A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 125
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 125
Golin made a bewildered expression when he saw the set of iron armor that Zig took out.
“Oh my goodness you made armor out of this precious metal….”
Golin looked around at the Yuncheol armor as if he was speechless.
“Is this enough?”
Golin nodded.
“It’s not a complete ore but if we melt it down and extract it we should be able to extract as much as we need.”
Zig nodded after hearing Golin’s words.
‘But things are going too well.’
I didn’t know that the set of meteor armor that came from the random box given by the system would be helpful.
Even with the help of the system I couldn’t help but feel uneasy about the results seeming to predict some behavior.
‘I feel like someone is intentionally helping me… Am I being too sensitive?’
As he had not yet properly grasped the identity of the system Zik could not be entirely happy about it.
At that moment Golin who was examining the iron armor spoke to Zig.
“And there remains one more problem.”
He pointed to the brazier.
“To refine the iron and the orharicon you need to create the ‘purest fire.’ But that furnace is not capable of creating it right now.”
“What is the purest fire? Is it something like a magic furnace?”
Golin clicked his tongue at Zeke’s words.
“You’re talking like that guy Gelion the magic furnace.”
“You know Gelion really created that furnace and made my sword.”
At those words Golin looked puzzled.
“What? You actually made that ridiculous story come true? What kind of crazy person would do something like that!”
Zig the one who had created the brazier had a slightly embarrassed expression on his face.
He changed the subject.
“If not is there anything else needed to create pure fire?”

At Zeke’s words Golin nodded and said.
“Fire is the last of the four elements to be formed. It is created by combining such complex and diverse elements. However pure fire must be a combination of such diverse elements yet it must have the most original form of fire without any additional mixtures.”
Zig tilted his head at Golin’s words.
‘Somehow it seems similar to what I heard from Master Caesar.’
When learning the Elemental Sword the water field was the most difficult to learn but the fire field was relatively easy for Zigg to learn.
Golin poured out his definition of pure fire and the difficult process of refining fire to create it.
Zeke watched Golin lost in his own world as he approached the brazier.
Then he generated elemental power and unleashed a field of firepower.
Whoosh whoosh!
As more elemental energy was poured into the red-hot fire the fire gradually turned white.
Zeke said to Golin.
“Is this the pure fire you were talking about?”
After talking to himself for a while Golin finally turned his head towards Zig.
“Do you think pure fire can be made just by lighting a fire? It goes through an incredibly complicated process… Oh my! It’s pure fire!”
Golin was astonished at the fire Zeke had lit and brought his head closer to the brazier.
He looked back and forth between Fire and Zigg and asked in a disbelieving voice.
“Did you make this?”
“I made it just in case.”
“How can a crazy person like this create pure fire?”
Zeke wondered how to explain it but decided to tell the truth.
‘After all Master Caesar wanted his achievements to be widely known.’
As Zeke reached out to the brazier pure fire rose into his palm.
Golin was amazed at the sight.
“Oh my God. Is it magic? Is that it?”
“No. It’s the power of elemental force.”
“Elemental power? What is that?”
“If I say this you might think I’m crazy but… would you believe me if I told you that it was the power of the Hero King Caesar?”
“Ka Kaisir?”
Golin’s face distorted as he heard Zeke’s words.
Zeke continued speaking seemingly oblivious to the reaction.
“I have continued the progress of King Heroes Caesar. Elemental power is the unique power of the King Heroes.”
“Are you expecting me to believe that now? That guy was a legend to begin with.”
“You saw it earlier. The unlucky boss with the sky-blue eyes.”
“What? How is that the face of the King of Heroes? It was just a plate of unlucky elves!”
“It feels similar to being half-fairy or elf.”
Golin who had difficulty believing Zeke’s words finally had no choice but to believe them after seeing the pure fire burning fiercely in the brazier again.
“Elemental power? Could you please tell me about it?”

