585 (Part 2)
”’How can I feel such killing intent?
How can such energy emanate from a human?
‘I’ve never felt this… even from Captain!’
Bang-!
“Guh-ack!”
In an instant a fist was thrust into the mouth of the masked righteousness.
It was a punch swung by Gu Yang-cheon.
Thud-thud-! All the teeth spilled out along with blood.
He crushed all the teeth to prevent him from biting his tongue.
Unable to hold back a scream erupted.
It didn’t matter.
He had already been silenced.
Looking at the trembling figure drenched in blood Gu Yang-cheon spoke.
“I was just trying to make it easy for you. Why do you have to talk like that? It makes me feel like crap.”
His tone was completely different from before.
Gu Yang-cheon’s hand moved.
It was just a fleeting moment.
Thud-!
A short sound came from the masked righteousness’s abdomen.
What was that sound?
The masked man had a fleeting question but soon realized.
It was the sound of the qi center breaking.
As the sound echoed pain surged through him.
It was excruciating.
But he couldn’t scream.

Because Gu Yang-cheon had already covered the masked righteousness’s mouth.
“Ughhh!”
“Don’t bark. It’s annoying.”
The gathered qi center’s energy dispersed in an instant.
The qi he had accumulated for a lifetime vanished leaving a void.
“Guh… ugh…!”
In just a few seconds the martial artist’s body had turned from that of an ordinary person…
No it had become even worse than that.
The masked righteousness’s eyes shook wildly.
Only then did the strength leave the hand that was covering his mouth.
“This… this devil…!”
He shouted with rage.
His pronunciation was slurred lacking any teeth but his emotions were clear.
However Gu Yang-cheon’s expression showed no change.
He simply continued to watch.
Seeing this the masked man shouted again.
“Rather…! Just kill me! Even if you come at me like this…! Do you think I’ll talk—”
“Don’t.”
“…!”
“Don’t say anything. I’m not curious anymore.”
What could that possibly mean?
At that moment confusion crossed the masked man’s mind.
“From now on no matter what you say I won’t listen.”
“What the….”
“So please don’t say a word. Got it?”
Crack-!
“Guh!”
His throat was grabbed.
“From now on whatever happens to you don’t say anything. I’m not curious. Remember that.”
“Guhhh.”
Fear was about to drive him insane.
Flames erupted from Gu Yang-cheon’s back.
Blue flames.
They looked exceptionally beautiful but the masked man could feel the killing intent contained within the flames.
‘Why.’
Why did the atmosphere suddenly change like this?
The trembling masked man soon recalled a thought that flashed through his mind.

[The lowly woman next to you… will be included as well.]
[Who’s lowly?]
That moment was clearly the turning point.
The moment Gu Yang-cheon’s eyes filled with annoyance and boredom changed.
‘Could it be….’
Was he really this furious just because someone insulted a woman?
He tried hard to convince himself it wasn’t true but no other reason seemed plausible.
No.
Even if there was some reason it wouldn’t matter now.
The flames that had risen surrounded the area creating a wall.
“Don’t…!”
Before long the sky that had been faintly visible was engulfed by the flames and disappeared.
And then.
When the flames vanished and revealed themselves again.
What remained was the charred remnants of something.
And Gu Yang-cheon wiping his hands on his clothes with a displeased expression.
**********
Cleaning up the traces wasn’t that difficult.
There were hardly any traces left to begin with.
Hiding his uncomfortable feelings he returned to the alley.
In the alley Dang So-yeol was still waiting for me.
“Ah Young Master.”
As I cautiously entered the alley Dang So-yeol greeted me.
Seeing that I asked.
“What about her?”
I was asking about Mo Yong-hia who was nowhere to be seen.
“Um she said it was a priority to take the Miss to the Trading Company so she went ahead.”
“Okay.”
I had already told her to go ahead so it seemed she had listened well.
“What happened?”
