Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 508 (Part 2)

508 (Part 2)
“… I will not entertain any bothersome questions. I came here in quite a foul mood.”
At the cold words of the Heavenly Lord Elder Il awkwardly smiled and moved his steps.
After passing a place littered with the corpses of demonic beasts a small table came into view.
It was a spot where an unusually large amount of blood had pooled.
As Elder Il approached the Heavenly Lord scrutinized the area with a puzzled expression.
There was something on the table.
What could it be?
The Heavenly Lord also walked over to that spot.
The moment he got closer to examine the object.
“…!”
The Heavenly Lord instinctively took a step back.
The object was a small gem.
A round gem radiating a brilliant light of pale green.
As he gazed at the dazzling light a thought of beauty crossed his mind but that was not why he had stepped back; it was because the poison and energy emanating from the gem were overwhelmingly potent.
Elder Il seemed to take pleasure in the Heavenly Lord’s reaction and spoke.
“What do you think?”
“… Is this the finished product?”
“Correct. This is… no it is the culmination of the beliefs held by the Tang Clan that the Poison Lord wished to create.”
The Poison Lord was the alias of the current Tang Clan Head’s grandfather a figure who had long since passed away.
Though he wanted to touch the gem the Heavenly Lord refrained from doing so.
While he was blocking it with qi it was not an object that someone lacking resistance to poison should handle.
Just how much energy must be mixed together to emit such a presence?
Moreover.
“To think they managed to create such an object.”
How did they go about making this?

Just by looking at the result the Heavenly Lord could not fathom how intense and brutal the process must have been.
The corpses of demonic beasts piled up behind?
That could only be a small part of it. There was no way such a small amount could gather this much energy.
As he calmly observed the gem Elder Il continued speaking.
“According to the agreement with the Mang Clan… I will send you the manufacturing method and materials separately.”
“And the usage method?”
“There is no specific usage method.”
Elder Il reached out and picked up the gem.
“It’s simply swallowed. If you do that…”
“You can become a Cheonmu body…?”
“That is the expectation but it is not yet confirmed.”
“Why is that?”
At the Heavenly Lord’s question Elder Il smiled.
“I have not yet confirmed whether it works properly after ingestion.”
“Then it cannot be a finished product?”
If it has not been properly tested it is not a finished product.
This was different from the agreement.
As he spoke the Heavenly Lord narrowed his eyes prompting Elder Il to hastily continue.
“The ratios have been properly adjusted. If the conditions are met it will definitely be a successful item.”
“Conditions?”
Conditions for using this.
That meant there were specific requirements.
Elder Il hiding his dry lips spoke to the Heavenly Lord.
“… The first condition is that it must be a woman who has not yet reached maturity.”
“Why is that?”
“What other test subjects have all caused side effects and died in explosions.”
How many experiments had they conducted?
The bitter tone was unsettling but the Heavenly Lord chose not to nitpick.
“The existence of a first condition implies there is a second right?”
“Correct. The second condition is… one must possess a vessel capable of withstanding the energy that transforms the body.”
“That’s a vague statement.”
One must be able to endure the energy contained in this gem.
Does that mean one must have the talent and physique for it?
The answer was somewhat ambiguous.
“I have a certain level of confidence in this. Moreover there is a suitable test subject available. It’s just that the situation has become a bit troublesome.”
After hearing Elder Il’s words the Heavenly Lord alternated his gaze between the gem and Elder Il.
He nodded slightly and said.

