A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 143
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 143
Doo doo doo doo!
Zeke and Boris headed to Death Valley escorted by the Salmak Salsoo assigned to the mission including Shadia.
After two days of riding across the sandy desert the literal Valley of Death appeared.
Shadia said to Zeke.
“Lord are you really going to go in there? It’s a forbidden place once you go in there you can’t get out.”
Zeke nodded at Shadia’s words.
“I know. But I can’t help it. The destination is over there.”
The place where the relic was hidden as told by the hermit in the story was right inside Death Valley.
Zeke said to Shadia.
“Only Boris and I can go in there.”
Then Shadia said to Zeke.
“There are enemies around here targeting the road. If you give me the order I will also carry out a protection mission inside Death Valley.”
Zeke shook his head.
“I’ll take care of the Scorpion guys and the Holy Kingdom guys. Shadia you remember the points I gave you yesterday. Wait there. We’ll meet up there once we’re done with what’s going on inside.”
Shadia nodded at Zeke’s words.
She said turning her head.
“Scorpions are tenacious and extremely poisonous. It would be dangerous if you let your guard down.”
“Thanks for the advice.”
Shadia led the other assassins and disappeared back into the sandy desert.
As the swarm of assassins disappeared Zeke spoke to Boris.
“Boris do you know why even the Salmak killers are afraid of that place?”
“I don’t know the details.”
“Not a single blade of grass grows inside. Not even a single insect let alone an animal. Of course there is no water. The moment you enter you lose your bearings and find yourself wandering endlessly through the winding maze-like valley.”
“Can that be possible?”
Zeke recalled the Valley of Death he had experienced in his past life.

When I was a Southern hitman I fought against the assassins of the Salmak and ended up in Death Valley.
Even the killers of the Salmak did not enter this place so Zeke was barely able to avoid pursuit.
But then Zeke realized why this place was called the Valley of Death.
There was absolutely nothing to eat or drink and the temperature difference between day and night was beyond imagination.
During the day you might feel like you’re going to die from heatstroke from the scorching sunlight but at night the temperature would drop so rapidly that you could freeze to death.
At that time Zeke had not awakened to the healer class but his survival instinct activated his healing so he survived in the valley without dying.
After wandering around the valley for over two weeks he barely managed to survive by relying on his senses to get to the other side of the valley.
Zeke looked down at Death Valley recalling the memories of that time.
And then he smiled faintly.
“Let’s get ready to welcome our guest Boris.”
* * *
“The big boss those bastards are just going to leave?”
One of Scorpion’s warlocks reported back from his magical scorpion vision of the situation outside the desert.
The escort of the Salmak was seen leaving kicking up clouds of sand.
The captain of the 7th division of the Scorpion Clan Trackers who was eating a lizard in a sand burrow spat out the lizard he was eating in surprise.
“Is it true?”
“Yes. All the escorts have returned. I think they left behind only the young Draker and the squire.”
“Didn’t those two kids just get away with it?”
“I don’t think so. There’s no sign of a fight.”
The captain smiled bitterly.
“That’s right. Hey where are the guys from number 8 and number 9?”
Another warlock crouching behind said.
“It won’t be far. Should I call you?”
The captain threw a pile of dirt at the wizard who answered.
“You idiot. Why are you letting those guys do the good work? We should go first and get the treasure.”
Another wizard who was looking outside through the scorpion said.
“It’s not a treasure it’s a holy relic. A holy relic.”
“Nimi’s relics or treasures. Hey that’s enough. Quickly take out the Desert Worm. Let’s go catch those bastards torture them and find out where the treasure is.”
“Captain but isn’t that a bit strange over there towards Death Valley?”
“Hey kid. Do you want to die? Do you want to die in Death Valley? Do you want to die by me right now?”
The other wizards fell silent at the captain’s words.
It was because it was obvious that if I provoked his dirty temper for no reason I would be the only one to get hurt.
Eventually the wizard who dealt with the monsters of the desert immediately recited the spell.
Then the sand pit they were in began to shake.
Saaaaak!
At the same time a desert worm appeared next to where the wizards were.
It was a long giant caterpillar-like monster that dug holes underground in the desert and preyed on travelers and animals in the desert.

The wizard gave the order as the Scorpion 7th Division grabbed the handle attached to the Desert Worm’s back.
The Desert Worm dug a burrow and quickly advanced towards Death Valley where Zeke and his party were.
The Scorpion Clan primarily used Desert Worms as a means of transportation when moving through the desert as they were much faster than horses or camels.
The warlocks who had dug a tunnel in such an instant and arrived at Death Valley quietly stuck their heads out and looked around.
“…There’s no sign of life at all?”
The captain shouted in an irritated voice.
“Fly the damn crow!”
The wizard took out a crow and flew it into the sky.
Then sharing the view with the crow he surveyed the entire Death Valley.
‘Where have you gone Drake’s little calf?’
While surveying the entire Death Valley with the eyes of a crow the wizard discovered something.
‘What is that?’
At the entrance to Death Valley items that appeared to be Zeke’s group’s luggage were scattered here and there.
The inside was obscured by a valley making it difficult to see through the crow’s eyes.
When I relayed the situation the 7th Division commander was troubled.
“Inside Death Valley.”
Although he had been bragging earlier he was also a warlock who had lived in the desert for a long time and was well aware of the ominous rumors of the area.
It was not easy to make up my mind to go in there because of the rumor that if I went in I would never come back alive.
‘Damn aren’t the 8th and 9th divisions already in there looking for treasure?’
The stakes for this treasure were so high that the captain overcame his fear with greed.
He came out of the pit and spoke to his men.
“Entering Death Valley.”
