    Episode 160

    Wooooow!

The portal opened and Zeke appeared somewhere in the ice mountain range not in the ruins.

Zeke stretched feeling the cold north wind brushing his cheek.

    “Whew. Portals are really good.”

It’s more of a hidden trick since it has many limitations but it’s definitely convenient and good if you can use it.

Now that he has the Elder Dragon’s relics all that remains for Zeke to do is return to Atlas.

As he was about to descend the ice mountain range with a light heart Zeke sensed a presence on the other side of the forest.

    ‘Are they hunting dogs?’

It would have been better to be an imperial hound.

If it was Draker’s Dark Stage I had to kill the sound and go far away.

Then beyond the forest a flag with a wolf on it was seen.

    It was the Himonas Knights.

‘It’s better than the black stage but those guys are crazy too. I guess I’ll just have to pass quietly.’

It was when Zeke focused his hearing and tried to sneak past them.

A loud voice came to his ear.

“Damn it! Sven! You little punk come to your senses!”

Zeke was startled by the voice that echoed through the snowy mountains.

    ‘That’s definitely Nikolai’s voice.’

    Nikolai and Sven.

They were all Himonas knights who had a connection with Zeke in their previous lives.

Zig who was just about to pass by stopped walking. After hesitating for a moment he took out a northern style outfit from his inventory and put it on.

Zig who had changed his clothes slowly approached the place where the Himonas knights were.

    * * *

“Damn it! Sven! You little shit! Open your eyes! Come to your senses!”

Nikolai a member of the Himonas Thistle Knights held his comrade Sven’s wound tightly trying to stop the bleeding and kept talking to him so he wouldn’t lose consciousness.

But the wound was so deep that the bleeding wouldn’t stop.

    Other colleagues nearby grabbed Nikolai.

“Nikolai stop it. It’s too late.”

Even though his colleagues held him back Nikolai did not stop killing him.

“Fuck is a baby like X!”

Nikolai continued to treat Sven’s wound but the bleeding did not stop.

The bleeding did not stop even in the cold weather so it seemed like he had been poisoned or hit by a magic weapon.

    That was when.

    “Are there any casualties there?”

The knights were startled by the sudden unfamiliar voice and drew their claymores.

Zeke disguised as a northern mercenary held out his hand to the knights as if to reassure them.

“I’m a mercenary who was climbing up the ice wall to provide support. I think there are some injured people so I came to help.”

Even though they were told they were there to help the knights did not let their guard down.

Zeke carefully took something out of his bosom.

“It’s a potion. Apply it to your wound and it will stop the bleeding.”

The North was poor and lacking in supplies compared to the Central Continent.

Because of this potions were luxury items that were difficult to obtain.

But when he suddenly appeared and handed over a high-quality item like a potion the knights looked at Zeke with even more suspicion.

‘Himonas pups. Anyway I have a lot of doubts.’

Zeke who knew the nature of the northerners well opened the potion lid took a sip and swallowed it.

Only then did the knights let their guard down a little.

Nikolai got up and approached Zeke.

Then he snatched the potion he was holding in his hand and poured it on Sven’s wound.

    Cheeeeeeek!

Although the bleeding had stopped the wound was bubbling and the flesh was turning black.

Seeing this Zeke opened his mouth.

“Judging by your reaction it looks like you’ve been poisoned. I have the antidote. You need to be treated quickly.”

The knights hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

Zeke approached the fallen Sven and took out the antidote he had prepared in advance from his backpack.

He took out his dagger and asked the knights.

    “Is there any Hwaryeongju left?”

Hwaryeongju was a strong drink that northerners drank to beat the cold.

The knights took out all the bottles of alcohol they were carrying in their pockets.

Zeke took the flask the knights gave him and disinfected his dagger with the spirit then sprinkled it on Sven’s wound.

Then he stabbed the area around the wound with his sword.

    Push!

Black blood gushed out from the place where the sword had cut him.

Zeke drained some of the black blood and poured the antidote over it.

    Cheeeeeeek!

