A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 157
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 157
As soon as Zeke saw the wolf flag he hid behind a rock.
These people wear armor made from thick monster hide and carry claymores on their backs.
At first glance he looked like a mercenary but he gave off a much more ferocious and sinister vibe.
‘Why are the knights of Himonas here?’
Normally the Ice Mountains were stationed by Northern Rangers so unless there were special circumstances the Knights of Himonas would not come here very often.
This is because Himonas itself is a place where monsters and demons frequently appear so there were not enough troops to be dispatched to the Ice Mountains.
The fact that the Knights the most important force in Himonas were in the Ice Mountains meant that something was happening there.
Zig hid himself in hiding and used all his might to summon the ‘will to listen’.
I heard the knights talking.
“I don’t know what the hell is going on because of those damn Central Continent guys.”
“Those knights are just hiding like rats. If I catch them I’ll split their skulls apart.”
Although most knights of the Northern Continent were rough and tough the elite knights of Himonas under the Northern Grand Duke were especially known for being rough and fierce.
The place that the imperial army which had engulfed the entire continent in a conflagration in the previous life was unable to conquer until the end was Himonas.
The knights of Himonas rather than surrender decided to take their own lives so they burned the castle poisoned the well and climbed deeper into the ice mountains to reach their fortress.
Even the most poisonous Draker would stick his tongue out and avoid being entangled in Himonas.
“Anyway you fucking Imperial rats and fucking Draker bats… if I catch you I’ll completely skin you.”
Zeke was surprised to hear the knight’s words.
This is because the ones who are referred to as bats in Himonas are none other than Draker Dark Stage.
‘The black stage is here too?’
Zeke recalled that his master Arthur Draker had mentioned years ago that there was an Elder Dragon relic hidden in the Ice Mountains.
It’s already been five years since Zeke entered the academy.
I thought they had stopped searching because quite a bit of time had passed and there seemed to be no significant results but it seemed they were still looking for the remains.
In principle the northern continent including the Ice Mountains is the territory of the Northern Grand Army so the Northern Rangers usually stay in the fortress and prevent monsters and demons from coming down from the mountains.
Veterans of mountain warfare the Northern Rangers were not knights but their long-honored unique techniques were often more effective than the Auror Blades in the mountains.
But now was an exceptional situation.

The problem arose when a unit of hounds and a draker black stage who were knights but did not act like knights invaded the territory of the Northern Rangers.
That’s why the Himonas Knights were dispatched.
‘I didn’t know I’d see those crazy guys here.’
Although his expression was rough Zeke’s heart was filled with longing and affection.
In his previous life Zeke had also been a member of the Northern Alliance so he had formed a relationship with them as comrades but now the situation was different.
Himonas not only had bad feelings toward the Central Continent people but also hated the Draker family extremely so it would be difficult for their relationship to be the same as before.
That was when.
“They are rats!”
At the same time the Himonas Knights drew their swords.
“Kids! Let’s go!”
The knights ran towards the signal spitting out harsh words as befitting northerners.
A battle broke out inside the forest.
Buck! Buck!
When Zeke looked into the situation with his eyes he saw that the Himonas Knights and the Imperial hunting dogs were fighting each other.
puck!
The Himonas Knights swinging their claymores wildly without shields looked like gray wolves running across the snowy field.
Like a wolf that never lets go of its prey once it has set its sights on it the Knights of Himonas fiercely pursued the Empire’s hunting dogs.
“You little rats of the empire! How dare you thrust your filthy bodies into this place!”
The claymore wielded by the Himonas Knight split the hunting dog’s head apart.
Although they were extremely persistent hunting dogs they were nothing more than prey to the Knights of Himonas.
Beep!
The hunting dogs blew their whistles and ran away in a hurry.
But the Himonas Knights had no intention of leaving it alone.
I chased the retreating hounds all the way and tried to stick a claymore in their backs.
The white snowfields were dyed red with the blood of the imperial hunting dogs.
The Himonas knights searched through the hounds’ bosoms for what they needed and they cut off the heads of the corpses one by one and collected them for their records.
