Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 573 (Part 2)

573 (Part 2)
Tang So-yeol upon hearing the words instead smiled.
…Why?
Moreover his smile seemed a bit strange.
“Oh I see!”
He said with a bright smile.
As I looked at Tang So-yeol’s expression I realized something.
What should I say….
‘…It feels like a relief as if everything is as usual?’
Should I call it a look of relief?
Something like that.
Seeing that made me feel somewhat uneasy.
******************
Days passed.
Only a few days had gone by yet the season was shifting from spring to summer.
It was about the time when the heat began to rise little by little.
In terms of time just a few days.
In terms of seasons it was just starting to change.
However during that brief moment considerable stories were circulating in the Central Plains.
“Have you heard? The Phantom Thief has reappeared.”
For those traversing the streets of Henan it was a common topic of conversation.
“Oh you mean the story that the Phantom Thief sent a letter to the Mu-dang?”
“They say that’s a lie. The Phantom Thief disappeared ages ago. Even if he were alive he’d be an old man by now. Is he going to start stealing again?”
The legendary thief who vanished decades ago.
The Phantom Thief had reappeared and he had sent a warning to the Mu-dang.
Such rumors were spreading.

Of course.
“Does that even make sense?”
“It’s hard to believe.”
Few were inclined to believe it.
The Phantom Thief hadn’t appeared in person; it was just a warning letter.
The reason this rumor spread was also because the warning was directed at the Mu-dang.
If it weren’t for that it would have likely been buried.
The problem was.
“No aside from the Phantom Thief there are other stories worth discussing.”
The important rumor right now wasn’t about that.
“Have you heard that the Mu-dang was attacked?”
“Yeah I heard. They even said an Elder was killed.”
The Mu-dang a sect of the Alliance Leader was said to have been attacked recently.
There were even rumors that an Elder who was trying to protect the Mu-dang was killed by the attackers.
“Does that even make sense? The Mu-dang being merely attacked….”
In this era of upheaval.
The Mu-dang and Henan were considered the safest places.
Yet the Mu-dang had been attacked and the Elder had been killed which caused disbelief to spread among the people.
“Hey what do you mean merely? The one who attacked the Mu-dang wasn’t just anyone you know?”
The subsequent story made everyone adopt serious expressions.
“Though the Mu-dang’s Sword Master wasn’t there… they say the one who attacked this time is not ordinary.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well….”
As the words began quietly everyone’s eyes widened.
“What? Taming a demonic beast?”
“With just a gesture he wiped out half of the Mu-dang. What the…!”
“One strike against an Elder?”
The figure who suddenly appeared in the air riding a massive demonic beast not only made everyone kneel but also destroyed half of the Mu-dang with a single gesture defeating the Elder who tried to stop him in one blow.
Then he looked at the Mu-dang with scorn and vanished.
“Come on no matter how much you exaggerate that’s not possible!”
Naturally it was not something easy to believe.
“No I really heard that from the open.”
“No way that’s true….”
“Moreover there are rumors that he also attacked the branch of the Murim Alliance recently.”
“Wow….”
The branches of the Murim Alliance deployed in various regions.
Some branches had been attacked by an unknown assailant suffering damage.

And the perpetrator of that attack was the main culprit behind the Mu-dang incident?
If that were true it would be a significant issue.
The world had become dangerous due to the emergence of red demonic beasts.
To have someone opposing the Alliance which seeks to protect the world is alarming.
If the rumors are true he must be a formidable presence.
Perhaps.
“…Perhaps that culprit is on par with the top masters of the Central Plains?”
“What kind of nonsense is that? Who would say something so ridiculous…!”
The top masters of the Central Plains known as the Seven Greats.
Are you saying the attacker is comparable to them?
“Think about it. Who else could attack the Mu-dang kill an Elder and walk away without a care?”
The man’s words made everyone frown but no one could provide a proper rebuttal.
They all knew.
If the rumors were true he would indeed be an extraordinary master.
The problem is that such a being happens to oppose the Alliance which pursues justice.
“…So who exactly is he?”
“No one knows. All we know is that he’s a tall man wearing a mask.”
He was said to be nearly six feet tall dressed in a black martial arts uniform and wearing a contrasting white mask.
With every step he took those around him were forced to kneel under his overwhelming presence feeling immense fear from his gaze.
Though he spoke arrogantly no one could respond to him.
Aside from his gender nothing else was known.
Despite being such a formidable master there was no crucial information available.
Where he suddenly came from.
What he had been doing until then.
Why he opposed the Murim Alliance and attacked the Mu-dang.
No one could discern the reasons or his identity.
But what could be understood was.
“He introduced himself.”
The words spoken by the masked figure.
“Heavenly Demon. He clearly said that.”
The demon sent by heaven.
Those two characters meant that.
Currently Henan as well as the Central Plains had begun to stir.
And at the same time.
“Ah-choo.”
The self-proclaimed Heavenly Demon had to wipe his nose after a sudden sneeze.
Wiping away the snot roughly he glared around with fierce eyes.
“Ugh who’s cursing me again?”
“Would you like a handkerchief?”
“I’m fine I can just wipe it off.”
As Tang So-yeol rummaged through his things to pull out a towel Gu Yang-cheon sniffed and swallowed his snot.
Then he looked straight ahead.
Before a massive building that made his neck ache just to look up at.
Seeing it Gu Yang-cheon sighed.
After seven days and nights they had finally arrived in Henan.
They had reached Henan peacefully without any significant incidents along the way.
They soon found themselves in front of a building in the center of Henan.
Gu Yang-cheon slightly shifted his gaze to look at the building.
He had to frown at the sight.
“Should we… go somewhere else first?”
No matter how much he thought about it he really didn’t want to go.
This place was one where he thought of someone he found uncomfortable among the top three.
Because of that he had to ponder for a while.
But the conclusion was always the same.
At this point he had to see it anyway so delaying the order would be meaningless.
After recalling that Gu Yang-cheon examined the sign of the building.
There it was.
Baekhwa Trading Company Henan Branch.
It was clearly written like that.
