    Episode 118

‘They were sent by the Duke of Graham.’

Zeke thought about the information he had given to Duke Graham about the ancient sorcerer who had placed a curse on Angelina.

But after hearing the story I realized there was a problem: there was no ancient sorcerer in the dungeon he had told me about.

The timing wasn’t right when Zeke caught him.

Duke Graham mobilized his knights as well as experienced dungeon-digging adventurers to capture the ancient sorcerer.

    Rick continued.

“I heard there was an evil warlock around here so I came to see if he was the sorcerer Duke Graham was looking for.”

Richmond who was behind him gritted his teeth as if he had been insulted by those words.

He was quietly doing his favorite research with monster bones when an adventurer party barged into his dungeon and his pride was hurt when he mistook them for evil sorcerers casting curses.

‘Master! I am by no means a lowly sorcerer who would cast such evil spells!’

Richmond couldn’t bring himself to say it out loud so he protested so only Zeke could hear.

‘Okay I know so just keep quiet.’

    Zeke said to Rick.

“Unfortunately there was no such sorcerer here. The wizard Richmond searched every nook and cranny but found no trace of such a person.”

Rick and his group looked disappointed at Zeke’s words.

“I see. I searched all over the dungeons to find it but I can’t find where it went.”

Zeke listened to Rick’s words and thought deeply.

‘Hmm they seem like pretty skilled adventurers so it’ll be fine if we use them well.’

“Rick by the way I have some information on an evil sorcerer. I don’t know if he’s the same sorcerer you’re looking for but it seems possible.”

Zig gave the adventurers some information he had obtained before capturing the ancient sorcerer in his previous life that they could use for tracking him.

Jason the wizard took notes diligently on Zeke’s words.

Jason nodded after hearing Zeke’s words.

“Aha it’s possible that it’s not on the Barbarian side but rather in the northern part.”

“I’ve heard that sorcerers unlike warlocks mainly seek out traces of forgotten ancient gods or evil spirits in order to find the mysterious power that remains there.”

    Rick nodded at Zeke’s words.

“That makes sense. I should go to the place you mentioned and look for traces of the sorcerer.”

“If you find any traces of the sorcerer do not attempt to engage with him and always contact the Duke of Graham. Failure to do so may result in an evil ancient curse.”

Rick and his group nodded at Zeke’s firm words.

They spent the night at the campsite and headed down the mountain early as the sun rose.

“Thank you for your help Mr. Zig. I will definitely repay your kindness next time we meet.”

“I really hope we find traces of the sorcerer.”

As Rick and his men descended the mountain range Zeke watched them for a while and then took Richmond up to the Barbarian territory.

As they were climbing the mountain Zick suddenly remembered something and asked Richmond.

“Richmond have you ever heard of a place called the Abyss?”

Richmond shook his head at those words.

    “No master. What is that?”

“No. I asked just in case. Then of course you don’t know what the ‘Book of the Dead’ is.”

    “Oh I know that.”

Zeke was startled by those words.

    “What? You really know?”

Richmond was rather dumbfounded by Zeke’s reaction.

    “Yes I know but… wasn’t it something I shouldn’t have known?”

“No there is no reason why not. Tell me what the Book of the Lion is.”

Richmond said with a smug look on his face when Zeke asked him a question.

“The Book of the Lion is probably not well known to the general public.”

“Say it briefly without any unnecessary details.”

“Yes. The Book of the Lion is in a word a book that the Demon King left to humans.”

“The book written by the Demon King? Tell me more about it.”

Richmond grumbled to himself as he watched Zeke ask him to summarize briefly and then explain in detail again.

    “I can hear you mumbling.”

    “Ouch! I’m sorry Master.”

    Richmond began to explain again.

“Do you know the legend of the heroic king Caesar?”

He was not just someone who knew he was someone who had personally learned swordsmanship from the King of Heroes.

Zeke nodded without showing his feelings.

    Richmond quickly opened his mouth.

“Do you know the story of how the Hero King Caesar sealed the Demon King?”

