    Episode 185

Zeek was impressed by Richmond’s words.

“Don’t just look at it roughly. Look at it carefully and with all your heart.”

“Yes sir. Oh my lord. This mansion is perfect for hiding and conducting research.”

Zick kicked Richmond in the shin as he was talking nonsense.

    “Ouch! It hurts.”

“Stop joking around on the Rich topic and just follow me. I’m going to lift the curse on the mansion.”

No matter what kind of ghost it was it wouldn’t be difficult to dispel it with the power of the Great Purification.

Zeke took Richmond up the hill.

However just as Richmond said the atmosphere was eerie and there was no particular sense of evil.

    ‘What? Are people just hallucinating?’

    That was when.

    Swish!

A black shadow moved inside the mansion.

    Zeke shouted at Richmond.

    “Richmond! Get that ghost!”

Richmond transformed into Ark Richie in an instant and flew into the air.

In the air Richmond chased and on the ground Zeke chased.

But at some point the black ghost dispersed like smoke and disappeared.

Zeke conveyed his will to Richmond.

‘Can you see where the Richmond ghost has gone?’

‘I can’t see you here either Master.’

Richmond came down from the air and returned to Zeke.

“Something feels strange. I don’t feel any ghosts or magical energy.”

“Yeah but it didn’t seem human.”

I think I understand a little why it had been known as a cursed place for a thousand years.

Zeke decided to go inside the mansion with Richmond.

The mansion had been neglected for a long time and was full of vines and the walls were broken in places but considering that it had stood for over a thousand years it was in practically the same condition as before.

Zeke entered through the broken walls of the mansion keeping a wary eye on his surroundings.

    “Hmm.”

The inside of the mansion was also full of old dust and had an eerie atmosphere but there was no particularly evil aura.

    Richmond rather liked this atmosphere.

“Wow it’s spacious and comfortable really nice. It’s perfect for research Master. I wish I had a mansion like this as a research lab…”

“There’s a lot of noise in Richmond.”

Richmond shut his mouth immediately at Zeek’s blow.

He bent down and opened his eyes to examine the mansion.

After a while Zeke surprisingly found another trace that wasn’t a ghost.

    ‘It’s a trace of a person.’

Throughout the mansion there were signs of secret human presence.

There were only a limited number of people who could leave such a secret trace.

‘Are they assassins? They are not ordinary guys. They are specially trained guys.’

Zeke shared the view of the dragon soldiers guarding the mansion checking for any enemies lurking.

But I couldn’t find any other traces.

‘What the heck. I thought Howard must have set the trap. Did I get there too soon?’

It was Zig who arrived at Baranaon early on purpose to take a surprise attack.

But perhaps because they arrived earlier than expected there was no trace of the trap and no one was there.

Slightly confused Zeke decided to follow the traces left in the mansion. Most of the traces were headed in one direction.

    ‘Are you chasing something?’

Zeke followed the trail into the mansion.

When they got a little way in Zeke found another trace.

He lowered his head and examined the marks on the floor.

    “There’s blood.”

    Zeke gestured to Richmond.

“Richmond check what kind of blood this is.”

Richmond grumbled as he examined the blood on the floor then dabbed a little bit with his hand and put it in his mouth.

“Whoa! Whoa! Master is this human blood?”

“Human blood. How long do you think it’s been?”

“It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since I saw the blood. Maybe two days at most?”

It didn’t seem like the blood was shed by an adventurer or a free knight who entered the mansion.

‘Could it be that the guys waiting to set a trap here were possessed by a ghost?’

It was a ridiculous hypothesis but there was nothing else that could explain the situation.

Zeke looked at the spot where the bloodstain had fallen. It was pointing towards the stairs leading down to the basement of the mansion.

“Hmm is this also a trap?”

Just in case Zeke called a few of the Dragon Soldiers guarding the border over here.

“Go down and check out the situation down there.”

The dragon soldiers nodded and went down the stairs.

Since Zeke could scout within the maximum distance that he could summon and use his dragon teeth he should be able to explore to some extent.

After sending down the dragon’s teeth Zeke took out a field bed from his inventory and lay down to rest.

“Master is there anything for me?”

    “….”

Richmond was a place with many rich themes.

    * * *

    “Gasp gasp!”

A man ran hurriedly down a dark hallway.

    The man’s name is Airen.

He was a special assassin agent belonging to the Magical Legion.

‘Fuck! What the hell is that?’

Aaron barely managed to hide behind the wall.

He turned the gun he had on his back toward him and took a deep breath.

    “Hoo hoo.”

The cold metallic feel of the gun touched my forehead and I felt a little calmer.

They lost all of their comrades to a mysterious entity that was chasing them.

‘What kind of absurd cases are these?’

Ayran and his colleagues were sent to Baranaon on a special mission from their superiors.

The order was to lie in wait at Baranaon’s mansion and eliminate the target when they came.

It seemed like eliminating the target wouldn’t be difficult since not only themselves but also knights and wizards of unknown affiliation and even warlocks with suspicious chimeras had gathered here.

The Magical Legion assassins including Eiren were acting as snipers so after arriving they waited outside the mansion and waited for their targets to come.

But something happened two days ago.

As I was observing the situation in the mansion through the telescope I saw a black shadow moving inside.

Upon discovering the abnormal phenomenon Eiren immediately sent a signal to other units.

However there was no contact from the others who were waiting inside the mansion.

Aeron decided to contact the Assassins and investigate the situation at the mansion.

They were not only snipers but also skilled assassins and formally trained knights.

We were ready to complete the mission no matter what the target.

But that thought was shattered the moment I entered the mansion.

