    Episode 129

Zeke took Felix with him and headed to his hometown.

As Felix said it was not far from Zeke’s territory so we were able to get there in half a day.

“Hwiu Village has changed a lot too.”

Felix also left his hometown after his grandfather died and returned after ten years.

When a knight leading a cavalry entered the village the village chief was surprised and ran out.

“Why are you guys in such a shabby place…”

Then Felix recognized the village chief and shouted.

    “Oh! Uncle Thomas!”

The village chief Thomas was surprised to see Felix.

“Huh? Are you Felix from Fab’s house?”

Felix jumped down from his horse and stood before the village chief.

“Yes Felix. How have you been? I didn’t know that Uncle Thomas had become the village chief.”

Thomas was surprised to see his mischievous Felix return as a proud knight.

“Oh my when you ran away to the city to become a knight the town was in chaos. But did you really become a knight?”

Chief Thomas looked at Zig who slowly got off his horse and asked in a slightly lowered voice.

Felix shook his head at that question.

“No he’s still a trainee knight. He’s the one I’m serving Sir Zeke Draker.”

    Zeke greeted Thomas.

“Nice to meet you. My name is Zeke Draker.”

It was only then that Thomas noticed the gloves Zeke was wearing.

“Drake of the Pureblood! I apologize. I don’t know you!”

Zeke spoke to the frightened village chief calming him down.

“Don’t be nervous. Felix’s hometown is nearby so I just came to take a quick look around.”

The village chief couldn’t believe that a pureblooded Draker had visited his rural village.

Felix approached the village chief and spoke secretly.

“Sir your lord wants to stay quietly and leave so don’t tell anyone else.”

    The village chief nodded vigorously.

Zeke followed Felix to the house where he used to live.

    “Whew!”

Felix’s old house which he visited after ten years was covered in dust.

Felix looked at the house and for a moment he was lost in old memories of his grandfather.

Then he opened the door and went into the house.

    “oh my.”

As soon as I opened the door dust started blowing around making it difficult to breathe properly.

    Felix said looking at Zeke.

“My lord it is here but I don’t think there would be anything here.”

Zig activated his dragon’s eyes and looked around the house.

There was nothing suspicious to be found only ordinary household items were rolling around.

    ‘Is there really nothing left?’

Zig carefully examined not only the first floor but also the second floor and even knocked on the floor to try to find traces.

But I couldn’t find any special clues anywhere in the house.

    “It must be Felix’s grandfather…”

Zeke sat up muttering to himself and looked around but Felix was nowhere to be seen. When there was no response when he called out to him Zeke went outside.

When he went outside and into the backyard Felix was standing in front of three tombstones lined up in a row.

    “Felix.”

Felix remained silent as he looked at the tombstone.

The tombstone bore the names of his grandfather Fab Valencia and two people believed to be Felix’s parents.

    Felix opened his mouth slowly.

“My grandfather said it was a carriage accident.”

Zeke had never heard a story about his parents from Felix.

I heard that he was raised by his grandfather since he was young so I could only guess that there was something going on.

    Felix stroked his parents’ gravestones.

“I think I was about three years old. The carriage overturned and I was the only one who survived. I lived with my grandfather ever since.”

    Zeke asked Felix.

“Do you remember your parents’ faces?”

    Then Felix shook his head.

“No. I vaguely remember it but I can’t quite remember.”

Zeke also understood Felix’s feelings because he didn’t even know his mother’s face or name.

He patted Felix on the shoulder without saying anything.

I felt like I needed to give him some time.

    That was when.

Felix who seemed to be immersed in sorrow let out a curious voice. He had found something strange around the tombstone.

“My lord please look here for a moment.”

Zeke looked where Felix was pointing.

    “What are you talking about?”

“Around the tombstone. Isn’t it too clean?”

Zeke listened to Felix and looked around the tombstone.

The house and the front were covered in grass and dust but only the tombstone area was clean.

    ‘no way?’

Zeke activated his dragon’s eyes and looked around the tombstone.

And then I discovered a cleverly hidden entrance behind the tombstone.

    Zeke said to Felix.

    “Stand back.”

He expanded his golden power field to strengthen his muscles then dug his fingers into the dirt behind the tombstone.

Then he lifted the heavy stone slab.

    Kookookookookook!

A secret space hidden for decades has been revealed.

Felix was surprised to see an entrance leading to the basement.

“Oh my goodness there was something like this in my backyard…”

    Kookung!

Zeke opened the entrance completely and asked Felix.

“Didn’t your grandfather ever mention this place?”

    Felix nodded.

Zeke went down the stairs to the basement with Felix.

The stairs led deeper into the basement than I thought.

Zig was amazed at the underground structure built by piling up stones one by one.

‘It wasn’t built overnight but was completed over several decades.’

It looked exactly like a catacombs I had seen in my past life.

I have seen catacombs built like this to bury the dead beneath a temple.

Zeke couldn’t believe that Felix’s grandfather had built this massive catacombs all by himself.

As I walked into the underground catacombs in surprise a huge hall appeared inside.

Zeke noticed a sign hanging at the front of the hall.

    ‘That’s…?’

It was none other than the sign of the sun.

It was similar to the sun emblem that symbolized the Paladins but had a more complex pattern.

    Zeke remembered seeing that sign.

    ‘The Mask of Agamemnon’

I immediately took out Agamemnon’s mask from my inventory.