This time Dang So-yeol asked me.
She was asking how it went with the chase….
I slightly avoided Dang So-yeol’s gaze and replied.
“She didn’t say much so I cleaned it up appropriately.”
I mixed a bit of truth into my answer.
I had burned everything without leaving a trace.
Even saying that I killed her while trying various things was too much.
Saying I didn’t kill her would be an unnecessary lie so I spoke honestly about that.
“Ah I see.”
Fortunately Dang So-yeol didn’t seem to mind what I said.
“Hmm. I needed to gather information…”
She seemed rather disappointed.
“Next time I’ll go Young Master. I can handle that kind of thing now!”
“…Uh sure.”
What does that even mean…?
I wanted to ask the bright-eyed Dang So-yeol but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
What on earth did that guy the Demon King teach her?
What did he do to make her like this?
It was good that she had become stronger but was this really a positive direction?
A sudden doubt crossed my mind.
“By the way….”
I shifted my gaze to look in another direction.
It was the direction where Seong-yul was standing with a sword.
“What’s that?”
I asked Seong-yul about the changed scene.
It had been an ordinary alleyway just moments ago.
But now a person was lying there.
‘Already dead?’
In fact he was dead.
At first I wondered if Seong-yul had killed him but looking at the state it seemed some time had passed.
Moreover.
“I’ve seen that face somewhere before?”
The corpse was that of a middle-aged man.
It was a face I felt I had seen somewhere.
Who was it?
I couldn’t quite remember.
Looking at the corpse I asked Seong-yul.
“What is this?”
“There were formations.”
Seong-yul’s answer made me tilt my head.
“Formations?”
Did he say there were formations in this alley? Hearing that made me feel strange.
‘Was what that guy was looking at formations?’
I had wondered what he was looking at and it turned out he was looking at the formations set up here?
If that was the case it made some sense.
‘If it’s not me or the young lady he’s targeting… then it must be this.’
Moreover even at my level it was difficult to grasp the formations.
If they were that intricate I could understand.
It was also a mystery why such formations were used to hide a corpse.
“How did you discover this?”
Seong-yul had sensed formations that I couldn’t even feel.
I was a bit curious about how he had dismantled such intricate formations so I asked.
Seong-yul replied calmly.
“I felt something so I cut it.”
“…”
“And then it unraveled.”
Seong-yul spoke as if there was nothing wrong with that.
Hearing this made me think.
…What should I say? It was a response I had heard somewhere before.
******************
Soon after I returned directly to the Trading Company.
For reference I left the corpse behind.
It was clear that reporting it there would only lead to being caught by the authorities and interrogated.
I could escape but I didn’t want to get involved in such matters so I just erased the traces and left.
Of course I had instructed some people to keep watch so if anything happened I would be contacted separately.
I hoped that today’s events wouldn’t lead to any unnecessary incidents.
‘It seems something is about to happen.’
It was certain that something was brewing in Henan.
It wasn’t the first time something had happened so it wasn’t anything special.
What mattered was.
‘How will it affect me?’
No matter what happened how the situation unfolded was crucial.
If it seemed likely to have a negative impact I would crush it.
If it would be helpful I would let it be.
To do that ultimately.
‘I need to find out what’s going on.’
I felt I needed to quickly grasp the unfolding situation.
That way it would be easier to respond.
With this there were more than a few things I needed to investigate.
It meant that annoying and frustrating matters were piling up all at once.
Of course there was the matter of the new Demon King and the Heavenly Demon’s affairs as well.
The issues with the Murim Alliance were the same.
Perhaps it was because they were trying to tackle something too big for their subject.
There were already layers of annoying matters stacking up.
Yeah it was a busy time.
“Excuse me.”
The young lady of the Ice Palace sitting in front of me spoke.
“Would it be alright if I married you?”
Hearing that I blurted out immediately.
“What the hell is this crazy girl saying?”
I couldn’t hold it in.”’