“It’s not hard to teach you but umm… can dwarves also handle mana?”
“Mana? Are you talking about magic power?”
“No. It’s just mana itself. You could say it’s the source of magical power.”
“How can you just handle that? Isn’t that what magic is processing it to be able to use it?”
“Then you can’t learn this.”
“Damn it… Just tell me once. Get that damn thing out of here! I’ll do it! Right now!”
Although Zeke was taken aback by Golin’s words which were short-tempered he explained about mana and showed him how to feel it.
Golin tried to feel the mana as Zeke said.
“Euuuum!”
Golin’s understanding of fire and iron was greater than anyone else’s so he seemed to be able to exert elemental powers against fire even if he didn’t know anything else but he couldn’t actually feel mana.
Zeke remembered what Caesar had said.
‘Why didn’t you teach the Elemental Sword to the elves? Why wouldn’t you? I tried. But the elves can sense mana well but they can’t convert it into elemental power.’
On the other hand dwarves seemed to have no sense of mana to understand elemental powers.
‘I understand why no one learned the Elemental Sword for 2000 years.’
Golin who had been trying to feel mana finally gave up after a long time.
“Damn magic power is also made from mana so why doesn’t it work?”
Golin said looking at Zeke.
“I can’t help it. You’re going to have to help me.”
“What do you mean?”
“Be the brazier next to me.”
In short it was a call to light a pure fire.
“All right.”
Zeke nodded as the eccentric craftsman obediently took on the repairs.
It was already getting late so I decided to sleep overnight and start working tomorrow morning.
Dinner was actually prepared by Zeke who treated Golin to a warm soup and soft bread made with ingredients taken from his inventory.
Gorlin who was fed up with the monster meat of the Barbarians ate the food happily.
While eating Zeke asked Golin.
“Come to think of it have you ever handled Orichalcum before Mr. Golin?”
Golin nodded.
“Once. About fifty years ago.”
“Gollin said sipping his beer.
“It was an item from the Lubern Dynasty before the Holy Empire and it was quite valuable. In the Paladin Lubern era it was a sacred knight. It was a hammer used by a sacred knight and it was made entirely of orichalcum.”
“It’s the Orichalcum Hammer. How fascinating.”
“Since you’ve been treated to such delicious food I’ll tell you a funny story. It’s said that in the past in Luverne there was a way to artificially create orichalcum.”
“Huh? You’re saying you’re making Orichalcum the metal of the gods?”
“Yes. It is thought to be a type of sacred magic that has now disappeared… but some say that it is a ‘philosopher’s stone’ created by alchemists that changes the composition of metals.”
“The Philosopher’s Stone. In the story it only says that it can turn useless lumps of iron into gold but I didn’t know that it could also create Orichalcum.”
“That’s just a hypothesis. And if you have Orichalcum you can get as much gold as you want.”
“Well that’s true.”
Golin continued speaking taking a sip of his beer.
“Anyway with the disappearance of the Luverne Dynasty the secret recipe was lost forever. If the secret recipe had been passed down even though Orichalcum was rare it might have become as popular as Mithril.”
“But if there was a way to make orichalcum during the Luverne Dynasty shouldn’t there be some orichalcum left over from that time? I’ve never seen any items from the Luverne Dynasty in the auction house that were made of orichalcum.”
At those words Golin put down his beer glass hard.
“That’s what I’m saying! It’s all because of those greedy Holy Kingdom guys!”
“Yes? Why the Holy Kingdom?”
“Orichalcum is a metal given by the gods so the Pope declared that it belongs to the church. That’s why everything made of orichalcum is still the property of the church.”
“Oh my god. Then all the Orichalcum items…?”
“It must have been kept tightly hidden in the treasure vault of the Holy Kingdom.”
Zeke realized anew why the Holy Kingdom was a wealthy country.
‘When the Holy Empire fell they took all the treasures. But how did Cain have the Hersion of the goddess Theia made of orichalcum?’
When Zeke questioned Golin took another sip of beer and said:
“The Orichalcum Hammer I mentioned earlier probably came from the Holy Kingdom. The person who brought it to me was also a Paladin. At first glance the atmosphere was ominous and it seemed like it was an Arch Paladin but I didn’t ask him about it because I thought there was some reason behind it.”
As Zeke listened to Golin’s words something occurred to him.
‘Hmm somehow he seems like Paladin Felix’s grandfather.’
It wasn’t uncommon for an Arch Paladin to escape from the Holy Kingdom.
If it was about fifty years ago it would have been roughly the same time period as Felix had mentioned.
‘This is an Orichalcum Hammer from the Luverne Dynasty. Could it be that Felix’s grandfather had some kind of connection to a descendant of the Luverne Dynasty?’
Maybe there was something left behind by Felix’s grandfather.
After chugging down his beer Golin continued to tell stories that were not very interesting and before he knew it he was snoring and falling asleep.
After laying Golin down Zeke organized the points he had not finished earlier.
‘I have some points so let’s increase my inventory. I wonder how much it will be.’
Since you could expand four spaces for 1 point 100 points would be 400 spaces.
I wanted to increase it more but the intermediate manager was limited to 500 spaces.
As inventory spaces increase the number of items you can store also increases.
Since he had some free time after a long time Zig looked around the system’s store and bought various items he needed.
“Whew I ended up spending 2000 points buying this and that.”
Since I need more points to unlock the 4th level of the Dragon Clan skill I decided to save up the remaining points for now without using them.
Only after finishing organizing the points did Zeke go to bed with a relieved heart.
* * *
The next day Golin was busy from early in the morning.
I placed Hersion on the workbench and placed the Meteor Armor set on the furnace.
Golin said to Zeke.
“I will melt the iron armor with pure fire. Get ready.”
Zig immediately unleashed a field of firepower creating pure fire.
Whoosh whoosh!
A white fire arose from the brazier.
Golin shouted at Zeke.
“Okay! Now set the fire intensity to 1. Adjust the intensity as I say.”
“All right.”
Golin shouted as he put the set of Uncheol armor into the fire.
“10!”
Zig adjusted the intensity of the fire as Golin said.
Whoosh whoosh!
Zeke the owner of a fierce and excellent sense was able to match the intensity that Golin wanted.
The set of cloud armor slowly began to melt in the pure fire.
“15!”
The pure fire burning fiercely burned away all the iron elements remaining in the iron armor.
Only after Zigg had been attached to the furnace and kept the fire burning for half a day was he finally able to extract pure meteorite.
Golin carefully carried the extracted meteorite and poured it onto the surface of Hersion which he had placed on the workbench.
Cheeeeeeek―
Liquefied meteorite began to rapidly seep into Herzion.
Golin shouted at Zeke.
“Keep the fire going for 3 centuries until I say it’s done!”
Zik kept the pure fire going constantly.
When I used the Firepower field I was only focused on starting a large fire but this was the first time I maintained it for this long.
‘Is this also something that can be accomplished?’
While Zig maintained the pure fire Golin sweating profusely wore a magnifying glass and delicately worked on the meteorite coated on the surface of Hersion.
Golin used his crafting tools to send out magical powers connecting the broken circuits of Hersion and filling in the missing parts.
Golin worked on his craft for three days straight without sleeping.
Of course Zig who had to maintain pure fire also had to work with them for three days.
And on the third day Golin’s work was finished.
“Okay!”
After finishing the last part of the work Golin spoke to Zeke with a pale face.
“Just give it a try.”
Zeke reached out his hand towards Hersion.

In an instant each joint of Hersion opened and floated into the air on its own attaching itself to Zig’s body.
Clang! Clang!
Hersion wrapped itself around Zig’s body.
And then the message window popped up again.
