A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 115
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 115
Kookung!
The great halls of Atumfell were filled with Draker knights.
Each and every one of them was a big shot holding the position of captain or vice-captain of a knight order affiliated with the Drakers.
That was when.
Squeak!
The doors to Atumpel opened and twenty-four new knights dressed in Draker-specific uniforms entered the hall for their initiation ceremony.
The formal knighthood ceremony of the Drake family had a special meaning.
The point was that he chose the order he would belong to and began his life as a knight.
As the star-like knight commanders of the Draker family watched the new knights walked confidently towards the platform where their master Arthur Draker stood.
I paid attention to every single detail of my walking posture to make a good impression.
And among those twenty-four new knights was Zeke.
‘It’s brutal.’
The twenty-three knights excluding Zeke were those who had passed a harsh training period after receiving the rank of full knight.
On the other hand considering that Zeke was the winner of the Draker Martial Arts Tournament and a Blue Knight he was able to participate in the official induction ceremony right away without a training period through special recruitment.
The wide hall was filled with the hot gazes of the knight commanders trying to secure talent first even with new knights entering and the desire of the new knights to somehow enter a good knight order.
The twenty-four knights who came up to the stage stood in their assigned positions.
Arthur Draker the master of the house looked at the new knights from the front podium.
Excluding Zeke who was given the rank of regular knight through special recruitment the one with the highest score among those who took the official exam stood in front of the head of the class as the representative of the class and took the oath.
Arthur Draker himself placed the dragonslayer badges on the knights’ chests.
Arthur approached Zeke who was standing at the very end because he was a special recruit.
He said this while putting the dragon sword on Zeke’s chest.
“I look forward to seeing which order you choose.”
Arthur immediately returned to his seat.
From now on the most important part of the initiation ceremony began.
Each new knight had to decide for himself which order he would join.

Since the number of knights that an order could have per banner was limited to three the order had to strategize well to take the three best talents.
The first person to take the oath was the representative of the knights who was given the authority to choose the order.
“I will choose the Black Wolf Group.”
The Black Wolf was a knight order directly affiliated with the Draker family led by Gareth Draker the Scarred Knight and Guardian Knight.
Gareth looked at the representative of the knights who had chosen his order and nodded.
He was given the mark of the Black Wolf.
Other new knights also chose the knighthood they wanted based on their performance.
The knights of the upper ranks were able to join the knightly order of their choice but those of the middle ranks and above began to be rejected.
Any new knight who was rejected by all the knight orders selected up to the third rank had to remain on standby until another knight order took him.
However even though they were ranked in the lower tier there was no doubt about their skills themselves as the internal competition was fierce and there was a difference.
In any case he was destined to be assigned to another knighthood that needed manpower.
After all the new recruits who had passed the official test were assigned it was finally the turn of the special recruit Zeke.
Zeke stepped forward.
In an instant the atmosphere of Atumpel changed.
Although he was a special recruit it was natural that all the knights coveted Zeke who was a pure-blooded Awakener the youngest blue promoter and the youngest Valhalla graduate.
And among them was the Black Stage the Drake intelligence unit.
Baron Draker the Dark Master was whispering something with Duke Draker.
‘Why is the teacher standing there like that?’
Zeke felt burdened by the gaze of the Black Stage Commander looking at him.
Arthur who was behind said.
“Zeke Draker which order will you choose?”
Most expected that Zeke would choose the Silver Knights led by Kali Draker.
This was because rumors had already spread throughout the Four Seasons that she had recruited Zeke Draker.
But just in case the knight commanders appealed to Zeke with their eyes.
Then Zeke looked up and said.
“I will not choose the Knights.”
For a moment silence flowed through the hall.
Everyone thought they had misheard something.
At one point as the silence continued a low murmur filled the hall.
Arthur Draker who was on the podium broke the silence and spoke again.
“I ask you again. Zeke Draker which order will you choose?”
Then Zeke opened his mouth and spoke in a clear voice.
“My answer remains the same. I will not choose any place.”
Then the knights’ muttering grew louder.
Arthur Draker who was on the podium slammed his hand on the table.
Woohoo!
The entire hall of Atumpel shook with waves.

Then silence fell again.
Arthur Draker stepped down from the stage and stood in front of Zeke.
“What do you mean you won’t choose the Knights?”
“It is true. I will not choose the Knighthood but will carry out my duties as a knight on my own.”
The expressions of the elders behind him distorted at those words.
No one in Drake history has ever made a choice like this.
Arthur said to Zeke.
“Does that mean you’re going to undertake your first mission alone?”
Drake’s new knights are sent on their first mission immediately after their initiation ceremony.
The commander of the knights’ guild evaluated the new knights and assigned them to perform selected missions. The knight’s rank was determined based on how well he performed each mission.
Moreover if a new knight fails his first mission at this time he will be stripped of his knighthood.
That is why the judgment of the Knight Commander who selected the mission and the assistance of the Knights were very important.
Zeke nodded looking at Arthur.
“Yes.”
Arthur looked at Zeke with a strange expression.
Then he quickly nodded.
“i get it.”
He turned around and spoke to the gathered knights.
“Zeke Draker has decided to run as an independent.”
The elders behind Arthur were shocked by his decision.
“A pureblood Awakened man of the family does not choose a knighthood! It goes against tradition!”
Arthur stepped up to the podium and spoke to the elders.
“Nowhere in the family code does it say that a pureblood Awakened must choose a knighthood.”
“Ha but… if I fail my first mission…!”