It sounded like flesh was on fire.

Sven who had lost consciousness woke up as the pain was as intense as the loud noise.

    “Kkaaaak!”

It was impossible to even guess how severe the pain was as even the Himonas Knight who was known for enduring pain screamed.

Nikolai who was standing next to him put the dagger sheath in Sven’s mouth.

“Hey kid! Stop being a jerk and just bite this!”

Sven bit into Nikolai’s dagger sheath and endured terrible pain.

Zeke treated the most serious thigh wound first then treated the other wounds with antidotes and potions.

After treating all the wounds Zig cleaned the wounded areas with Hwaryeongju and wrapped them with bandages.

“First aid is complete. If you take him to the unit and get him treated by a therapist his life will not be in danger.”

At Zeke’s words Nikolai finally seemed relieved and fell backwards.

“Ha! F**k! Sven you little shit! You’re such a f**king lucky little shit! You little shit!”

Although his words were harsh Zeke knew that Nikolai was a fine knight and a man of deep camaraderie.

When the Himonas Knights were pushed back by the Imperial Army and were on the verge of annihilation he sacrificed his body for his comrades and stopped the enemies until the very end.

Nikolai and Sven who had just nearly died were the commander and vice-captain of the Thistle Knights when Zeke was a member of the Northern Alliance.

‘It’s been a while both of you. It’s been a while since I’ve seen people who died in my past life. I guess it’s a new feeling.’

Then Nikolai came over and put his hand on Zeke’s shoulder.

“Hey! Mercenary buddy. What’s your name? I really owe you a damn thing! Of course that fucking bastard Sven owes me a damn thing!”

Zeke replied to Nikolai’s words with a smirk.

    “My name is Zeke Murray.”

“Zeke Murray! What a great name. I heard you were applying for the Ice Wall. Did I hear that correctly?”

“Yes I would like to apply to be a Ranger.”

    “Northern Ranger. That’s manly stuff.”

Both the Knights of Himonas and the Northern Rangers were rough and tough but they respected each other.

Nikolai said putting his arm around Zeke’s shoulder.

“If you’re going to go to the Ice Wall anyway spend a night at our camp. I’ll ask the captain to write a letter of recommendation for you to take to the Rangers.”

Although he wanted to leave just like that he felt that if he refused here he would be suspected so he accepted Nikolai’s offer.

The Thistle Knights who decided to accompany Zeke skillfully made a stretcher and lifted Sven up the snowy mountain.

Zeke also followed the Knights to their camp.

Nikolai was surprised to see Zeke following them without any sign of fatigue.

“You’re good at climbing snowmobiles. Are you originally from the North?”

“Yes. I was born in the northern Gorkha region but I left my hometown to make a living by eating a knife and became a wandering mercenary. Then I heard that the Ice Wall was recruiting rangers so I was on my way up.”

Zeke was adept at spouting lies.

Nikolai nodded without a doubt as Zeke’s northern accent was so perfect.

“Where did you learn healing techniques? I saw earlier that you are no ordinary first aid expert.”

“I was a mercenary but I had a lot of opportunities to enter dungeons. I got used to it naturally because I fought so hard with adventurers.”

Nikolai nodded at that. As an adventurer it made sense that he would have potions and antidotes.

Among the monsters there were many that had such strange poisons that adventurers always carried potions and antidotes with them.

The Thistle Knights who had climbed the mountain while chatting about this and that took Sven to the nearest camp.

They called it a camp but in reality it was more like a fortress.

The Ice Mountains were so rugged in terrain that they were almost like natural fortresses everywhere. The Northern Rangers built sturdy fortresses using dirt and ice here and there to prepare for attacks from monsters and demons.

    Kiririririk!

The fortress gate opened and Zeke entered with the Thistle Knights.

    * * *

“Poo-ha-ha! Zeke Murray! Drink up! Drink up!”

Nikolai poured the Hwaryeongju into Zig’s glass. Zig did not refuse and drank the whole glass.

The knights and rangers who saw this sight whistled and clapped their hands.

