared.

    [Move.]

They moved to another place following the Orc warrior called Squad Leader.

Zeke who was following them realized one thing.

The monster that appears on the 31st floor is not an orc.

Looking closely I saw mutant fungus roaming around.

‘Why are there ancient orcs walking around killing monsters?’

Zeke who continued to chase the orcs with a sense of wonder found out the reason.

It was confirmed that a colony of orcs had been created in the common area on the 31st floor.

    ‘Huh?’

None of the advice Rex Turn gave mentioned anything about the orcs taking up residence in the labyrinth.

‘Is it because it’s hell mode? It’s so different from what I heard.’

Although he was embarrassed Zeke had no time to waste.

I had to defeat the boss on the 31st floor and then move down further.

‘If I kill the orcs will they give me the same experience points as the monsters?’

After thinking about it for a moment Zeke decided not to touch it first since he wasn’t sure about it.

If you touched it wrong Orc warriors would swarm you like a swarm of bees and if you didn’t gain experience you would just be drained of strength.

Because his abilities were limited Zeke moved as cautiously as possible.

He turned on the map and found the boss’s room. On the map the boss’s room was across the village.

Since he couldn’t use his stealth skill he tried to hide his presence by crouching as much as possible and crossing the village to enter the boss’s room on the other side.

The orcs who had built a shack-like barracks in a haphazard manner were not particularly guarding but they had roughly placed a number of soldiers in the area adjacent to the boss room.

As Zeke passed through the village safely and was about to sneak into the boss’ room

An orc who had been standing guard while dozing off noticed Zeke standing in front of the door.

    [Intruder! There’s an intruder!]

At the shout that was almost a battle cry the Orc warriors who had been snoring in their barracks immediately rushed out with their axes in hand.

    ‘this….’

Zeke hurriedly opened the door to the boss’s room.

    Kookookookook!

He quickly entered the stone chamber as he saw the orc warriors running towards him with their eyes wide open.

    thud!

When I entered the boss room I thought the door would close but it was wide open and wouldn’t close.

Zig rolled into the room and faced the boss monster inside the stone chamber.

    ―Ferocious Mutant Fungus Level 35―

A ferocious mutant fungus dripping red fluid it was three times larger than other mutant funguses.

    Kaaaak!

A ferocious mutant fungus opened its huge mouth wide spitting red fluid at Zeke.

At the same time the battle cries of the orcs could be heard behind them.

    Woohoo!

In front a boss monster and behind a troop of orcs rushed toward Zeke.

Zeke took Bahamut and aimed at the boss monster first.

    “You first!”

    Woohoo!

An aura blade shot out from Zeke’s sword.

    Dragon’s Sword Technique

    Chapter 3 Section 2

    Half moon flying

The crescent moon that flew from Zeke’s sword split the body of the ferocious mutant fungus in two.

    Keeeeek!

The boss monster screamed and vomited out fluids.

However tentacles sprouted from the severed area and slowly began to regenerate.

    “This guy?”

Zeke swung his sword again at the ferocious mutant fungus.

    Kwakwakwakwang!

The boss monster whose tentacles were cut off by the auror blade swung by Zeke writhed in pain and sprayed bodily fluids all around.

It was at that moment when Zeke was about to deliver a decisive blow to the boss monster with his full power.

    [Die!]

From behind an orc warrior swung a huge axe.

    Bang!

Zeke swung his sword and struck down the orc warrior’s axe.

Then he immediately raised his Auror Blade and cut down the Orc warrior through his thick armor.

    [You earn 55 experience points.]

    ‘oh.’

You can obtain much higher experience points than normal monsters.

‘I should have lured them away little by little and then killed them first.’

I had avoided it because I was afraid I wouldn’t gain experience but I felt regretful because I ended up gaining a lot of experience points. But now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that.

The body of the fallen Orc Warrior turned to ash and disappeared like the other monsters.

[The cursed soul of an ancient Orc warrior escapes the realm of the dungeon.]

‘Why this message…? Are orcs somehow different from other monsters?’

Meanwhile the mutant fungus which had recovered its body rushed towards Zeke.

    Keeeeek!

It twitched and swung its sharp thorny tentacles toward Zig.

    WHEEK!

Zeke dodged the tentacles drew up his elemental power and prepared to use the Elemental Sword.

‘Elemental Swords consume a lot of mana so lower the output as much as possible….’

He unleashed a blaze of firepower.

    Whoosh whoosh!

Pure fire shot out from his sword. As expected without infinite stamina and the gluttony skill his mana was consumed incredibly quickly.

    “Cha-ha-ha!”

Zeke vowed to finish it off quickly and unleashed a barrage of pure fire toward the boss monster.

    Kwakwakwakwa!

The pure fire that burned everything completely burned the mutant fungus.

    Keeeeek!

The mutant fungus screamed and disappeared into ash.

However no reward experience or random box came out.

“Surely there is no compensation if I don’t kill it with a direct hit?”

The compensation conditions were quite strict.

Moreover I realized a bigger problem with the Elemental Sword.

The mana consumption was much greater than expected.

“I should refrain from using the Elemental Sword. If I do it wrong I’ll be the first one to get tired and fall over.”

At that moment a troop of orcs charged towards Zeke.

Zeke held onto Bahamut and sharpened his senses. It felt like his senses from his previous life were returning.

    Woohoo!

    Pachin!

Zeke struck Bahamut with his axe as he charged and it impaled the axe’s owner’s neck.

    [Cough!]

The orc who had his neck stabbed by him smiled subtly and fell down.

Zeke likewise cut down all the orcs that rushed towards him.

    Choaaaak!

    “Haaaah!”

He swung his sword again and again shouting and concentrating on the battle itself.

If I think about it every day was like this in my past life.

Zeke felt his heart soften as he recalled the sensation of a fierce battle that he had forgotten.

As my body relaxed and became softer the sword movements became more natural.

It felt like the first time in a long time that I was wearing clothes that fit me just right.

    “Phew.”

When I came to my senses I saw fallen orcs scattered all over the boss’ room.

All the dead orcs turned to ash and scattered.

Zeke approached the one of them who was still breathing.

“Hey Orcs. What on earth are you guys?”

Then the orc who had been leaning against the wall and panting for breath looked at Zeke with a surprised expression.

    He opened his mouth.
