A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 183

Episode 183
[what?]
Arataso responded to Zeke’s words in a voice that seemed to say that it was absurd.
“Why don’t you want to tell me?”
There has never been such unreasonableness.
Now it was Zigg who was trying to threaten the Demon Tribe and steal their technology.
‘What kind of guy is this?’
In his entire life as a demon he had never met a person like this.
Aratasso shouted at Zeke.
[Why should I tell you that! And how can a human learn the Demon Tribe’s barrier technique in the first place!]
Zeke responded with a snicker to Aratasso’s words.
“I’ve learned the swordsmanship of the King of Heroes so how can I not learn the barrier technique of the Demon Tribe?”
At his words Aratasso spoke with a trembling voice.
[Hey Hero King? Don’t lie!]
“It’s true. I can’t believe what people say because I’m afraid they might say I’m a demon.”
Arataso muttered to himself as if he couldn’t believe what Zeke said.
[The swordsmanship of the King of Heroes? That’s ridiculous. That’s impossible….]
“Why are you mumbling like that to yourself? Are you going to tell me or what? If you’re not going to tell me then don’t tell me. Just live your whole life sealed inside this sword.”
It was when Zeke slowly tried to take his hand off the sword.
Then Aratasso called him in an urgent voice.
[Wait a minute!]
Zeke waited for Arataso to speak his hand barely able to take off his sword.
Aratasso said in an anxious voice.
[If I teach you the art of binding will you let me go?]
“I can tell by looking at you.”
[You coward! Speak clearly! Are you going to let me go?]

Then Zeke raised his voice again.
Whoosh whoosh!
[Kwaaaaak!]
“Where did you raise your voice? I was going to seal you away forever but I felt sorry for you and gave you a chance.”
As soon as Zeke took back the Holy Fire Arataso quickly changed his words.
[Fuck. Got it. I’ll teach you the barrier technique. But promise me you’ll never use that damn fire.]
“Are you talking about the Holy Spirit?”
[Okay I’ll tell you if you swear you won’t use that holy fire or whatever.]
After much thought Zeke accepted Arataso’s conditions.
Arataso said in an annoyed voice.
[But I can’t take responsibility if you don’t learn.]
“If you teach me wrongly it’s a breach of contract. I think you’ll be sealed together with Seonghwa.”
Arataso ground his teeth at Zeke’s shoulder blade.
‘A man more devilish than the devil.’
After a while a somewhat genuine Arataso asked Zeke.
[You already have great strength for a human. I can’t believe it but you even learned the swordsmanship of the King of Heroes so what else do you plan on learning?]
“I will use anything to become stronger.”
[What a peculiar person.]
“And before that you said that Aura was a demonic technique. Explain what that means.”
[That’s literally it. The technology you call Aura was created by stealing our fighting skills.]
“Who stole it?”
[How could we possibly know all the things that those cunning humans did? Maybe one of the stupid demons who made a contract with a human told us.]
The magic used by humans was passed down from dragons.
On the other hand the world did not know how Aura was created.
I knew that Zikya Shatton Drake who had obtained the ability had created the Auror method to kill dragons but I still did not know the exact process through which it was completed.
‘Shatton Draker made a contract with the Demon Tribe and created the Auror training method?’
It was hard to imagine that he the successor of King Hero Caesar and known as a noble knight would make a contract with the Demon Tribe.
Zeke said to Arataso.
“You’ll know if the aura really came from the demon tribe like you said when you try it out.”
Arataso gritted his teeth at Zeke’s words and began to explain the barrier techniques he knew.
[I am the first rider of the ‘Clear Green Wish’ and am the one who receives and uses the greatest power. Thanks to this I was able to use this power….]
“Leave the small talk behind you and get to the point.”
[…I’m starting to wonder if you’re really human. Anyway… Okay. Let’s get to the main point. The barrier technique I used originated from the fighting technique ‘??????????????????’.]
Perhaps because it is the unique language of the Demon World it was not translated.
Zig asked the system to translate it in a way that felt most similar to it.
[It is a proper noun using the word Chronos and is most similar in meaning to the word ‘strong wave resonance.’]
