    547 (Part 2)

    “Purpose.”

    Crack.

Gu Yang-cheon slightly loosened his body.

“Originally I was going to visit the branch directly before leaving.”

“Are you talking about the Guangdong branch?”

“That’s right. I had some business there.”

    “What kind of…?”

“But that’s no longer necessary. That business has come right before my eyes hasn’t it?”

As he spoke Gu Yang-cheon pointed at something with his hand.

    Seeing that Wi Seok flinched.

What his fingertips pointed to was none other than himself.

“…Are you saying your purpose is me?”

“No not exactly a purpose. Just something I’m passing through?”

    “Why on earth?”

Wi Seok asked filled with doubt.

    It was only natural.

He had no reason to harbor resentment towards someone like him.

And he couldn’t think of any situation that would lead to such a connection.

But to say that his purpose was himself? Wi Seok couldn’t understand.

In response Gu Yang-cheon looked at Wi Seok and said

“Do we need to talk more?”

    “…”

“Anyway there’s only one thing you need to do right now isn’t there?”

Hearing Gu Yang-cheon’s words Wi Seok suddenly bit his lip at a thought that came to mind.

“…There was a story that spread through the Alliance’s letter.”

It was news he had heard just a week ago.

“Recently several key members of the Alliance in the Central Plains have been assassinated.”

    “Wow is that so?”

Gu Yang-cheon made a face as if he found the story intriguing.

But Wi Seok had to frown.

    “Are you the culprit?”

    “What do you think?”

    Thud.

As Gu Yang-cheon took a step forward Wi Seok also gathered his energy.

    He cooled his mind.

Having just witnessed a battle he couldn’t afford to let his guard down.

‘No matter the intention I won’t back down.’

    Swoosh—!

Enhanced qi surged through Wi Seok’s sword.

The fighting spirit emanating from him enveloped the surroundings.

He was going all out from the start.

It would have been better if he had subdued his subordinates beforehand but since he hadn’t he couldn’t hesitate.

‘I’ll aim for the lower body.’

With that judgment Wi Seok moved.

Just as his sword was about to swing through the air.

    Crack—!

    “…!!”

Before he could even catch the flow Wi Seok’s arm twisted.

Gu Yang-cheon had suddenly appeared and shattered his joint.

    “Ugh!”

However Wi Seok quickly twisted his body to change his grip on the sword with his twisted arm.

    Thud—! Thwack—!

Before he could even start his movement he was blocked.

His knee buckled and a shock hit his chest.

    “Cough…!”

    Thud.

    Wi Seok helplessly knelt down.

    Drip.

Blood flowed from his mouth. Just from a single exchange Wi Seok’s body was in tatters.

    “Grr…ugh….”

Wi Seok looked at Gu Yang-cheon with disbelief.

Gu Yang-cheon standing before him and looking down had no trace of emotion in his gaze.

“You asked earlier why you were my purpose.”

    “…Cough…ugh….”

“I don’t really have any resentment towards you right now.”

Gu Yang-cheon said slightly lowering his gaze before meeting Wi Seok’s eyes.

“I have a bit of business with your past self.”

    “…What…what do you mean…?”

    “Do you know?”

A light flickered in Gu Yang-cheon’s blue eyes.

“You will be in charge of a decent unit in a war that will happen about three years from now.”

It was probably called the Seolhwa Unit. That’s how it would be.

“It was a pretty decent unit. The captain there did quite well.”

Though his voice was playful Wi Seok was suffocating under an unknown energy.

“But then those bastards betrayed us halfway through.”

    “…Hoo…huh…that…huh….”

“In the process a woman who was standing right at the front got stabbed and nearly died.”

    “What on earth…are you…talking about…?”

“While she was bleeding profusely I carried her and ran like crazy. It was even raining.”

    His back soaked in blood.

The pouring rain washing it away.

To the cave they fled to.

“Thinking back to that time still makes me feel dirty.”

It was a memory he could never forget for even a moment.

That’s why Gu Yang-cheon felt he had to tell the current Wi Seok.

“That’s the reason I wanted to see you.”

    “Such…nonsense….”

    Crack.

Wi Seok couldn’t continue his words.

Because Gu Yang-cheon swung his fist and crushed Wi Seok’s head.

    Thud—!

The body of Wi Seok whose head had disappeared collapsed to the ground.

Gu Yang-cheon wiped the blood off his clothes roughly and stood up.

    Then he immediately walked somewhere.

    Tap tap.

He nudged someone with his foot among the fallen.

    “I know you’re awake.”

    “…!”

The person Gu Yang-cheon was nudging was none other than Seo Dong.

Seo Dong who had fainted in battle had just regained consciousness.

To Seo Dong Gu Yang-cheon said

“You probably can’t get up right now so don’t force yourself. Just listen to me.”

    “…P-please…save…me….”

“I’m not going to kill you so don’t be scared. We’re still talking so don’t interrupt. Can you cut off something else?”

    “…”

At Gu Yang-cheon’s words Seo Dong’s mouth was tightly shut.

“I just killed your branch leader you know?”

    “…”

“So what should you do now?”

    “…”

    “You can answer this one.”

    “…! I absolutely won’t say…! I’ll stay quiet until I die…!”

    “No that’s not it.”

Gu Yang-cheon seemed displeased with Seo Dong’s reaction.

“If you’re a chivalrous member of the Murim Alliance you shouldn’t be like that right? You have to follow the procedure.”

    “What…what do you mean…?”

“You’re observing well. Just do as you see fit. Write down the entire situation and report it as you saw it.”

As Gu Yang-cheon spoke his eyes were clearly smiling.

“And write down the information about the righteous faction like this.”

Gu Yang-cheon moved closer to Seo Dong and said

    “Heavenly Demon (天魔).”

At that voice Seo Dong flinched.

“That’s the reason I’m sparing you right now. Remember it well?”

    “…Wait….”

    Bang—!

    “Cough.”

As if he had nothing more to say he struck the back of Seo Dong’s neck knocking him out again.

Thus there was no one conscious in the area except for Gu Yang-cheon and the young man watching this unfold.

“It seems like the work here is roughly done….”

Gu Yang-cheon spoke as if tidying up and shifted his gaze.

It was towards the sword demon leaning against the tree stump.

The sword demon was wide-eyed as if he couldn’t believe the situation.

To that sword demon Gu Yang-cheon said

    “Hey.”

    “…!!”

Startled by the call the sword demon jumped.

Gu Yang-cheon whose face was splattered with blood and not properly wiped looked particularly terrifying.

Yet for some reason the sword demon couldn’t take his eyes off that figure.

    Gu Yang-cheon asked

    “What’s your name?”

    “…”

    A nonchalant question.

The sword demon hesitated before answering.

For some reason he felt compelled to respond.

    “…Yul…Seong-yul.”

    “Seong-yul?”

Hearing the name Gu Yang-cheon laughed as if he found it absurd.

“That doesn’t suit you at all. What’s with that nice-sounding name?”

After saying that he turned around and started to walk away.

After taking a few steps Gu Yang-cheon turned his head to look at Seong-yul and said

“What are you doing? Follow me.”

    “…!”

    Follow you?

As Seong-yul was taken aback Gu Yang-cheon continued.

“Oh if you don’t want to go just say so in advance.”

If he said he didn’t want to go would he not have to?

“Because I’ll break your legs and carry you.”

    “…”

At that Seong-yul cautiously got to his feet.