As Zeke continued to drink the Hwaryeongju without changing his expression Nikolai shouted excitedly.

“Zeke Murray! The one who saved Sven! The one who will rule the world with alcohol!”

Because of his contribution to saving Sven Zeke was treated as a benefactor by them.

Although he was accustomed to northern culture it was a little difficult to accept the rough treatment he received after such a long time.

Still without showing any sign of it Zeke drank the spirit wine that the others were offering him and asked Nikolai.

“But how did you get so seriously injured? Did some terrible demon appear in the mountains?”

Nikolai drank his fill of the Hwaryeongju and gritted his teeth as he spoke at Zeke’s words.

“It would be better if it were a demon. Those damned rat bastards of the Empire have been polluting our territory for years.”

As expected it seemed to be the work of the Empire’s hunting dogs.

The poison had no effect on the invincible Zeke but it was different for ordinary people.

In fact on the battlefield poison took many more lives than the Aura Blade.

Zeke recalled the traces of poison that remained in Sven’s body.

‘If I hadn’t used the healing spell Sven would have died. It wasn’t ordinary poison.’

I wondered if it might be some type of synthetic poison that the Empire was secretly researching in its secret laboratories.

Nikolai put down his glass and gritted his teeth as he shouted.

“You damned imperial bastards and insolent Draker bastards! This red-haired Nikolai Eriksson will catch them all and hang them!”

Nikolai’s shouts made the others excited and they banged their glasses on the table.

Zig shook his head inwardly as he watched the chaos of the northerners for the first time in a long time.

Nikolai came back up next to Zik and sat down next to him his spirits rising.

“Let’s drink! Zeke Murray! The Himonas Knight never forgets a favor!”

Zeke slowly opened his mouth as if responding to Nikolai’s words while drinking Hwaryeongju.

“The Knights of Himonas. They are under the command of the Northern Duke.”

    Nikolai nodded.

“Yes. Northern Duke. It is indeed a difficult position. Even more so these days.”

    Zeke knew what Nikolai meant.

By this time the previous Northern Grand Duke would have died and the princess would have succeeded to the throne.

As is the case everywhere where there is power there are those who stink.

    The North was no exception.

Zeke thought of her as a grand duke among the savage lords of the North.

He slowly opened his mouth to Nikolai.

“How is Your Highness doing these days….”

    That was when.

    bang!

Someone opened the door roughly and came in.

In an instant all those who had been making a fuss and pouring alcohol picked up the weapons next to them and stood guard.

The one who burst in through the door shouted.

“I caught those suspicious Central Continent guys!”

Then all the Thistle Knights and Rangers including Nikolai rushed outside.

Zeke wondered what was going on so they went outside together.

They were herded to one side of the parade ground where a deep hole had been dug and sharp wooden beams were woven together to form the entrance to the prison.

Nikolai shouted towards the wooden entrance.

“You damn Central Continent bastards! What did you crawl all the way here to eat! Argh!”

    That was when.

    Kwakwakwang!

Suddenly a fireball flew in and burned down the wooden entrance.

    Nikolai stepped back in surprise.

Someone crawled out from under the pit.

He picked up the claymore that Nikolai had dropped and shouted something at them.

    “■■■■! ■■■!”

When he shouted in the Central Continent language the northerners including Nikolai could not understand what he was saying at all.

“What the fuck is that kid talking about?”

“I don’t know. Okay let’s just kill him.”

    That was when.

“Why did they suddenly attack us and demand to know our true identities?”

Zeke who was behind interpreted the Central Continent language and translated it into the Northern language.

Nikolai looked back at Zeke in surprise and said.

“Hey Zik Murray! What a wonderful friend! Do you speak Central Continent tongue?”

“That’s what happened to me as I was living the life of a mercenary and hanging out with adventurers.”

Then suddenly a man holding a sword shouted something urgently.

“Zeke Murray? Are you Zeke? I! I! Rick! It’s Rick! The adventurer Rick who helped you at Giant Mountain!”