An unidentified ghost appeared killed his colleagues one by one and dragged them away without a trace.

Even the special bullets issued by the Magical Legion did not work on the ghosts.

Eiren was chased by a ghost into the basement of the mansion and was trapped in this underground maze for two days unable to eat drink or sleep properly being chased by the ghost.

Aaron’s face was covered in cold sweat.

    That was when.

    ‘Coming.’

Aaron’s keen senses sensed something approaching.

It was such a subtle movement that I wouldn’t have even noticed it if it had been a normal article.

Aaron caught his breath then immediately raised his gun and leaned his body out of the wall.

    Phew! Phew!

The magic gun glowed and fired bullets.

    Kiiing!

The bullet pierced through the black shadow.

However the shadow’s body only blurred momentarily and it appeared as if it had not been hit at all.

    ‘Fuck.’

Because of that damned ghost the entire unit waiting here including his comrades disappeared.

What was worse was that there were more than one or two such ghosts.

They moved in groups as a unit with the theme of ghosts.

    Clank clank.

I’ve used up all the bullets I received from the Magic Legion.

Ayran slung his gun behind his back and pulled out the sword that was hanging from his leg.

It was a deformed sword that was longer than a dagger and shorter than an arming sword and was a sword exclusively issued to special agents of the Magical Legion.

Because it was an artifact with the ‘Sharp’ magic it could easily cut through even thick heavy armor.

‘I guess I’ll have to pray that magic can banish ghosts too.’

Aeron took a deep breath then stood up just as the wraith approached and swung his sword.

    Shhh!

Eiren’s sword passed through the black shadow.

    Phew!

At that moment the black shadow also swung its sword.

    Pachin!

A sharp sword strike deflected Eiren’s sword.

    “Ugh!”

    Aaron stepped back.

He raised his sword and glared at the ghost.

The body was blurred by the darkness but the figure of the spirit holding the sword was clearly visible. Eiren immediately jumped towards the spirit.

    Pachin!

The ghost skillfully defended itself against Eiren’s sword strikes.

From Aaron’s perspective it felt like he was dealing with a seasoned knight.

Ayran who was wielding his sword took advantage of the opportunity to throw the magic bullet he was holding in his other hand directly at the ghost.

    Kwakwakwakwang!

A huge beam of light poured out as the magic bullet exploded.

    Tsk tsk tsk―

Soon the shadow of the ghost disappeared as if scattering.

    “Phew. Phew.”

After two days of dealing with the ghosts this was the only way to drive them away.

It seemed that the spirit form could not be maintained when exposed to the light produced when a magic bullet was detonated.

Thanks to this method discovered through the deaths of his comrades Eiren has barely managed to survive until now.

The problem was that I had run out of magic bullets.

‘I have to get out of this mansion somehow.’

I had to get out of the labyrinthine basement of the mansion and get outside.

Aaron tried to find a way out before the ghost came again.

    That was when.

    He felt someone approaching him.

    ‘Could it be another ghost?’

But the approaching sound was different from before.

Aaron stood guard against the wall looking around.

I felt Inyoung dressed in black armor approaching from the end of the hallway.

Aaron looked at the sign and felt confused.

‘Who is it? It doesn’t seem to be a ghost. Could it be the target?’

It was difficult to identify him because he was wearing black armor and a black mask.

As Ayran held his breath and stood on guard the black figure also stood there without moving.

    ‘what?’

Aaron was confused as he looked at the black figure that had suddenly stopped.

But soon he gathered his courage and carefully drew out his sword.

‘If they are enemies eliminate them now.’

Aeron burst out from behind the wall and ran towards the black figure.

    Pachin!

Inyoung who had been standing still suddenly moved again and blocked Eiren’s attack with her shield.

    Boom!

Inyoung pushed Eiren away with her shield drew her sword and swung it at him.

    visor!

Eiren blocked the incoming attack and dove in thrusting his sword between the armor.

    Phew!

But I didn’t feel anything caught on the sword I was stabbing with.

    ‘what?’

A surprised Aaron immediately stepped back and regained his composure.

The enemy who had been stabbed by the sword approached again raising his shield and taking a stance as if nothing had happened.

Aaron looked at Inyoung with confused eyes.

‘Could that be a ghost too…?’

    That was when.

    bang!

Aaron was hit hard on the back of the head and fell unconscious.

    thud!

Behind the fallen Aaron stood none other than Zeke.

    “What is this guy?”

Zig muttered with a slight frown. The Yong-a soldier who had been sent out to scout was fighting with some guy so he came down and subdued the opponent himself.

He searched the unconscious Eiren’s body and checked his equipment.

Zeke was shocked to see the gun he was holding.

“What the hell is this magic gun? This has already been made? You have this… What the hell are you doing?”

Magic guns that fired bullets with magic were weapons that occasionally appeared during the Continental War.

However since this weapon itself was difficult to produce and very expensive after the war it was generally used as a toy for the amusement of the nobles.

Since it wasn’t very useful compared to its price not many people used it in actual combat even in Zig’s previous life but I didn’t know that there would already be someone carrying it around.

Zeke shook his head and searched Aaron’s arms further before finding something.

It was a cartridge case that was kept after using special bullets.

Zeke stared at the cartridge case for a moment then called out to Richmond who was behind him.

“Richmond check out what energy is left here.”

Richmond took the cartridge Zeke handed him examined it carefully and sniffed it.

    Then he tilted his head.

“Master it’s faint but I can sense some magic here.”

Zeke nodded as if he knew that would happen.

Then he looked at the fallen Aaron and ground his teeth.

“This kid is a night killer.”
