    Episode 105

    Melissa asked in surprise.

“The transport unit was annihilated! What do you mean!”

The captain said with a pale face.

“They say those guys showed up again.”

    Melissa’s expression distorted.

    Zeke asked Melissa about that.

    “What is the matter Princess?”

“It seems like the monsters I told you about last time have appeared again. Last time they only touched the transport wagon but this time they wiped out the entire unit…”

If the Knights of Alencia one of the most powerful nations among the Central Kingdoms were completely destroyed then the skills of those called monsters were no ordinary thing.

‘Did the Imperial hunting dogs attack?’

    Zeke said to Melissa.

“I need to take a look at the scene. Please send me a quick soldier who is familiar with the geography of this area.”

Zeke decided to take one of the border guards Melissa had chosen along with Felix Liam to tour the site.

    Doo doo doo doo!

Zick arrived at the scene on horseback and asked the guard.

    “Is it this way?”

“Yes Sir Zik. We were attacked near that canyon.”

Zeek and his party left their horses and went down the valley.

Looking around the terrain was rough and the roads were narrow making it vulnerable to attack.

“This is the perfect place to raid. Is there a reason you chose this route for your transport?”

The guard said with a cold sweat at Zeke’s words.

“It’s much faster to go this way. If you take the detour instead of the canyon it will take at least two more days.”

Zig nodded after hearing the guard’s words.

“Do you use this canyon road a lot when crossing the border?”

    The guard shook his head.

“No. This area is full of lawbreakers to begin with so ordinary people use the safe road. If there had been enough time the transport unit would have used the road to arrive safely.”

Because the supply of medicine was delayed there was not enough time and even though they knew that it would be vulnerable to attacks they chose the valley route.

‘I have a feeling that they somehow guided the transport unit to move this way.’

It seemed like a well-planned organized attack not just a random attack by a monster.

Zeke descended into the canyon and surveyed the scene of carnage.

    “Ugh.”

Felix frowned at the sight of the horrific scene.

Zeke saw the scene and understood why Melissa had described them as monsters.

There were more corpses that had their limbs torn off as if they were being crushed rather than those that had been killed by swords.

Jik approached the corpse which was horrifying to look at and examined it closely.

Zeke carefully examined the cut surface of the body to determine how the wounds were inflicted.

‘Something feels strange. It’s not a normal wound. It feels like I was hit by a monster.’

It didn’t seem like a monster had attacked.

If a monster had done that there would have clearly been marks on the corpse from being eaten.

‘If you tore a person apart in one go with a force stronger than an ogre would this be what would happen?’

Zeke became increasingly curious about the true identity of the monsters.

He surveyed the surrounding scene with his eyes wide open.

As the area expanded beyond what the human eye could see traces left behind by monsters could be found.

To his surprise Zeke discovered that the trail led up the steep cliffs of the canyon.

    Zeke asked the guard.

    “What’s up there?”

The guard said checking the position.

“That road over there leads to the Zionist ghetto.”

Zeke grabbed the guard’s scruff and lifted himself up following the trail as if flying up the cliff.

Felix and Liam quickly followed Zeke up the canyon wall.

“Master Ma. Please say something before you leave…”

Zeke ignored Felix’s words as he barely managed to catch up and continued to examine the remaining traces.

“Is this direction also towards the ghetto?”

    The guard nodded.

“Understood. Liam Felix follow me and I’ll be going back.”

There was a minimap on the way there and it didn’t seem like the guards would be of much help so there was no need to carry one.

Zeke took Felix and Liam and followed the monsters’ trail to the Joiner ghetto area.

    That was when.

    [Traces of polluted air found.]

    ‘Contaminated air?’

Zeke knew that the polluted energy the system spoke of was magic.

I couldn’t figure out why the magic energy that usually comes from demons appeared in the middle of the Central Continent.

The puzzled Zigg remembered that Cain who had previously possessed the ancient Herzion was also tainted by magic.

‘It might have something to do with the monsters that attacked the transport unit.’

Zeke turned and followed the trail of polluted air.

As we entered inside the red sandstone walls rose like spires.

Traces of the ancient Join people remained here and there inside the sandstone walls.

There was a traditional house style of the Join people who lived by carving houses out of stones and building them in caves or crevices inside the valley walls.

    That was when.

    Zeke’s senses sensed something strange.

“Liam Felix. Be aware of your surroundings.”

Liam and Felix pulled out their weapons.

Suddenly something burst out from inside the cave in the sandstone wall.

A giant man wearing suspicious clothing swung a huge iron club at Zeke and his group.

    bang!

The spot where the iron club struck went deep and the red sand flew up like dust.

    Krrrrrr.

Although it had a human shape it was difficult to see it as a person.

It was over two meters tall and had a huge build looking more like an ogre than a human.

He wore a white mask with holes for the eyes on his face and his body was covered in rough leather clothes covered with thick iron plates.

At first glance they looked like Barbarians but their clothing was completely different.

    Krrrrrr.

The monster who looked more like a beast than a human picked up the iron club again and swung it fiercely.

Zeke held Bahamut and ran towards the monster.

    bang!

The monster’s club clashed with Bahamut.

Even though it collided with Zig’s sword which contained the power of gold the monster’s club remained intact.

It was a power that far surpassed human strength.

    “Kuaaaah!”

The monster screamed when Zeke was not crushed by his cudgel.

Then he swung his club wildly at Zeke.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

It was a club that was swung haphazardly but the power and weight contained in it were so great that it would be difficult for ordinary knights to withstand it.

Zig who had some idea of the monster’s power deflected the club with his sword.

    Boom!

The monster looked at Zeke in confusion as the club he swung returned without making a hit.

Within moments an aura blade shot out from Zeke’s sword.

