A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 127
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 127
“Whew it took quite a while to get here.”
It took longer than expected to reach Atlas as we had to leave Argos without leaving a trace after destroying the hounds’ camp.
After entering the Four Seasons Zeke headed to Summer Rock where the administrative department was located.
As the shabby-looking Zig entered the other knights looked at him and whispered to each other.
‘Are you Zeke Draker?’
‘You took on an A-class mission alone and then failed?’
If you fail your first mission after the initiation ceremony you will have to return your knighthood.
Zeke walked towards the administrative department leaving behind the other knights who were muttering while looking at him.
Then I went to the administrative office and gave an envelope to the person in charge.
The person in charge asked Zeke in surprise.
“What is this Sir Zeke Draker?”
“This is a mission completion report. I have attached the letter I received from Golin Jobern inside. I have also attached a confirmation of the facts regarding the letter from the Guild Federation so please check it.”
The secretary’s mouth dropped open when he saw the report and attached documents in the envelope that Zeke had brought.
It was because the work and reports were very neat for a knight who was assigned his first mission.
After checking Golin’s personal letter and the confirmation of facts from the Guild Federation I couldn’t help but be even more surprised.
“Did you really go to the Bavarian territory alone to meet Golin Jobern?”
“Yes. I hear you’re doing very well.”
The secretary was speechless at Zeke’s nonchalant response.
It was because Zeke had truly completed an A-class mission all by himself.
“Is it confirmed?”
The secretary barely came to his senses and nodded at Zeke’s words.
“Yes yes. Sir Zeke Draker mission accomplished.”
Zig received the mission completion certificate handed to him by the secretary and left the Sagyeseong Fortress leaving behind the bewildered expressions on the faces of the office staff.
And the place Zeke stopped by was the hideout where Kay was staying.
Kay was surprised when Zeke showed up without notice.

“Boss? The mission is over already?”
“Okay. But there’s one thing I want to ask you Kay.”
Zeke introduced Richmond to Kay and asked him to give him a new identity and a lab to stay in.
Richmond quick-witted looked at Kay and rubbed his hands together.
“Hehehe. Please take care of me ma’am.”
Kay was surprised to hear that Richmond was Demi Rich.
“Undead? It doesn’t look like it at all.”
“You can think of it as a variant. Is it okay for Richmond to stay in Atlas?”
Kay looked Richmond up and down then nodded.
“It doesn’t really feel like undead so I think it’ll be okay.”
Richmond looked like a snake-like Naga race at first glance so they decided to create a new identity for themselves as a Naga race.
Zeke also took on the task of finding the Luverne clan.
“How long do you think it will take?”
“Hmm at this rate it’ll probably take more than two weeks.”
“Okay let me know as soon as you get the information.”
Zeke also took out Richmond’s research materials and the artifacts containing demonic powers he had brought from the camp from a gloomy room in a corner of the hideout.
“Research what this artifact is. If you find anything even the smallest one let me know right away.”
“Understood master. Don’t worry.”
After giving Richmond the mission and passing it on to Kay Zeke headed to the mansion for the first time in a long while.
“Welcome my lord.”
But there was something strange about Decker’s expression when he met Zeke.
“Decker what’s wrong? What’s wrong?”
Decker who was usually calm and composed was strangely distracted in his prayers.
At that moment I felt a commotion inside the mansion.
‘Hmm?’
Zeke left Decker behind who was sighing and headed straight to the reception room.
When I went into the living room two teenage boys I had never seen before were lying on the sofa drinking juice and eating snacks.
Cookie crumbs were scattered everywhere and the walls were painted strange colors.
Decker who had followed behind frowned and trembled at the sight of the two.
Zeke realized that the culprits who had broken Decker’s immense patience were those children.
The children sprawled out on the sofa were wearing robes that were too big for their age.
Surprisingly both men’s robes were adorned with the overlapping hexagonal diagram that symbolized a canonical alchemist.
Zeke tilted his head as he looked at the two people who subtly resembled each other.
‘Those guys no way…?’
There were some people who crossed Zeke’s mind.
They were the genius twin alchemists Al and Jeff.
Then Al and Jeff spotted Zeke and jumped up shouting.

“Water! The waterer has come!”
Al and Jeff who still had youthful faces for a young man rushed toward Zeke.
Then Decker stepped forward and spoke to them.
“Stop! If you act rudely to the young master I won’t let you stay still any longer!”
Seeing Decker like that Zeke clicked his tongue.
‘If a decent Decker came out like this then you can tell just how much chaos these mischievous kids will cause.’
They had cute faces but their actions were modeled after those of demons.
Zeke gestured to Decker that it was okay and spoke to the twins.
“Al and Jeff. First time seeing each other.”
Then his older brother Al smiled and held out his hand.
“Nice to meet you Sir Zeke Draker.”
Zick took the hand that Al extended.
But then a message window popped up.
[A drug containing a large amount of laughing mushrooms was detected.]
[Neutralizes poison with a constitution that is impervious to poison.]
As they were known for their pranks they played a prank with a laughter-inducing drug from their first meeting.
Al tilted his head when Zeke showed no reaction even though he was holding his hand and Jeff nodded to Al as if asking what he was doing.
Zeke squeezed Al’s hand tightly.
Al’s face distorted as Zeke’s grip grew stronger.
“Ugh let go of my hand for a moment…”
Zeke squeezed Al’s hand even tighter.
He said with a snicker.
“The pureblood awakened person’s gloves are made of dragon leather so they are flexible and block various contaminants. For example things like laughing mushrooms.”
Al and Jeff were surprised by Zeke’s words.
When he let go of her hand Al rubbed his hand and took a step back.
“Ugh. I thought my hand was going to break.”
Jeff shouted at Zeke.
