    512 (Part 2)

As I was rolling my eyes around trying to come up with a solution.

    “How did you find it?”

    My father asked.

    “Y-yes…?”

“It would have been impossible as long as the Fire Wheel Star is maintained.”

    Fire Wheel Star?

His words reminded me of the small sun floating in the sky.

Is that what they call the Fire Wheel Star?

    That means…

‘The reason I couldn’t sense anything was because of that.’

The story I had anticipated was indeed true. The power of the heart’s thoughts that Noya spoke of.

It was true that I couldn’t sense anything because of that.

“How did you find this place?”

“… I burned the ring to create a resonance.”

A strange light flickered in my father’s eyes upon hearing my answer.

“Resonance… So there was such a method.”

    ‘Huh?’

I flinched at the expression on my father’s face as he spoke.

    ‘… Is he smiling?’

For some reason it seemed like the corners of his mouth were slightly lifted.

But that moment of observing his expression was short-lived.

    “Well done.”

    “…!”

    My father suddenly praised me.

Just as I was about to feel good about it unexpectedly—

    Bang-!

    “Cough….”

My father clutched the face of the Heavenly Lord.

    Oh no!

    “Father…! Wait…!”

    Whoosh-!

A tremendous fire erupted emitting light.

The body of the Heavenly Lord was engulfed in flames.

Even if it was fire the color was too red. It was so dark that I wondered if such a red flame could even exist.

    ‘This is bad.’

I bit my lip as I watched. The Heavenly Lord was ultimately burning to death.

If he was engulfed in flames like that it was obvious he wouldn’t even be able to salvage his bones.

As I was panicking in this dizzying situation my father turned his gaze back toward me.

Our eyes met as I stood there with my mouth agape. Looking into my eyes my father said

    “Don’t worry he hasn’t died.”

    “… What?”

I had to make a strange expression at my father’s words.

Even now he was engulfed in an absurd fire and he hasn’t died…?

Perhaps it meant he would die soon but for now he was still alive. Something like that.

As I felt a slight cold sweat trickle down due to his somewhat grim tone.

“He’s covered in unnecessary things so I burned them away.”

My father explained as if providing additional context.

Unnecessary things? I still didn’t understand what he meant.

“Normally I would have burned him to death. But seeing your fiancé I will let it slide.”

    “… Ah.”

I belatedly recalled my father’s words.

That the Heavenly Lord was a member of the Namgung Clan.

I had momentarily forgotten in the midst of the situation.

‘Indeed… In that sense he shouldn’t have been killed.’

I thought about it but even if I had remembered would I have just left it be?

My mind which was cold contrary to the situation instinctively denied it.

    I knew I wouldn’t have done that.

He was already a bastard but I felt he had become even less human after his transformation.

Clearing away the nauseating sensation I asked my father.

    “… Father.”

    “Speak.”

“What happened to the Heavenly Lord and that old man…?”

    I pointed at Elder Il.

I had been holding back my breath unable to flee while watching the burning Heavenly Lord.

    “…”

My father’s eyes turned toward Elder Il.

Upon meeting his gaze Elder Il began to tremble.

“I heard that he poisoned you.”

I had to clench my fists at my father’s nonchalant words.

His words meant that he truly came because I had been poisoned.

I slightly turned my head away from the unfamiliar emotion that arose from that.

“… How did you know about that author? You haven’t been here long.”

This was something I hadn’t even told the Poison King yet.

I had intended to find out everything about Elder Il before mentioning it.

But how could my father be so certain about Elder Il?

In response to my question my father said

    “I didn’t know.”

    “What?”

    He gave an unexpected answer.

    “… What do you mean…?”

Just a moment ago he said that old man had poisoned me and now he says he doesn’t know?

“That’s quite different from what you just said…?”

In response to my confusion my father provided a deeper explanation.

“What I was certain of was that there was a culprit among the Elders of the Tang Clan. Therefore.”

    “… Therefore?”

“It was simply a matter of capturing all the Elders to check.”

    “…”

Hearing my father’s words made my head go blank.

    What did I just hear?

    So…

‘… Since I don’t know exactly who it is I just need to capture all the Elders?’

It was a chilling statement in many ways.

As I was trying to gather my dazed thoughts my father continued speaking while looking at Elder Il.

“It took half a day. That was the time spent tracking the presence of the Elders belonging to the Tang Clan.”

    Just half a day.

Only then did I understand why my father had suddenly gone somewhere.

The time spent remembering the presence of the Elders within the vast Tang Clan.

Was that the purpose of that time?

“I only came to find the one I suspected the most among them and third it seems your reaction confirms it.”

    “… Yes.”

As he spoke my father walked toward me.

“I sent a telepathy to the Poison King so he will arrive before long.”

    When did he send that?

“The flames of the Heavenly Lord will extinguish before the Poison King arrives so don’t worry about it.”

In other words it was a warning not to interfere.

I was already too frightened to think of interfering.

As my father slowly approached and finally arrived in front of me.

His cold gaze swept over my body.

Feeling that gaze I broke out in a cold sweat.

Just before I had made excuses about the Body Reformation.

What could I say about my current state?

    I regretted it involuntarily.

‘Damn it I shouldn’t have come if it was going to be like this.’

I should have quietly listened to my father and waited.

Now I was about to get scolded for doing something unnecessary.

There was nothing I could say in my defense.

My eyes began to shimmer with a bluish hue.

The blue tint in my hair the scales that had formed on my skin and my grown physique.

While I could attribute the size to the power of Body Reformation the rest of my appearance was something I couldn’t change.

As I pondered what kind of excuse to come up with I shut my eyes tightly at my father’s words.

No matter how I looked at it there was no answer.

Just as I was preparing to be scolded.

    “… Is that so.”

I slightly opened my eyes at the changed tone of voice.

The emotion I heard was so vivid.

It was an emotion I had never felt from my father until now.

In his voice which seemed the same as always I could clearly sense it.

    “You are indeed….”

    That emotion was unmistakably.

    “Your mother’s bloodline isn’t it?”

    It was nostalgia.
