    495 (Part 1)

”’Chapter 496 – Just Give Me a Grip Once.

    Mudaeng Gwaeseon.

He is a renowned master produced by the Mudaeng sect often regarded as the most bizarre figure.

He was a disciple of the current Mudaeng Sect Leader and he is always mentioned when discussing the masters of Mudaeng.

Over a decade ago he fought against the infamous Hyuk Eochun of the Samao sect and defeated him.

Like the Sword Queen he single-handedly thwarted a major demonic incident that occurred in a civilian area.

Based on these accomplishments there was a time when he almost contended for the position of Sword King against the current Sword King Namgung Jin.

However due to the layers of his bizarre actions he ultimately could not secure his name in that position. Gwaeseon has an extreme aversion to helping others and despite being called a sage he enjoys meat and alcohol.

Contrary to the serene flow that the Mudaeng sect advocates his actions are rough and unpredictable.

Just moments before he could be laughing heartily but for some unknown reason he would draw his sword and slaughter his opponent.

Later it was revealed that his opponent was a lecher who had been assaulting numerous women in the civilian area which quelled the controversy.

However even after this incident Gwaeseon often caused inexplicable disturbances leading to rumors that the Mudaeng sect did not want to keep him and had expelled him.

He possesses exceptional strength and skill.

While he shows chivalrous behavior by helping the poor he also often displays a messy side that is uncharacteristic of a sage.

Thus people referred to him as Gwaeseon.

    However.

This situation was somewhat unfair for Mudaeng Gwaeseon… or rather for Namgung Hyung.

The reason he was labeled as such a mess was largely due to the foul-tempered old man within him.

Namgung Hyung had experienced many hardships in life.

Among them the most significant event was when he finally captured the Neua.

    – I found it.

An unknown stick located at the center of the Namgung Clan’s treasure storage.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Namgung Hyung’s life was turned upside down at that moment.

    – It is you. The will of heaven to revive the Namgung Clan.

He remembers the voice that pierced his ears as he grasped the stick with his blood-stained hands.

How could he forget the voice that spoke with such yearning from a weary body?

To Namgung Hyung who asked roughly who it was the Neua replied at that time.

    – I am called Namgung Myung.

    – Who you are does not matter. As long as you carry the blood of the Namgung Clan it does not matter what you become.

    Namgung Myung.

When Namgung Hyung raised his head at the name he had heard somewhere the Neua which had been placed on the table gradually began to emit light.

    – Seize it.

    – Seize the Neua and carry on my will. And thus.

    – Let us revive the fallen Namgung.

The young Namgung Hyung could not understand what this meant.

The Namgung Clan still regarded as a prestigious family among the four great families.

What exactly had fallen and how could it be revived from here?

Namgung Hyung could not comprehend a single word of Namgung Myung’s speech.

    Nevertheless he seized the Neua.

    There was only one reason.

He felt that if he grasped the Neua he might be able to escape from this terrifying and disgusting family.

Caught up in that inexplicable sensation Namgung Hyung seized the Neua.

    Fortunately.

Namgung Hyung was able to escape the Namgung Clan.

    However.

That was not the complete intention of Namgung Myung.

Once again noon arrived without fail.

As always Namgung Hyung was swinging his sword vigorously sitting on a rock filling his empty stomach.

Just as he was about to shove a handful of rice balls into his mouth.

[How long do you intend to be stubborn?]

A cold voice reached Namgung Hyung’s ears.

This was also a familiar occurrence in his daily life.

    [Isn’t this enough?]

Delaying his response Namgung Hyung put the remaining rice into his mouth and drank water to swallow it all down.

Once three rice balls were in he finally felt a bit full.

Just as he was about to enjoy a moment of tranquility.

[What your grandfather said last time I do not particularly like but I do not think it is bad.]

    “… Hah….”

He tried hard to ignore it but ultimately he had no choice but to respond.

Is it because he is a spirit that he never tires?

    “I don’t think it’s me being stubborn.”

“Old man how long must you be stubborn? As I said from the beginning I have no intention of returning to that family.”

[How can the blood of the Namgung Clan say it will not return to the Namgung Clan?]

“If it annoys you just leave. What will the family collapse without me?”

[Yes it will collapse and that is why I say this.]

    “That’s ridiculous.”

Namgung Hyung had to laugh helplessly at Namgung Myung’s resolute words.

“Old man. If the family would collapse without me then it might as well collapse.”

    [You brat…!]

“It feels like your words are holding me back. Give it up. If I were going to be swayed by such words I would have been swayed long ago.”

He recalled the words his grandfather Cheonjon had said when he visited.

If he returned to the Namgung Clan he might be given the position of Clan Head?

Thinking of his half-brother who had struggled to secure that position Namgung Hyung couldn’t help but curl his lips.

‘That position could be taken away with just a gesture from my grandfather so what does it matter?’

He had no interest. Even if a knife were to pierce his tongue Namgung Hyung had no intention of returning to the Namgung Clan.

The problem was that the Mudaeng sect was also starting to call him back and with Cheonjon doing this it was just becoming a nuisance.

    ‘I should move soon.’

It had been a year since he settled in Sichuan.

He thought he had quietly established himself without anyone knowing

How did they find out and come looking for him?

‘It can’t be that the disciple blabbed.’

He believed that no one especially Woo Hyuk would spread rumors about him.

‘In any case it’s becoming a hassle.’

He had intended to stay here for another year or two since it was a reasonably good location.

But now that Cheonjon had come it seemed he had to leave for another place.

Where should he go this time?

    ‘How about the North Sea?’

Not a bad idea. It was a place he had wanted to visit at least once. A frozen land where orthodox and unorthodox do not interfere.

It was a very good land to leave leisurely.

    [Descendant.]

As he pondered his plans Namgung Myung spoke up.

Namgung Hyung let out a slight snort and replied.

“As we initially agreed. I will properly complete your sword and hand it over to the Namgung Clan. That is why I am working day and night on my swordsmanship.”

    [….]

“If you expect more than that then just leave me alone will you? If I say I will return it to the family you will be delighted.”

Namgung Hyung spat out with annoyance and only then did the Neua stop vibrating.

Feeling that Namgung Hyung sighed inwardly.

He understood Namgung Myung’s intentions and having received help from him was trying to comprehend that will.

However embodying that and putting it into practice was not something he could do.

    Nor did he want to.

Having thought that far Namgung Hyung tried to change the subject.

“Anyway. Will you not tell me what happened last time until the end?”

[… What matter are you referring to?]”’
