    Episode 107

    “Haaaah!”

Even a sturdy shield or armor was meaningless in front of the Auror Blade.

Zeke threw the shield he was holding at Antonio who was rushing towards him.

    Crunch!

Antonio broke Zeke’s shield in half.

But the next moment Zeke who was right in front of me disappeared.

    ‘where….’

Before he could even finish his words in his mind Zeke struck Antonio’s helmet with his sword.

    bang!

Antonio didn’t die because he was struck by a normal sword and not an Auror Blade but the impact left him unconscious.

Morgan’s mouth fell open as he saw Zeke defeating three warriors in succession.

It was because he never thought that the articles he sent would be rejected.

    “What the hell…”

Zeke took off his helmet and spoke to Morgan who was in the stands.

“It looks like the match is decided.”

    Morgan’s face turned bright red.

He got up from his seat gritting his teeth.

Then he looked at Zeke and said.

“Sir Zeke… You are interfering too much in matters where you don’t need to intervene.”

“That’s right. If we just leave the Join tribe alone they will figure out how to live well among themselves.”

He was telling us not to cause conflict by touching the Jo In-jok ghetto for no reason.

Morgan left the border headquarters with a frown on his face without even properly greeting Princess Melissa.

Melissa came down from the stands and ran towards Zeke.

“Sir Zeke! My goodness! I can’t believe I won against all the knights of the Empire!”

    “I was just lucky.”

Melissa also knew very well that she had suppressed the knights of the empire with overwhelming skill which was too much to be called luck.

When the imperial army which had been making insulting provocations with its strength returned empty-handed after losing the match it seemed as if the ten-year-old pent-up anger in Alencia was subsiding.

    Zeke said to Melissa.

“The Imperial garrison will not return quietly. They will try to meddle in the Chosun ghetto by making excuses somehow.”

“I don’t understand why the Empire is so obsessed with it. It’s also preventing the treatment of the Hongwha Disease.”

“Your Majesty I have something to show you.”

Zeke headed to the place where the monster’s body was stored with Princess Melissa thinking that he had to report the situation right away.

Liam and Felix were guarding the monster’s body in the morgue located in the basement of the headquarters.

Zeke showed it to Melissa and explained what happened in the Joiner ghetto.

“Are you saying that you found traces of the strange people and the missing carriage near the ghetto?”

“Yes. Except for that monster all the other monsters were in a state of melting and decaying.”

“Oh my God. What the hell is going on in the ghetto?”

Melissa frowned and examined the monster’s corpse.

    That’s when Melissa discovered something.

“Sir Zeke. This monster… has traces of having suffered from safflower disease.”

At Melissa’s words Zeke looked where she was pointing.

“Are you talking about the traces of fever on your face?”

“That’s right. When the disease reaches its final stage the fever worsens and even if you take medicine and get better the scars will remain on your face. But this person has a very severe scar.”

Listening to Melissa I could see that there were traces of fever blooming not only on my face but also all over my body.

“A patient with Hong Hwa Byeong has become a monster.”

At that moment something crossed Zeke’s mind.

‘The plague that occurred in Mycenae…’

I remembered what they said about people who had contracted a plague with symptoms similar to safflower disease turning into zombies.

Lions who looked like zombies but were different from zombies.

Zeke had heard stories about them and thought that they were somewhat similar to monsters.

‘Hong Hwa-Byeong the magic monster and the mysterious zombies. Are they connected? And Abel came here too…’

It felt like putting together a puzzle with missing pieces.

Zeke felt the need to investigate these monsters further.

“Felix Liam. You stay here and protect the princess.”

    “Where are you going Master?”

“I’ll go to the Joinjok ghetto and do some more research.”

I wanted to find out if the Empire really wanted to dig up a dungeon in the Join ghetto.

    Melissa said looking at Zeke.

“Sir Zeke. Are you okay on your own?”

“I’m just going to explore a bit. Don’t worry too much.”

