580 (Part 2)
So it was.
Even though the Heavenly Demon had already approached I couldn’t react.
‘What the…!’
Before I knew it the Heavenly Demon was right next to me.
As I finally reacted in a hurry and tried to move my body.
Crack-!
I felt the Heavenly Demon grip my arm.
“…!”
I couldn’t shake off his hold.
The pressure was strong.
To break free I would have to unleash a burst of energy.
My head turned.
In the meantime the Heavenly Demon wasn’t looking at me.
Just as I wondered where he was looking.
“Please calculate.”
The Heavenly Demon said with an indifferent expression.
At that moment an old woman appeared.
“Did you enjoy your meal?”
“Yes.”
“Oh my the thin girl ate a lot.”
The old woman smiled as if pleased at the stacked dishes.
Seeing that the Heavenly Demon handed something to the old woman. It was money.
The old woman widened her eyes upon seeing it.
“Oh dear. I don’t have anything to give you as change…”
It was an amount that could not be earned even if she sold noodles all day let alone ten bowls.

The old woman was flustered but the Heavenly Demon seemed unconcerned.
“Keep the change.”
Saying that he bowed his head to the old woman.
Watching that I had to take a deep breath.
It was unthinkable for the Heavenly Demon to bow to someone.
“It was delicious. I’ll come again next time.”
As the Heavenly Demon was about to leave the old woman tried to say something.
But the Heavenly Demon took me whose wrist he had grabbed and left the shop.
As soon as we stepped outside I immediately shook off the Heavenly Demon’s hand.
Snap-!
I didn’t need to use much strength.
The Heavenly Demon wasn’t holding on tightly anymore.
As I shook off his hand the Heavenly Demon looked at his empty hand and tilted his head.
I stared at him with a twisted expression.
Holding back emotions that felt like they were about to explode I asked the Heavenly Demon.
“…Why. Are you here?”
No matter how much I tried to hold it back my fierce voice couldn’t be concealed.
This was my best effort.
Hearing this the Heavenly Demon stared at me quietly.
And then he answered.
“I came to eat…?”
After hearing his answer I gritted my teeth.
“Stop talking nonsense what’s your real intention…!”
Was he trying to play a joke on me? It was absurd.
When I asked in disbelief the Heavenly Demon said.
“You.”
What was he going to say? In that tense moment.
“Why do you hate me?”
An unexpected question came.
“…What?”
I asked bewildered.
The Heavenly Demon looked at me with a face full of questions.
“I haven’t done anything. Why do you hate me?”
It was the most bewildering thing I had heard since my return.
Why do I hate him?
Is that even a question?
I could list several reasons for hating and loathing him right away.

I could have spat out hundreds of words.
Yet for some reason I couldn’t say anything.
‘What is this?’
Words wouldn’t come out.
It felt like something was keeping my mouth tightly shut.
What was I hesitating for?
Was it because I was afraid of the Heavenly Demon?
That’s right. I was afraid.
I was terrified of that being who had tried to take everything from me and burn the world.
But that shouldn’t be the reason my mouth was sealed.
Then what was the problem?
I chewed on my innocent tongue trying to spit out words but it was still impossible.
Time passed.
If I couldn’t place a sword on my tongue I should at least place it on my fingertips.
But I couldn’t do that either.
I could only stare at the Heavenly Demon with my blocked mouth.
“…”
After a few seconds of meeting his purple eyes.
Unable to say anything the Heavenly Demon turned his head and gestured for me to follow.
As I turned my head it was the shop we had just exited.
“Here it’s delicious. It’s my favorite place.”
I heard his voice.
“You should try it too.”
I thought it was a trivial remark.
So I turned my head back to look at the Heavenly Demon.
“…Damn it.”
Maybe it was a mistake to give him a moment.
The Heavenly Demon was already gone from that spot.
I tasted blood on my tongue.
At the same time I had to wipe my face with my dry hand.
It was a fact I had known all along.
But now I felt it clearly.
Unlike what I had known something was twisted and it was twisted beyond measure.
******************
I stepped out of the shop and walked lightly.
It didn’t take many steps to move forward.
If a woman wanted to go somewhere she could go anywhere.
A place with few people.
A small dwelling built somewhere between the current and the outside.
It was a place rented cheaply due to its cramped location.
For a woman it was just a story that was hard to understand even if she heard it.
“Oh you’re here?”
When I arrived at the dwelling someone welcomed me.
It was the person the woman called ‘Unnie.’
“Yeah.”
“You said you were coming back from eating but you’re a bit late?”
“Yeah.”
I replied with a blank expression.
The other person was already accustomed to such responses.
“Okay as long as you enjoyed your meal.”
As she spoke she extended her hand. The woman tilted her head at this.
“The money left over from eating.”
“I don’t have any.”
“…What?”
At the woman’s words ‘Unnie’ paused.
She was sure she had given me money so why was I saying there was none left?
When I expressed my confusion the woman calmly replied.
“I did exactly what you did last time Unnie.”
“…What do you mean by that…?”
“I don’t need the change.”
“…”
At the woman’s words Unnie furrowed her brows.
Yes she had indeed said something like that before.
“That’s… um… haah….”
I tried to say something but held back.
Who could I blame?
It was my fault for giving that simpleton money and sending her on an errand.
It was fine. I still had enough travel expenses.
If worse came to worst I planned to rely on my mother who was somewhere around here.
“…It’s fine. So did you have a good time?”
“Yeah. It was delicious.”
As the woman said this with satisfaction Unnie smiled.
“Good I’m glad.”
Then she asked a question.
“I told you to go because you said there was something you wanted to eat. When did you come here?”
At Unnie’s question the woman shook her head.
“It’s my first time.”
“Hmm?”
“It’s my first time.”
The woman’s answer that it was her first time in Henan’s current made Unnie make a strange expression.
“But you said there was a place you wanted to go?”
“Yeah.”
“…What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t know.”
She looked as if she didn’t understand what she had just said.
“But I wanted to go.”
“…”
An answer that didn’t make any sense Unnie looked at her and finally nodded.
She had given up on understanding.
It was always like this and this time was no different.
“…Anyway as long as you had fun that’s what matters.”
“Yeah.”
The woman nodded and moved her body.
Seeing that Unnie called out to her.
“Oh right Yeon-ah.”
“…”
At those words the woman stopped walking and looked at Unnie.
However unlike before her expression seemed a bit twisted as if she didn’t like something.
“…Don’t call me that.”
It seemed she didn’t like the way she was being addressed.
“I’m not Yeon.”
That was a firm answer.
“Then what is it?”
Unnie asked back.
“…”
The woman seemed to have no particular answer merely chewing her lips.
Seeing that Unnie smiled.
“Why do you keep denying it when you don’t even have a name to say?”
“…Anyway… that’s not it. I’m leaving.”
The woman replied curtly and left the place.
It seemed she was sulking.
Regarding her attitude.
“I really don’t know why she’s like that.”
Unnie no. The dark-haired woman Gu Hee-bi expressed her doubts.