At those words Zeke shook his head.

“No I haven’t heard anything like that.”

While I was training under the spirit of Caesar I heard many stories but I never heard anything about the Demon King.

    Richmond nodded and said.

“It’s not a well-known story. In fact to be exact it’s not the hero-king Caesar but his father the ‘wise man’ who did the deeds.”

    “Wise man?”

“Yes. You probably know that Caesar is a half-human half-elf born between a wise man and the fairy king.”

“Yeah. I didn’t really like it though.”

Richmond tilted his head at Zeke’s words and then continued.

“The reason the Fairy King and the Sage created Caesar was none other than to stop the Demon King.”

“Huh? So you’re saying that they didn’t give birth to Caesar because they loved each other but created him?”

“How could fairies who are not from this world have love with humans? The Fairy King borrowed the power of the Sage and created a being that he had breathed his own power into. The Sage entrusted Caesar who had received his and the Fairy King’s powers to the fire-breathing Wolf King and raised him to be a hero.”

“In the storybooks I read it said that he was abandoned as a baby by an evil wizard and raised by wolves.”

“Yes? Could it be that the wise man lost the King of Heroes so absurdly?”

When I heard it it was true.

It was a complicated family history that I couldn’t ask Caesar himself so there was no such information in the chronicle video Caesar left behind.

The chronicles were mostly about how Caesar founded the kingdom of Kronos and how he met and brought his men under his wing.

The story about the Demon King that Richmond spoke of was not in it.

“Anyway when the King of Heroes established the Kingdom of Cronus and the kingdom of humans was created the Demon King attacked the real world with the Demon Tribe at the forefront.”

“Wait a minute a demon? Isn’t that an imaginary creature that adults use to scare children?”

    Richmond looked at Zeke incredulously.

“The demons are imaginary beings. Then how can black magicians learn black magic?”

“It must have been done using a corrupted soul and forbidden technology.”

“That’s the method the demons taught me.”

    “Huh?”

When he first heard the story Zeke looked even more dumbfounded than Richmond.

“Anyway the one who created the method of dealing with all corrupted souls including the black magic I just mentioned is the Demon King and the demons as the Demon King’s retinue tempted humans and spread that black magic throughout the world.”

    “Why human?”

“Well it’s because humans are the most prone to temptation?”

    “That sounds plausible.”

“Since you can easily gain great power by offering your soul to the Demons the number of black magicians increases rapidly in the world. And they eventually go so far as to perform a ritual to summon the Demons to the real world.”

    “These guys are crazy.”

“The demons who descended to the real world by the black magicians created evil beasts with their evil powers and brought chaos to the world. When the King of Heroes tried to stop them it was already too late. In the end the Demon King descended to the real world.”

“Why wasn’t this information passed down to later generations?”

“Well well. When I was in the world things like this weren’t hidden….”

    “So anyway what happened?”

“The Demon King was so powerful that he could not just come to the present world. He needed a strong body that could handle his power. There was only one body in the world that could handle the Demon King.”

    “What is that?”

    “It’s a dragon.”

    “what?”

“Only the body of a fallen dragon can withstand the power of the Demon King.”

    Richmond continued.

“Even if he had the body of a dragon it was difficult to withstand all of the Demon King’s power. In the end the Demon King created a book containing his power which is called the Book of the Dead. Its actual name is the ‘Necronomicon.’”

    “Does that book really exist?”

“It’s a story from the time of the King of Heroes so there may be some additions and omissions. It’s a story that has been passed down as a legend but isn’t some if not all of it true?”

    “Hmm….”

Since he was a swordsman who had been trained directly by the legendary hero King Caesar he knew that legends were not just made-up stories.

    Zeke asked Richmond again.

“Were there people looking for that book called the Necronomicon?”

“It’s an interesting legend but no one really believes that the book exists. Even if it did it’s an unmanageable thing. It’s a legend that’s been passed down secretly among black magicians along with the King in Yellow…”

“So that’s why the wise man sealed the fallen demon king?”

