Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 557 (Part 2)

557 (Part 2)
“W-What is this?”
Even as I spoke I felt dizzy. My words came out stiffly.
‘Damn it.’
I tried my best but it seemed that my habit of falling apart when trying to act remained unchanged.
Fortunately it seemed that despite using such a crappy tone the situation was so unexpected that they didn’t notice.
“Lord Geomhu… What is going on? And what is this?”
When I pointedly asked about Geomhu he looked at me with surprise in his eyes.
“…That’s… Gwi-jeong….”
“G-Gwi-jeong!?”
As soon as I heard the words I spoke to Geomhu with wide eyes.
“Are you talking about the legendary love token that was said to have been used by the hero of the era the leader of the Mount Hua Sect Hwasanseonggeom Shin-cheol who stopped the blood calamity…!?”
“Uh… huh?”
“It looks shabby and worn out like a piece of cloth but in reality it is said to be indestructible and can change into the shape desired by the caster!?”
“…Uh… yeah… you know more than I expected.”
“This can’t be! But how did it suddenly end up in my hands…!!”
I did my best to react.
I thought that even Shin Noya who always criticized me for not being able to lie every day might understand this.
“…”
“Oppa… Are you hurt?”
‘Tsk.’
It seemed that this didn’t work either.
‘Why?’
I couldn’t understand it no matter how I looked at it.
I thought I did well.
‘What should I do then?’

If lying didn’t work I should just stick to ignorance…
“Master.”
“Yeah?”
Tight.
I felt someone grab my right arm.
It was Yeongpung.
“This is a treasure of the main text.”
“A seal?”
I wondered why he was suddenly acting like this and looked into Yeongpung’s eyes.
‘Hmm…?’
I had to pause for a moment while looking into Yeongpung’s eyes.
There was something seeping into his pupils.
‘Look at this guy.’
It was a feeling that was both familiar and annoying to me.
“Please return it.”
Squeeze.
I felt strength tightening in the hand that was holding me.
I tried to ignore it and smiled at Yeongpung.
“Sorry but I also want to give it back.”
Does he think I’m doing this because I don’t want to give it to someone?
‘I was surprised too you brat.’
The treasure suddenly flew through the air and jumped into my arm. How could I not be surprised?
“First could you explain what happened? I’m also a victim here.”
“…Please return it.”
“Hmm.”
I was explaining calmly but it seemed Yeongpung wasn’t listening well.
In particular I felt the strength in his grip getting stronger.
I wondered what more I could explain and suddenly let out a sigh.
‘Ah this is annoying.’
As that thought crossed my mind my arm moved involuntarily.
“Wait first calm down….”
Noticing Yeongpung’s strange atmosphere Geomhu rushed over to stop it.
Bang-!
“…!”
But my hand was faster.
“Crack….”
Yeongpung hit on the chin let out a short groan and collapsed.

I grabbed Yeongpung by the collar to prevent him from completely falling and then looked at Geomhu.
Perhaps because I hit without hesitation Geomhu’s face was filled with confusion.
I looked into her eyes and asked flatly.
“Could you explain again?”
“…”
“I didn’t hear it well.”
I tried to say it with a smile but the atmosphere had already turned cold.
******************
Afterward the corrupted officials were able to manage the situation.
Although Yeongpung fainted there was no problem since Geomhu and Guryunghwa were present.
‘It could have gotten a bit annoying.’
I managed to get through it somehow. Of course others suffered more than I did.
‘What can I do? I didn’t do anything right?’
This time I felt wronged because it wasn’t what I intended.
I looked down at my right arm.
Unlike before my hand was now empty. I had to take a breath while recalling the earlier situation.
‘Fortunately it listened well.’
The one on my left arm didn’t listen at all even when I begged it to let go.
But this one thankfully listened well.
Since I wanted it to let go it soon slipped away smoothly.
‘Thanks to that I got through it.’
I could escape the feeling that I had caught Gwi-jeong out of nowhere.
The problem was.
‘Why was that?’
Why did Gwi-jeong come to me?
I heard that the moment Geomhu brought the box and placed it on the table Gwi-jeong had escaped on its own and rushed toward me outside.
‘What a scary thing.’
I couldn’t help but chuckle when I heard that story.
It was the first time I heard that a treasure had its own will and acted like that.
‘Did it perhaps hear my thoughts?’
I felt nothing from Gwi-jeong.
So I came up with a few hypotheses.
‘The most likely reason is that it’s because of Noya’s energy in my body.’
Since it was a love token of Shin Noya I thought this was the only reason Gwi-jeong would act that way.
However.
‘Then what about Yeongpung?’
That raised a question about Yeongpung.
Yeongpung had clearly discovered traces of Shin Noya in the cave and obtained a miraculous encounter.
If that were the case Gwi-jeong should have rushed toward Yeongpung as well not just me.
‘But it didn’t.’
Then I naturally began to think.
The trace that Yeongpung obtained.
‘Is it really Noya’s trace?’
It was a thought that kept crossing my mind on the way back and forth.
Was Yeongpung really the successor of Shin Noya?
If so then what about me?
What is Gwi-jeong and what does this situation mean?
If Noya were here it would be easy to resolve but since that wasn’t the case I had to think more.
Yes think.
I was convinced that I was Noya’s successor yet I was still pondering.
The reason was simple.
‘I’m not sure.’
It’s not that I’m not sure that I’m Noya’s successor.
‘It’s that I’m not sure that the energy of that guy is real.’
I couldn’t be sure that the energy and traces Yeongpung possessed were fake.
It was somewhat ambiguous but the energy Yeongpung had was definitely Noya’s.
That was my conviction.
‘After spending a few days I know.’
It was definitely the same energy.
So I was worried that the energies might resonate with each other.
Tsk.
‘This has become annoyingly complicated.’
Whether it’s Gwi-jeong or whatever it was definitely a complicated matter.
It would have been easier if everything were fake but since everything seemed real it was a frustrating situation.
‘Damn old man why is he never around at times like this.’
While I cursed that esteemed old man inwardly I held it in.
It wasn’t just anything; I felt guilty for cursing the person who went to handle things in my place.
So.
Even though I wasn’t pleased with the situation.
‘I’ll think about this later.’
For now let’s deal with what’s in front of me.
Thinking that I put strength into my legs.
“Grrr!”
As I pressed down a groan came from the floor.
I looked down to see the owner of the sound.
Someone was grimacing in pain under my foot.
I spoke to him.
“I tend to keep my word.”
No matter what means I used I kept my word.
So I was doing the same this time.
“I mentioned it earlier.”
As I spoke fear filled the eyes of the other person.
Enjoying that gaze I continued with a smile.
“I said you’d die if you drew your sword.”
At those words the opponent the shaman’s ceremonial sword Ji-cheol began to tremble slightly.
