A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 173
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 173
A wagon arrived at a farmhouse on the outskirts between Heli and Mycenae.
The man driving the carriage said looking at the luggage.
“Master they are all here.”
The man was Richmond transformed into a transformation cloak.
Zig who had been hiding under the cart raised himself up.
“You arrived safely without being caught.”
Zeke escaped the helicopter riding Richmond who had been transformed into a demon.
Richmond had about an hour to transform into a demon so he came to Anga on a cart he had prepared in advance before his transformation wore off.
Zig got off the cart and took out the box he had left under the hay.
When I opened the box lid which had been nailed shut I saw Dario curled up inside.
“Ugh.”
Dario was transported in a box for several days.
Zeke dragged Dario out and took him inside the farmhouse.
As I entered the house Boris and Visko appeared.
“boss.”
Zeke threw Dario whom he had dragged along on the floor and spoke to Boris.
“You escaped safely. The Rose Knights and the Syndicate.”
“The Knights and Syndicate members dispersed and went into hiding on their own. They decided to join up later on the Mycenae side.”
Both of them were skilled at escaping and diving.
Zeke nodded.
“Put this guy down there. I’ll start interrogating him in a bit.”
Bisco quickly captured Dario and took him to the prison he had built underground.
Zeke looked at the scene and asked Boris.
“What does that guy look like?”
“It’s better than I thought. He’s quick-witted and quick-moving.”

“That’s unexpected. I thought you’d be picky about the people you command.”
“Even when I was in Room 13 I treated my juniors well. I was even voted number one as the agent they wanted to partner with.”
Zeke looked incredulous then asked another question.
“What’s the situation on the helicopter side?”
“It’s all according to plan. They’ve only targeted the Nostra Family’s front companies and even brought out the undead so it looks like it’s a terrorist attack by Red Eye.”
“It helped that Red Eye and Nostra were on the brink of war.”
“Yes. There’s been a lot of fighting in the eastern region lately. Soma sells quite well in the Eastern Empire but Jason can’t touch it since it’s Drake territory so it seems like there’s a lot of territorial disputes on the outskirts of the neutral cities.”
“If it’s a neutral zone then it’s where the Alchemist’s Tower is right?”
“Since there are many alchemists over there it’s easy to find technicians to refine soma and it’s also easy to arrange for ships to be sent to the Eastern Empire.”
“That makes sense.”
“It was originally an area managed by Red Eye but the Nostra Family gradually increased their power and recently they have been openly creating workshops which has led to more conflict.”
“I thought Red Eye was originally only involved in arms trading. But now they’re also getting involved in Soma.”
“There are more Soma left than weapons. They say it’s very salty if you hand it over to the Eastern Empire.”
If Red Eye was facing off against the Nostra Family a giant mafia organization in the Central Continent it seemed like they could easily turn their attention in that direction.
Zeke said to Boris.
“To further spread misinformation and create confusion.”
“But what are you going to do if a real war breaks out?”
“If we fight each other with our swords it will create a gap and it will be easy for someone to attack us.”
“Are you trying to completely erase the Nostra Family just like the McCain Cartel?”
Zeke shook his head.
“It’s a little different now. The more you dig into the Nostra family the more suspicious it becomes. We have to dig deep and find out who the boss is.”
Boris shook his head at those words.
“If someone else said that I would have laughed and laughed but when the boss said it I couldn’t laugh.”
“Did you hear anything more about the Nostra Family when you were in Room 13?”
“The mafia side is not my responsibility so I only know what I’ve heard from other colleagues. I haven’t heard anything about the general boss.”
Zeke also had no recollection of any incident involving the Nostra Family’s overall boss in his previous life.
‘Was it because of the Continental War that he was hiding?’
If not they may have been eliminated by the Empire or participated in the war on the Empire’s side although it was not apparent.
“I guess we’ll just have to hope Dario answers the rest correctly.”
After taking a short break Zeke headed to the dungeon where Dario was.
Clank!
Dario’s hands and feet were handcuffed but even so the guy ran towards Zig as he came down to the prison cell.
“asleep!”
He tried to stab Zig with the iron skewer he had been secretly hiding.
Pot!
In an instant Zeke snatched the iron skewer from Dario’s hand and threw it at the wall.
The iron skewers were driven all the way into the solid stone wall.

“Ugh.”
Dario felt that his powers were useless against Zeke and fell into despair once again.
Zeke grabbed Dario by the neck.
“Cough!”
“How pathetic. This guy is one of the bosses of the Nostra family.”
Zeke threw Dario against the wall.
“Ugh!”
Dario gasped for breath at the shock that felt like his back was being shattered.
Zeke pulled up a chair and sat down in front of Dario looking down at him.
“How about we answer my questions neatly so we don’t tire each other out?”
Then Dario raised his head and spat at Zeke.
Zeke slightly turned his head to avoid the spit Dario spat at him then nodded and took out a healing potion.
“Yeah. That’s how everyone starts out.”
Zeke opened Dario’s mouth and forced the healing potion into him.
“Ugh!”
Regardless of his will the healing potion restored Dario’s body and stamina.
Zeke pulled the chain out of his left hand.
Clang!
The chains surrounding Dario’s body gradually tightened.
“Eww!”
He tried to bite his tongue to death but Zeke found out as if he was a ghost and opened his mouth to block it then healed him and restored his body.
Zeke looked at him and smirked.
“Shall we start with something light?”
Phage crackle!
Dario’s scream echoed along with blue sparks.
* * *
“Stop please stop….”
Even if I wanted to die or faint none of that was allowed due to Zeke’s wide-area buff effect.