In fact I was curious about the Empire’s intentions but my real purpose was to find out what Abel was trying to do here.

If he came running here right after canceling the agenda above the Guardian Knight then there was definitely something going on.

As it grew dark Zeke put on his iron armor covered his face and headed back to the Zunin ghetto area.

Although it was a Zionist ghetto area the Zionist residence area was located further inland so they were not visible.

‘The Join tribe is the invisible territory of the Join tribe.’

It seemed that only the Join people were suffering as they were caught up in the territorial disputes between the great powers.

The Zun people were gentle-natured and nature-loving but they had been oppressed by humans for so long that hard-line tribes emerged.

They fought against human knights with their strong beaks and innate dragon powers and the ability to tame beasts and monsters.

The reason the Zunin ghetto area was created was because the humans could no longer deal with the powerful Zunin warriors so they drew a boundary line first and made a treaty not to invade each other’s territory.

But hundreds of years passed and humans were again attempting to invade their territory.

While thinking about this and that Zeke passed the cave where the monster had appeared and went further into the valley.

There were red sandstone walls lined up higher than the tower.

Zig scanned the canyon with his eyes trying to find traces of a dungeon.

    ‘Hmm there’s nothing here.’

If the Empire had discovered an ancient dungeon there would definitely have been traces of hunting dogs.

    Zeke looked around calmly again.

Then I discovered a narrow path leading into the valley.

Zeke looked into the dragon’s eyes and found traces of the person who had entered that path.

    ‘Is it this way?’

If it weren’t for the dragon’s eyes I would have just passed by.

Zig opened the map and entered the path inside the canyon.

Fortunately the road itself was not complicated.

As we passed through the narrow path a massive sandstone wall appeared.

Thanks to his eyesight Zig can see things even in the dark and he discovers statues carved into the sandstone walls.

‘Oh my god. What is this?’

Dozens of gigantic faces of warriors were carved into the canyon walls as if they had been carved by the ancient tribesmen.

Zeke was astonished by its scale.

There was no statue of this scale in the Empire or the Midlands.

‘They say that the ancient Join tribes formed a civilization that was almost national in scale. It wasn’t a lie.’

Zeke occasionally watched the recorded footage left behind by Caesar and absorbed the knowledge from the era of the Kingdom of Kronos.

And in Caesar’s records there were quite a few stories about ancient races that are no longer known.

Caesar especially portrayed the Aria as a very powerful race and there was even a story that he received a lot of help from the Aria when establishing the Kingdom of Cronus.

So if you had told Caesar that the Zunians were now living in a protected area without their own territory he would never have believed you.

With a slightly complicated mind Zeke walked past the giant statue carved into the wall and found the entrance inside.

As expected the stone wall was carved to resemble a giant entrance.

It looked like a temple built by the ancient Join people.

Zeke used his stealth skill to hide his presence and entered while keeping a close eye on his surroundings.

    ‘What’s that smell?’

As soon as I entered the entrance a foul smell assaulted my nose.

It was a stench as bad as the smell of the monsters rotting away.

Zig held his breath and went further into the dungeon.

    That was when.

    Krrrr!

Two monsters walked out from inside.

Zeke hid his body and watched the monsters.

It was almost identical in appearance and clothing to the monster I had seen before.

‘The hypothesis that those monsters were created by the Empire is becoming more and more true.’

The Empire conducted human experiments in secret laboratories in the South.

It was highly likely that the intention was to conduct experiments to turn humans infected with the red flower disease into monsters and to test the monsters’ powers in the Join ghetto.

‘It would be terrifying if that monster were to become a weapon of war.’

One thing that was puzzling was that in the future where Zeke was when the Continental War broke out he never saw such monsters on the battlefield.

However it is too early to draw any conclusions as the experiment may have failed or may have been deployed only in unnoticed battlefields.

Zeke passed the monsters and went further inside.

At that moment a message appeared before Zeke’s eyes.