The heads cut off in this way were counted and recorded and the skulls were processed to be used as cups or bowls while the hair was collected separately and used to make armor or clothing.
In addition they tied the headless bodies to ropes and hung them on nearby trees and set traps nearby.
It was a trap to catch monsters or wild beasts that rushed to eat the corpse.
In the resource-poor north not even a single enemy corpse was wasted.
‘I thought it was like that when we were together but I can’t seem to get used to it after seeing you for a long time.’
After setting all the traps the Himonas Knights cursed and grumbled again as they moved to another patrol area.
As the storm-like Himonas Knights disappeared Zeke finally revealed himself.
‘The dark stage of the Imperial Hound Draker in the Knights of Himonas.’
The three worst groups on the continent were gathered in the Ice Mountains.
Zig pulled up the map and carefully examined the surrounding terrain.
As he looked at the map he realized one thing.

‘It’s not far from the cave where we obtained the Elder Dragon’s relic.’
In my previous life I went to find that relic and was brutally killed by hunting dogs.
Zeke went through all kinds of hardships to obtain the relic but died before he could use it and experienced the absurd fate of being returned to the past.
‘You were able to regress thanks to that relic so did you try using it?’
Zeke smirked and thought for a moment before deciding to get the Elder Dragon’s relic first.
Since he had regressed and was different from his previous life there was no guarantee that the Black Stage or the hunting dogs would not accidentally discover the relic.
‘Now that I’ve gained that power there’s a high chance that the relic isn’t there right now… but I should at least check.’
Anything had to be done thoroughly to avoid any aftereffects.
Zeke traced his past memories and went to where the Elder Dragon’s relics were.
* * *
“Phew.”
Zig stood before a cliff with no end in sight.
“It’s still dizzying to see this place again.”
In his previous life Zeke discovered the location of the Elder Dragon’s relic through this cliff.
At that time it was truly a coincidence that I was able to enter the cave where the relics were.
After the Continental War Zeke who had no place to go happened to be assigned to work for the Syndicate and completed several missions.
During this time he met Kay who was an executive of the syndicate at the time.
Thanks to Zeke Kay was able to secure an important transport route and solidify his sphere of influence as a senior member of the syndicate.
Thanks to this Zeke was able to obtain a lot of information from Kay and among them he heard information about the ‘relic’ that the Emperor of the Empire was looking for.
Since the relic that the Emperor of the Empire had been searching for for over ten years must have tremendous value Zeke obtained information from Kay and headed to the Ice Mountains.
In fact at that time the Empire had found the entrance to the ruins. However even though they mobilized all of the Empire’s magicians they were unable to find a way to get inside and were thus unable to obtain the relic.
Eventually the empire mobilized hunting dogs to search the entire Ice Dragon Valley to find another entrance.
After obtaining this information Zeke trusted his instincts and began exploring the Ice Dragon Valley without the hunting dogs knowing.
And importantly in keeping with the Southern Continent’s adage to hide in places others don’t want to go I chose the most undesirable places to explore.
That was the ice cliff.
The Northern Rangers said that this place was created ten thousand years ago when the Ice Dragon and the Fire Dragon fought a fierce battle that lasted for a month.
It was not known whether it was real or not but the cliff with no end brought a primal fear to humans so even the rough northern rangers did not approach this place.
The Zig of his previous life was a madman that even the harsh northerners would call a monopoly. He hung on a cliff with no end in sight trying to find traces.
For over a month I hung on the edge of a cliff searching for traces and hiding in a hiding place to warm up my body.
Then one day while I was hanging on a cliff as usual an avalanche occurred and I almost died.
Zeke who barely survived the avalanche looked around and discovered that a crack had formed in one part of the cliff due to the impact of the avalanche.
Instinctively feeling that an opportunity had arrived Zeke pounded the cracked area with a chisel and hammer to create a small gap. Surprisingly the gap was connected to a cave where the Elder Dragon’s relic was hidden.
Originally it was supposed to be a more complicated process to get from the entrance of the ruins to the relics but the cliff collapsed creating a shortcut to the relics.
Zeke looked at the cliff and shook his head recalling the events of his past life.