At those words the magicians in the unit looked embarrassed but they followed without question because if they disobeyed their leader they could immediately become food for monsters.
So the 7th Division members slowly headed towards the entrance of Death Valley.
And I found the belongings of Zig’s group strewn around the entrance.
One of the wizards held the item up to his nose and sniffed it.
“I smell blood.”
It was highly likely that they had hastily abandoned their supplies and gone inside during the battle.
The 7th Division commander became anxious at the thought that another unit was clearly pursuing the target.
“Track them quickly! Quickly!”
The wizards took out scorpions and other poisonous substances from their pockets and released them on the floor.
The poisonous creatures scattered in all directions in search of Zeke and his party.
The 7th Division slowly advanced into Death Valley hoping they would ask for information.
After some time one of the wizards raised his hand.
“I found the captain.”
The wizard who controls the scorpions found Zeke and his party treating their wounds inside the valley.
“What is the situation?”
“The knight who was following me seems to be dead and the young Draker seems to have been fatally wounded.”
The captain chuckled.
“Good. I have to find out where the treasure is before he dies. Show me the way.”
The 7th Division advanced deeper into the valley toward where Zeke and his men were hiding.
It was eerie and cold for a valley in the middle of the desert.
As I went further inside surprisingly I could see white breath.
Even for the Scorpion Clan which operates in desert areas this was their first time in a place like this.
“Over there Captain.”
The wizard who had been scouting with the scorpion pointed to a cave inside the canyon.
The captain gave instructions to his men by signal.
The agents accustomed to raids immediately prepared their black magic.
When the leader confirmed that they were ready and gave the signal the men went into the cave first.
At the same time a loud noise was heard from inside.
Kwakwakwang!
Pusheeeek!
The captain was certain that the raid was a success when he heard the smoke and explosions rising from the cave.
He slowly entered the cave.
“Take it easy you guys. If you mess up and that kid dies you won’t be able to find the treasure…”
But what the captain saw when he entered was the sight of his men sprawled out on the floor of the cave.
He instinctively turned around and tried to run away.
Then Boris who had been hiding appeared and struck the wizard’s neck with his sword.
“Cough!”
Boris stepped on the wizard’s neck with his foot and then drew his sword cutting the tendons in both his arms.
Because if you can’t make a spell or seal you can’t perform magic.
The 7th Division commander was effectively subdued.
Zig slowly walked out from inside the cave.
Zeke who had been bleeding fake blood to pretend to be sick smirked at the captured Scorpion unit leader.
“Let go Boris.”
The captain coughed and pulled himself together as Boris removed his foot from his neck.
Zeke approached him and spoke quietly.
“The more greedy a person is the more easily he falls into traps.”
As Zeke approached he removed the captain’s hood revealing a face with tattoos all over his bald head.
“Why is the Scorpion Clan here?”
The captain said nothing.
He attempted to commit suicide by biting the poison in his mouth.
Then Zeke grabbed the captain’s mouth.
Zeke had already poured an antidote into the captain’s mouth.
“Cough!”
While Zeke revived the 7th Division Captain with an antidote Boris subdued all the fallen wizards and propped them up against one wall.
Then following Zeke’s instructions he brought the captain in and had him sit on a stone chair carved inside.
Zeke took out his dagger and stabbed the captain in the back of his hand securing it to the armrest of the stone chair.
“Eww!”
Zeke said after fixing both of the wizard’s hands with his dagger.
“The guy here is from the Imperial Intelligence Service.”
The captain’s face turned pale at those words.
Because he also knew very well how cruel the Imperial Intelligence Service’s torture techniques were.
Zeke smirked at the sight then created an aura from his fingers and dug a deep hole into the stone chair next to the captain’s face.
The torture of knights who can handle auras is on a different level from general torture.
Only then did the captain open his mouth to swear.
“Ah we don’t know anything! We just followed orders from above!”
Zeke nodded.
“Well they were all like that at first. The captain of the 8th division that we caught earlier right? He was like that at first too. Right Boris?”
“That’s right. But when I touched it a little it started to swell up.”
The 7th Division commander was shocked to hear that the 8th Division commander had already been captured and was leaking information.
“That can’t be…”
Zeke twirled his wrist then concentrated mana into his fingers before digging into the captain’s side.
“Ugh!”
The fingers dug into his side and broke all his ribs as they went down.
“Eeeeeeeeeee!”
The captain was breathless from the unimaginable pain.
That was when.
Zeke took the potion out of his bosom and sprinkled it on his broken ribs.
Cheeeeek!
The wound healed quickly as bubbles rose.
“Ugh ugh.”
After the potion healed his wounds the captain was finally able to breathe again.
“Zeke said tapping the captain on the cheek.
“Now this guy a real pro is going to play with you. Take a deep breath and look back on your life.”
Zeke placed five vials of potion on the floor.
The captain’s eyes shook strongly at the sight.
“Hey wait a minute…!”
Before the captain could speak Boris covered his mouth with a wad of cloth.
“Eeeeeeeeeee!”
Boris began the torture by whistling.
Zeke looked satisfied as he saw the effects of the potion that had restored the Scorpion Clan’s wizard.
‘Potions made with the item crafting function are also quite useful.’
The item crafting feature was an additional feature of the mid-level manager that was previously obtained after clearing the Light Magic Book mission.
As long as you have the materials needed to create the item you want you can create a variety of potions as well as weapons and armor.
Among them recovery potions could be made by combining ingredients that were easily available on the market.
Still the effect was far superior to that of a normal potion made from purified troll blood.
‘It’s nice that I don’t have to spend karma points on potions anymore.’
And an hour later Zeke was able to hear the answer he wanted from the 7th Division commander.
“Seo Seong-relics… I came to find the Seong-relics.”
