    Episode 139

    ‘Siegfried?’

It was similar to Zeke’s name.

    The hermit continued his explanation.

“After being banished from his family Terracan wandered the continent as a free knight where he met Claudia Luverne who turned him into an ‘immortal knight’ through the power of the Holy Grail.”

    “Immortal Knight…”

Zeke thought of his own class the Immortal.

‘Could it be that Terracan Draker was also an immortal class?’

I had a feeling it might be the case but I had no way of confirming it.

The hermit continued the story while turning the pages of the book.

“The Draker family has been famous for producing excellent swordsmen for generations. However during the War of Liberation they were in a hurry to hide in order to protect their family.”

“Then instead of inheriting the dragon slayer’s blood Draker ran away like a coward.”

“I guess that’s what legends are all about. After all it’s thanks to that that the family has survived to this day.”

I thought I knew why the Draker family so thoroughly censored the legend of the Dragon Slayer and hid its previous history.

Siegfried Drake the hero of the war of liberation was rather a heretic of the family and the family did not actually participate in the war.

Even for a descendant of the Black Swordsman this was an irreversible dishonor.

In the end they would have had to hide their shameful past and accept Terracan Draker back into their family.

The bloodline of the Dragon Slayer the knight of knights had a great influence in establishing the legitimacy of the Draker family.

If that legitimacy were shaken it was clear that the Draker family’s position would be very different from what it is now.

‘It’s surprising that the true dragon slayer’s bloodline actually led to the healer class.’

Ironically Zeke who was actually a healer class was unable to awaken his Auror and was kicked out of Draker as a stray.

Thinking back on all the humiliation I suffered in my previous life because I couldn’t awaken I felt incredibly bitter.

Zeke understood why Arthur Draker had neglected him a healer class.

I wondered if even though he had kept it so secret he was worried that if he were accepted the secret hidden in the family would leak out.

I thought that maybe that was why Zeke was abandoned by the family without knowing anything because that could have shaken the entire Draker position.

Before he knew it Zeke had clenched his molars.

‘In the end he abandoned me for the sake of Draker’s safety and vested interests.’

    Zeke clenched his fist hard.

I was appalled by Drake’s hypocrisy and cowardice.

He vowed once again that he would become the strongest on the continent bring Drake under his heels and strip away his mask of hypocrisy.

The hermit of the story said as he watched the troubled Zig.

“Are you okay? Your face doesn’t look so good.”

“It’s okay. More importantly… where is the Holy Grail now?”

The hermit folded his fan and waved it in the air.

The storybooks disappeared and a scroll appeared in the air then opened up.

A continental eruption rose into the air.

The missionary work gradually expanded and marked a certain area in the desert.

“The Holy Grail is here. After Claudia died Terracan Draker returned the Grail to its original location to prevent it from being misused.”

Zig marked the location the hermit had indicated on the map.

“It’s a desert area. It’s not an easy place to access.”

“The Fairy King initially created it with the intention of helping humans but it is too dangerous to use. Terracan Draker must have thought it would be best to keep it out of human hands as much as possible.”

“If it falls into the hands of the devil something more dangerous will happen.”

The hermit nodded in agreement with Zig’s words.

    Zig said to the hermit.

“I will bring the relic. In the meantime Hermit please find the other two locations.”

“Okay. I’ll tell you as soon as I find out. Oh just wait a minute.”

The hermit went into the house and took something out.

“Phew I calculated what I heard from you today and I have some karma left so I’ll give you a gift.”

He handed Zeke an old box.

    “What is this?”

“I took what I thought was probably better equipment than what I could give you. Get out there and look.”

    “All right.”

The moment he was about to greet the hermit he flicked his fan. Zeke’s eyes flashed again.

I blinked and found myself back in the forest from before.

What had just happened felt like a dream.

‘The story is a hermit. It feels different from Master Nigel.’

Zeke shook his head to collect himself then looked at the hermit’s gift in his hand.

I slowly opened the box and inside was a gold ring with a jewel set into it.

    “ring?”

Zeke looked at the information on the golden ring with his eyes wide open.

    -Ring Information-

Special: Brings good luck to the owner of the ring.

“A ring that brings good luck?”

Zeke looked at the ring curiously.

I’ve seen many different items but this is the first one with the ability to bring good luck.

After much thought Zeke decided to binge on his lucky ring. He thought it was a gift so it didn’t matter how he disposed of it.

‘I never really wished for luck.’

A message appeared before Zeke’s eyes as he swallowed the ring with his gluttony skill.

[I ate a golden ring imbued with the power of good luck.]

[Absorbed some of the power of the ancient dragon embedded in the ring.]

[You have acquired the power of luck.]

[The skill proficiency of the Dragon Tribe skill ‘Dragon’s Sense’ increases due to the effect of the absorbed ability.]

    “Oh? Gaining power?”

It was Zeke who unexpectedly gained power.

It seemed like the person who made the ring that the hermit gave was a dragon.

I gained a lot from the power that came from the simple luck ring and the level of my Dragon’s Sense skill also increased.

“Is this also a lucky effect?”

Zeke descended Mount Ouroboros pleased with his unexpected good fortune.

    * * *

    “Abel.”

William Siemens entered the cabin where Abel was.

Abel had his eyes closed holding a strangely shaped black dagger in his hand.

    He slowly opened his eyes.

He put the dagger he was holding back into its sheath and looked at William.

    “what’s the matter.”

    “The mouse sent a signal.”

Abel’s eyes sharpened at William’s words.

    “What did you say?”

“It is said that after Zeke Draker descended Mount Ouroboros he set a new destination.”

“A new destination? Where is it?”

    “Desert area.”

    “Hmm.”

