    484 (Part 1)

**Chapter 485 – The Strange Immortal.**

The Thunder Heaven Sword Namgung Myung.

One of the five heroes who stopped the Blood Demon.

The strongest martial artist in the history of the Namgung Clan.

With just a gesture the sky would fill with dark clouds and it is said that a light scolding would cause thunder to roar.

    His other alias was.

    ‘Was it the Thunder God?’

It was something passed down only through records.

I hadn’t particularly sought to learn more about it so I didn’t know the details.

Of course after realizing that they were still alive in this world and intertwined with my affairs I did look into it a bit.

If I were to consider only the remaining records.

‘It was unreasonable to call them all human.’

It was merely tales passed down as legends.

It was said that the poison emitted by the Divine Document could fill an entire region.

That with a single punch the merciful nature of Cheol Yeong erased mountains.

That the anger of the Thunder God shook the heavens.

Adding to that were the stories of Shin Noya and Yeon Il Cheon which only increased in number never decreased.

Each one was a tale that made one wonder if such monsters truly existed.

I was so frustrated that I didn’t want to read any more records.

Did I think they were just rumors? If that were the case it would have been easier to accept.

    The reason was simple.

‘Five such beings gathered and all they accomplished was a seal?’

The Blood Demon War left a terrible mark.

People would think that the heroes had stopped it but.

In reality they had merely sealed it and the Blood Demon was still roaming freely.

Even the Heavenly Demon was overwhelming yet those five couldn’t properly stop the Blood Demon.

As I looked at the legends of the heroes I was infuriated at the thought that I might have to deal with what they couldn’t accomplish.

    Anyway…

I could think about such matters later.

I needed to focus on the statement that Shin Noya had just made.

    ‘Namgung Myung?’

    I looked straight ahead.

Disheveled white hair filled with dust.

When I lifted the bangs that were covering his face I finally saw his brilliant blue eyes.

Among the people I had seen so far he was one of the most strikingly handsome middle-aged men.

In terms of looks he surpassed even the renowned Cheongcheon Sword King Namgung Jin.

Seeing such a man I thought.

‘… The Wudang Strange Immortal… was born from the Namgung Clan?’

There was only one place in the Central Plains with such distinctive features.

    The great Namgung Clan.

Only that place and the Wudang Strange Immortal bore those characteristics abundantly.

Much more pronounced than the Clan Head who was referred to as a blood relative or Namgung Bia.

I asked Noya who was in this bewildering situation.

‘Noya… What did you mean by that?’

[… What do you mean “what did I mean”? It’s the literal meaning.]

‘The Wudang Strange Immortal looks just like the Thunder Heaven Sword?’

[Yes. It looks eerily identical. Though the filthy appearance is different.]

Hearing that I looked at the Strange Immortal again.

    A remarkably handsome face.

A chilling demeanor was evident but his eyes looked tired and his face seemed devoid of luck.

I began to understand why Shin Noya referred to him as a hopeless case whenever he mentioned Namgung Myung.

After pondering for a moment about what to do I first clasped my hands in greeting.

At the very least I had to offer my respects.

“… I meet the senior of the Wudang.”

    “Gu Ga?”

The Wudang Strange Immortal’s eyes lit up with interest upon hearing my introduction.

“I see. You’re the one making a fuss these days.”

“… Yes. I am Gu Yang Cheon.”

I didn’t know in what sense I was making a fuss but the figure he was referring to was likely me.

Since I had been spreading rumors non-stop in the Murim Alliance it was only natural that it would be noisy.

    “Hmm.”

The Strange Immortal’s gaze swept over my body.

    His eyes clearly showed curiosity.

After staring at me for a moment the Strange Immortal chuckled and said.

“When I first heard the rumors… I thought the Alliance’s lunatics were up to something.”

    “…!”

I was surprised by his unexpectedly sharp words.

I never thought there would be another madman in this era who would call the Murim Alliance lunatics besides me.

[So you knew you weren’t in your right mind.]

… It was also surprising that the Strange Immortal had noticed that they were up to something.

Just as I was astonished by the Strange Immortal he seemed equally surprised by me.

“I didn’t expect the rumors to be this outrageous.”

“I’m grateful for your kind view….”

I had been hiding my level to some extent.

It seemed he had confirmed it to some degree when I displayed my movement arts earlier.

After complimenting me the Strange Immortal stroked his chin a few times and said.

    “This is bad.”

He muttered something strange while looking at Woo Hyuk.

    “What do you mean?”

Woo Hyuk replied as if he was used to the Strange Immortal’s behavior and the Strange Immortal chuckled and said.

“I thought this era would be one you could sweep through.”

