    493 (Part 1)

**Chapter 494 – Just Give It to Me Once.**

A radiant white stone placed on the table.

At first glance it seemed to exude no energy and appeared to be an ordinary gem.

However this was currently the strongest grade of demonic beast recorded in the Central Plains.

It was a remnant left by the highest-tier demonic beast that emerged from there.

    The so-called White Stone.

At this point it contained an energy that could not even be compared to the blue demonic beasts or the red demonic beasts that had begun to crawl out.

In terms of energy alone including the Poisonous Heaven Pill I possessed

it contained an enormous energy that was not inferior even when compared to Shaolin’s Great Cycle Pill.

However in the current Central Plains

and also in the future there would be no appearance of a white-grade demonic beast so it could be said that there was no way to obtain the White Stone.

This thing in front of me.

I was solely thinking that this was the only remaining White Stone.

Originally I had planned to consume it as soon as I obtained it.

‘I was too busy to have the time.’

I had no time because I had been wandering around here and there right after returning.

It was something I needed to stabilize my incomplete realm so there was no urgency in the current situation.

I had saved it thinking I would use it someday not necessarily now.

‘I never thought I would use it like this.’

I never imagined I would use it for such a purpose.

Shin Yi was staring at the White Stone placed on the table as if he were almost glaring at it.

Could it be that he was wondering if this was what he thought it was?

    “… This is.”

“Yes it is the White Stone.”

    “…!”

As I spoke with certainty Shin Yi’s eyes widened like lanterns.

“If you don’t believe me there’s nothing I can do. This is indeed the White Stone.”

If it were someone else they might not know but I would never mistake a stone.

The energy from the Demonic Heaven Absorption Technique in my body was informing me.

“… Why do you have this… this?”

“Someone gave it to me. To use.”

    “What?”

At my words Shin Yi glared at me in disbelief.

    But it was true.

It was a gift from the Heavenly Demon so it was indeed a present but Shin Yi seemed unable to believe it.

Whether he believed it or not was irrelevant.

What mattered was that I had the White Stone.

“I’ll ask again. You said you needed this Shin Yi. Do you need it?”

    “…”

Shin Yi’s eyes trembled at my words.

I did not rush him for an answer and quietly watched him. I should not rush him.

That would only indicate my urgency and that should not happen.

I waited silently for his response.

After a few seconds had passed.

    “… Alright.”

Shin Yi managed to respond with difficulty.

    Good.

It seemed I had lightly passed the first hurdle.

Hiding my true feelings I wore a shallow smile and spoke.

“If you need it I can give it to you.”

I could give him the White Stone I possessed.

When I said that I thought Shin Yi would be delighted but he did not seem so.

Instead discomfort was evident in his slightly furrowed brows.

Seeing this it seemed Shin Yi understood.

‘The fact that I am simply offering the White Stone.’

It meant that I had other intentions regarding him.

“What do you want from me?”

As expected Shin Yi asked me.

From this two things could be inferred.

Rather than asking what my purpose was he asked what I wanted.

It was as if he was inquiring about my desires without knowing what I might need.

‘Shin Yi is determined to take the White Stone no matter what.’

I could tell he would never give up the White Stone in front of him.

    Why was that?

For someone like me who could not absorb the energy of the stone with the Demonic Heaven Absorption Technique

the White Stone was nothing more than a white rock lying around.

Yet why was Shin Yi so fixated on the White Stone?

    ‘It doesn’t matter.’

I didn’t know the reason but it was irrelevant.

I could learn about it from now on.

“I have something I want to ask you Shin Yi. If you can answer it well I can give you this White Stone. I don’t particularly need it.”

Saying that I didn’t need it was of course a lie.

With dozens of Poisonous Heaven Pills in my possession I could afford to let it go. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have been able to do so.

    “Answer?”

    “Yes.”

    “…”

Shin Yi did not respond to my words.

In this silence it seemed to imply a positive response.

Feeling that I took a moment to breathe and spoke my first question.

“First of all I want to know why you need the White Stone.”

    “…”

“While it may be rare in terms of efficacy it is just a useless rock. Why do you need it?”

Why did Shin Yi need the White Stone?

Despite his reputation in the Central Plains he did not seem to have a greed for wealth. He appeared to be solely dedicated to medicine.

Why did he need the White Stone? I was curious about that.

“If I don’t answer what will happen?”

“It doesn’t particularly matter but the White Stone you intended to give as a gift will probably disappear.”

    That was a clear threat.

It was a threat that if he didn’t answer he wouldn’t receive it.