[A presence eroded by magic has been detected.]

‘Eroded by magic. Are you talking about the devil?’

Zeke slowly moved his body towards the direction the system was pointing.

But what was there was neither a demon nor a monster.

A knight wearing black armor all over his body was guarding the door.

    ‘A knight eroded by magic?’

Zeke thought back to Cain whom he had fought in the Southern Dungeon.

He too was tainted by magic and was neither human nor demonic but he was different from monsters and looked like a human on the outside.

    ‘Should I call you Mine?’

Zig looked into the mine which was wearing black armor with his eyes wide open.

At first glance it didn’t seem to be much different from a regular article.

But when I looked closely there was something clearly different.

‘Heart? It feels like there’s something stuck to my heart.’

I could see something like tree roots tangled around my heart.

No matter how I looked at it it didn’t look like a normal body organ.

‘Could it be that you strengthened your body with black magic?’

I’ve heard that such taboo techniques were popular a long time ago but they’ve almost disappeared now.

There was no reason to use forbidden techniques because the abilities gained were too small compared to the danger.

Zeke tried to look inside the door guarded by Mine with his eyes wide open.

But even with the dragon’s eyes it was impossible to see inside the door.

    ‘I need to check what’s inside there…’

This door was guarded by a mine so I had to find another way.

Zeke turned on the map and moved towards another detour.

The inside of the dungeon was complex like a maze with paths branching out in many directions.

If there had been no map it was clear that Zeke would have gotten lost too.

As Zeke looked closely at the map he found a staircase leading down to the basement.

‘Okay. If we go this way there’ll be something.’

If we could find evidence related to Abel or the Empire it would be another trump card following the evidence of the Republic of Dorta.

    Zeke slowly descended the stairs.

The stairs carved into the stone wall still retain their sturdiness despite the passage of time.

As Zeke descended the stone steps and arrived at the dungeon’s basement a maze-like path branching out again appeared before him.

‘This is the first time I’ve seen a dungeon this long and complicated.’

Looking to the side the wall was lined with carvings that looked like they had been carved by the Join people long ago.

It was not just a simple drawing but a record with connected content.

‘You carved each and every picture into that solid wall.’

This was a passage that showed that the power of the ancient Join tribe had flourished.

Zeke examined the carvings on the wall.

I couldn’t tell exactly what it was about but it seemed to be a story about a large-scale war.

‘War. Was there a big war before Bahamut?’

As Zeke was looking through the pictures he noticed something strange.

Not only the Zun and the humans but all races were joining forces and fighting the war.

    ‘Who are you fighting with?’

Zeke scanned the wall to see who they were fighting.

After wandering around for a while Zeke was finally able to find who he was fighting.

But surprisingly there was only one person fighting against this large force.

A mysterious being wearing a robe and floating in the air looking down on the Allied Forces.

    ‘What the heck is this?’

It was something that didn’t fit with any history Zeke knew.

Even in the era of Cronus as seen in the records of Caesar such a story had never been seen.

Zig who was looking at the fragments spoke to the system.

‘System. Can you write down the picture on the wall here?’

[Checking available features at the administrator’s request.]

[It is possible to scan and save the contents using the skill Yongan and wide-range buff skills.]

[You can create a new folder in the inherited security vault and save it.]

    ‘Then save the contents.’

    [Please specify a folder name.]

‘Folder name? What is that? Anything will do.’

[Save the contents to a new folder called ‘Anything’.]

For a moment light burst out from Zeke’s left eye and swept across the fragments.

Surprisingly the content of the fragment was saved as it was according to his gaze.

[Saving completed. You can check the saved contents in the security vault whenever you want.]

Zig nodded with satisfaction as he looked at the fragmented records floating before his eyes.

‘I guess I’ll have to take my time and find out what it’s about.’

    That was when.

    Krrrr!

When Zeke turned around at the sound he saw three monsters approaching him.