“Hmm I can’t even tell where the crack was in the cliff.”
It was difficult to pinpoint the exact location because I found the place by accident due to an avalanche.
Even if I turn on the map the terrain doesn’t display in detail once it goes beyond a certain range so I can’t use the route finding function.
Zeke decided to change his plans.
“We have to go through the entrance that the Imperials discovered.”
At the time the imperial wizards had not found a way to enter the entrance but the situation was different for Zeke.
Since he had already found the relic in his previous life and received the title of Elder Dragon’s Blessing it was highly likely that the ruins would recognize Zigg as the administrator.
Zeke searched his memory and moved towards the entrance to the ruins that the Empire had discovered.
The moment he crossed the snowfield and reached the entrance Zig felt a presence.
‘Could it be that the Empire is already here?’
Zig hid his presence by hiding and looked around with his dragon’s eyes.
But surprisingly it wasn’t the Imperial Army there.
Those who wear two pairs of black wing marks.
None other than Draker Dark Stage was stationed near the entrance having set up a camp.
Zeke was surprised to see the black stage with the black wing insignia.
‘Why the Black Stage and not the Imperial Army…?’
In my previous life the Imperial Army had clearly set up a camp at the entrance and hundreds of hunting dogs were guarding the place.
‘Did I regress and change the past? Or… maybe it was Draker who first discovered the entrance.’
After Abel Draker became the head of the family everything Draker owned went over to the Empire.
In the process the entrance to the ruins may also have fallen into imperial hands.
Zig frowned as he looked at the black stage crew positioned on the snowy mountain where the entrance to the ruins was.
‘If they were hunting dogs I would have just swept them away and gone in.’
Draker’s Dark Stage had different attributes from other Draker Knights.
Although there was an intelligence unit most of them were made up of people who did not have or could not have connections or patronage within the Draker clan.
For that reason most of the members of the Black Stage receive separate resources or are drafted during the training period and receive separate training.
Only after completing a course much more rigorous than the training of a Drake Knight could one wear the Black Wing badge.
The Drakers’ Dark Side were those who were Drakers but could not use their names as Drakers and had to live in the shadows while maintaining a completely secret identity.
As a result the members of the Black Stage also had a special sense of belonging and pride in their unit.
If you touch it wrong you could end up with a huge lump that you can’t handle.
‘Rather than messing with those wasp nests I’d probably be better off knocking on the cliff and looking for the entrance.’
As Zeke was thinking a good idea suddenly occurred to him.
‘I’ll have to use those hunting dogs.’
I planned to use the hunting dogs to lure the black stage divert their attention and then quickly enter the ruins.
As he passed through the snowfield Zeke had already located the hunting dog unit’s camp.
He summoned his dragonflies and raided several camps on the hunting dog side simultaneously.
Suddenly the hunting dogs that had been attacked by the dragonfly began to appear like cockroaches blowing their whistles as expected.
Zeke used the dragon’s teeth to lure the hunting dog unit towards the snowfield.
Then he detonated the magic bomb he had installed in advance.
Kwakwakwakwakwang!
Along with the loud noise the people on the black stage also began to stand guard.
At the same time when news came from the agents on external alert that a large number of members of the hunting dog unit were moving the Black Stage agents also moved to assess the situation leaving only the minimum number of people behind.
Zig was hiding and observing all of this with his own eyes.
‘Okay I guess I can get inside without being caught.’
Zeke sneaked towards the camp on the black stage while using his stealth skill.
As befitting a wealthy Drake spy unit the entire camp was equipped with the latest security equipment.
Fortunately the dragon’s eyes were able to detect the boundary equipment so Zeke was able to avoid the magic detectors and alarm devices and get inside.
Checking the map I saw that there was an entrance to the ruins beneath the snow-covered mountain behind the camp building.
Zeke cautiously headed toward the entrance.
That was when.
Someone came out from inside the camp.
Zig hurriedly hid his body and used his stealth skill and the will of his hidden spirit to completely erase any traces.
‘That’s…!’
The person who came out of the camp was none other than Arthur Draker the head of the Draker family.
