    525 (Part 1)

”’Chapter 526 – Just Give It to Me Once.

As the sunset gradually deepened I stepped outside to stretch my body.

Considering that I had lost consciousness just past noon I must have been out for several hours.

    I lightly loosened my limbs.

    Crack.

Pain coursed through my entire body.

It wasn’t just muscle soreness; it felt as if my body was completely broken.

    It was quite painful but…

    ‘This is bearable.’

Compared to the pain I felt when casting the Twin Heaven’s Demonic Martial Arts this was trivial.

    This much is nothing.

Recalling the memories of being tortured in my past life this kind of pain hardly stirred any feelings.

Thinking about it it’s remarkable that my limbs were intact until death.

While other demonic practitioners would have their eyes and tongues pulled out if captured I could consider myself lucky that only my vocal cords were damaged.

Of course looking back now it wasn’t so much luck as…

    ‘Something…’

I thought it was someone’s doing.

I wasn’t entirely sure but looking back now I felt that way.

No matter how I looked at it it was strange.

The events that had happened to me felt too coincidental to be mere chance; there was something subtle about it.

    ‘This is…’

It felt like the fog had lifted after my last conversation with Dang Je-mun.

My thoughts about the Heavenly Demon had changed and these aspects were part of that.

I didn’t know if I had deliberately ignored it or if I just hadn’t wanted to know.

Now I was feeling that subtle sensation.

It was as if something that had been blurry had become clear.

    ‘Did Dang Je-mun do something?’

I wasn’t certain but the words she had said to me lingered in my mind.

The words about erasing the oblivion that was hanging over me.

    Crack.

    I loosened my arms.

The pain shot up my spine and pricked the top of my head but I didn’t pay it any mind.

I slowly assessed the effects of the recoil.

    Pain aside.

‘It feels like the qi isn’t flowing well.’

There was a sensation that energy wasn’t properly accumulating in my body.

It was too definite to be dismissed as an illusion.

    ‘Hmm.’

Is this the extent of the recoil from using an incompatible artifact?

If so it felt like the cost-effectiveness was terrible.

It wasn’t that severe but I felt like I would be about thirty percent weaker in a real fight.

    The fortunate thing was.

‘I don’t think recovery will take long.’

Even if my body was strained the recovery speed was fast.

Just looking at it now that was the case.

The sore muscles were healing and the acupoints that felt fatigued were quickly improving.

As the pain came blood flowed rapidly.

I could feel my body recovering to a noticeable degree.

    ‘Not bad.’

This was a feeling I had also experienced when I was beaten by the Demon Lord.

Not only had my body’s durability increased but the body that seemed like it would take days to recover was back to normal in just a few days.

    ‘Good.’

A body that could withstand a lot of wear and tear was certainly welcome for the future.

Crack. The immediate pain was bothersome but there was a harvest of sorts wasn’t there?

    ‘I can use any artifact.’

I still wasn’t entirely sure about this but I thought it was clear.

Along with the fact that I could use the brain energy of the Brain Demon as a weapon I also contemplated the artifact of the Qi Spirit.

‘Did I really not know how to use the Qi Spirit?’

As I focused my will I felt the Qi Spirit move.

Though it looked just like a bandage it was indeed an artifact.

It was an object that could change into any form.

    The problem was.

‘Is there a reason I can use this?’

From the moment I realized I could use the Brain Demon that thought had been lingering in my mind.

The crimson Qi Spirit had before I knew it transformed into a blue hue.

Since the moment I had shed my skin.

This was definitely not a coincidence. It was obvious to anyone.

The Qi Spirit had changed alongside me.

    Moreover.

    Shwaaa…

The rival spirit which had peeked out from my hand also changed.

The red body of the rival spirit had turned into blue scales.

    Even more so.

    ‘It has changed its appearance.’

The rival spirit which had merely been a snake had transformed into a different form.

Right now it still had the slender shape of a snake.

But if it wanted to it could grow to a massive size at any time.

In terms of size it could be compared to a cow in the neighborhood.

I looked at the creature which seemed to be flicking its tongue as if it knew nothing.

    “Hey where have you been?”

    – Shwaaa?

“Now that I think about it where have you been? I couldn’t see you.”

I had been busy running around for days so I had no idea what the rival spirit had been up to.

Seeing that it wasn’t whining for food after such a long time it seemed it had been taking care of itself.

‘Could it be that it was hunting with that size?’

While it wasn’t particularly large compared to demonic beasts its appearance was striking.

The shimmering scales of course and the fur on its body gave it a unique aura.

It looked different enough that if the rival spirit roamed around in its original state it could cause problems.

“If that’s the case be careful. If anyone finds out I’ll just eat you.”

    – Shwa… Shwaaa…

Seeing it tremble at my words it seemed it really had been hunting.

‘I need to find out more about this guy too.’

The egg left by the rival spirit. A being born from consuming my energy.

At first I thought it was just a rival spirit’s offspring but now that it was no longer that I needed to understand what had happened.

As I recalled these things I couldn’t help but chuckle.

    ‘Busy busy.’

There was so much to do. I couldn’t understand why things kept piling up.

    After checking my physical condition.

I took a deep breath and used the Qi Transformation Technique.

    Crack-!

My bones twisted as I slowly returned to my former body.

The sensation of my vision lowering was always heavy.

    “Ha…”

With a somewhat tired gaze I looked around.

I sensed a presence beyond the bushes.

    Before long someone appeared.

    “There you are.”

The one who appeared with a frown was none other than Mo Yong-hia.

I asked her as I looked at her.

    “Is it over?”

    “… Is it over?”

Perhaps my question displeased her; Mo Yong-hia’s eyes turned somewhat fierce.

    What is this…?

“Why are you looking at me like that…?”

“Are you asking because you don’t know?”

    “Yeah.”

    “Ha….”

Mo Yong-hia let out a deep sigh and continued.

“How could you just leave us there? I thought I was going to suffocate to death…!”

“Well… I thought my father would be leaving soon so I came out. He said he was fine.”

I had said I would step out for a moment to check my condition and my father had allowed me to do so.

I was just following his words.

    Moreover.

‘I felt a bit awkward being with Namgung Bi-ah.’

Right now I felt a bit uncomfortable looking at Namgung Bi-ah’s face.

[Uncomfortable my ass. You’re just embarrassed.]

    ‘…’

This time I couldn’t ignore Noya’s sharp remark.

    Damn it.

Of course Mo Yong-hia who didn’t know my thoughts seemed to be displeased with the situation.

“Is it okay to just leave because you said it was fine…? Huh.”

“Are you that angry? Why? Did my father say something to you?””’
