Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 453 (Part 2)

453 (Part 2)
This was not important whatever it was.
“Are you asking me to come for that paradise you mentioned?”
[Well who knows.]
That meant he wouldn’t answer.
“… What makes you so sure I’ll grant your request?”
[If you remember our conversation you will surely want to find me. This is of no concern.]
Whether it was because of the word ‘paradise’ or some other reason I couldn’t tell.
The situation was already complicated enough with just the stories I had heard before.
‘What should I do?’
Was everything the Blood Demon had said so far true?
If not what was the intention behind the Blood Demon’s words?
Conversely if everything the Blood Demon said was true…
‘What should I do…?’
It was increasingly surpassing what I could handle.
Unlike when I had vowed to stop the Heavenly Demon’s bloodlust and ensure the peace of my loved ones.
Now I was realizing just how difficult and exhausting that was.
It was frustrating.
Living a normal and peaceful life was proving to be this hard. Truly it was nothing but a pathetic sentiment.
‘First… I need to find a way back to my original world.’
I also felt that this was not the time to be wallowing in the past.
I needed to sort things out and return to my original world immediately.
‘Shit….’
How did it come to this?
I felt completely entangled blinded by that damned Poison Sky Sect.
No could I say that just obtaining this information was a gain?

A question arose in my mind.
‘What if all of this is the trial that the Divine Document mentioned?’
What if everything I was experiencing now was part of the trial she spoke of?
Would everything the Blood Demon said become a lie?
‘Then that would be better.’
The words I had just heard were quite shocking so I would rather it be an illusion.
Thoughts swirled in my complicated mind.
Just as I was about to let out a sigh rubbing my tired forehead.
[If that is what you wish.]
The Blood Demon spoke to me.
[I can send you back to the world you originally belonged to right now.]
“…!”
My eyes widened at the nonchalant words.
What? He could send me back right now?
I looked up at him with wide eyes.
[If you truly wish for it.]
“Of course….”
Just as I was about to say it was obvious I suddenly clamped my mouth shut at a fleeting thought.
Is it really okay to receive the Blood Demon’s help to return to my original world beyond the existence of the Poison Sky Sect or the White Horse Stone?
Leaving aside the doubt of whether the Blood Demon would truly send me back to my original world it was a fundamental question.
[Hmm… You seem to be hesitating.]
“…”
[Is that hesitation doubt about me? Or is it your own lingering attachment?]
I bit my lip unconsciously at the Blood Demon’s words.
[Perhaps you have not fully shed your old self yet. It seems the immaturity of humanity still lingers within you.]
“Shut up.”
I spat out fiercely like a growl.
“I am human.”
[…]
Whether I had become a demonic practitioner or something was sprouting within me I was still human.
I wanted to abandon everything but I couldn’t bring myself to let go of this damned straw yet.
Hearing my words the Blood Demon fell silent for a moment as if contemplating.
[Well if that is how you feel then it matters not. In the end the essence is what is important.]
He uttered a significant statement to me.
And at the same time.
Suddenly.
The dimension behind me began to warp.

It was the demonic gate I had entered following the dancer.
There a woman wearing a veil walked out just like before.
It was the dancer.
She slightly bowed her head and performed a greeting as she looked at me.
Seeing that I spoke to the Blood Demon with an annoyed expression.
“Does this mean I’ve seen enough and should leave now?”
[I said if you wish I can send you back anytime. However it seems you have some lingering attachment to this place so I showed my sincerity in my own way.]
“If this is your sincerity then it’s a bit lacking.”
Should I be grateful for surviving and obtaining information at this point?
I recalled the demonic gate.
According to the Blood Demon what lingering attachment did I have to this place?
‘Regret.’
I remembered that the name of the trial was regret.
Considering that the Divine Document had thrown me into this without telling me what to do.
‘Isn’t it just that she wants me to suffer?’
That seemed more plausible.
I thought about just closing my eyes and asking the Blood Demon to send me back but…
‘… Tsk.’
My feet were already turning back toward the demonic gate.
Just before entering the demonic gate.
[It seems outside a guest has come looking for you.]
“Guest…?”
I stopped my steps at the Blood Demon’s words and glanced back for a moment.
A guest suddenly looking for me?
The Blood Demon smiled broadly and continued speaking to me.
[I do not know what you wish for here but I hope you have a good dream.]
It seemed he had no intention of telling me what kind of guest it was.
“…”
Hearing that I turned my head away.
I didn’t know what the Blood Demon was like in the world I originally belonged to but at least the Blood Demon in this world felt a bit unhinged.
I didn’t respond to the Blood Demon and resumed my steps toward the demonic gate.
Thud thud thud-!
When I opened my eyes again I had returned to the original area just like when I first arrived.
Ah if there was one difference from the beginning.
‘The sun is up?’
I distinctly remembered it being night before I entered.
Now the sun was shining.
‘What’s going on?’
No matter how I looked at it this wasn’t a conversation that could have taken enough time to be daytime already.
So why was it already daytime?
As I adjusted my eyes to the light after emerging from the darkness and surveyed my surroundings.
“The master has left a message for you.”
The dancer behind me spoke from inside the demonic gate.
A sudden message? I looked at the dancer wondering what it was about.
The dancer looked at me through the veil and said.
“I promise.”
Her voice was dry and lifeless lacking any vitality almost like a wooden puppet.
Was she mimicking the Blood Demon’s tone?
“No matter what you do here I will not intervene.”
“… What?”
I was about to ask what that meant but…
“… That is the master’s message.”
The demonic gate had already wrapped around the dancer and vanished.
She had truly disappeared leaving only words behind.
I stared at that in disbelief rolling my eyes as I turned my gaze around.
I was the only one standing alone in the forest where no one else could be seen.
Had I really just met the Blood Demon and that was it?
‘What should I do now…?’
Left alone I pondered my next steps.
It was fortunate that I had suddenly intervened in the Murim Alliance met the Blood Demon and came out without any trouble.
But thinking about what to do next was utterly daunting.
Should I go back to where I was?
I hesitated for a moment but then shook my head.
‘No it’s better to move on my own for now.’
It was safer than being in the Murim Alliance.
Ah of course that didn’t mean it was completely safe here.
‘Should I just run and think later?’
Whether it was the Sword Master or anyone else.
It was strange that no one was waiting where I had disappeared but it was a situation where I could naturally escape.
Just as I was about to draw some qi and leap away.
Shwaaa–!
“Huh?”
Suddenly the adversary’s talisman popped out from my bosom and let out a cry.
I widened my eyes at that.
“Oh right. You were here too?”
Thinking back I had completely forgotten about this little one in my bosom.
Had I not noticed because it had been quietly observing?
‘… Wait come to think of it.’
I didn’t think the Blood Demon had mentioned this either.
Had he simply not cared?
It was a somewhat puzzling situation.
Shwaaa.
In the meantime the adversary’s talisman which had shown its face after a long time tightly grabbed my arm and pointed somewhere with its head.
What was it doing now?
“I’m busy right now so let’s talk later….”
For now escaping was the priority so I tried to ignore the talisman and leap again.
Boom-!
“…!”
From a distance behind me I felt a familiar thunderous sound.
Focusing on the sound I turned my head and heightened my senses.
As I heightened my senses the smell of blood brushed past my nose.
What was happening?
Normally I would have either assessed the situation or fled immediately.
But contrary to my angry mind telling me to stay calm.
My body was already rushing toward the direction of the sound.
