Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 515 (Part 2)

515 (Part 2)
“Shwaak-!
Upon hearing that the completed medicine was intended to be forcefully fed to Tang So-yeol the Poison King swung his sword and personally beheaded him.
The Poison King who usually did not use a sword had taken the trouble to wield it and strike.
Blood splattered soaking the floor and the atmosphere around turned cold due to the Poison King’s unprecedented violent action.
Seemingly quite angry the Poison King gritted his teeth and called out to the martial artists of the Tang Clan.
“Bring the First Elder and the Second Elder.”
His face twisted like a demon was quite fearsome.
Seeing that I couldn’t help but feel a shock inside.
‘Oh I shouldn’t have killed him.’
It was a surprise at having killed the First Elder.
There was so much information to be gained. I hadn’t heard everything because the Poison King had arrived at that moment.
Now that he had killed him like that it had become quite troublesome for me as well.
‘… Damn it.’
Still it wasn’t without gains.
I realized that if I succeeded in becoming a demonic practitioner I could somewhat restore the broken mind.
As the head of the First Elder rolled on the ground and the martial artists began to scatter at the Poison King’s command I too decided to leave that place.
Staying there any longer would be problematic.
I could see that it would soon become noisy so I decided to take a brief escape.
I was about to ask if my father would come with me.
“Go ahead first.”
He seemed to know I would run away and spoke in advance.
“… What about Clan Head?”
What would my father do?
When I asked that my father looked at me with an expression that seemed displeased.
What was it? Did I do something wrong?

I cautiously observed and my father spoke to me.
“Address me properly.”
“Yes?”
“This is not the Gu family.”
“… What does that mean?”
It was a somewhat strange statement.
Then what should I call him? Should I not call Clan Head Clan Head?
After thinking for a moment I blurted out the only word that came to mind.
“Father…?”
“…”
Upon hearing my address my father nodded.
Was this the correct answer?
I didn’t understand why he liked this but I decided to move on and asked the main question.
“Aren’t you coming with me?”
“Not yet the deal is not finished.”
“A deal?”
I looked at him puzzled and my father began to walk.
As he did I heard a telepathy in my ear.
– I made a deal with the Poison King. If I help with this matter I will be granted priority trading rights with the Tang Clan.
I widened my eyes at my father’s words.
No when did he say that…?
And the deal could it be about…
‘Is he talking about capturing the Elders?’
As that thought crossed my mind I quickly glanced at the Poison King.
Could it be that he anticipated this and called my father here?
‘No wonder he was making such a big fuss about handling things.’
If such matters are not dealt with quietly the criminals can sense it and escape so the proper approach is to conduct a silent ambush.
I had found it strange that the Poison King was handling things so noisily in a place filled with people.
‘That guy….’
The Poison King was much more cunning than I had expected.
The reason he deliberately made a loud commotion was surely to elevate the authority of the Clan Head.
By dealing with the Elders and momentarily scattering the Tang Clan’s forces he aimed to showcase the influence of the Clan Head.
‘Hah…’
I let out a hollow laugh at the unexpectedly sticky situation.
The Poison King was far more capable than I had anticipated.
However what worried me was.
‘Priority trading rights huh.’

As the family with the highest commercial power regarding iron having priority trading rights with them is of significant value.
As far as I know the Murim Alliance seemed to have that.
‘Can the Gu family really take this?’
At a time when there was already much talk about collaboration with the Moyong Clan.
I wondered if it was okay to take something like this from the Murim Alliance. If this happens the power of the Gu family would grow too large.
One family becoming that enormous is something the Murim Alliance would most certainly not want.
‘… Well my father will handle it.’
I quickly dismissed those thoughts.
My father would take care of it.
If anything happens usually Madam would step in and resolve it.
Watching my father leisurely disappear to capture the Elders I moved on again.
My destination was already set.
“Uh Young Master…?”
In a place slightly behind the main hall.
I saw a woman petting a wolf that looked strangely familiar.
The woman was of course Tang So-yeol.
This was Tang So-yeol’s quarters.
Tang So-yeol smiled brightly upon seeing me unexpectedly.
That smile while cheerful seemed to have a shadow that bothered me.
It was something I had been subtly concerned about which made it even more so.
“What brings you here?”
“I was just wondering what you were doing.”
It was around the time the Poison King was busy tidying things up.
However seeing Tang So-yeol’s reaction it felt like the Poison King had kept it a secret from her.
‘The atmosphere around is more tense than usual.’
Around Tang So-yeol’s quarters.
The number of martial artists stationed was double the usual and most of them were of a higher level than usual.
It seemed they were prepared for any unforeseen circumstances and it appeared Tang So-yeol had not informed them.
As if to confirm this a Tang Clan martial artist who suddenly appeared reacted.
– Gu Gong….
– I already know. Don’t worry.
-…
He probably intended to warn me not to speak about the First Elder so I spoke first.
“Oh Young Master. This is the wolf I raised. Isn’t it cute?”
Tang So-yeol introduced the wolf she was petting seemingly pleased that I had come.
It was a massive wolf with black fur…. um… how should I put it.
“… It looks really rude doesn’t it?”
There was something about its appearance that I found unappealing.
Grrr…!
Did the wolf understand my words? It showed its teeth. This little brat?
Just as I was about to scold it a bit Tang So-yeol quickly raised her hand to stop me.
“That’s what makes it cute!”
“… Oh really.”
Well if you think it’s cute then that’s fine.
I can’t say anything about the animal you raise.
After all I was also in a position where I was raising a strange snake.
‘Speaking of which I haven’t given that guy a name yet.’
I recalled the rival who was probably sleeping in the quarters by now.
It seemed to be a smart and helpful creature yet somehow I hadn’t named it.
What should I call it?
The contemplation was brief.
‘Let’s call it Ddoldol.’
Since it helps out smartly I think I’ll just call it Ddoldol.
– Shaaaah!
From somewhere I heard an echo that sounded like Ddoldol screaming.
It must be an illusion.
I slightly nodded and looked at Tang So-yeol as I spoke.
“The reason I came is simply put I have something to ask.”
“To me?”
“Yeah.”
Her one eye lightly tinted in a pale green hue.
Looking into those eyes I asked.
“Do you have any desire to become stronger?”
“… Huh?”
Even I thought it was a rather abrupt question.