Ten hours into the interrogation Dario lost consciousness.
“Zeke said taking a leisurely bite of his sandwich.
“Do you feel like talking now?”
Dario said looking at Zeke.
“Why on earth… why on earth are you doing this to me?”
“I told you. I have something to ask you.”
“Then… ask. I will answer.”
“I still don’t see sincerity in your eyes.”
“Damn it! Why are you saying you’ll answer! Ask me something instead! I’ll answer!”
Zig who had finished eating his sandwich and even drank all the juice stood up from his seat.
Then Dario flinched and stepped back. Zeke brought a chair back and sat down in front of Dario.
“Tell me everything you heard about the Elder Dragon’s relics.”
Dario kept his mouth shut contrary to his promise to answer everything Zeke said.
But when Zeke took out the healing potion again he was startled and spoke.
“My Empire! The Empire told us first. They told us to report any ancient relics related to Elder Dragons or immortality as a top priority!”
Zeke asked pulling his chair closer to Dario.
“How did you find out about Dusk?”
Dario answered shivering.
“I hired a sorcerer to cast that curse. I need it for business reasons.”
“Did you curse Lady Angelina because you needed her for business? You perverted piece of trash.”
Zeke struck the chain again with lightning.
Phage phage phage!
“Krrrrrrr!”
Dario fell over again foaming at the mouth.
Zeke revived the fallen Dario.
He could barely breathe deeply.
Zeke asked him again.
“You know that’s not what I asked right? Ask again. Where did you meet Dusk?”
Then Dario hesitated and opened his mouth.
“I was introduced to a cow!”
Little by little the answers Zeke wanted began to come.
“Tell me clearly where who and how were you introduced to me?”
Dario barely opened his mouth trembling.
“I was first introduced to her through connections within the Empire.”
“Be more specific and detailed.”
Dario’s eyes darted around his breathing heavy.
He hesitated and barely opened his mouth.
“I was introduced to the knight of Scorpio one of the thirteen zodiac signs.”
Zeke was surprised by Dario’s words.
“A Knight of the Scorpio. An Imperial Legion Commander introducing a sorcerer to the Mafia?”
Then Dario continued trembling.
“The Knights of the Scorpio and our Nostra Family are blood allies.”
‘Hoo.’
I never would have guessed that one of the Empire’s thirteen legions would be linked to the mafia.
Zeke walked closer to Dario and asked.
“Dario. Surely you wouldn’t lie in this situation.”
“How the hell can you say something like that and call it a lie? It’s true.”
Zeke continued asking questions stroking his chin.
“Assuming that the Knights of the Scorpio Palace have a blood alliance with the Nostra Family how did they introduce Dusk to you?”
“I was introduced to a clan called ‘Narak’ not Dusk.”
Finally Zeke got the answer he wanted.
Zeke pretended not to know and pushed Dario away.
“The abyss. It’s the first time I’ve heard of it.”
“At first I had no idea that such people existed. In fact I still don’t know their true identity. The method of contacting them is also extremely complicated and I have never really communicated with them except when I was introduced to a sorcerer.”
“It was they who introduced me to Dusk.”
“okay.”
“Tell me more about how the Knights of the Scorpion introduced the place called Narak. Who came first and how did they contact you?”
Zeke organized the content by asking Dario similar questions several times and in different ways.
Because the security on the Abyss side was so tight it was difficult to find anything special in Dario’s answer.
‘I thought that if I defeated Dario I would be able to find out the true nature of the Abyss guys.’
The truth was more hidden than I thought.
While collecting his thoughts Zeke asked about something that had made him uncomfortable while listening to Dario’s answer.
“When we first met the Abyss guys earlier you said the meeting place was somewhere.”
Dario opened his mouth with difficulty as he was asked the same question over and over again.
“I went there blindfolded but I don’t know where… it was a place like a small church.”
“What does it mean to say that it is not a church but rather a place like a church?”
“It wasn’t really a church… I guess you could say it didn’t really feel like a church. But it felt like a church.”
Zeke felt that there might be a clue hidden in Dario’s ambiguous answer.
“Dario. Think about it carefully. Why did it feel like a church when it didn’t?”
Dario tried hard to recall his memories in response to Zeke’s question.
That was when.
Zeke placed his hand on Dario’s head and used his dragon sense.
Woohoo!
In an instant memories of Dario flooded into Zeke’s mind.
It felt like everything Dario had felt seen and heard was all kneaded together and seeping into his brain.
The most intense sensation Zeke felt was none other than his sense of smell.
‘What is that smell? I’ve smelled it somewhere.’
And then a sound was heard.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The sound of a bell coming from afar.
Finally Dario’s gaze passed by.
Long chairs were crowded together in a small worn space with whitewashed walls.
Zeke realized what Dario meant by church-like feeling.
The structure was like a chapel but there were no signs or statues of the sun god around it.
And again Zeke smelled the same scent he had smelled before.
It smells like something is burning.
Zeke tried to find the identity of the smell in his memories.
It was when I visited the Ishtar family that I smelled that scent.
It was similar to the smell I had smelled in the market street just before entering the main palace.
Zeke recalled the memory from that time.
The market scene at that time came to his mind as it was.
I could feel the smell rising among the numerous merchants and people.
There was a man where the smell came from.
A man was stirring something with a spatula inside a giant pot.
A strong scent rose from inside.
Zeke slowly opened his eyes.
He realized the identity of the smell he had been smelling in his memory.
“coffee.”
The strong smell that Dario felt in his memory was none other than the scent of coffee.
