    〈 Episode 542 〉 Sword Demon.

The valley that protects the mountain.

    The mountain behind that valley.

    Whiiiii….

    The wind blew there.

The spring breeze swayed the flowers as if sweeping them away.

It gently wrapped around the flower-covered mountain.

    Hwaaaaaaa-!

Every time the wind brushed by the petals fluttered.

It seemed calm yet there was definitely power within.

The wind continued to pass through the forest climbing towards the peak.

As it ascended to the end a field of blooming flowers came into view.

The strange thing was that the wind was not blowing in one direction but rather swirling around a center point.

In the center of the field the wind wrapped around someone as if embracing them.

At that center stood a person.

    A woman.

The one embraced by the wind was a blonde woman.

Her hair seemed to shine even in broad daylight. Her skin was so white it appeared almost transparent.

Her nose was sharp and her lightly tinted lips resembled flower petals.

Her appearance seemed to condense and encapsulate the very essence of beauty.

The woman who felt out of place just by being seen had her eyes closed feeling the wind.

    “…Huu…”

With a softly exhaled breath the wind rippled.

The wind’s speed which had quickened to some extent changed steadily and the woman soon moved her hands.

Though nothing was held in her hands the shape of her hands somehow seemed to grasp something.

    Suuuu.

    Slowly her arms rose.

Just as the woman was about to swing her hands through the air.

    Flinch.

    “…!”

The space between her eyebrows slightly furrowed.

    Huuuuuk-! Bang-!

The raging wind vanished with a rough sound.

In an instant the surroundings fell silent.

The woman turned her posture and opened her eyes which she had closed.

Her golden eyes sparkled as she let out a shallow sigh.

    “Ha….”

The sigh she released was filled with disappointment.

This was yet another failure in what she had attempted to do.

“It seems it did not go as planned.”

At the sudden voice the blonde woman Wi Seol-ah turned her head.

In the direction her gaze shifted an old man stood with his hands clasped behind his back.

Dressed neatly in a martial arts uniform with his hair tied back the sharpness of his blue eyes hinted at his martial artist status as evidenced by the well-defined physique and the sword at his waist.

Seeing the old man appear Wi Seol-ah did not show surprise but lightly bowed in respect.

    “I greet Elder Cheonjon.”

The old man was none other than Cheonjon one of the three lords and known as the sky of the Namgung Clan.

Cheonjon gestured as he continued speaking acknowledging Wi Seol-ah’s greeting.

    “I apologize for interrupting.”

“It’s nothing. I was just about to stop.”

At Wi Seol-ah’s words Cheonjon smiled slightly.

    “Not easy is it?”

    “…”

“Indeed it won’t be easy. That is only natural.”

As Cheonjon spoke he took a step closer to Wi Seol-ah.

“First do not be impatient. Just the fact that you have grasped a clue is truly remarkable.”

“…It is all thanks to your teachings Elder.”

“Flattering words but that is not the case. I merely offered you a small piece of advice. What you have grasped is solely your own strength.”

    “…”

At Cheonjon’s words Wi Seol-ah smiled faintly slightly bowing her head.

    “Thank you.”

    “Not at all ah.”

As Cheonjon continued speaking he suddenly recalled something he had forgotten and addressed Wi Seol-ah.

“The reason I came to find you is that the Clan Head is looking for you.”

    “…!”

At Cheonjon’s words Wi Seol-ah’s eyes widened.

“I will go down right away.”

    “Very well. You’ve worked hard.”

“I will see you next time.”

After bowing Wi Seol-ah lightly leaped and vanished from her spot.

As she disappeared Cheonjon carefully stroked his beard while watching her retreating figure.

    “…Hmm.”

Cheonjon was recalling the wind that Wi Seol-ah had just conjured.

    It was fast yet heavy.

It was not a natural wind but one raised solely by Wi Seol-ah’s power.

Moreover it was a wind that did not even use qi.

Thus Cheonjon swallowed his surprise inwardly.

    “That young child already….”

Was she already trying to reach the realm of thought?

Cheonjon felt a mix of emotions about this astonishing situation.

He had only given a few pieces of advice.

Yet with just that small act the child was creating a sword in her heart.

Could it be because of that?

A strange feeling began to fill Cheonjon’s heart as he witnessed this.

It was a deep emotion he wanted to ignore.

    At that moment.

    “Are you envious?”

    “…”

At the voice that came from behind Cheonjon exhaled softly. When he turned around he saw someone sitting on a nearby rock.

A young man with black hair dressed in a dark martial arts uniform.

Looking at him Cheonjon said “That is not the case.”

“Anyone can see the envy in your eyes so why pretend otherwise?”

    “…”

The young man known as Paejon one of the three lords like Cheonjon took a sip from the drink he was holding and spoke to Cheonjon.

“I understand the desire to pick up a precious gem rolling on the ground. But restrain yourself. That child is not within your domain.”

Building a domain with just a few pieces of advice.

And finding the clue to the heart sword within it.

At merely twenty years of age.

Cheonjon had discovered the clue at a much older age far beyond forty.

From the perspective of another swordsman it was only natural to feel jealousy and desire.

At Paejon’s words Cheonjon wore a bitter smile.

“…I know. Don’t worry I’m aware that I’m not in a position to indulge in such desires.”

As Cheonjon spoke in a somewhat moist voice this time Paejon’s brow furrowed.

“Really I just can’t get used to it. The taste of the drink has dropped significantly.”

It was no fun to acknowledge it so easily.

That rude and unpleasant person had changed so much.

Even after several years Paejon still could not adapt to this situation.

“Tsk I wonder what the Clan Head did to you.”

“I am always grateful to the Clan Head.”

    “Ha.”

At Cheonjon’s kind tone Paejon threw the bottle he was holding away in disgust.

It was a sign that he could no longer drink.

“Elder are you really losing your mind? I’m genuinely worried about you.”

“Do I seem that way? If this is due to losing my mind then I would rather prefer it this way.”

    “…No that’s not it.”

Cheonjon would not have tried to teach the sword to the successor of the sword lord.

Paejon swallowed the words he had almost spat out.

It seemed like a futile statement to Cheonjon now.

So he decided to say something entirely different.

“If you’re going to show such kindness wouldn’t it be better to extend it to your own children?”

A person who had been obsessed with the Namgung Clan now awake showed no interest in the Namgung Clan itself.

    Paejon could only feel puzzled.

In response Cheonjon looked at Paejon and said “That is not something you should say to me.”

    “…”

At Cheonjon’s words Paejon slightly closed his mouth.

    It was true.

Paejon himself had no interest in his own bloodline the descendants of the Bi family so he had no right to say anything to Cheonjon.

As if he knew this Cheonjon continued to speak without wiping the smile off his face.

“At least I have no intention of taking a child from another family as my disciple.”

    “Tsk.”

At Cheonjon’s words Paejon finally clicked his tongue.

It meant that he was questioning why Cheonjon was saying so much about taking in someone else’s bloodline as a disciple.

“You still have a way with words Elder.”

    “Haha.”

While Cheonjon was laughing Paejon took a letter from his bosom and tossed it to Cheonjon.

Cheonjon caught it lightly and looked at Paejon with a questioning gaze.

    “What is this?”

“This was brought to me by a servant this morning. It seems that the friend from the Mu-dang Sword Sect is trying to do something.”

    Sarak.

As he listened Cheonjon unfolded the letter.

The first thing he saw was a character representing the seal of the Murim Alliance.

And then a sentence that followed.

    – Opening of the Divine Dragon Martial Arts Festival.

    “…”

Seeing that Cheonjon wiped the smile off his face.”’
