”’〈 Chapter 440 〉 Regret. (6)
Creak.
Kyaaaah-!
As the sun set and the moon revealed itself a rough scream echoed through the dark unlit space.
Crack-!
It was the sound of a leg breaking.
A demonic practitioner rolled on the ground collapsing.
He clutched his leg and screamed. It was clearly an abnormal situation.
In this scenario there was someone watching the unfolding events with their back to the moonlight.
“…”
On top of a tall building Mukgwon (黙拳) was observing the situation below.
Demonic practitioners were engaged in a fierce fight.
It wasn’t particularly surprising. Those with lower levels or who had recently become demonic practitioners often lost control of their madness and fought.
Even aside from that most of those who had become demonic practitioners were either from unorthodox sects or had a not-so-great past.
They couldn’t help but fight unable to suppress their unique rage.
Many ended up dying as a result.
But since Captain didn’t care it wasn’t a big issue.
However.
– Kyaaaah…!! That bastard!
– What are you stopping for you bastard?
The current situation was a bit strange.
Mukgwon scrutinized the scene with calm eyes.
‘Hmm.’
He confirmed the demonic practitioners screaming on the ground.
‘Those from the Gwichal Sword Squad.’

He had heard that they had brought in the Sword Demon members to handle the surrounding vigilance and chores.
He had heard rumors that the demonic practitioners from that side were particularly low quality. To see them like this from the very first day was unexpected.
If they were originally part of the Black Flame Corps they wouldn’t have engaged in such troublesome behavior.
‘Out of fear of Captain.’
Unless they wanted to slowly burn to death from their toes up they wouldn’t have acted so unnecessarily.
Mukgwon frowned as he observed the situation.
Normally he would have intervened to stop things at this point.
‘…What is that.’
What should he call this?
Mukgwon found himself momentarily at a loss for words as he watched the scene unfold.
No matter how lowly they were they had surpassed a certain level.
They must have been called to the Black Flame Corps because they were observing the peak of mastery.
Those kinds of people…
‘Are being treated like toys.’
The new recruit who had come today was casually crushing three of them.
“You bastard! Do you know who I am!?”
“Kyaaaah!”
“…”
It looked somewhat like a petty fight mixed with various emotions but the movements that appeared from time to time were astonishing.
‘He’s perfectly controlling his demonic qi.’
The new recruit that the Vice Captain had brought was far more powerful than Mukgwon had anticipated.
‘…I think I understand why Captain told me to watch.’
He vaguely understood why his Captain had ordered him to observe that new recruit.
Captain must have seen through such a display.
If it were Captain it would definitely be the case.
In the midst of this there was a slight question.
“Are you running away? Are you running away now? Not coming over here? If you get caught you’re really dead.”
“Hiiiiiik!”
“You made eye contact. Come here.”
“P-Please… save me!”
“…”
Somehow there was a familiar feeling coming from that new recruit.
“Grrr….”
One of them unable to endure the pain foamed at the mouth and lost consciousness.
Feeling that it might really lead to death Mukgwon began to formulate an intention to intervene.
‘The expectation was the opposite but it doesn’t matter now.’
Just as Mukgwon was about to step in to stop the violence.

“…What are you doing…?”
A voice calling Mukgwon from behind was heard.
Immediately Mukgwon knelt partially.
There was only one person here who could make such a sound without him sensing it.
Without turning to look Mukgwon spoke to the owner of the voice.
“…I greet you Vice Captain.”
Thud.
As he bowed his head deeply he heard soft footsteps approaching beside him.
In the spot illuminated by the moonlight.
The Sword Demon stood there looking down.
Two were crawling on the ground and one was being mercilessly beaten by a young man.
“…”
The Sword Demon quietly observed that scene.
Only the young man stood out to her.
“…Mukgwon…..”
“Yes Vice Captain.”
Mukgwon replied to the Sword Demon’s call.
His head remained bowed.
Mukgwon knew that she disliked making eye contact with anyone other than Captain.
“…You…”
“Yes.”
“…”
Mukgwon waited silently for the follow-up question that the Sword Demon would utter but no further inquiries came.
Wondering what was going on Mukgwon thought about lifting his head slightly.
“…No. It’s nothing….”
The Sword Demon muttered those words and then vanished again.
In this strange situation Mukgwon felt somewhat flustered.
But he didn’t show it.
“Hey! Wake up! Breathe! Breathe… ah damn it.”
Hearing a voice from below Mukgwon rose to his feet. Oh no it seemed something had happened while he hesitated for a moment.
Mukgwon hurriedly descended.
The Sword Demon stood there quietly recalling what had happened the previous night.
While she was wandering around lost.
The Sword Demon had spread out all her senses.
She didn’t trust others to begin with.
No matter how much they mentioned the Cult Leader the Sword Demon did not trust humans.
Especially young men of that age.
The Sword Demon’s senses could reach throughout the vast forest if she wished.
It meant she wouldn’t miss even the smallest sound.
Thus.
– You still like the moon.
She couldn’t help but hear the voice of the young man who had spoken to her while blinking at the full moon.
‘…’
Recalling that voice the Sword Demon slowly moved her steps.
The sadness longing and unknown regret contained in that voice were somewhat concerning.
But more than that.
‘I need to go see him.’
It was more important for the Sword Demon to go see Captain.
******************
A day passed and it was daytime.
Perhaps due to the fight that had been filled with romance and friendship at night the place was quiet allowing for a comfortable sleep.
Was it because he had almost killed one of them? The way the demonic practitioners looked at him was unusual.
‘If Mukgwon hadn’t intervened it might have been a bit dangerous.’
He had lost control due to the pent-up frustration accumulated over the past few days.
He had hit a little harder and the guy had lost his mind.
Even if he woke up he wouldn’t be able to walk for a while.
‘What can you do.’
That was really all he felt.
He had calmed down a lot.
Originally he would have felt the need to pull something out right there to feel satisfied.
‘It wouldn’t have mattered if I killed him….’
That was probably the case.
He had realized this while hitting them yesterday.
It seemed they were not affiliated with the Black Flame Corps.”’
