Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 513 (Part 2)

513 (Part 2)
My father’s words felt somewhat strange.
If the Poison King is coming can’t we just wait?
I noticed that the formations covering this entrance…
‘… It seems like my father tore them apart.’
With a bit of crushing and grinding if we just know the location it seems like we could find it quickly.
So I thought we could just wait together but then…
“Wasn’t there something to investigate here?”
“…!”
I had to swallow my breath at the sudden remark.
My father had already sensed it.
That I had business in this space.
‘… Oh dear.’
Along with what the Heavenly Demon had mentioned.
This space likely relates to the birth plan of the Heavenly Martial Body.
No it must be so.
Otherwise there would be no reason to cover it with such a thick formation system let alone create something in such a deep place.
Moreover.
‘The atmosphere feels different.’
The poison I felt since arriving.
Along with the faint sight of a demonic beast’s corpse beyond the back.
Now due to the battle qi and martial energy were guarding that space but there was something else.
‘Does that mean…’
My father’s words about deliberately going outside to confront the Poison King.
I felt like I understood the hidden intention behind that.
He would buy me some time.

‘Find out what needs to be found?’
As I grasped my father’s intention I began to sweat profusely.
Just how much had he figured out? Feeling my heart grow cold I decided to act first.
“… Thank you.”
“…”
Pop-!
I heard the sound of sparks flying.
When I looked up my father was already gone from that spot.
Staring blankly at the empty space Shin Noya spoke to me.
[You’ve been completely figured out.]
“… Indeed.”
I should have just waited quietly until he returned.
I moved unnecessarily and caused a problem.
“… Tsk.”
I clicked my tongue and shifted my steps.
What was discovered was discovered. He said he would give me time so I had to find out what I could.
I headed towards the still trembling Elder Il.
“Huh… um… um…”
Elder Il was trembling as if half-conscious.
No matter how I looked at it his condition was not good.
“Huh… um… uh…”
The old man already frail looked even weaker.
Seeing that I let out a slight sigh.
“That’s unfortunate.”
It was unfortunate.
Now that it had come to this there was nothing more I could do.
I wanted to make him like this.
“Isn’t it quite unfortunate?”
I asked while lowering my gaze but Elder Il only looked at me as if he were seeing something terrifying.
“Mon… monster….”
“Monster?”
Was he talking to me? Or was it something directed at my father?
Both seemed similar.
The meanings were different though.
‘Can he understand something?’
Elder Il’s mind had already collapsed. I wondered if it was an act but it didn’t seem like it.
What on earth had happened to him to end up like this?

In this state torture wouldn’t work.
‘Then should I capture the others who are in sync with him and ask?’
Elder Il couldn’t have been the only one involved.
No matter how influential he was he didn’t seem like someone that formidable.
It seemed like things were going to get a bit troublesome.
“Eh?”
I noticed something strange about the trembling Elder Il.
He was tightly gripping something with both hands.
What was it?
It seemed like he was holding something.
As I reached out to check he suddenly exclaimed.
“Ah… no…! This… this one…!”
Had he sensed that I was trying to take it away? He began to resist.
How annoying.
“Should I just tear it off with his arm?”
“…!”
At my careless remark Elder Il froze in his movements.
“Tear… tear? Ah… no….”
Was he reacting to the idea of tearing off his arm?
Why?
It didn’t matter.
What mattered was that he reacted.
“That’s right. If you don’t hand it over I’ll tear it off.”
Ah of course this wasn’t just a threat.
I genuinely intended to tear it off if he didn’t give it to me.
I didn’t have time to waste on verbal sparring.
Elder Il seemed to realize that I was serious.
With a face crushed by fear he extended his hand towards me.
What was he holding that made him react like this?
In the midst of it all his clenched fist didn’t loosen.
So.
Crack-!
“Ahhhhh!”
I grabbed Elder Il’s wrist and crushed it.
His scream pierced my ears.
I considered breaking his mouth too.
But as his grip loosened I could see the object he was holding so I decided to let it go.
“What is this?”
I tilted my head as I looked at the fallen object.
It was a gem. A small gem at that.
Why was he holding something like this?
As I picked up the gem that had fallen to the ground and examined it more closely.
“I don’t think there’s anything else.”
Just as I thought it was merely a gem.
Vroom-!
“…!”
The gem in my hand suddenly began to vibrate.
Moreover the energy inside it surged and spread in all directions.
As the energy brushed against me my body reacted uncontrollably.
It was intense.
The poison contained within along with the sheer amount of energy writhing was overwhelming.
“… Huh.”
Seeing this I could be certain.
There was something within this gem.
I immediately thrust the gem towards Elder Il.
“What is this?”
I asked but Elder Il still stammered showing that he wasn’t in his right mind.
Even so his eyes were fixated on the gem.
“Um.”
At this point I wouldn’t be able to obtain any useful information.
Even if his body had collapsed his mind was beyond saving.
Should I really capture another one?
As that thought crossed my mind another thought emerged simultaneously.
There was one method I could consider.
It was just a rather unsatisfactory method.
“… Still I should check.”
I wondered if it could indeed affect the part of his mind that had collapsed.
But it was better than not trying at all.
Now wasn’t the time to hesitate.
Crack-.
“Ugh…!”
I swiftly grabbed Elder Il’s neck.
Thump-!
My heart raced wildly.
The energy spread out.
I felt my pupils heat up.
The energy bound to my heart flowed through my hand and penetrated Elder Il.
“Ughhhhhh!”
At the sudden influx of energy Elder Il’s body shook violently.
I continued to push the energy into him without stopping.
Elder Il’s body greedily absorbed my energy.
Feeling that I infused my will into the energy.
[From now on.]
This was at some point.
[Your heaven.]
It was similar to the method the Heavenly Demon had employed.
******************
Henan.
Deep underground beneath it.
A place where the air was so cold it felt frozen.
In that place a young man lay with his eyes closed.
The young man who seemed to be lying as if dead.
Vroom….
“… Hmm.”
Suddenly feeling a sense of alienation he opened his eyes.
At that moment the woman guarding his side flinched.
It wasn’t yet time for her master to awaken.
The woman cautiously observed the young man as if she were being careful.
The young man was shining with his characteristic red eyes and the woman could see that amidst it all.
For some reason her master was wearing a smile.
“Hehe….”
Not stopping there the young man Blood Demon even let out a laugh.
How could he not?
“How amusing.”
Blood Demon stroked his chest with his hand.
And so he could feel it more clearly.
It was severed.
One of the connections he had tightly bound. Snapped! It had broken.
He had cherished it having tied it up carefully yet it had broken like this.
“Whose doing could this be?”
He pondered for a moment but Blood Demon already knew the answer.
In truth he had headed towards Sichuan. That place was the territory of the Tang Clan.
Could it be the Tang Clan’s doing? No they didn’t possess such power. It wasn’t even worth doubting.
The value the current Tang Clan held was nothing different.
“That child was headed there.”
The place where the one he had been watching was headed. That was all.
Could this truly be a coincidence?
Blood Demon thought it unlikely.
Moreover.
“I hope it isn’t.”
He wished it wasn’t.
If that child had grown strong enough to sever his thread it was something he wished for more than anything.
For the paradise he dreamed of.
“Muhee.”
“Yes.”
At Blood Demon’s call Muhee responded. Blood Demon wasn’t looking at Muhee.
He was gazing much farther away.
To a very distant place.
“Send a message to the Mudaeng.”
And then he smiled.
Blood Demon felt it.
That paradise was not far from coming.
“It seems I can proceed with things a bit faster.”
