    Episode 106

At Zeke’s words the atmosphere in the conference room suddenly became cold.

Because to anyone who looked at it it sounded like it was referring to the imperial garrison.

But Morgan was an experienced knight.

He relaxed his stiff expression and spoke with a good-natured smile.

“Poohaha! You got a hit. Good. Sir Zeke Draker was Princess Melissa’s secret card.”

Morgan returned to his seat in the conference room.

Zeke also took a seat next to Princess Melissa.

    Morgan said to Princess Melissa.

“To finish what we were talking about earlier… Since Alencia lacks the ability to manage the Zun ghetto region the Empire will take care of it for her.”

Melissa’s expression hardened after hearing Morgan’s words.

Morgan was smiling as he spoke but it was clearly an insult.

Princess Melissa returned to her calm expression and said.

“There are two things wrong with what you said Commander.”

    “Huh what is that?”

“First of all Alencia does not govern the Zionist ghetto area. It is the land where the Zionist have lived for 500 years. Alencia respects their territory.”

    Melissa continued looking at Morgan.

“Secondly even if Alencia lacks administrative capabilities it is a separate matter for the Empire to exercise its rights in this regard. Furthermore I would like to remind you once again that illegally stationing troops in the border area of Alencia is a violation of the Central Continent Treaty.”

Morgan chuckled at Melissa’s words which brought up the point.

It was a mockery that only those with the luxury of being a great power could create.

    He said looking at Melissa.

“It seems you have misunderstood what I said. The Empire respects the territory of the Choin tribe. The reason we need to manage it is not for any other reason but to protect the Choin tribe. His Majesty the Emperor who is concerned about the Choin tribe’s dwindling population personally issued the order.”

Melissa clenched her teeth at Morgan’s sly words.

As expected of a knight of the Ophiuchus constellation he had an extraordinary tongue-twister technique.

Zeke who was standing next to Melissa felt something strange as he listened to Morgan’s words.

‘Why are you going to such great lengths to take over the territory of the Join tribe?’

Although I was well aware of the Roman Empire Emperor’s policy of territorial expansion it was an irrational decision to create conflict with Alencia in many ways.

The Join tribe ghetto was a wasteland as useless as the desert area south of the central continent.

The endless canyons and red sandstone walls were beautiful to look at but not suitable for human habitation.

‘Even so the reason they’re targeting that place must be because there’s something that isn’t apparent on the outside.’

The reasons for doing this in the Empire were mostly the same.

‘Ancient ruins… Looks like there’s an important dungeon in the Join tribe ghetto.’

Emperor Rom who dreams of immortality has been digging up dungeons hidden throughout the continent.

If it was a dungeon that existed in the territory of the Join tribe who had inherited mysterious abilities since ancient times then it would be something the emperor would covet.

Zeke slowly opened his mouth to Morgan who was refuting Melissa’s argument with various sophistry.

    “Sir Buffon.”

Morgan turned his head and looked at Zeke.

“Do you have anything to say?”

“If we keep talking I think we’ll just end up going around in circles.”

    Morgan smiled at Zeke’s words.

“I agree with what Sir Zeke said.”

“There are traditional ways to quickly resolve inconclusive arguments.”

Morgan’s eyebrows quirked at those words.

“Are you talking about a duel?”

“Isn’t this a traditional method that has been passed down since the days of the Holy Empire?”

Morgan tilted his head at those words.

‘Why is that Drake guy doing that?’

Anyone could see that the situation was more advantageous for the Empire.

Still the reason he brought up the topic of a duel is probably because he was confident enough.

Morgan spoke to Zeke as if floating.

“Are you talking about the traditional duel style… the battle between great warriors?”

“Yes. Three from the Alencia side three from the Empire side. Let the winner continue.”

    Morgan chuckled at Zeke’s words.

‘It looks like Zeke Draker himself is going to fight the duel.’

It was a typical behavior seen in young children who had just been knighted.

Young knights who didn’t know how high the sky was in the new world and thought they were the strongest often made this mistake.

There Zick Draker was the winner of the Draker Martial Arts Tournament so it was obvious that his confidence was sky-high.

‘Even so it’s still a baby.’

    Morgan nodded and answered.

“Okay the traditional way is always the best answer.”

With Morgan’s consent it was decided to end the dispute with a duel between the great warriors.

As they prepared for the arena Melissa spoke to Zeke in a worried voice.

“Will Sir Zeke really be okay against the knights of the Empire?”

The knights of the Empire are known for being tough and strong.

This was because there were many knights who had sufficient combat experience from having fought in so many wars.

Comparatively the knights of Alencia may have had high swordsmanship skills but they lacked practical experience.

    “Zeke said reassuring Melissa.

“You don’t have to worry. I will protect your honor Princess.”

It was something that Zeek said without thinking but Melissa’s heart pounded for a moment.

Because it was a line often used in storybooks when a knight confesses his feelings to a princess.

But when he saw Princess Melissa blush slightly and turn her head away Zeke perceived the emotions contained within her in a completely different way.

‘Are you angry because I decided to fight the great warriors on my own?’

Since Zeke had made the decision unilaterally without prior consultation Melissa thought it was understandable.

But the duel had already been decided.

Seeing Princess Melissa Zeke thought that he should take responsibility for his actions by doing his best to defeat the knights of the empire.

    * * *

    thud!

For the duel of the great warriors the knights of the empire also appeared in the arena wearing full plate armor.

The same was true for Zeke and the other Alencia knights.

Morgan the commander of the legion did not participate in the duel but sent the most skilled knights under his command to participate.

    Morgan said to Zeke.

    “Will Sir Zeke himself participate?”

    Zeke nodded.

Morgan perhaps convinced that his guess was correct climbed into the stands with a sinister smile.