    “Hah you’re clever.”

“I’m sorry. I have my reasons too.”

To be honest I did want to give Shin Yi something.

But my situation was not good for that.

It wasn’t a matter of trusting someone or not.

It meant that there were too many people I wanted to protect and I was too busy thinking only of them.

    “…”

Seemingly deep in thought Shin Yi stared at the White Stone.

He then bit his lip slightly and slowly began to speak.

“… I will use it for my grandson.”

“Your grandson you mean Jeong Hyuk?”

    “Yes.”

He was going to use the White Stone on Jeong Hyuk?

I had to tilt my head at Shin Yi’s words.

This was neither a medicinal herb nor a elixir; to an ordinary person it was just a rock. How did he plan to use it on Jeong Hyuk?

“What do you intend to do with it?”

    “I will open his throat.”

    “Excuse me?”

He was going to open the throat of the mute Jeong Hyuk?

    “… I don’t quite understand.”

How on earth did he plan to do that with the White Stone? No matter how I thought about it I couldn’t comprehend.

“… Is this something I also have to answer?”

“Yes. I just can’t understand it if I let it go.”

“If I were to lie what would you do?”

“I doubt you would but… then there’s nothing I can do.”

    “…”

I had no intention of doing anything if Shin Yi lied.

This was merely a ridiculous belief that he wouldn’t do so.

    “…”

Perhaps my response was unexpected but Shin Yi’s expression became even more uncomfortable.

“If you really can’t do it then I’ll just ask something else….”

“The reason my grandson cannot speak is not a physical issue.”

    “Huh?”

Not being able to speak is not a physical issue?

“That’s not it. What do you mean by that?”

“To be precise it is part of a ‘curse.’”

    “A curse.”

It was a word I had heard before.

I had heard that it was a technique used by the unorthodox sects particularly by those in the Daoist faction.

They said it was very inefficient? It consumed a lot of qi and even if one became a top-tier practitioner it wouldn’t work so only a few used it.

    ‘A curse…? Then.’

I recalled Cheon Yu-rang from my previous life.

He was a madman who wore a mask and hid his smile with a fan but he was not mute like Jeong Hyuk.

I thought that the Heavenly Demon had somehow helped him regain his voice.

Was the method he used to lift the curse that Shin Yi mentioned?

“So you mean you need the White Stone to lift that curse?”

    “… Yes.”

    “Why?”

    “I cannot say that much.”

    “Okay.”

I nodded at Shin Yi’s response.

That did not mean I understood.

I simply thought that I would have to give up on this part.

    ‘Something is entangled here.’

Despite Shin Yi’s prickly personality he was someone who extremely disliked harming or causing trouble to those around him.

From his response it seemed that answering this would lead to some kind of problem.

Then a momentary flash of someone’s face crossed my mind.

Cheol Ji-seon; suddenly the relationship between him and Shin Yi came to mind.

‘This is not something to ask about.’

This was not something I should inquire about.

This was something I needed to ask Cheol Ji-seon.

The person I needed to hear from was already determined.

Having thought that far I spoke to Shin Yi.

“I understand. I will let this part go.”

    “…”

At my words Shin Yi let out a shallow sigh of relief.

“The next thing I want to ask is about my physical condition.”

    “My physical condition? Last time….”

“Yes you said I was on the verge of breaking my vessel soon. Recently I broke my vessel and then remade it.”

“… What? Wait what did you just say?”

Shin Yi’s reaction was intense at my nonchalant words.

“You broke your vessel and remade it?”

“Yes it just happened that way.”

“What on earth happened for that to occur?”

“Well I find it quite amazing myself.”

I had no words to say as it was something I had not anticipated.

From Shin Yi’s perspective it would be shocking to hear someone he had given a death sentence to would suddenly say they had died and come back to life just a few days later.

“No what on earth…? Just show me your hand. I need to see it in person.”

“I’ll give it to you later…. I would like you to make a promise regarding this part.”

    “What?”

“No matter what you see from my body I want you to promise to keep your mouth shut.”

    “…!”

Did he sense something unusual? Shin Yi’s expression stiffened slightly.

    “Will you do that?”

Even if he sensed something there would be no other answer from Shin Yi.

    “… I understand.”

As long as the White Stone was in front of him Shin Yi was in a subordinate position.

    “Thank you.”

Of course it wasn’t that I wasn’t concerned about Shin Yi’s demeanor.

To be honest I had no ill feelings toward Shin Yi. Rather I only had good feelings toward him.