“It’s a strong resonance.”

Zig named the technique Gangpa Resonance and told Arataso to continue his explanation.
[It is important to secure a territory in Gangpa Resonance. It is about establishing a territory using energy and then taking away the power of enemies who enter that territory.]
“When you say territory are you talking about the barrier created by sticking a sword into the ground?”
[Yes. In the phenomenal world I had no choice but to create a barrier through a medium since I was using a clone instead of my original body but originally I was creating a barrier using the energy I possessed.]
“Hmm I don’t know just by listening to you.”
[I don’t know if a human being can do this but a promise is a promise so I’ll let you know.]
Then suddenly the Uncheolgeom began to tremble slightly.
[Remember this vibration.]
“What is this?”
[It creates resonance using vibrations to create a boundary between the four areas.]
Zeke watched the faint vibrations that Aratasso created.
‘Is it by hitting mana with mana to create vibrations?’
Zig who was a sacral limb could immediately imitate anything he saw once.
He immediately took out Bahamut and tried to create the vibrations that Aratasso had created.
Woohoo!
It was a power that utilized mana itself not elemental power or aura.
Arataso was surprised when Zig immediately started to create vibrations.
[Ah no! How can a human resonate with a strong wave…?]
“Did you think I couldn’t do it? Stop talking and tell me the next step quickly.”
[Then… the next….]
Through Arataso’s explanation Zeke who was learning the fighting techniques of the Demon World was able to understand the principles.
In the phenomenal world mana a natural power cannot be used as is so the power is converted into magic power or aura and used.
But the demons had a completely different way of handling power.
Just as mana exists in the phenomenal world in the demon world there exists a power of authority created by each constellation in each area and the followers can use that power.
The stronger the power of a constellation the wider the area it covered and the higher the density of its power.
Aratasso’s master ‘The Clear Green Wish’ was a strong demon ranked within the top 50 so it was said that his territory was quite wide.
There I was able to hear more stories from the demon world that had nothing to do with the art of barriers but it was said that since the retinue could only use the power of the constellation they served it was impossible for them to betray.
There was one exception and that was the Constellation Wars.
If you were defeated in a battle between demons and lost ownership of your clan and territory you could receive the power of that constellation and become a clan member.
Since the power of the demons comes from strong clans and realms this constellation battle was extremely important in raising the rank.
While listening to the explanation Zeke asked Arataso.
“Then why do demons and devils make contracts and take human souls?”
[Human souls are an excellent material for strengthening power. They can strengthen the power of the clan and expand the territory of the constellation.]
“The human soul has such power?”
[The soul of all living beings with free will contains strong energy. The reason we prefer humans is because humans have the strongest desires of all species. If there is desire it is easy to specify the price of a contract.]
Zeke nodded after hearing Aratasso’s words.
As he said no race was as vulnerable to temptation as humans.
“Wait a minute if it’s like you said that the followers use their power by receiving the power of the constellations then what is magic?”
[It is a tainted power. It is an unclean power created by souls who have completely fallen into corruption lost their reason and fallen into the abyss.]
“I didn’t know that the Demon Race thought of Magi that way.”
[It is a low-level power used by low-level demons who cannot use the power of the constellations or by demons who lack intelligence. High-level demons like me don’t even look at it.]
“The Riders of Blood and Madness use incredibly harsh and negative powers. Is that a different power from Magic?”
[I hate to think about those barbarians. Most of the constellations that the Orcs worshipped in the past used such barbaric powers. They are strong but the power itself is wild and quickly drives users to madness.]
I could hear Arataso’s voice gritting his teeth as if he really hated it.
‘It seems that the demons of the Demon World also use various types of power.’
After that while listening to various stories Zeke learned the throwing technique from Aratasso. Fortunately the throwing technique could be applied with mana so it was not difficult for Zeke to learn.
Zeke created waves by vibrating his mana according to the strong wave resonance that Aratasso had told him about.
Wooooow!
The resonance caused by Zigg gradually expanded the range of the waves. But at some point the power of the waves gradually diminished.
“Hoo!”
Zigg stopped resonating and took a deep breath.
“It’s harder to hold out than I thought.”