Melissa also sat in the audience with an anxious expression.

First one of the Alencia knights stepped forward.

Zeke sat in the waiting room and watched the imperial knights fighting against the knight of Alencia.

‘It looks like you’re at least a Blue Knight.’

Morgan one of the thirteen knights of the zodiac was a blue knight but his skills were relatively low compared to his rank.

Although he was originally a man of superior wisdom than brute force he was no pushover as he was the commander of the Knights of the Sakyonggae Legion one of the 13 legions of the Empire.

However perhaps out of concern for the commander’s reputation Morgan himself did not participate in the duel.

It seemed that the knights of Alencia thought that they could easily defeat them with just their knights.

‘That arrogant carelessness will catch you off guard.’

The duel began immediately and the Imperial knight immediately pushed the Alencia knight back.

    Boom!

The Empire’s swordsmanship specialized in shield swordsmanship.

Because it was a traditional swordsmanship that had been passed down since the days of the Holy Empire and was modified to suit the Aura it was suitable for traditional duels.

It was understandable why Morgan seemed so confident.

    “Cough!”

The Alencia knight fell without even being able to use his strength against the imperial knight.

A second article appeared and it was the same.

As the two knights were defeated in quick succession Melissa’s face turned ashen.

Even if the last contestant Zeke lost the duel he would have to open the way for the Imperial garrison to head to the Zouin ghetto.

At first they would station soldiers under the pretext of protecting the Zouin ghetto but it was clear that they would soon gradually invade Alencia’s territory.

That was a typical Roman Empire method of territorial expansion.

Zeke entered the arena wearing his armor and holding a kite shield.

The Imperial Knight spoke as he looked at Zeke who was wearing full plate armor.

“It is an honor to duel the winner of the Draker Martial Arts Tournament.”

He said it was glorious in name only but it was clearly a mockery.

Zig closed his helmet without saying a word and took up his sword.

The knights of the empire also stood before Zeke with their weapons in hand.

As the duel began the imperial knight stepped forward first.

    “Haaap!”

The Imperial Knight swung his shield and struck Zeke’s flank.

    Boom!

A tremendous crashing sound rang out as shields clashed against shields.

The knight of the empire thought that Zeke would stagger.

But surprisingly Zeke stood there straight not shocked at all.

Rather the knight swinging his shield was so shocked by the recoil he felt.

He raised his sword and tried to bring it down on Zeke.

    Kwakwakwang!

Zeke was the first to strike the knight’s front with his shield.

The knight staggered back from the tremendous shock.

Zeke quickly stepped forward and swung his sword at the knight’s side.

    Wood crunch!

The armor dented and a cracking sound echoed from the knight’s side.

    “Ugh!”

The knight of the empire fell down groaning.

Morgan who had been watching with a smile stood up from his seat in surprise.

    He shouted at Zeke.

“Oh isn’t that an artifact? That’s foul play!”

Then Zeke opened his helmet and said.

“It’s a regular sword and shield armor not an artifact. I borrowed it from the Alencia border headquarters so please check it out.”

Morgan clenched his teeth at Zeke’s words.

It was because Zig’s skills were better than expected.

‘If I had known this would happen I should have just left saving face and all.’

However it was impossible to change the already decided warlord.

Morgan calmed down and sat back down.

The two remaining champions were veteran knights he had personally trained and fought alongside on the battlefield.

He reassured himself that the newly knighted young cub was not at a level where he could win.

    Kwakwakwang!

But the second knight was blown away by one swing of Zeke’s shield.

Morgan opened his mouth wide at the sight.

    “Uh how…?”

Even though he clearly had little experience as a knight Zeke’s shield and sword skills were outstanding.

He handled the heavy and cumbersome shield as if it were his own body.

There was nothing to say as he subdued the imperial knights who took pride in their shield fighting skills with just a shield.

Morgan spoke to Antonio the last remaining warrior with a serious expression.

    “You must never lose.”

Antonio nodded and closed his helmet.

Since Antonio was the most skilled of the three Morgan decided to trust him.

Zeke and Antonio stood facing each other in the arena.

This was the final duel as both were final warriors.

Melissa who was in the audience also watched the duel with her fists clenched.

It was Antonio who moved first.

    “Haaaah!”

As befitting an imperial knight he swung his sword with a clean and practical movement carrying his shield in front.

    Pachin!

Zeke’s sword and Antonio’s sword clashed.

Antonio was taken aback by the unbelievable weight of Zeke’s sword strike even though he was not yet an adult.

    ‘Is that a freaking monster?’

I could understand why Drake’s knights were called the strongest on the continent.

Zeke sensing that Antonio’s movements had slowed down in his panic dug into the gap.

    bang!

    Zeke’s sword struck Antonio’s shield.

Even though I was blocking it with a shield the impact dug deep into my body.

    “Ugh!”

Antonio couldn’t hold out any longer and stepped back.

He put some distance between himself and Zeke and then ran forward holding his shield with both hands to change the flow.

    Kwakwakwa!

Antonio charging forward with a heavy shield was a terrifying weapon in and of himself.

But Zeke wasn’t so easygoing that he would get hit by the charging shield.

He naturally avoided Antonio’s attacks with his welcoming technique.

Then he swung his shield towards the empty side.

    Boom!

Antonio used his incredible reflexes to raise his shield and block Zeke’s attack.

    Wood crack!

But the wrist holding the shield ended up breaking.

Antonio dropped his shield and aimed only his sword at Zeke.

    “Whew. Whoosh.”

Aura was focused on Antonio’s sword.

It is usually considered polite not to use the Aura Blade in a traditional duel but there were often cases where it was used out of respect for the sake of appearance.

And Antonio decided that now was the time.

    Woohoo!

A sharp aura blade formed on Antonio’s sword.
