Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 406 (Part 2)

406 (Part 2)
It seems I had lost consciousness.
How long had I been fainted?
“…Tsk.”
I don’t know that.
But at least I remembered one thing.
Fifteen times.
That’s how many times I died at the hands of the Dark King tonight.
Recalling that it had been nine times the previous day the number had increased.
‘What’s the problem?’
Is the Dark King angry with me?
It felt somehow more ferocious than the day before….
‘…I didn’t even get a chance to brush past him.’
The important thing is that during those fifteen deaths I didn’t even catch a glimpse of the Dark King let alone brush past him.
Looking at this I had to change my thinking.
‘There’s no chance of winning.’
I realized this wasn’t something that could be resolved in a day or two.
I’m not sure if the problem lies with the hallucination-like martial arts that darken the surroundings.
But even aside from that the gap between me and the Dark King was far too wide.
It would be even more problematic since the Dark King hadn’t experienced a reversal like a defeated master.
‘What am I supposed to do with this? Damn old man.’
Resentment towards the master naturally arose. I didn’t even know what I was supposed to gain from this.
Even if I were to obtain what the master desires.
Would I even be able to reach the Dark King?
“Ha.”
I abruptly sat up.

After that I repeatedly opened and closed my fist with my hand realizing something strange.
‘Refreshing.’
Having experienced death a dozen times throughout the night my body felt surprisingly refreshed as if I had slept soundly.
Could it be that I had died so much that my mind had gone blank?
Maybe that’s why my body feels so refreshed.
“…That can’t be it.”
I thought to myself and immediately denied it.
I knew it. My mind wouldn’t crumble over something like this.
No matter what happens my mind won’t break.
It must have been that way since the moment I visited the Demon Realm in my previous life.
I looked around.
The Dark King who should have been somewhere was nowhere to be seen.
Just like yesterday he must have vanished as soon as morning arrived.
Seeing that the first thought that came to mind was.
“Should I eat first?”
It was a thought to fill my stomach first.
******************
It’s now the third day since we started heading to Sichuan.
They said we would only depart in the afternoon in the valley where we are currently staying.
The waiting period feels quite long. It seems there’s some issue with the transportation.
Should I think that they are being thorough because of that?
Even if I’m traveling with them those who are not from the Tang Clan cannot approach the transport team.
While it’s possible to guard the vicinity close access is impossible.
‘It definitely feels quite tense.’
It doesn’t feel like a typical transport; there’s a sharp energy boiling among the Tang Clan members.
Since it was a request from Meng are they focusing more?
Of course I didn’t bother to ask about this. There was no need to and since it’s the Tang Clan’s territory it would be strange for an outsider like me to intrude.
I glanced at the Tang Clan martial artists as I moved.
‘Where are the others?’
I was currently looking for my other companions.
I could eat alone but I preferred to eat together if possible.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve had so much going on lately that I wanted to see their faces even during meal times?
‘Is that such a trivial reason?’
I couldn’t quite understand why I was looking for them for such a reason.
No other reason came to mind.
I guess I just didn’t want to admit it.
I simply didn’t want to acknowledge that I was looking for them because I missed them.

‘Tsk.’
I clicked my tongue inwardly and continued to glance around.
Usually at this point Wi Seol-ah would pop up from somewhere and greet me.
But neither Wi Seol-ah nor Tang So-yeol was in sight.
‘What’s going on?’
Namgung Bi-ah might be sleeping in my carriage or taking a walk somewhere.
But even though I stood still I couldn’t see the two who usually approach stealthily causing my brows to furrow slightly.
I couldn’t help but wonder if something was wrong.
That wasn’t all.
‘Somehow.’
The number of people staying at the campsite seemed relatively sparse.
Not only were the members of the faction absent but the members of the Bi faction who often appeared were also nowhere to be seen.
It felt like they were gathered somewhere.
At this point I thought I should spread my qi.
‘Ah… this is annoying.’
Having just gone through a rough ordeal I wanted to let my qi rest a bit if possible.
With a hint of irritation I spread my qi widely.
Immediately I sensed the presence of many people a little distance away.
But something felt off.
“…What is this?”
Not just the presence.
I could also sense intense fighting energy mixing in with my qi.
As soon as I felt that I quickly leaped.
Was a battle taking place?
If it were just the fighting energy it wouldn’t be a problem.
But amidst the waiting I could faintly feel the presence of thunder energy. This was definitely Namgung Bi-ah’s energy.
Thud-.
Sounds came from my body.
Instinctively my body was shifting into a combat stance.
As I quickly closed the distance I gradually caught sight of people gathering in the distance.
I propelled myself toward that direction.
Bang-!
I landed without performing any acrobatics crashing straight down onto the ground.
Thud-! Dust flew in all directions obscuring my vision and I created a gust of wind to clear it away.
As I looked toward the direction where the fighting energy was boiling I observed the situation.
“…What’s going on?”
Surrounded by onlookers.
Clang-!
The sound of blades clashing echoed.
Several flashes of light appeared simultaneously.
Within that different types of qi clashed as if they were fighting for territory.
Namgung Bi-ah’s thunder energy was one.
Wi Seol-ah’s sword qi was another.
In the meantime I could also sense the poison energy of Tang So-yeol sneaking in.
At first I wondered what those three were doing.
Were they sparring?
They could be sparring but what puzzled me was.
The three energies were moving not to target each other but to aim for something else.
At that moment.
Wi Seol-ah’s sword shot out targeting someone.
The golden energy at the tip of the sword was particularly vivid.
In the midst of it all had Wi Seol-ah grown stronger?
The elegantly curved sword qi shot out looking quite refined.
But.
Clang-! Bang-!
“…!”
An attack was deflected by someone’s sword and Wi Seol-ah was sent flying.
Just as she was about to roll on the ground from the recoil Namgung Bi-ah appeared to assist her.
“What is that…?”
I had to send a bewildered gaze at that sight.
It was amazing that Wi Seol-ah and Namgung Bi-ah along with Tang So-yeol were working together.
But what truly caught my attention was the figure moving gracefully while receiving their combined attack.
Receiving Namgung Bi-ah’s peculiar gaze the woman smiled brightly.
“Looks like the pretty girls are doing better than I expected? This unnie might be a little happy.”
The identity of the one receiving the combined attack was none other than.
The White Lotus Sword Mo Yong-bi-yeon.