“Yes. It says that the Sage and the Knights of the Clock Tower of the King of Heroes joined forces to seal the Demon King but in the process the Sage sacrificed his soul.”

“Where is the Demon King sealed?”

“Where is it? It’s the Necronomicon. The souls of the wise man and the demon lord are sealed inside it.”

Thanks to Richmond Zeke unexpectedly finds a clue to the Book of the Dead.

‘Does Narak believe in the existence of the book and try to find it himself to break the Demon King’s seal?’

The very idea of the Demon King’s seal didn’t really resonate with me because it sounded like something from an old legend.

What are you going to do by releasing the Demon King into the world now?

‘Unlike the King of Heroes he is just a legend.’

It could be so because not all legends are based on real events.

‘I guess I’ll know what it is if I catch those Abyss guys.’

Anyway now that we had a clue we had a way to track them down.

While talking about this and that Zeke and Richmond diligently climbed towards the Bavarian territory.

Because Zeke had killed so many monsters the day before the monsters didn’t come near even when Richmond used magic.

Zigg who had missed a lot of points was licking his lips.

    Richmond asked Zeke cautiously.

“Master do you have any grudge against monsters? Why are you so anxious about not being able to catch them….”

Then something clicked with Zeke’s senses.

‘This energy… is it a demon?’

He left Richmond and ran towards where he felt the aura of the devil.

    Choaack!

Richmond gaped at Zig as he ran stepping on tree branches.

    “Let’s go together master!”

    * * *

    Wow!

Giant demons rushed towards the barbarians.

    “Khuuuuuuuuuu!”

The barbarians ran with huge hammers shouting battle cries louder than the demons.

    bang!

A hammer with strong force struck the demon’s body.

    Kuung!

The demons who were hit by the hammer were blown away and hit the rocks.

Usually if it were a monster the brain would explode and the entire body would be torn to pieces but the Demon Beast was different.

    Wood thud-

The broken body and head reattached then opened its huge maw again revealing sharp teeth.

Among the Barbarians one with a particularly large and well-built body stepped forward.

    “Fist of the King!”

The warrior Wang Ju-Fist of the Rock Tribe has appeared.

Wang Ju-Fuk stood in front of the demon with a fist as big as the head of an average barbarian warrior.

    “asleep!”

He threw his fists at the demons.

    Puppupupupup!

The demons more mangled than when they had been struck by a hammer fell down oozing black fluid.

It’s recovering little by little but it’s slower than before.

Wang Ju-fuk said as he looked at the other barbarian warriors.

“There are too many demons. We must step back.”

Then the other warriors said excitedly.

    “Shocked?”

Wang Ju-fist glared at the other barbarian warrior and ground his teeth.

    “Do you want to die?”

While the barbarians were fighting among themselves the demons recovered and rose again.

The King’s Fist and the Barbarians once again shouted battle cries at the demons.

It was a shout that would make even an ogre run away but it had no effect on the demons.

Wang Ju-Fist had a feeling that this might be the final battle.

The barbarians including Wang Ju-fuk rushed at the demons prepared to die.

    Kaaaaaaah!

It was when the demons and barbarians were fighting entangled together.

At that moment a powerful light poured down from the sky behind me.

    Kwakwakwakwakwang!

The light hammer that Zeke activated hit the demons directly.

    Kaaaaaaah!

The demons who were hit by the hammer of light retreated in confusion as their magic energy dispersed.

    Phew!

Zeke swung his Auror Blade at the demons.

    Keeeeek―

The barbarians looked at Zeke with bewildered eyes as they watched him suddenly appear and trample on the demons.

At that moment Wang Ju-fuk who was observing the situation raised his fist and shouted.

    “Zeke!”

Then Zeke turned around and saw Wang Jumuk raising his fist.

    “Fist of the King?”

Wang Ju-Fist ran towards Zeke with his arms wide open and a joyful expression on his face.

Zig who had cut off the head of the demon spoke to the running Wang Ju-fuk.

“Did you forget? I’m the older brother.”

    “ah.”