    Woohoo!

Zeke swung his sword at the monster’s club.

    Crunch!

The solid block of iron was cut apart by Zig’s sword strike.

The monster instinctively cowered in fear at the unusual energy he felt from Zeke’s body.

    “Ugh.”

The monster tried to step back without realizing it.

    But then something strange happened.

    “Krrrrr!”

The monster’s body swelled and his muscles became thicker.

    “Kwaaah!”

The eyes visible behind the mask were bloodshot.

The monster whose eyes had changed to resemble those of a demon rushed toward Zeke.

    “Kaaaah!”

The monster slammed his palm like a pot lid at Zeke.

    Kwakwakwang!

The ground where the palm of my hand struck dented.

After that the monster continued to swing his fists at Zeke indiscriminately.

Zeke who dodged the fist with a welcome gesture swung his sword and struck the monster’s side with the blade.

    Wood crack!

As Zeke’s sword imbued with the power of gold struck his side a sound of bones breaking was heard.

But surprisingly the monster got up as if nothing had happened and ran towards Zeke again.

‘What? Could it be that this guy also has abilities like Healing Factor?’

Zeke experimentally cut the monster’s arm with his sword.

But unlike Zeke his wounds did not heal or anything.

Only then did Zeke realize what the monster’s condition was.

‘It’s not that I’m recovering but I’m in a berserker state so I can’t feel pain. What a headache.’

Perhaps this monster was an imperial experiment.

Zeke decided to capture this monster for evidence.

He took Agamemnon’s mask out of his inventory.

Zig holding the golden mask used his purification skill to apply a wide range of buffs to the monster.

    Woohoo!

The light of purification seeped into the monster.

    “Kwaaah!”

The monster was in agony and tried to avoid the light of purification.

    “Liam! Felix!”

Liam and Felix who immediately understood the situation at Zeke’s call blocked the monster’s retreat.

The purifying light emitted by Zeke seeped into the monster again.

    “Eeeeeeeeeee!”

The monster began to tremble all over and something began to pour out of the mask.

The monster who had been spewing black liquid from his eyes ears and nose soon collapsed on the floor his whole body twisting.

Then all of a sudden my whole body began to rapidly shrink like a leather pouch from which the air had leaked out.

The body that looked like an ogre soon transformed into a skinny body with exposed bones.

Zeke approached with a frown and examined the monster.

The monster had already lost his breath.

“Keep a good watch. I’ll go and look around the cave.”

Leaving Liam and Felix behind Zeke went into the cave where the monster had appeared alone.

Not long after entering the cave Zeke turned his head away for a moment at the strong stench coming from inside.

    ‘What is that smell?’

As we went further inside surprisingly we found traces of a stolen transport wagon.

Zeke quickly looked inside the carriage but all the medicines were already broken.

When Zeke saw that he wondered if the terrible stench was the smell of rotting medicine but the smell was too strong for that to be the case.

This time Zeke looked around the carriage instead of inside it and discovered something sticky scattered around the carriage.

When I looked at the floor with my eyes closed I saw a terrible sight.

    ‘This is….’

There were traces of the monsters’ melted flesh and bones and the stench was the smell of them rotting on the floor.

The other monsters were already dead and it seemed like only the monster from before survived.

Zeke searched the cave for signs of combat but found nothing of note.

All that remained were traces of the agony and writhing inside the cave.

Zeke sealed the traces of the melted monsters on the floor in an empty potion bottle and left the cave.

Then Felix and Liam looked at Zeke and shouted.

    “Master Ma! Look at this!”

Parts of the dead monster’s body were decaying and rotting.

The parts that Zeke purified did not rot but the arms and legs that he had not purified seemed to have rotted.

‘It seems like the monsters’ bodies can’t withstand the magic and are melting away.’

Zeke felt the need to take the body and examine it so he sent Felix and Liam to retrieve it and bring it back.

After passing through the valley and arriving at the horse’s place Zeke and his party led the horse and moved back towards the border headquarters.

But when we arrived at the border headquarters the atmosphere was a bit chaotic.

Zeke grabbed the guard standing at the entrance and asked him whether he had been waiting for the group.

    “What’s going on?”

He said with a stern expression.

“Sir Zeke are you here? It’s none other than the Empire who has brought knights to the headquarters.”

“Are you saying that you are from the Empire?”

The knight shook his head and said.

“The commander of the Border Garrison Corps has come in person.”

There is a big difference between a messenger coming and a knight coming in person.

Usually the presence of the knights in person was tantamount to a powerful demonstration of force.

Zeke told Felix and Liam to leave the body there then asked the guards and went up to where Melissa was.

When I entered the conference room not only Melissa but also a knight in imperial attire was sitting there.

Zeke checked the face of the Imperial knight and hardened his face.

    ‘That guy…’

He was one of the people I had a bad relationship with in my previous life.

Morgan Buffon a knight of the Sagittarius sign one of the thirteen zodiac signs of the Empire.

Even though he was still young his bald forehead looked similar to when I saw him in his previous life.

    “Sir Zeke Draker.”

Morgan noticed Zeke entering the conference room and approached him with a friendly smile.

He took Zeke’s hand and said.

“It is an honor to meet the most famous genius on the continent here.”

It was Morgan who welcomed Zeke with an exaggerated tone.

“It’s nice to meet you Sir Morgan.”

Morgan was very happy that Zeke recognized him.

    Morgan smiled and asked Zeke.

“But what brings Sir Zeke the knight of Draker all the way to Alencia?”

It was Morgan who shamelessly asked questions even though he was not the owner.

Zeke said as he looked at Morgan like that.

“I heard there are thieves who keep climbing over the fence of houses where the owners live so I came to catch them.”