Abel slowly got up from his seat.

He looked at the continental map stuck on the cabin wall and smiled pulling at the corners of his mouth.

“It’s a desert. Things will probably go well.”

    “Should I contact Narak?”

    Abel nodded and said.

“Yes and contact the Scorpion Clan and Salmak as well.”

“Both together? Scorpion and Salmak wouldn’t want to do a joint operation.”

“Tell each of them their respective areas. So that they don’t lose track of where Zeke is going. Maybe… the relic will be where he’s headed.”

William gulped at the word relic.

    He opened his mouth slowly.

“What should we do about the Empire and the Holy Kingdom?”

“If that guy Zeke knows the location of the Holy Relic there’s no need to chase after the Successor. All that’s left to do is open the door to the Rubern clan.”

“The Luverne clan has a monopoly on the Holy Kingdom.”

“If you only reveal the information to the Holy Kingdom the Emperor will be in an uproar. Just tell both places.”

“The Holy Kingdom and the Empire? Isn’t that too much? What if the other side takes the Holy Relic first?”

“If it’s that guy Zeke I don’t think this is too much. Since I can’t go myself I think it’s better to do something like that to protect myself.”

Madness was visible in Abel’s eyes.

William knew from experience that Abel was at his most dangerous at times like this.

If it weren’t for the important business that was about to happen Abel would have headed out into the desert himself.

Just then someone knocked on the cabin door.

    “Come in.”

A member of the Red Lion Corps opened the door and came in prostrating himself before the two men and speaking to them.

“Chief I heard that the path to the island will open soon.”

“I see. Those guys are very cautious.”

“You can’t let your guard down against those who have suddenly become powerful among the rough pirates of the South Seas.”

Abel patted William on the shoulder.

“William that’s why I like you. Let’s go first.”

Abel and William came out of their cabin and climbed onto the deck of the warship.

There was an island in front of dozens of warships flying the Red Lion’s flag.

It was a crescent-shaped island with only one entrance.

But there was a huge whirlpool in that passage.

    Kwakwakwakwakwakwa!

Abel and William looked at the swirling whirlpool.

Then little by little the whirlpool began to die down.

Soon the sea became calm as if nothing had happened.

Abel opened his mouth looking at the still water.

    “That’s amazing.”

“The ancient fishmen were said to deal with mysteries beyond the magical knowledge we know. There is a rumor among pirates that Peter Pan is the successor to those ancient mysteries.”

At that moment a small boat from within the island approached the warship.

On the boat sat several young fishermen dressed as pirates.

It had claws on its hands and feet and gills on the trapezius muscle connected to its neck.

One of the fishermen who approached the warship shouted at Abel.

“Only two people are allowed entry.”

Abel jumped into the boat with the fishermen without hesitation.

Seeing this William as if he had no choice jumped lightly and landed on the boat.

The boat carrying Abel and William entered Crescent Island.

As the boat entered the island the sea surface became rough again creating a huge whirlpool.

Crescent Island was the headquarters of the Peter Pan Pirates’ fish-man pirates.

The pirate guided Abel towards the headquarters building.

The structure of the building was quite unusual.

The building was built on the sea so that its floor was connected to the sea.

Abel and William walked through the plank hallway to where Captain Peter Pan was.

The door to the captain’s cabin made of rough planks opened.

    Abel and William went inside.

But there was no one inside.

William asked the man who opened the door.

    “Where is the captain?”

    That was when.

“What business did Draker have with me?”

The voice came as a vibration from the floor of the captain’s cabin.

Abel looked at the sea water under the floor as if he found it amusing.

“Nice to meet you Peter Pan. My name is Abel Draker. On the Continent I am known as the Lion Sword.”

Then as expected the seawater vibrated and spoke.

    『The Knight of Madness.』

William’s expression hardened at those words.

But Abel said as if he didn’t care.

“Call me whatever you want. So you’re not going to come out? I want to talk to you face to face.”

    Peter Pan was speechless.

Abel chuckled and sat down on the chair.

『I ask again. Why did the Drakers come to the sacred sea? If they were to invade our territory….』

“Peter Pan we came to propose a deal.”

“Trading with the Drakers? How ridiculous.”

It was Kali Draker who wiped out all the pirates in the South Seas.

It was absurd that a direct descendant of such a draker would want to trade with pirates.

Abel said looking at the passage in the floor leading to the sea.

“If you agree to the deal I’ll tell you where Captain Kidd’s Treasure Island is. What do you think?”

Peter Pan was silent for a moment at those words.

Abel who had given Peter Pan time to think soon opened his mouth again.

“Peter Pan if you join hands with me you can become the new Pirate King. Doesn’t that sound appealing?”

    Woohoo!

For a moment the sea surface moved violently.

    Abel chuckled.

    * * *

    “Phew. Phew.”

The scorching hot sunlight poured down on Zeke and Boris’ heads.

Azaleas rose from the sand heated by the sun.

    Boris said looking at Zeke.

“Boss how about you think about it again?”

“If I say it one more time it will be exactly a hundred times Boris.”

“Even if I have to tell him a thousand times I will try to change his mind.”

“Why are you so scared after going to Ishtar’s main palace?”

Then Boris cried out in anger.

“Have you forgotten that I almost died there? Oh but I went there as a guest! Oh my god Salmak! If the boss is the designated assassin of Salmak why did he go there on his own?”

Then Zeke put his finger to his lips as if telling Boris to be quiet.

    Then he slowly pointed forward.

Two turbaned men with swords drawn stood on a sand dune where clearly no one had been present.

    Zeke said to Boris.

“It looks like I’ve come to the right place.”

At those words Boris’ face broke into tears.
