Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 460 (Part 2)

460 (Part 2)
A lightning bolt struck from the void binding his feet.
“Graaaah!”
He screamed as his body was scorched by the lightning.
In response the Heavenly Demon observed him closely. Then he nodded briefly.
This was enough.
Srrng.
As he adjusted his grip the Heavenly Demon’s focus shifted.
And then.
A sword sharply emerged in his mind.
No it wasn’t sharp. It had become dull and worn due to the inner demons.
For now this was sufficient.
Even if his movements had slowed and his qi had diminished somewhat.
The Heavenly Demon did not entertain the possibility of defeat.
He only sought to gather information about the creature he still did not understand.
“Kyahhh!”
While the creature thrashed about in the lightning letting out a mighty roar.
The Heavenly Demon aligned his sword with his body. This single sword was not in the realm of qi or mastery.
It was solely in the realm of enlightenment as a swordsman.
A sword that had accumulated the wisdom of a lifetime spent training as a genius swordsman.
It was clear that a mere creature disguised as a human could not withstand it.
‘This is where the games end.’
The fact that he had been struck even once was painful but the Heavenly Demon tried to forget it for a moment.
Now was not the time to deal with that creature.
His last bloodline lying alone beneath the tree and closing her eyes.
The old man still had matters to attend to with her.

Kyaaaahhh—!!
With the creature continuously screaming the Heavenly Demon closed his eyes aiming for its neck.
As he closed his eyes a thick darkness enveloped him. Within that darkness the Heavenly Demon found a ray of light.
He could see it. Though blurred by the inner demons a beam of light was clearly visible.
A point that could only be seen with closed eyes.
The Heavenly Demon slowly lowered his sword towards that point.
Then his arm began to tremble.
It was a force shot forth solely based on his heart’s mirror which made it all the more intense.
Kuwung—!
At that moment the clouds above were sliced in a straight line and light burst forth.
The sky opened.
The light that flew in from beyond the opened sky resembled a translucent sword.
A blade that seemed to have dulled and rusted over time.
Just looking at it filled one with awe.
The light gradually began to descend towards the creature.
If it were to strike the ground like this it would possess enough power to obliterate not just the neck but the entire surrounding area.
The Heavenly Demon aimed for that very outcome.
He considered the possibility that the neck might not be the weak point and thought of a way to erase that regeneration in one blow.
After casting the martial arts the Heavenly Demon slowly opened his eyes.
He then took a breath while watching the light fall from the void.
“It’s over.”
He was certain.
He had used the ultimate technique of the heart sword based on extreme enlightenment.
He had only seen two people withstand this power until now.
One was the Sword Master.
The other was the Heavenly Demon.
Unless it was one of those two it was impossible to endure this power. The Heavenly Demon was confident.
And so.
Kuwuuung—!
The light that slowly fell from the sky landed precisely at the point the Heavenly Demon had aimed for.
Kwaaaahhh—!!
A tremendous sound erupted and smoke soared high into the sky.
Shattered fragments overturned everything around. The pressure burst forth causing dry trees to lean as if they would be uprooted.
An immense shock.
Seeing the energy erupting the Heavenly Demon turned away.
It was over. If he had taken that level of power he would not have been able to endure it.
He needed to find traces so he would have to head that way later.

But the Heavenly Demon prioritized killing the Demon Sword Master.
He would quickly kill that child and attain peace.
It was the permission he had received for that.
Yes permission.
The Heavenly Demon had received permission.
To enter Sichuan and kill the youth and the Demon Sword Master…
Suddenly.
As he was moving the Heavenly Demon abruptly stopped.
He felt a dizzying sensation in his head.
‘… From whom?’
From whom did he receive such permission? Who had granted him permission?
It felt like he was on the verge of remembering yet nothing came to mind.
As if someone had intentionally taken part of his memory away.
“… What is this…?”
Just as the Heavenly Demon was about to lament his confusion.
Sarak.
“…!”
Startled by an energy he felt without thinking the Heavenly Demon turned around. The old man’s face was filled with horror.
‘What…?’
Why was he feeling energy?
That place was where the ultimate technique of the heart sword had fallen. There should be no life force felt there.
Woong—
The Heavenly Demon gripped his sword once more.
It was not an illusion.
He could still feel the energy.
‘Did he endure that?’
Could it be that he withstood that power? It was impossible.
If he had even endured this it would be more appropriate to call him immortal.
As the Heavenly Demon squinted and looked beyond.
Flarrr—
He felt the flames from earlier.
Flarrr—!
Blue flames rose again from afar.
The Heavenly Demon steadied his mind regarding the situation.
It seemed that it truly had not worked.
‘This is really annoying.’
If it came to this he would have to burn it all with all his might. Just as he resolved himself and began to gather his energy.
“… Life is.”
“…?”
“Truly a fucking mess.”
An unexpected curse erupted from within the flames.
“Damn it. I even found a place to take a shit. Now you want me to wipe your ass too? This is why I said not to raise black-haired beasts….”
“…”
With a somewhat rustic tone the Heavenly Demon frowned.
What is this? What kind of situation is this?
Feeling flustered he looked at the owner of the voice.
Tap tap.
Something approached slowly with a heavy step.
It was the figure from earlier.
So it was still alive. Then this voice must belong to that creature.
Its appearance was not much different from before.
It was still covered in something black resembling a shadow.
The only difference was that the hole in its chest was now bound.
And the flames were not rising high enough to engulf its body.
Watching the creature walk clumsily the Heavenly Demon asked.
“… What are you?”
What on earth is its identity that it shows such a bizarre appearance?
With that question in mind the Heavenly Demon spoke.
Hearing this the creature glanced at the Heavenly Demon and said.
“You’re just like that rude little brat.”
“…?”
It began to utter words that were incomprehensible.
Whether the Heavenly Demon understood or not.
The figure spoke with a voice laced with amusement.
“Double trouble is just unlucky.”
Flarrr. Flames erupted around it.
Was it an illusion?
The spreading embers somehow resembled petals.
“I wonder how it will taste.”
