Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 525 (Part 2)

525 (Part 2)
“No. They didn’t say anything at all.”
That was precisely the problem.
Moyong Hee-ah whispered that in a low voice.
“They just sat quietly without saying a word… and then got up first saying they had something to do.”
“Really?”
The fact that they left right away might mean that their work isn’t finished yet.
So does that mean they came to see me even though their work isn’t done?
After all the request from the Poison King couldn’t have been that simple.
As I pondered this Moyong Hee-ah asked me in a voice that seemed to be holding back her exhaustion from dealing with corrupted officials.
“… Right. Even if I concede a hundred times. Let’s say this is something that can be overlooked. Young Master.”
“Um?”
“… Is there something else that has happened?”
“… Huh?”
“This incident is related to you Young Master.”
“…”
I felt it earlier but how on earth did she know?
I was somewhat afraid of Moyong Hee-ah’s certainty.
For now I decided to play dumb like last time.
“… What do you mean? How could it be related to me?”
“Really there’s nothing?”
“That’s right.”
“But why do your eyes look like they’re lying?”
“…”
At those words I instinctively averted my gaze.
I realized after looking away that it was no different from admitting it.

‘Damn it.’
As expected Moyong Hee-ah let out a snort at my reaction.
She already had a convinced expression.
“… Tsk.”
I clicked my tongue at that. Would she let it go if I tried to brush it off?
“I’m not going to let it go.”
“… I haven’t said anything yet.”
Even though I hadn’t asked a firm answer came back.
There was no escaping this. That thought came to me naturally.
What should I do?
‘Anyway this information will come out soon.’
Considering the actions of the Poison King and Moyong Hee-ah’s information network it wouldn’t take long to figure out what was going on.
Thinking of that… there was no need to hide it.
Moyong Hee-ah must have been asking me to tell her because she knew that.
I quickly organized my thoughts internally.
There were a few things I shouldn’t say.
Right after I sorted that out I conveyed the information to Moyong Hee-ah in a somewhat condensed manner.
“… Human experimentation?”
Upon hearing this information Moyong Hee-ah immediately reacted.
She didn’t seem to care much about past plans or Elder’s schemes.
But when it came to the story of human experimentation to create elixirs she reacted strongly.
It wasn’t so much that it was shocking…
“… But the Poison King is acting this way?”
She couldn’t understand why the Poison King was behaving like this despite the incident.
He was killing Elders while human experimentation was exposed.
Now he was trying to deal with the Third Elder and Fourth Elder as well.
If that happened it would not only be burdensome for the factions they were each responsible for but…
He must have known that such rapid action would provoke severe backlash. Yet the Poison King chose to confront it head-on.
From Moyong Hee-ah’s perspective it must have been the most incomprehensible story.
‘It wouldn’t be any different for me.’
The fact that he was unaware of such an incident was problematic in itself so he might be trying to prove his innocence by coming out like this.
But it seemed that wasn’t the only reason.
‘But to say that… it’s too extreme.’
Was it just extreme? He acted in a way that was too conspicuous.
Rather than trying to quietly hide this process he was moving as if he wanted everyone to know right away.
‘Did he even contact the Alliance?’
I heard he even sent a letter containing information about the issue to the Alliance.

‘What is he trying to do?’
What could his intention be?
I still found it difficult to grasp his meaning.
If things went wrong this story could spread throughout the Central Plains. If that happened…
‘If it goes badly he could fall from the Four Great Families.’
There was a risk that one of the pillars of the prestigious family now known as the Four Great Families could be overturned.
I didn’t know about the past but now there were many prestigious families following the discussion of the Five Great Families.
The Poison King who knew this better than anyone must have been well aware that coming out like this was immediately dangerous.
‘… Could it be?’
A thought crossed my mind one I hoped was not true.
The mention of contacting the Alliance. That sparked a thought.
‘Is he trying to deliberately inform the Alliance?’
Since the Murim Alliance was also involved in this incident they would want to cover it up.
Could he be trying to make it widely known in order to get the Murim Alliance to act?
I thought that for a moment.
‘That would be too risky.’
I shook my head immediately.
If that were the case he would have sent the information more secretly.
He wouldn’t have used such a method.
‘I don’t know.’
At this point I had no idea what the Poison King was intending.
Should I just let it go thinking he would handle it himself? But that would be too reckless.
As I pondered various thoughts and questions suddenly…
“Ah…!”
Moyong Hee-ah reacted unexpectedly.
It seemed she had realized something.
“… Could it be… that’s why?”
“What’s wrong?”
Moyong Hee-ah looked so surprised that even her eyes were trembling.
Had she figured something out?
“What…?”
“Young Master I’ll go ahead.”
“Wait! Hey just a moment…!”
Had she really noticed something? Moyong Hee-ah suddenly turned and ran away.
Before I could catch her.
“…”
She was so fast that she had already disappeared far away.
I watched her go and said
“… Looks like she’s feeling much better?”
Perhaps it was because the cold had significantly lessened? She seemed to be in better shape.
Of course to be honest if I wanted to catch her I could have.
No matter how exhausted I was I wasn’t at a point where I couldn’t catch Moyong Hee-ah.
I was even curious about what she had figured out so I thought about just grabbing her and asking.
But I held back.
There was one more person who had business with me.
I broke my gaze from the vanished Moyong Hee-ah and looked behind me saying
“I haven’t seen you in a while. Are you feeling better now?”
Upon hearing that the bushes rustled slightly.
Then a young man dressed in a black martial arts uniform slowly walked into view. He approached me briefly and said
“… It’s been a long time.”
It was the master who hadn’t shown his face for a while. Where had he been?
He only appeared after everything was over…
“I heard something happened… it seems to have been quite a big deal.”
The master glanced around before speaking to me.
“Your father seems to have come as well.”
“How did you know?”
Did they happen to run into each other?
I wondered if that was the case as I looked at the master.
“Anyone emitting this level of energy can only be your father so how could I not know?”
“… Hmm…”
It was a response that made sense so I nodded.
That could indeed be the case.
Thinking that I looked at the master.
“And… that.”
“But you know I have a question before that.”
I wanted to ask something I had been meaning to for nearly three days.
The master looked at me with a questioning expression.
Looking into his eyes I said
“Why are you being so short with your words? Our little brother?”
“…”
I didn’t know why he had suddenly appeared after so long… but shouldn’t we address what needed to be addressed?
It hadn’t even been seven days so I was still the older brother.