Arthur sat down and said with a smirk.
“That’s also his choice.”
The elders held their heads as they watched Arthur speak so calmly.
While the knights gathered in the hall were shocked by Zeke’s decision the knight commanders were quickly assessing the situation and choosing the first mission to assign to the new knights.
Clang!
A long large piece of parchment with a list of tasks hanging from the ceiling of the hall.
There were difficult missions that could not be accomplished alone but there were also simple missions that could be done even by non-knights.
The knight commanders looked at the missions written on the parchment and thought deeply.
It was important to find a mission that would be worthy of the Order’s capabilities without being out of line.
The knight commanders chose appropriate missions based on the capabilities of the knights and the new knights.
After all twenty-three men had completed their mission selections it was finally Zeke’s turn.
The clerk said with a frown.
“Since Sir Zeke Draker is independent he must choose a mission and carry it out alone.”
Zeke nodded at the clerk’s words and scanned the parchment.
I was thinking of finishing something random and then focusing on training for a while.
If you choose the Knights you won’t be able to train freely because you don’t know when or how you will be given a mission so you intentionally didn’t choose any place.
‘I feel sorry for Sister Carly but I hope you understand that it might be easier for me to help if I stay outside the Order.’
As Zeke was looking through the parchment missions he came across something that particularly caught his eye.
‘Huh?’
Zeke reviewed the mission once more.
It wasn’t my fault.
<Search mission for the missing master Golin Jobern in the Barbarian territory_Guild Federation request. (Difficulty A-rank)>
The mission difficulty was set to A because it was an official request from the Guild Union.
‘I thought it was in Golin Yobert Himonas but it wasn’t.’
I never thought I would see news of Golin here whom I had wanted to meet at least once because of ancient Hersion.
Zeke chose the mission to search for Golin without hesitation.
Then the hall stirred again.
The clerk who assigned the mission spoke to Zeke in a puzzled voice.
“Sir Zeke Draker this mission is an A-rank mission. To perform an A-rank mission alone without the Knights is….”
“It doesn’t matter. Please deploy it.”
Anyone could see that it was a mission that a rookie knight could not accomplish alone.
The hall was filled with the sound of murmuring.
The secretary made a troubled expression and then reluctantly assigned the search mission to Zeke.
As soon as the mission assignments were complete Arthur Draker stood up.
“The young dragon slayers who will open a new era have officially joined the Knights of the Family! I bless your future! I hope you safely complete your first mission!”
The initiation ceremony ended with the congratulatory speech of the Lord of the Household and the Draker knights gathered at Atumfell began to leave like the tide.
In order to successfully carry out the mission not only the new knights but also the knights themselves were scheduled to prepare.
Zeke also planned to return to the mansion quickly prepare and then move to Argos to move to the Barbarian’s territory.
‘Gollin is missing. Did something happen?’
I thought I should at least roughly find out what happened through Kay.
As he was about to leave the hall someone came up behind Zeke.
“Zeke Draker.”
Zeke turned his head.
He was startled by the face he had not seen in a long time.
“Instructor Owl?”
It was Owl Draker the wooden sword I had met at the academy.
The man who had been like a stone appeared in front of Zig with an even more stone-like appearance.
Zeke saw Owl Draker and realized that his level had risen to a higher level.
‘You broke the Red Knight’s wall.’
Even in his previous life Owl Draker was a red knight.
But this time it seemed like he came to his senses more quickly through his sparring with Zeke.
Aul approached Zeke and said.
“Why didn’t you choose the Knights Templar? You would have been welcomed in any order.”
Zeke looked at Owl in thought then slowly opened his mouth.
“I feel like Instructor Aul will understand what I’m saying so I’ll be honest. I didn’t choose that option because I need time to train on my own.”
Aul looked dumbfounded at Zeke’s words.
You didn’t choose the Knights Templar for your training.
In Drake’s history only Zeek has made this choice.
Aul remained silent with a slightly stiff expression then nodded.
“…I guess you could make that choice.”
The genius that Aul felt from Zeke was beyond his ability to evaluate.
As Zeke said it occurred to me that it might actually be more advantageous for him to display his genius if he did not join the Knights Templar.
Zeke asked Aul.
“By the way Instructor Aul which order of knights do you belong to?”
“I belong to the Cheongeomdan.”
“I heard that the Cheongeomdan is a prestigious order of knights with a long tradition who pursue the ultimate swordsmanship. You seem to fit in well with me Instructor.”
The famous Black Knight Sword King Bernas was from the Cheongeomdan.
Aul nodded and said to Zeke.
“Come in if you have any intention. You are always welcome…”
“No it’s okay.”
It was Zeke who made Owl Draker a man more like a log than a rock sullen.
Aul left the hall saying that he would visit the mansion for sparring once he returned from his mission.
As Zig was about to leave the hall after a short conversation he suddenly realized something.
‘Come to think of it Abel wasn’t seen at the induction ceremony today.’
Abel was a man who never missed an important family event.
Besides the fact that he the leader of the Knights of the Red Lion had not shown up meant that something was wrong.
‘I wonder if they’re plotting something else somewhere.’
Zeke shook his head as he thought of the persistent Abel.
When he finally left Atumfell the hall was empty and deserted.
Then someone appeared from the shadows of the hall.
It was none other than Abel.
Abel was trembling with his fists clenched.
Surprisingly his eyes were red like the demonic eyes of the abyss wizard who had been killed by Zeke before.
He gritted his teeth and muttered.
“Zeke… So you were the one who kept interfering with my work.”