“Then let’s carry out the agreement once proper results are obtained.”
It was said that the item was not yet a proper result.
Since he could not be certain based solely on Elder Il’s words it was better to finish the task and discuss it again.
That was the Heavenly Lord’s response but Elder Il cautiously broached the subject.
“… So may I ask you for a favor?”
“Me?”
At Elder Il’s words the Heavenly Lord frowned.
“It’s just that we are at a point where the last task remains but unnecessary interference has arisen.”
“What do you mean?”
For a moment the Heavenly Lord’s irritation faded and he showed interest at the mention of interference.
Seeing this Elder Il felt relieved internally and opened his mouth again.
“Somehow a lowly creature from the Gu family has interfered with the work…”
“… Wait a moment.”
The Heavenly Lord suddenly interrupted Elder Il causing him to pause.
“Why do you… Is there something you find unsatisfactory…?”
“Silence.”
“…”
The Heavenly Lord silenced Elder Il and quietly surveyed somewhere. After concentrating for a while he spoke with a deeply furrowed brow.
“… Something is coming.”
“What…?”
At the Heavenly Lord’s words Elder Il’s eyes widened for a moment.
But soon he chuckled.
“That’s impossible. There are several formations and mechanisms laid out here… If someone were to approach I would have prepared to notice it.”
If someone were to enter through the entrance Elder Il had set up traps to ensure he would know.
Moreover he had layered formations to prevent detection.
In such a situation it was impossible for anyone to find the entrance.
Elder Il concluded that the Heavenly Lord must have been mistaken and he smiled as he spoke.
“It’s not the entrance.”
The Heavenly Lord was resolute.
“It’s not the entrance?”
Elder Il questioned the Heavenly Lord’s statement but the Heavenly Lord did not respond further.
He simply continued to gaze at something.
Elder Il while finding the Heavenly Lord’s behavior strange followed his gaze.
The ceiling.
What the Heavenly Lord was looking at was the strongly built ceiling.
The moment Elder Il’s gaze also reached there.
Kuuung-! Bang!
“…!”
As if waiting for this moment a tremendous sound echoed in Elder Il’s ears.
From above. It was the sound of something exploding and breaking from a distant place.
“What… what is happening?”
As Elder Il exclaimed in confusion the tremendous sound was gradually getting closer.
The speed was absurdly fast.
Kuuuuung-! Bang bang-!
Was it an illusion?
The closer the sound got the hotter the surroundings felt.
What on earth was happening?
In a brief moment where he could not grasp the situation properly.
The tremendous sound was already right in front of him.
And not long after that.
Kwaaaang-!
The ceiling burst open and collapsed.
In the sudden explosion Elder Il leaped to evade.
Thud thud thud….
As the ceiling crumbled stone fragments scattered.
Amidst that something else was also flowing down.
Elder Il frowned as he observed it.
“What is that…?”
He could see something slowly dripping through the gap in the broken ceiling.
Elder Il realized too late.
That was the sign of the ceiling melting away.
Hooook…!
The air around became hot.
It was heat so intense it felt suffocating.
Then.
Tremble tremble.
‘… What is this….’
Elder Il realized that his hands were trembling uncontrollably.
Not just his hands but his entire body was shaking.
Why was his body trembling so much? Just as Elder Il was filled with tension at this unexpected situation.
Thud.
Amidst the swirling dust the sound of footsteps could be heard. As Elder Il turned his gaze toward it.
He saw it.
He clearly saw it.
Amidst the thickly rising dust a pair of eyes were looking this way.
Eyes that seemed to burn everything with their crimson hue.
The body that had been trembling until just now became rigid the moment it met that gaze.
‘Why is this happening…!’
As he struggled to move his unresponsive body with all his might.
Whoosh-!
In an instant a gust of wind blew clearing away the smoke around.
In the situation where everything that had been obscured vanished Elder Il finally confirmed the owner of the eyes.
Just like the red eyes that had been watching him earlier a man with red hair stained crimson.
He wore a martial arts uniform adorned with golden patterns.
Though he appeared expressionless at first glance Elder Il could sense the immense rage emanating from him.
Who was this sudden intruder?
As Elder Il’s mind raced rapidly.
The man stared at the frozen Elder Il and spoke.
“I found you.”
At that moment.
Crack.
Elder Il’s legs were pulled out from under him.