“Hey you were just joking! You’re trying to break the alchemist’s precious hand! Isn’t that too much!”
Then Zeke sat down on the sofa and spoke to the two of them.
“If I had wanted to I could have ripped off my whole arm not just my hand.”
Al and Jeff’s faces turned pale at Zeke’s cold voice.
Although they were the world’s greatest mischievous children there was something about Zeke that was undeniable and made it impossible for him to run wild.
“What should we do Tongue? Our plan is completely ruined.”
“Damn it. I need to take the initiative and set the mood in the first half.”
I tried to keep my voice as low as possible but Zeke could hear everything I said. Zeke snorted inwardly and said to Al and Jeff.
“I think you have something to say. Say it quickly. I’m busy.”
Al and Jeff sat on the couch looking slightly dejected.
Jeff spoke first to Zeke.
“How could you not be scared? I thought you were wearing a laughing mushroom.”
“I don’t know why I have to tell you.”
Jeff shut his mouth tightly as if he had been hit with a bullet.
This time Zeke looked at the two and said.
“I think I paid enough for the two of you through Payne. Why did you come all the way here to see me? I think I told you in advance to avoid any contact as much as possible.”
Al and Jeff felt their momentum falter under Zeke’s sharp gaze and firm voice.
Al said in a slightly trembling voice.
“That’s it. Is there a problem…”
Zig frowned at Al’s words.
“Problems? Do you think I paid you over a hundred thousand gold to create problems?”
Al and Jeff flinched at Zeke’s words.
As he said one hundred thousand gold was a huge amount of money.
There was no sponsor who provided as many precious materials as Zigg.
Al whose voice had become very small spoke carefully to Zeke.
“That’s it. Rather than a problem…”
Zig stared at Al silently. Then Al felt even more suffocated than before.
‘I’m scared of dogs. Damn it.’
When Al couldn’t speak properly Jeff who was next to him spoke.
“The bar isn’t fermenting!”
Zeke turned his head towards Jeff and opened his mouth.
“What do you mean it doesn’t ferment?”
Jeff gulped and said
“In order to suppress the toxic effects of Sosoma and make it into a medicine you have to change the ingredients through a fermentation process… but what I’m saying is that no matter what method you use it doesn’t work. No.”
Zeke listened to Jeff’s words and thought deeply.
‘It didn’t ferment.’
Zeke had never learned alchemy in his past life so Jeff’s words didn’t make sense to him.
When it seemed as if Zeke didn’t quite understand what he was saying Al took out the toolbox next to him.
When Al opened the box and unfolded it it seemed as if a small laboratory had spread out on the table.
Zick looked at the toolbox Al had opened with curiosity.
‘They say all alchemists have their own toolboxes. That’s interesting. Do they magically shrink things and put them in the boxes?’
Zeke looked at the beakers and flasks containing various liquids with curiosity.
Then Al pointed to one of the flasks.
“This is the natural raw material of Soma. According to our hypothesis if this ferments and changes its composition it will have a tremendous effect.”
“What comes out when it ferments?”
“Have you ever heard of antibiotics?”
“Are you talking about a drug that prevents infection? I think it still exists.”
When Zeke unexpectedly learned about antibiotics Al and Jeff were surprised and continued their explanation.
“The medications on the market now are extremely expensive and have serious side effects. If used incorrectly they can cause necrosis in the area where the medication was injected.”
Zeek changed his posture after hearing Al’s words.
“Does that mean that the antibiotic that fermented that soma will have no side effects?”
Al and Jeff nodded their expressions brightening.
“That’s right! But… the research is not progressing because fermentation samples are not being created.”
“But why did you come to me? If there’s no progress I’ll go and do more research.”
Then Al and Jeff looked embarrassed and said to Zeke.
“That that…..”
Zeke clicked his tongue with a face of bewilderment as he looked at the expressions of the two people.
“Have you used up all your budget? A hundred thousand gold?”
Al and Jeff looked at each other and licked their lips.
Because we only used materials that were difficult to obtain and expensive there was no way we had any budget left.
Al shouted at Zig.
“Please trust us and give us research funds just this one more time! When this antibiotic is completed! It will be a truly amazing medicine!”
Zeke looked at Al and Jeff with a displeased expression.
The two men looked at Zeke with a puzzled look in their eyes and tried to secure the budget.
He said shaking his head.
“I’m not an expert in this field so I can’t make a decision right away. When Payne comes I’ll ask for his opinion and let you know.”
At Zeke’s words the two people’s faces turned pale.
“That that…..”
If we asked Payne about additional research funding for the two it was clear that he would never grant permission.
This was because Paynen caught them spending most of their budget on buying expensive ingredients and using those ingredients to make their own prank potions.
So I came to see Zeke when Payne was on a business trip down south.
Zeke who has a keen eye for detail reads through Al and Jeff’s inner thoughts.
He clicked his tongue and picked up the flask containing soma.
“What good is having good skills? I’ve lost the trust of my superiors. So how can I get my money’s worth?”
Al and Jeff were speechless at Zeke’s words.
The two men’s usual motto was that ‘amazing inventions are created through pranks’ but if they brought up that here not only would they not get a new budget but they might end up having both their arms ripped off.
“Jeff I think we’re done.”
“That’s why I said not to get involved with Draker.”
As the twins lowered their voices and criticized each other Zeke pretended not to hear their conversation and looked at the soma in the flask.
‘Is it that difficult to ferment this? If it’s fermented isn’t it a kind of corruption?’
A sudden thought occurred to Zeke and he tried using the power of corruption for fun.
Bubbling bubbling!
The soma which had been like a white powder suddenly turned into a liquid due to Zeke’s power and began to boil.
The twins who had been blaming each other were surprised to see the beaker containing Zeke.
“What about that reaction!?”
