Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 575 (Part 2)

575 (Part 2)
“[Since both had nowhere to go Shin-ui asked Captain Baekhwa for help. Thus a place to stay was arranged.]
I had to think of all sorts of things upon hearing that.
‘So Mrs. Mi knew that those two were staying here.’
It also meant that she deliberately sent them here knowing that.
In other words.
It meant I had to spend the next three months here.
While it was possible to find a separate place if I didn’t like it.
‘…Would this person let that happen?’
The problem was with the Master.
Staying with Shin-ui was actually a positive aspect since I could receive treatment.
However staying with the Master posed several issues.
‘I was thinking of taking a little break this time. But this ruins everything.’
For the past few years I had been holed up in the sect training so I was planning to handle my schedule while taking a break this time.
Even aside from that I had sustained internal injuries so I thought I should take a moment to rest while receiving treatment.
But with the Master around that became impossible.
‘He wouldn’t let me off just because I was injured.’
Do you know what’s terrifying about the Master?
If I said I couldn’t do something because I was in pain.
He would find a way to make me train in that painful state.
Even if I said there was no training available.
‘He would create something just to make me use it.’
He would bring something new into existence just to make me use it.
‘Damn it.’
I wanted to sigh but I had to endure.
I didn’t know what would happen if I sighed in front of him.

As I continued to face the Master I felt the gazes of Dang So-yeol and Seong-yul watching from behind.
At that moment I thought I should show some reaction in another way.
“Let’s save the greetings for later. First it would be best to unpack your things.”
The Master said to me with a smile.
“During this time Mr. Gu why don’t you come with me somewhere?”
“Excuse me? I don’t want to.”
My instinctive refusal made the Master’s eyebrows twitch.
Oh no. I did it without realizing it.
“…Well shouldn’t I unpack my things too?”
“It seems like you have the least amount of luggage.”
“…”
I had no rebuttal.
The Master’s words were correct.
My already minimal luggage was being carried by Seong-yul.
‘Damn it.’
I never thought this would become a problem.
Just when I was wondering if there was any way out.
[Anyway it will take a while for Shin-ui to wake up. Just follow me quietly.]
“…”
In the end I had no choice but to nod at the Master’s gentle yet threatening tone.
******************
The street came alive at night.
As the sun set brighter lights filled the street.
Moreover no matter how late it got the number of people filling the street continued to increase.
It was truly a complicated street.
Amidst such a street I was strolling with a skewer in hand.
“Have you been well?”
The Master who was walking beside me with food asked.
“Yes… well.”
I answered briefly to his inquiry and the Master chuckled.
“Anyone can see that you haven’t been well. Your response is quite easy.”
“…”
“Did you go out and get beaten up somewhere?”
“…I wasn’t exactly beaten up.”
As I spat out an excuse the Master immediately replied.
“Then it means you foolishly couldn’t control your strength.”
“…”

“Did it hurt?”
He asked without even looking at me.
I had nothing to deny.
“…Yes.”
I confirmed that I had used the Tua Pa Cheon Mu technique.
Hearing this the Master nodded.
“It seems you were lucky not to have used the next one.”
I awkwardly smiled at the Master’s words.
Did he realize that I hadn’t used the Sam-sik and Sa-sik techniques?
“…It wasn’t exactly a situation to use them.”
“Mm.”
After hearing my answer the Master’s head turned toward me.
“So your body has ended up like this.”
“…”
I hadn’t used any techniques since the transplant yet I had sustained internal injuries.
Upon hearing this I could hear the Master clicking his tongue in disapproval.
“As I said before I won’t interfere with whatever you do as long as you learn my martial arts.”
“I remember.”
It was my choice how to use the Tua Pa Cheon Mu technique after learning it.
The Master had indeed said that.
“As the meaning of those words suggests I won’t unnecessarily interfere with whatever you do.”
“…”
I could feel multiple meanings contained in those words.
Just how much does the Master perceive? It made people uncomfortable without them realizing it.
“Looking at your condition it seems you haven’t used ‘that.’”
At the Master’s mention I paused for a moment before answering.
“…That’s correct.”
“Well done. I repeat don’t bring it out unless you’re sure.”
I nodded at his firm warning. I knew why the Master was acting this way.
“That cannot be used unless it touches the realm of the mind. I understand your desire but you must not act hastily.”
“…Yes I understand that as well.”
Even the Master who created the violent martial art known as Tua Pa Cheon Mu warned me about its power.
It was a dangerous power.
In fact I had once experienced my insides bursting when I tried to use it in front of the Master.
However.
Even such a dangerous power.
‘I have to use it someday.’
I had to make every effort to control this as well. It was a time when I needed to use everything I could.
As I soothed that regretful thought I asked the Master this time.
“Elder.”
“Yes.”
“So what do you want to talk about?”
At my words the Master narrowed his eyes and said.
“You’re not bad at picking up on things.”
Hearing the compliment I didn’t feel particularly good.
It was only natural.
The reason we met right away was that he had something to say to me.
Moreover I judged that he was being considerate so that I wouldn’t use telepathy since I had internal injuries.
In fact as soon as we stepped outside I could feel the Master creating a barrier around us.
This was certainly an action taken with me in mind.
Additionally it also meant there were things that shouldn’t be heard by others.
‘I’ve talked a bit until now but.’
The main point still hadn’t come out.
There was no reason for it.
So what exactly was he trying to say?
‘If the Master is this concerned it must be something important.’
Could it be that he was going to directly mention the trouble I caused?
If that’s the case what excuse should I make? Or should I just answer honestly?
He had said he wouldn’t care about whatever I did.
So he probably wouldn’t be too concerned even if his disciple caused a bit of a ruckus.
Or perhaps the opposite…
‘…Would he tie my joints together and scold me for being foolish?’
That old man was certainly capable of such a thing.
In a brief moment countless thoughts crossed my mind.
I had already mapped out an escape route for any unforeseen circumstances.
It meant I was ready to bolt at a moment’s notice.
Just as I was raising my tension the Master spoke to me.
“Oh it’s nothing much.”
The Master hesitated as he spoke which was unusual for him.
I perked up my ears focusing on his words.
At that moment.
“About the duel that was held in the previous sect….”
As the Master began to speak we both turned our gazes toward a certain direction.
I sensed something annoying in the air.
I hoped it was just my imagination but seeing the Master react as well it didn’t seem to be.
And to prove it not long after.
-AAAAAHHHH-!
A loud scream echoed from afar.”