The magic of the demon world was a technique that utilized the power of the realm.
Arataso explained that it is not easy to create resonance and sustain it because the density of the mana of the phenomenal world is lower than that of the power of the realm.
Zigg wanted to apply this strong wave resonance to Fab’s infinite chain of events.
If you activate the Infinite Chain which restricts the opponent’s movement with resonance and allows you to continuously attack within that area it is possible to defeat many enemies with minimal damage.
Unlike Zeke who was feeling regretful Arataso was amazed at the resonance Zeke had created.
[Wow I really thought a human could succeed in resonating with the waves. How amazing.]
“Do the demons know how to do all these fighting techniques?”
Then Arataso shouted.
[What kind of nonsense is that! There are only a handful of people in the Demon Tribe including me who know how to properly perform the Gangpa Resonance. What about the Tumas? This resonance itself isn’t something that can be learned easily in the first place.]
“But after learning about it I found out that the principles of Gangpa Gongjin and Auror Yeongongbeop are completely different?”
Then Arataso clicked his tongue and said.
[The technique you call Aura is a very trivial fighting technique for us demons. For a high-level demon like me tangible power is as easy as breathing. However humans are not even good at that so they store mana in their bodies and barely manage to tangible it by loading it into weapons. It is proof that we are an inferior race by nature.]
“You’re so good at talking even though you were captured and sealed by that kind of person.”
[Ahem.]
Zeke spoke to Arataso creating a faint resonance.
“Anyway what you’re saying is that this resonance wave is a higher level technique than Aura.”
[Yes. Resonance cannot be created by simply accumulating power. Ignorant people like the Blood and Madness Riders will never be able to use it even if they wake up after dying.]
Since it was the words of the Demon Tribe it was impossible to know how much of it was true but it was definitely a technique with a new perspective.
Zeke said to Arataso.
“You did pretty well so I’ll give you a reward. What else do you want besides not using the Holy Spirit?”
[Let me go with honor.]
“That won’t do.”
[Then don’t leave it in that strange space. Take the sword out. Let’s go see the phenomenal world.]
“Okay I can do that much. It might be hard to keep it out all the time but I’ll take it out often and let you look at it.”
Zig readily accepted and began training.
It was while I was practicing the Gangpa Resonance and Infinite Chain in the training room of the castle.
Decker came to see Zeke.
“My lord I have news from the Four Seasons Castle.”
“I told you not to call me Lord Decker just call me by my usual name.”
“Title is how rank is created.”
Knowing Decker’s stubbornness Zeke shook his head and passed over it.
“Why all of a sudden in Sagyeseong?”
“This is a call to ask you to undertake a specific mission.”
“Assigned mission?”
Usually the assigned mission was a request given to a knight with a lot of experience.
This was because the assigned missions themselves were often difficult and challenging.
Zik stood up from his seat after thinking about it.
“I don’t know what it is but I guess I’ll have to go to Sagyeseong first.”
“Shall we wait for the carriage?”
“No it’s okay. I’ll go alone.”
Since it was unknown when the Nostra Family would attack it was better to move secretly alone.
Zeke asked Decker to take care of Zion in the dungeon and immediately started preparing to go out.
It seemed safest to leave it here until Arina returned from her mission.
The next day Zeke rode Bucephalus and raced to Atlas. It would have been convenient to use the portal but he deliberately avoided it because it would have drawn attention.
If we were talking in general terms it would have taken two weeks to travel this distance no matter how fast we went but on the Bucephalus it only took about two days.
Zig went straight into the Four Seasons.
When he was about to receive his assigned mission from the assignment department he received unexpected news.
“Are you saying that this is a mission that the lord himself assigned you?”
The clerk nodded.
“Yes. Sir Zeke told me to send you to the master’s office when you arrive.”
If it was a mission assigned directly by the head of the household it didn’t seem like it would be an ordinary mission.
Zeke went up to the headmaster’s office looking puzzled.
As he entered the owner Arthur Draker greeted him warmly.
“Zeke you’re here. We were talking about you anyway. Sit over here.”
In the headmaster’s office a person Zeke knew had already arrived and was sitting there.