    “Me? You mean I?”

Woo Hyuk looked taken aback by his master’s words.

“With someone like this around it seems that’s not going to happen. Just give up.”

“Haha why are you saying this? I never expected anything in the first place. Why would I bother with such a hassle? It’s more beneficial to sleep during that time.”

“… You’re still as lazy as ever. At least show some spirit for your master’s sake.”

“Master you’re not exactly a paragon of spirit yourself.”

    “That’s true.”

    Hahaha-!

After a lively conversation the two suddenly burst into laughter.

Seeing that I couldn’t help but smile wryly.

I wondered where Woo Hyuk’s strange personality came from and there was a perfect match right there.

    [Hmm.]

It seemed Shin Noya also found it strange as he let out a tired voice.

[… Their faces are identical but their personalities are completely different.]

‘Is the Thunder Heaven Sword really that different?’

He said their faces were the same.

But it seemed their personalities were quite different.

[If it were him he wouldn’t use such a tone. He wouldn’t have been seen in such a shabby state in the first place.]

Shin Noya’s voice was filled with an unknown firmness.

[He was the type who would throw a fit if even a speck of dust touched him. He was so obsessed with cleanliness that he once threw me into a muddy puddle.]

    ‘What?’

[Do you know how fierce it was when he genuinely came at me saying he would kill me back then? Hahaha. Anyway he was a narrow-minded fellow. A martial artist should be able to get a little dirt on them. Tsk tsk.]

    ‘…’

No matter how I looked at it it felt like Shin Noya was the one being unreasonable rather than narrow-minded.

It was more certain that the two didn’t seem to have a good relationship.

‘Just from hearing about their personalities I can tell they are different from the Strange Immortal.’

Conversely the fact that they looked identical meant they were not entirely different.

After waiting for the two to laugh for a while when things quieted down a bit I spoke to the Strange Immortal.

    “Um… Senior.”

    “Yes?”

“Excuse me but… is it true that Namgung….”

    “Ah.”

As I was about to ask the Strange Immortal waved his hand as if he immediately understood what I was going to ask.

“It was like that in the past. But not anymore so don’t worry about it.”

It was like that in the past but not anymore…

    It seemed something had happened.

‘At least it’s true that he’s from the Namgung Clan.’

    Ah.

    ‘So the Thunder Eye…?’

Now that I realized that I finally understood why the Wudang Strange Immortal was the current owner of the Thunder Eye.

The Thunder Eye which is a symbol of the Namgung Clan and is referred to as an important treasure.

I had wondered how it ended up in the hands of someone outside the clan.

‘Was it because the Strange Immortal was originally from the Namgung Clan?’

It was rare for someone born from a prestigious family to leave their home and join another clan but it wasn’t unheard of.

In the past there had been blood relatives from the Moyong Clan or Peng Clan who had made names for themselves in other clans.

    However.

‘Why is the Strange Immortal not well-known?’

If he were a Wudang Sect martial artist from the Namgung Clan it would have been normal for his name to have been heard.

This was something that would have been worth spreading rumors about in a prestigious family.

If it were the Wudang they would have spread rumors about how great it was for a blood relative of the four great families to come to Wudang.

And if it were the Namgung Clan they would have boasted about how their blood relative had become great.

Politics and rumors are originally like that.

It was standard practice to package and inflate their own achievements and there was no better kindling than this so it was only natural to use it.

Yet the Wudang Strange Immortal was only famous by alias. The fact that he was from the Namgung Clan was not known.

‘Even with such a striking appearance.’

It was a feature that couldn’t be unknown.

It was strangely devoid of rumors.

‘Moreover…. even though he possesses the Thunder Eye why hasn’t the Namgung Clan retrieved it?’

    This was the biggest question.

The rumor that the Wudang Strange Immortal possessed the Thunder Eye had spread albeit not widely.

Since the Thunder Eye was a symbol of the Namgung Clan it would have been natural for them to retrieve it since the Strange Immortal belonged to Wudang and had become an outsider.

Yet for some reason the Namgung Clan had not taken such action.

    ‘I don’t understand why not?’

It could be said that the Clan Head or his son were both foolish but still being a prestigious family they should have some sense.

Seeing that they were deliberately not taking action it seemed there was some circumstance involved.

While I was lost in thought about various issues.

“Ah even if you tell me not to worry.”

The Strange Immortal spoke to me as if he had realized something.

“You might have a hard time huh?”

    “Yes?”

    What does that mean?

“I heard you’re engaged. Is that not true?”

    “Ah….”

I wondered what he was talking about and it seemed he was referring to Namgung Bia.

“It’s a bit hard to say not to worry but really with that place now….”
