Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 505 (Part 2)

505 (Part 2)
“That’s a relief.”
With a soft step Gu Cheol-woon took another step forward.
As he approached Baek Ryeon-gum felt an overwhelming urge to run away.
The wall she thought she had built up layer by layer.
The emotions she had stored inside unable to erase.
She had thought that the wall had become a bit sturdier but now with this trivial meeting and conversation it had cracked in an instant.
She had to escape.
It was dangerous. Staying any longer was perilous.
Yes let’s run away right now. She knew it wasn’t polite but it felt like something terrible would happen if she stayed any longer.
Baek Ryeon-gum who was ready to burst out her qi and attempt to flee stood still.
She had to become contemplative at the sensation felt at her toes.
Her feet felt like stone unable to move.
As if someone had grabbed her.
‘… No.’
Baek Ryeon-gum soon realized that it was her own lingering attachment.
But it was already too late.
Gu Cheol-woon was already standing right in front of her.
“Um.”
His gaze as he looked at Baek Ryeon-gum was strange.
He was not looking into her eyes but rather at the side of her ear.
Swish.
Gu Cheol-woon’s large hand moved toward the direction he was looking.
Baek Ryeon-gum wanted to twist her body to evade the approaching hand but her body hardened like stone couldn’t even do that.
Rustle.
The tips of his fingers brushed past Baek Ryeon-gum’s hair.

As his hand passed he held a leaf.
“I apologize.”
“…”
“This was stuck to you.”
Without any particular emotion Gu Cheol-woon burned the leaf away.
Was that the problem?
As she watched the leaf turn to ash and disappear a sound echoed within Baek Ryeon-gum.
Crash—!
The sound of a thick wall collapsing in an instant.
The fortress wall where Baek Ryeon-gum had diligently piled up her emotions crumbled.
Then the shameful feelings that had been trapped inside surged out and overwhelmed Baek Ryeon-gum.
A massive tidal wave.
Perhaps it was because they had been bound for so long. The force was much stronger.
Waves crashed. The currents flowed and in an instant the sea was formed.
“…”
Feeling that Baek Ryeon-gum was certain.
‘… I’m screwed.’
She realized that she could no longer return to how things were before.
******************
At the time when the sun set and the twilight appeared.
I was sitting in my quarters facing Dang Deok. He was half-kneeling with his head bowed. The veins on his neck were bulging proving that it was not by his own will.
Looking at him I asked.
“So what happened?”
“… First the Elder has returned…”
“Without a word?”
“… Yes….”
It seemed that he disliked using honorifics as his eyes were filled with discontent.
Of course I didn’t care about that.
‘So he just left.’
The Elder of the Tang Clan just left after being blocked by Dang Deok?
Why was that? I had to recall the strange expression on his face as I listened.
I turned my gaze to the object on the table.
It was the tea leaves taken from the Elder.
‘He said he just gave them away.’
They were originally meant for Dang So-yeol and Dang Deok had brought them back.
I heard that Dang So-yeol was excited to give them to me as an excuse.
‘Hmm.’

There were many parts I couldn’t understand.
I reached out.
Vroom—! A small vibration spread and the bundle of tea leaves floated into the air approaching me.
Psychokinesis.
The power I could use after reaching the realm of transformation.
It devoured qi like crazy but the cost-effectiveness was utterly terrible.
I grabbed the tea leaves and examined them.
“This isn’t it.”
Just before I was about to leave for solitary training I had called Dang Deok and given him orders.
To guard Dang So-yeol and stop anyone suspicious from approaching.
The condition was to block all access that I had not permitted.
In the past few days I had roamed the Tang Clan and filtered out a few individuals.
Since everyone was suspicious I had only selected those I deemed relatively okay.
The order was to block all other individuals from approaching.
‘When I heard it from Nahyi I thought maybe.’
As soon as the paralysis poison was created the Elder sought out Dang So-yeol.
And handed over the tea leaves.
Could this really be a coincidence?
I didn’t think so.
Especially considering what Dang Je-mun had said.
‘Dang So-yeol is involved.’
That meant the Elder was planning to do something through Dang So-yeol.
“…”
I put the tea leaves in my mouth and chewed them.
Crunch.
The unique texture of the dry leaves spread an unpleasant sensation.
Ignoring it I chewed and swallowed.
“… What is this?”
Then my doubts grew. The tea leaves didn’t seem to have any poison in them.
Was the paralysis poison not contained here?
Or was it not aimed at Dang So-yeol?
Questions crossed my mind. Also.
‘What a pity.’
A sense of regret passed through me.
If there had been paralysis poison in here I would have had a reason to capture and kill him.
‘So he’s not that foolish huh?’
If he had mixed poison he wouldn’t have thought to personally deliver the tea leaves.
‘In the meantime.’
I wondered how much the Elder knew about Nahyi.
Since Nahyi was still useful I had planned to use her forcibly.
But if it seemed like there would be a problem…
‘Should I deal with it in advance?’
That might be better. It wasn’t urgent but it would be better than dealing with a hassle later.
As I made that judgment and looked at Dang Deok.
He was staring at me with a distorted face. Seeing that I chuckled and asked.
“What’s with that look?”
“… What exactly are you planning to do?”
“Um?”
“After sticking me to that detestable Tang Clan woman what exactly do you intend to do…?”
“What do you mean what do I intend to do? I told you clearly. I said to guard her didn’t I?”
“… Grit.”
Dang Deok gritted his teeth.
Seeing that I couldn’t help but admire him a little.
‘Still resisting huh?’
I had clearly suppressed him with my energy. Yet Dang Deok could still show such emotions toward me.
It was quite fascinating.
Was it because he was mixed with the body and soul of a demonic beast? It felt like the coercion wasn’t working properly.
‘Then I should trample him a bit.’
This guy was useful.
He wasn’t someone I could just discard like Nahyi.
He was someone I would eventually have to kill but for now I needed to make use of him.
To do that I needed to step on him a bit to use him obediently.
‘It’s about time I should start pressing him down.’
Should I do it now? Yes I was getting a bit bored so it worked out well.
Thinking that I stood up.
Immediately raising my energy I moved toward Dang Deok.
Bang—!
Suddenly the door to my quarters burst open and someone rushed in.
“… Huh?”
I widened my eyes as soon as I saw who it was. The unexpected intruder was none other than Baek Ryeon-gum.
That woman according to Mo Yong-hee was said to be wandering outside so what was going on all of a sudden?
And then.
‘… Why does her face look like that?’
Her face was as red as a ripe apple. Did she start drinking since the afternoon?
As I squinted and stared at her Baek Ryeon-gum quickly approached me as soon as she saw me.
“Hey!”
“… What’s going on?”
In a somewhat rough reaction I was taken aback when Baek Ryeon-gum tightly grabbed my shoulder.
“Do you need one more mother?”
“… What what do you mean?”
She blurted out a crazy remark I never expected.