As he remembered it matched the drapery and form attached to Agamemnon’s mask.

At first I thought this pattern was similar to the symbol of the Holy Kingdom but upon closer inspection I noticed some subtle differences.

However the patterns on the catacombs made by Felix’s grandfather matched perfectly with those on Agamemnon’s mask.

‘Is there some connection between the mask of Agamemnon and this place?’

Zeke put the mask in his pocket activated his dragon’s gaze and looked around.

Then Zeke was able to realize something he had never known before.

    ‘It really was a grave.’

There were dozens of tombs hidden by stone walls inside.

As Zeke examined the tombs on the wall he was surprised to find names written in small letters.

    “Luvern?”

    An unexpected name popped up.

Zeke checked each and every tomb.

Most of the tombs had the name of Luverne although there were some that were not.

Zeke realized the true nature of this catacombs.

‘The bloodline of the Luverne Dynasty that was cut off from the Holy Empire. Fab Valencia stole them away.’

The Arch Paladin is the main force of the Holy Kingdom.

It was absurd that the only force capable of fighting the Black Knight had been destroyed so I had always wondered about it. But now I think I have some idea of what happened.

For the Holy Kingdom which was made up of the Papal faction the bloodline of the House of Luverne was a weak link that could shake the power of the Pope.

It was clear that Felix’s grandfather Fab despite being an Arch Paladin had disobeyed the orders of the Holy Kingdom and had smuggled the bloodline of the Luverne Dynasty to the Duchy of Troy.

‘It was something more serious than political infighting.’

If the Arch Paladin Fab Valencia had joined the forces that were trying to drive out the corrupt Papal faction and establish a new Holy Kingdom centered around the Luverne Dynasty it would have been a huge problem that would have brought down the entire religious order.

Zeke felt a sense of emptiness as he looked at the tombs of the Luverne Dynasty’s blood relatives that he had been trying to find for the quest.

‘Shouldn’t we consider that there are no more blood relatives of Luverne?’

    That was when.

There was something new captured in Zeke’s eyes.

There was an empty space behind the sun curtain hanging at the front of the hall.

Zig leapt up stepping on the wall.

Then he tore the sun’s curtain apart with his hand.

    Thud!

As the curtain fell to the floor a hidden space was revealed.

Zig put his hand in took out what was in the space and settled it on the floor.

What Zeke took out was a long box wrapped in a cloth.

    “What is this my lord?”

“You’ll know when you open it.”

As Zeke unwrapped the bundle an old box appeared.

I opened the box after removing the locked padlock and found a sword in an old scabbard a book and a letter.

Felix was surprised to see the handwriting in the letter.

“Huh? This is my grandfather’s handwriting.”

Zeke opened the letter left by Fab Valencia.

Then I quickly skimmed through the contents.

‘My guess was right. Fab Valencia was trying to save Luverne’s bloodline.’

He had rescued the Luverne clan from the deepest parts of the Holy Kingdom’s cult and fled to the Duchy of Troy.

Even after going into hiding he traveled the entire continent in search of Luverne’s blood relatives who had been scattered since the Holy Empire.

Then by chance he met a child and adopted him as his own and that child married a village girl and had a child with her.

    That child was Felix.

Unfortunately Felix’s parents did not die in the carriage accident.

It was the secret organization of the Holy Kingdom that tracked down Fab that killed Felix’s parents as an example.

It was a warning that if you return to the Holy Kingdom now your sins will be forgiven as you cannot kill Fab who is an Arch Paladin.

However Fab Valencia stubbornly sought out his relatives in Luverne and raised young Felix as if he were his own grandson.

And then before he died of illness he passed on his Aura to the Aura tribe.

However he did not want to relay his mission to Felix so he kept this fact hidden and buried quietly.

Zeke read the words written at the end of the letter.

<The sect was afraid of the Luverne clan going out into the world but they were also afraid of their lineage being cut off. Perhaps it was because of the bloodline power that the Luverne clan possessed. The Luverne clan had the ability to create ‘miracles’.

I believed that it was my mission from God to save those who were imprisoned by the religious order and had their abilities exploited for the sole benefit of the religious order.

    The letter ended there.

After thinking about it Zeke handed the letter over to Felix.

Because it was up to Felix not him to decide how to judge the secret his grandfather had kept.

While Felix read the letter Zeke examined the sword and book that Fab had left behind.

He pulled out the sword from its scabbard and realized its identity.

    “Orichalcum Sword…..”

It seemed to be the Orichalcum hammer that Golin had forged with his sword.

Zeke felt a sense of familiarity as he watched the glow rising softly from the Orichalcum sword.

It felt similar to the crown of Luverne that Richmond had presented to Zeke as a treasure.

“That crown wasn’t Orichalcum. How strange.”

It wasn’t the material that was the problem but the feeling of power contained within it seemed similar.

Zeke checked the sword’s information with his eyes.

    -Sword Information-

Description: An orichalcum sword made with great care by a master craftsman.

Unique Abilities: Punishment of Light (Effect only applies when hitting) Curtain of Light Arrow of Light

Special: Deals 3x damage when used on undead and demons.

Light skills were engraved on the unique abilities like a crown.

It seemed like it was an ability he had since he was a hammer before becoming a sword.

‘It’s a different ability from the Light’s Hammer and Light’s Shield. Let’s try it out.’

    Zeke shouted holding his sword.

    “Curtain of light.”

In an instant a huge halo of light appeared around Zig’s body.
